Chapter 4: Upstream

Emily was bleeding out.

She had offered her blood to the vampires that held them captive. She pleaded with them to heal Elena and that neither of them would try to escape.

They took the deal. After the vampires healed Elena and took turns draining Emily of her blood, they slit her wrist and left them for dead.

Either to starve or in Emily's case bleed out slowly.

Emily noticed the leader of the group of vampires is a short black woman with smooth dark skin and long braided hair. The tall blonde man with blue eyes seems to be her lover and second in command alongside the tall redheaded women with blue eyes who also seem to be the black woman lover and third in command.

"We'll be back soon and we're taking this town back into our hands," The black vampire woman informed the group. No one challenged her or argued, they just left.

The blonde tall vampire slit Emily's wrists not enough to kill her though. " I should end you two here but there something so much worst in store for you two and this town"

Now, Emily and Elena were tied to chairs facing each other and the house was trashed, dark and abandoned surrounded by the forest.

She didn't want to die like this, and she felt her eyes begin to close.

"Emily, stay awake!" Elena pleaded with a shout. She still had blood stains on her arms and shoulders from where the vampire blood healed her, her straight black hair was sticking to her skin as were her clothes from blood and sweat.

Emily could only imagine what she looked like right now, probably something close to a ghost.

"We're going to get out of this," Elena said looking around the abandoned house.

As Emily felt her eyes begin to close again, something shocked her like a bolt of lightning, she felt herself gasp at newfound energy.

The energy and source of where it was coming from was getting close to the house, to her and Elena.

And Emily began to look around, she could sense it was coming towards the back door."Someone or something coming, it feel like its a good thing but I'm not sure"

No, two beings were coming. Emily knew them and her heart was aching as if it was heartbroken.

Elena straight up, and looked around to, and at the back door to the left.

They both screamed when both the front door and back door were broken down. Two blurs ran into the house and stopped in front of the gals.

"Emily, is it really you?" The vampire with dark blonde hair and forest green eyes asked. His 'fang face' was on full display, he was athletic built and hand brood shoulders. He looked down at Emily's wrist as the blood dripped down her wrist and onto the floor.

The tall blue eyed and black haired vampire pushed both of them back into the staircase. "Control yourself, little brother" and then whispered something to him into the green-eyed vampire ear.

"I hope you're the good guys," Emily smiled sadly, feeling her vision blur. The blue-eyed vampire bit into his wrist and forced the blood down Emily's throat.

She felt her wounds heal and her body tingled with magic. But once she felt her wrists start to burn and ankles too, where their captures had tied her up. She groaned in pain and her magic retreated into silence.

The vampire pulled his wrist from Emily's mouth and cut the ropes that bound her.

"Katherine?" The blue-eyed vampire questioned as he tilted his head. He just noticed her in the room.

The green-eyed vampire helped Emily up and out the chair.

"She is not Katherine," Emily snapped at them and then sighed. "Who is Katherine and why does every vampire we've met think she's Katherine?"

Damon shrugged and went to untie Elena."Could've fooled me, she as spitting image of Katherine Pierce ,so your saying you don't remember us either Emily"

"I" Emily looked at them both, really looked at them. Emily felt that she knew them, loved them even, the blue-eyed vampire made her feel brotherly love toward him. The same sort of bond she has toward Tyler and Jeremy.

When she looked at the green-eyed vampire she felt so much passion and love it almost made her cry happy tears. When she looked into his forest-green eyes she felt like she could trust him with her life.

This was confusing, Emily realized. These emotions, the bond and love she felt for this man was the same way she felt about Elena.

Those forest green-eyes she used to dream about and told no one about not even her sisters. Those eyes, The man was real.

"I know you, I feel it in my magic and soul," Emily started.

"But I don't have any memories of my past-life, I'm so sorry," She added sadly.

"I'm Stefan Salvatore, I'm just happy to see you alive again," Stefan smiled, and Emily felt her heart melt and her face heated up.

"I'm Damon Salvatore, the older, handsomer, smarter brother," Damon smiled and winked at Emily and Elena.

Elena rolled her eyes while Emily couldn't help but to laugh.

"Okay, that's great in all. I'm Elena Gilbert and we should get out of here," Elena insisted.

"Right, hop on my back," Damon insisted. Elena crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.

"No way, Why?" Elena questioned.

"Why else, to get out of here faster," Damon stated. Elena didn't look convinced until she looked at Emily.

Emily smiled and nodded when Elena looked over at her.

"Don't open your eyes or you'll puke once we get to Shelia house," Damon added quickly before they zoomed off.

Emily turned to Stefan and as soon as she touched him.

She felt so much unconditional love, respect and passion from him towards her.

And underneath those emotions is the general sense of death, pain and guilt over his past.

"Woah," Emily said breathlessly. And pulled her hand away from his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, I thought you knew when a witch touches a vampire they sense all the deaths and pain that vampire has caused," Stefan explained sadly.

"But that's not all that I am," Stefan added.

Emily smiled "I know, Stefan. even in death your heart is pure"

Emily and Stefan both blinked back in surprise.

Emily felt like she's said that before to him in the past. A true Deja Vu moment for her.

"I know, you don't 've said that to me after I transitioned into a vampire," Stefan smiled.

"I promise I'll find a way to remember my past life," Emily said, surprising herself at how much she wants to know him.

"You'll figure it out and if not I will pursue you for your hand with your permission," Stefan said happily.

"Now, Let's get going before my brother and Elena start to worry," he added.

Emily nodded and hopped on his back. They zoomed back to her Grams house.

Once Stefan and Emily arrived at her childhood home.

Emily was engulfed in a group hug from her friends and family.

"O my god, Emily I'm so happy you're alive," Her sisters said unison with tears in their eyes. And Emily felt her heart ache and she hugged her sisters tightly.

-I hope you can hear me, because I wanted you to know I made sure our friends and sister were okay and made it out of the vampire massacre alive-

-I heard you before they took you and Elena, and I'm sorry there wasn't more I could do- Daphne added through telepathic communication.

"I'm happy you did, it's all I could ask for plus it made you discover a new aspect of your power," Emily smiled. Bonnie looked like she hadn't slept in days.

"I tried to get a vision of you or Elena and it didn't work and I couldn't be of any help, I'm sorry Emily," Bonnie cried and Emily caught in her arms before she fell. They sat on the grass together while Emily stroked Bonnie's hair.

Emily started humming a sweet melody that their mother and Grams used to hum to them when they were upset kids.

"We were so worried, we couldn't locate you two even when we tried a scrying spell," Grams said sadly.

"Elena was about to tell what happened," Jeremy informed everyone.

"I'm glad we found two now. Everyone, we should probably get back in the house," Tyler insisted looking around the neighborhood.

"I agree," Stefan nodded to the nosy neighbor looking through their blinds.

Everyone entered Grams house taking their usual spots in the living room even Damon and Stefan found a spot to sit.

Before Emily could question it. "I did a spell that I created myself to enlarge the living room" Lucy said with a shrug. Grams nodded as she sat in her rocking chair.

Emily and Elena decided they wanted to stand since they've been sitting in for days now.

"So what happened?" Jeremy asked, looking at Emily and Elena.

So they explained what happened and everyone was confused by their explanations.

"Who the fuck is Katherine?" Jeremy questioned, Emily could sense his fear and worry rolling off him in waves.

Emily was frustrated that she couldn't answer him. "Im sorry but I don't know"

"Do you think they really left town?" Tyler asked, his eyes glowing gold. A growl rippled through the air.

His anger and thirst to end those vampire scum was strong enough to push Emily back. It was intense but once Bonnie kissed his cheek and laid on his shoulder he calmed down.

"I don't know," Elena answered, looking down at the ground as her eyes began to water.

"Why do they want revenge on the town?" Caroline asked.

"I don't know," Emily answered again.

"Who are these fucking vampires anyway? And why are they here?" Liam wondered.

"I don't know," Elena said, finally sitting down next to Liam.

"Wait, we know the answer to those questions. But what are they talking about when they say an older set of vampires are looking for you and Katherine?" Stefan asked.

"What do you mean you know the answer to our questions," Vivian glared, eyes glowing gold with anger.

Finally Emily couldn't take it. "I don't know, shut up all of you and let me think," she shouted at everyone.

The room went quiet as a burst of energy pushed everyone back and they felt compelled to be silent.

"I need my amulet. Does anyone know where it is?"

Emily felt in her gut that her amulet will help her find the answers she needed.

When no one said anything, "Please, Grams, I need answers and I feel that having my amulet is the key."

"Do you know where my amulet is?" Emily added.

Grams took a breath of relief. "When you told everyone to shut up they felt compelled to do so, empathic manipulation is what witches call it. your powers are expanding and you need to be careful with what you say"

"I'm sorry, you guys feel free to speak,"

Everyone in the room, sighed a breath of relief.

"Does anyone know where my amulet is?" Emily asked.

She felt the familiar sense of the amulet and she looked down at her hand and there it was.

Emily gasped and as she put the necklace on, She felt the room change before she saw it.

She was in the past, sitting in a carriage with the currents closed across from Elena dressed in the 18th century.

Emily couldn't believe her eyes. She wanted to say something but as she tried to speak Emily realized that she was only a viewer in her past self life.

Yet she could feel everything her past-self was feeling at the moment.

She had no idea what her past-self had been through or what she had experienced. And, what scared Emily the most is the fact she might have to see and feel how she died in the past.
