I do not own Hetalia okay? I know it has been awhile since I updated this fic but I do plan to have this story go to the end. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

May 31st 1919

(From the diary of Alfred F. Jones.)

This was the biggest bash I had seen given for a 4-year-old, but honestly half of it was for Vanya himself. Lucille had brought us all to a big garden bash and wanted Nikolai to have a great birthday, which he did, I cannot say he didn't. Although Nattie was worried that he ate too much of the sweets that the she had provided. Although to be fair Lucille did not let anyone near them until dinner was finished and made sure it was some of the best French cooking chefs in New York can offer. God I hope Nikolai doesn't start to expect this every year. But when desert was offered was when Lucille gave Nikolai something I was planning for Christmas and something that has Nattie worried. Very worried. She gave Nikolai a BB gun. I mean yeah, we both want to teach the boy to shoot and he thinks he will be a hero one day like his Dyadya Vanya, but he's 4…. He did ask Vanya to help teach him to shoot though, which is kind of cute. He's still small enough to sit on his lap and I can help teach from standing I guess. Maybe that was part of Lucille's motivation. She has become very concerned for him and it's nice having someone who isn't family help with this.

She did get her and her little society group, I don't know what they make of themselves, I am not a high society guy and I swear some of the Art Deco stuff Lucille is painting looks weird to me. Once again, no society guy but they gave Vanya a reward for his dedication and some medals for his deeds that her brother had worked hard to make sure they gave him and damn, the man deserves that at least. Actually deserves so much more. I keep trying to hint to him that maybe he should ask Lucille out and since she is such a bold type of fiery pretty (and Nattie hit me for saying that, not that Nattie is less than a beauty queen herself to me!) French girl that she should ask him out and she just giggled that French way and went "Oh you." But this whole celebration was a fun way for Ivan to hopefully see that Nikolai loves him no matter what and his war injury means nothing to us. I mean he at least agreed to take Nikolai out back at his house and show him how to use the BB gun in a safe manner. In fact, Nattie gave the gun for Ivan and Katy to keep until Nikolai is taught better. It's just a BB gun, why can't we keep it at our house? To this Nattie said she didn't trust Nikolai to not sneak around and try and find it himself. Well I guess, that's fair enough reason. I really want to see the bonding those two had before the war again though, so I am not arguing.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. This story is intended to stand independent of both The Longing of the Heart and The Healing of the Heart which this story will have a difference from both naturally. Now if this will be as long as those, that I do not know yet and I won't update as fast as some of the others I have. But anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
