Miraculous Mayhem
PROLOGUE
Chloe knew the feeling that came with being akumatized. All inhibitions deserting her, leaving her focused on only one objective… retribution and the means to do that was to follow Hawkmoth's orders. This wasn't anything like that. Being an akuma messed with her identity, made her lose sense of self… This wasn't anything like that.
She could still think for herself. No overwhelming emotions that took over her mind but at the same time, she felt something else… another being in her mind, not invading her like the Akuma did but just lying there dormant, not a part of her but still fused with her… a symbiote… the word came to her mind but it wasn't her thoughts.
She felt it… no, she felt them.
"Who are you?" She asked scared as she looked at the mirror, waiting any moment for the red insignia of Hawkmoth to appear over her face.
But though she felt anxious, something deep within her reassured her that it was okay. And maybe it was. Whatever was going on, she didn't feel the surge of rage coming over her. She was in control here.
Not control… Balance
"What the hell is going on?" She whispered before narrowing her eyes. "Hawkmoth, if it's some new way to screw with my head, I promise you I will fucking annihilate you."
Not Hawkmoth…
She felt a black vine emerge from her palm and slowly grow up her arm. It was weird and gross but oddly fascinating.
We are Venom... We are heroes.
If the situation was any less bizarre, she would have burst out laughing.
Oh please, she had tried the hero stuff, being a good person… all that shit. It didn't work out. What did happen was a terrorist holding her parents hostage and forcing her to do his dirty work… Ladybug and the other heroes thought she betrayed them but did she really have any other choice? She was being cornered by a dangerous man and had no means of protecting herself. She thought her heroes had abandoned her.
Chloe wished she was brave enough to refuse Hawkmoth, damn the consequences but she had no idea how he would have reacted. Even if the heroes saved her parents, what was stopping Hawkmoth from pushing her off the balcony and killing her… Nothing.
She betrayed Ladybug and now she could never be a hero again. Ladybug would never trust her with a miraculous again and frankly, Chloe was surprised she ever did… Chloe knew she was a horrible human being, a merciless bully and occasionally a heartless bitch, not above sabotaging and hurting others to get her own goals.
She wasn't a hero and Pollen deserved better.
She was worthless and ridiculous, utterly ridiculous for ever hoping she could be a good person…
Not ridiculous… The voice hissed and the black material swirled around her neck, forming a face… a reptilian face with white slits for eyes and a mouth that opened to reveal a serpentine tongue…
Chloe screamed. And that was all she remembered before everything became black and she lost consciousness
Author's Notes:
While I love Miraculous, I really hated how they destroyed all of Chloe's character development in the Season 3 finale and Season 4. So this is my way of making things right. It picks up a few weeks after "Miracle Queen" and while it's a Marvel crossover, don't expect the Avengers or Spiderman to swing by Paris immediately. We'll know why and how the Symbiote bonded to Chloe later on. For now, it's just Chloe trying to redeem herself and be a better person/hero with help from an equally if not more flawed entity, who shares her headspace.
