I do not own Hetalia okay? I know it has been awhile since I updated this fic but I do plan to have this story go to the end. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

May 31st 1919

(from the diary of Natalya Jones nee Arlovskaya)

That was one of the more grandiose as the French say celebrations I had ever been to. I had known a little of Lucille from what Vanya's letters said and what Fredka told me when he had picked big brother up from the docks, but I did not think she was this rich or well connected. The award they gave to him for his valiantly in the war is fitting, the least those Europeans could do for dragging him into that meat grinder called a war and what they did to him. What they did to his body and his mind. Other than the fact I worry Nikolai may hurt one of the twins with the BB gun carelessly, I want him to see his uncle more. He loves Vanya so much. He actually told Matvey this. Which while a little inappropriate, does tell me he respects his uncle so much. And I figured if playing with Nikolai helped Matvey to come to terms with what happened, then it might just work with big brother too.

I am currently sitting here listening to Katyusha talk about how much fun she had at the party with Matvey and Nikolai as the children are asleep right now. They have been more open with how they feel about each other since Lucille had visited about a month ago and he gave his blessing as Matvey calls it for those two to see each other. I wish that Matvey would have had the balls to admit how he felt from the start but with how big brother is, and the mood of the family when he came back, I can understand why he would not have.

Other than the extravagance of the event, I am still slightly amazed how much Nikolai, my first born son has grown. It was his 4th birthday after all. I remember it all too well, how long it took, or how long it felt as the neighbors had all told my just one evening of labor is rather short in comparison to what they had to do when they gave birth. The twins are starting to teethe so there are times I do have to get up and sooth them. Like now. Sounds like Anya has woken up. I will tend to her then wait for my dearest Fredka to come back home. I am so tired. But I don't want him to be alone when he comes home. I will send Katyusha back as I know that she will need to help big brother to bed, even though he will not admit she does. I know so much from her.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. I This story is intended to stand independent of both The Longing of the Heart and The Healing of the Heart which this story will have a difference from both naturally. Now if this will be as long as those, that I do not know yet and I won't update as fast as some of the others I have. But anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
