After All Is Said and Done

Fitz

Fitz walked into the home he has shared with Mellie for the past 13 years and felt the same emptiness he felt each time he walked through the doors. Their children should be running up to him wanting kisses and hugs, with Mellie not far behind. There should be life behind these walls instead there's regret and resentment. Fitz feels no connection with this house, which is why he put it down as one of the things Mellie can have in the divorce, along with the 10 million he has offered her. He plans on buying a home for him and Olivia in Atlanta so that she doesn't have to leave her business behind. He'll get a condo here in New Orleans for the season.

Fitz found his mother in the sitting room with his older sister Farrah. They helped themselves to a bottle of wine and were talking about Fitz just as he walked into the room.

"The man of the hour has finally arrived." Farrah sarcastically replied spotting Fitz first. His mother turned around and he could see that she'd been crying, for what he's unsure.

"What's this an intervention?" Fitz scrunched up his face at Farrah.

"Fitz, what the hell is going on with you?" Diane sat her wine glass down and got up from the couch.

"Mom my marriage has been over for a long time." Fitz is still trying to figure out why she was crying. She's acting as if she's the one going through the divorce.

"Fitzgerald you know what your father put me through with his affairs. You saw how it destroyed you and your sister and what it did to our family. For you to turn around and do that poor woman the same way is despicable. I did not raise you to be that kind of man. I did not raise you to be your father." Diane berated Fitz. She had a look of disgust on her face that Fitz has never seen before and it irritated the hell out of him.

"I am not dad. Don't you ever compare us? You knew what kind of man he was before you married him. It doesn't excuse how he treated you or your marriage. But please take some accountability." Fitz has not been a perfect husband, but for his mother to compare him to his dad was a low blow. Diane had no business marrying Gerry, everyone knew he was and still is a wealthy piece of shit, and how much of a ladies' man he was and still is. All Diane saw were dollar signs and a savior from the trailer park she grew up in.

Smack! Diane smacked spit out of Fitz's mouth. Truth hurts. Farrah even flinched.

"How dare you speak to me like that? I don't even recognize who you are Fitzgerald. I hope this whore is you're throwing your marriage away for is worth it."

"Don't you ever call her that? And my marriage was a sham. You know all about that don't you mother? You married Gerry to get out of the trailer park, and Mellie married me because of a lifestyle she wanted to live."

"Fitzgerald!" Farrah gasped.

"It's the truth! Why do you think she put up with all of Gerry's bullshit throughout the years. It wasn't to save the marriage. It was to secure her future."

"You truly are your father's son." Diane spat before walking out of the living room.

"Fitz, what do you mean your marriage was a sham?" Farrah wanted to know.

"Mellie can never have children. She was never pregnant. I only married her because I thought she was pregnant." Fitz confessed.

"Oh my God."

"Have you no shame Fitzgerald? That woman must feel less of a woman for not being able to give you a child and this is why you've been cheating on her," Diane yelled walking back into the living room.

"Mom your head's so far up her ass you can't even see Mellie for who she is. She never wanted children that's why she hid it from me. Mellie has never supported my career since I've been in the NFL. All she cares about is the perks of being a baller's wife. You can relate, right?"

Diane ignored his last comment.

"Fitzgerald marriage is all about sacrifice. What sacrifices have you made for her?"

"I always showed up for her! I did my part as a husband. She has never shown up for me unless it benefited her!" Fitz's blood pressure was boiling. He temporarily forgot it was his mother standing before him.

"Fitzgerald, do you hear yourself? Marriage is all about giving and taking." Diane lectured on.

"Yeah, and I have been giving everything I have just for her to take it all." He countered.

"So who is this woman?"

"She's the woman I should've waited for. The love of my life. The woman I want to spend the rest of my life with and build a family with." Just that quick he felt a sense of calmness wash over him at the thought of Olivia.

"How long have you known her?" Diane pondered.

"Long enough to know that she's the one."

"Your my son and I love you I just cannot support you on this." Diane leaned up and kissed Fitz on the cheek.

"I love you to mom, but I don't need your support or blessing."

Diane left the living room again and this time didn't return. Farrah was stuck trying to soak in everything that just happened. Fitz walked off to his mini bar in search of some scotch. He needed a few shots after that conversation.

Olivia

"Ami you here!" Olivia called out to Amelia hoping she was home. She had to fill her girl in on what's been going on.

"Well, well, well hello my darling daughter." Maya prissily greeted. Maya acts just like Diahann Carroll's character Marion on 'A Different World'.

"Mother w-w-w-what are you doing here?" Olivia hates that she stutters when she's nervous it's a dead giveaway that she's losing control.

"Oh my darling daughter, what mess have you gotten yourself into now child?" Maya contemptuously grinned.

"I have nothing to say to you." Olivia rolled her eyes.

"Oh, but I have so much to say to you. Another married man, huh? Where did I go wrong with you? First, it was your uncle whom you almost destroyed, then it was your principle, and God knows how many others in between, and now you have really tainted your image with this one." Maya didn't hide the amusement on her face.

"Uncle Baxter raped me! He ruined my life and you and dad did nothing! He stole my innocence mom! How dare you sit in my face and say I almost destroyed him!" Olivia's entire body shook with rage.

"Olivia enough! You like to blame everyone else for your promiscuous ways when there's no one to blame but you. I told you to stop wearing those little shorts and tops. I told you to stop dancing provocatively at the family barbeques. You didn't want to listen to me. You enticed him and what did you think was going to happen Olivia?"

"I WAS 12! How the fuck does a 12-year old entice a grown-ass man? He's the monster mom! He's the blame! I was wearing what every other 12-year-old girl was wearing. Why was I told to cover up? He should've been checked not me. He's a pervert and predator and you welcomed him back into your home, shame on you."

"Oh Olivia, you need to get over it. You are 21 years old now, let go of the past honey."

"It happened until I was 16 years old mom, you and dad just turned a blind eye to it. I will never get over what he did to me. I will never forget it."

"At a certain point, it became a choice. He told us that you began to come onto him. He did the work and got help. So who's really the sick one here."

"Get out! Get the fuck out and don't you ever come back here again. I hate you!"

"You just remember one thing little girl, nothing good comes from sleeping with a married man."

"And nothing good comes from a parent allowing their child to get molested. I guess we'll both have a seat in hell waiting for us."

Mellie

"These are Fitz's terms Mellie and I think he's being generous considering." Leo Mellie's lawyer stated.

"Considering what?" Mellie bubbled with annoyance.

"That he hasn't exposed the real reason you two were married." Leo reminded Mellie.

"That's irrelevant I was cheated on." Mellie tried to justify.

"Mellie I understand. What I need you to understand is that if you keep pushing him he's going to expose and everyone will be on his side. What more do you want from him? He's giving you 10 million dollars and the house."

"I want the world to stop thinking he's so perfect. I want his fans and everyone else to know that he's nothing more than a philandering alcoholic who can't keep his dick in his pants." Mellie was allowing hurt to cloud her judgment. Fitz is no alcoholic. In fact, Fitz lost a close friend in college to drunk driving.

"Alcoholic don't you think you're pushing it a little too far."

"I want his career to be over! He thinks he can walk away from me after 17 years and give this whore the life I deserve!" Mellie banged her hand on the table.

"Why are you dragging this Mellie? Are you still in love with him? Because you were just crying out how in love you were with me while in bed with me a few minutes ago." Mellie knew she should've never begun an affair with Leo. What started out as a get back to Fitz has become a full-on obsession Mellie cannot get rid of. Leo is one of the best divorce lawyers in NOLA, he's also a nut case for Mellie.

"Leo don't be silly I am not in love with Fitz." Mellie truthfully replied. She isn't in love with him, she loves the life he has provided for her.

"So why are you fighting him so hard on this divorce?"

"His contracts negotiations are coming up, I want half of it."

"I'll send the documents over to his lawyers might I add-"

"If you keep meddling like a jealous little boyfriend, I'll fire you. Now please get out of my face."

Leo sighed and gathered his things leaving Mellie's hotel room hastily. This is where Mellie has been residing. She's tired of being left alone in that big ass mansion.

Just as he left, Mellie's cell phone started ringing. Grabbing it from the table she saw that Farrah was calling.

"Hey, Farrah." Mellie rolled her eyes. She hates Fitz's sister. She hates anyone she has to share Fitz's money with.

"Your husband is home this may be your last chance at saving your marriage." Farrah gave her heads up.

"Thank you, Farrah."

"No problem, good luck."

Mellie ended the call gathered her purse and left the hotel room. She was an hour away from the house she shared with Fitz and made it there in twenty minutes. She ignored every traffic law set in place trying to make it home.

Before getting out of her car, Mellie gave herself a pep talk. Farrah was right, this was her last shot at getting Fitz back. She knows deep down inside he still loves her. You can't just eradicate 17 years from your heart like it meant nothing, even if it was all a lie.

Mellie knew Fitz was in his mancave, it's his favorite part in the house. She was right, he was sitting on the couch engrossed in a conversation with his whore mistress Olivia.

"Hi, honey." Mellie wrapped her arms around Fitz's neck planting a kiss on his cheek. She was loud enough for Olivia to hear her.

"Babe let me call you back." Fitz ended the call and jumped off the couch. He shot Mellie a deathly glare, "are you fucking high?"

"No, I am trying to get my husband back."

"I don't have time for this shit." Fitz walked away from Mellie.

"Just one more time Fitz….can I have you one more time…and I'll walk away…I'll sign the papers…I'll leave you alone…just one more time."

"Take off your clothes."

Will Fitz do it? As always babes, leave your thoughts! Until next time!
