Chapter 6: Crazy Phone/A Gift
Clouds covered most of the early evening sky above the Hart residence. A strong wind blew through the trees in which it caused their leaves to rustle loudly. Some branches looked about ready to break off. One branch tapped a second-floor window. The house was large with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The basement had one of the bathrooms. A chain-link fence surrounded the backyard. The sliding glass door led out to a deck that overlooked a hill. The front porch had a swing and two foldable chairs.
Kim sipped coffee from a mug as she looked out the sink window in the kitchen. She glanced around the medium-sized kitchen. It had bright yellow cabinets and white walls. Its floor happened to be gray and made of tile. It contained an oak table with five matching chairs. A bar with four stools could also be seen. She turned back to her mug to take another sip of coffee. She went over to the bar and placed it there.
She ran her fingers over her hair as she thought about her parents. She was glad they were not here. She did not have to deal with them talking about their wealth constantly. She hated when they flaunted it in other people's faces, especially of those less fortunate. She didn't think having so many material possessions were necessary, but she could never get them to see that. She cringed every time they called her an ungrateful spoiled brat when she protested their spending habits.
Her thoughts drifted to Tommy. She hoped she could get answers from him about why he didn't meet her at the Youth Center for their study date. She believed Zack was right about something coming up. She could not count the number of times that happened to her and her friends. She didn't like it when plans changed at the last minute, but she understood things happened and that she could not do much about it.
Kim snapped out of her thoughts when the phone rang in a loud way. She turned toward it slowly. She hoped it was not her parents calling as they tended to do it while drunk on their vacations. She hoped it was one of her friends. She enjoyed talking to any of them on a Friday night. She approached the phone. She picked it up in the middle of the third ring. She put it to her ear.
"Hello?" Kim asked.
"Congratulations! You're a finalist for a chance to win tickets to a Phil Collins concert!" a young man shouted in much joy.
"What?" Kim muttered confusingly.
The man laughed. "I am not joking. This is really true. The tickets can be yours if you answer these three questions correctly. Do not hang up. I will get the questions in a sec."
Kim huffed. "Unh-unh. This is just a prank call. I never entered a contest for U2 concert tickets. Your friends must've put you up to this. Do not call here again. I mean it."
Kim hung up the phone and snorted loudly. She mumbled obscenities in Spanish and let out an annoyed scoff. She hated it when people made prank calls and wished they wouldn't do that. She hated prank calls to 911 the most. She saw it as dangerous because they tied up dispatchers when they could be tending to real emergencies.
Suddenly, the phone started ringing again. She wondered who it could be this time. She hoped the caller wasn't the man who made the fake finalist call. She would have a few choice words for him if it turned out to be him. She moved her hand toward the phone at a steady pace. She picked it up as at the end of the second ring. She placed it to her ear.
"Hello?" Kim asked.
"May I talk to Denny?" an elderly woman replied in a gentle voice.
"Who?" Kim wondered in much confusion.
"Denny. Does he happen to be there?" the woman said hopefully.
"I hate to tell you this, but you dialed the wrong number," Kim admitted in much regret. "There is no one named Helen living in this residence."
"I am sorry! I can't believe I called this number!" the woman yelled shamefully.
"It's all right, ma'am. Everyone ends up calling someone else when they dial one number wrong," Kim assured softly.
"I need to pay closer attention to what numbers I press," the woman whispered and made a funny noise.
"Yep," Kim agreed. "Anyway, I hope you get in contact with Denny."
"Thanks for not yelling at me," the woman said gratefully. "I've had people yell at me when I dialed their numbers accidentally."
"You're welcome," Kim replied and emitted a long yawn. "Bye."
Kim laid the phone on its base. She groaned in much annoyance before shaking her head rapidly. She felt she would go crazy if the next caller turned out to be a prankster or another who had dialed the wrong number. Not once did she think it would happen to her twice in one night. This was especially true for a Friday. She hoped it wouldn't happen again. She went over to the sink window to stare out it.
She heard the phone ring again. She looked toward it and swallowed hard. She prayed the caller happened to be someone she knew. She went toward it steadily. The third ring started when she touched it. She bit her lip before emitting a soft snort. She picked it up carefully. She put it on her ear. Her heart started to beat a little faster.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Kim," Matt said in a slurred voice.
"Dad, why are you calling me while you are drunk?" Kim demanded in much irritation.
"I am not drunk," Matt insisted with a chuckle. "I was just calling to see how my baby girl is doing."
Kim sighed. "I am doing fine. At least I was until you called drunk out of your mind."
"I am telling you," Matt snapped. "I am not drunk. Why do you always have to accuse me of stuff?"
"Because what I am saying is true. You are drunk," Kim responded angrily. "Your voice is slurred. That is the first sign of it."
"You ungrateful little brat. You should be happy you are by yourself!" Matt yelled.
"As a matter of fact, I am happy being by myself," Kim responded and flared his nostrils. "I do not have to deal with you and Mom bragging about your wealth all the time."
"Why shouldn't we?" Matt asked. "We are better than everyone else is."
"No, we are not. Uncle Steve told me that," Kim said while shaking her head rapidly.
"My brother is nothing more than a loser raising a bunch of stupid horses," Matt leered.
"No, he is not. Now, I will talk to you tomorrow when you are sober," Kim retorted with a hiss.
Matt growled. "You better not—"
Kim slammed the phone on its base. She grabbed her hair with both hands while growling frustratingly. She hated her father drunk-dialing her more than anything else. She hoped he would not do that again tonight. She returned to the sink window and stared out it once more.

On the Lunar Palace's balcony ten minutes later, Tommy made an adjustment to the Repulsascope. He moved it west and looked into it. He could see Kim talking on the phone with Trini in her kitchen. He watched her imitate slamming her phone on its base during Matt's drunken call. He adjusted the Repulsascope again.
He could feel his heart beating fast and his cock growing hard. He felt tempted to teleport down there unmorphed and grab her. However, he didn't want to reveal he was the Green Ranger until she was in his grasp. He was determined to seduce her into being sexually intimate with him. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a clearing throat. He turned around to see Goldar with his hands behind his back. Squatt and Baboo stood next to him.
"What are you looking at, Tommy?" Goldar wondered in much curiosity.
"Is it something interesting?" Squatt added.
"I didn't see anything interesting unless you count the Pink Ranger talking on the phone as such," Tommy responded.
"That girl enjoys spending time alone in her house. She does not have to deal with her parents bragging about their wealth," Baboo explained while holding up a finger.
Goldar blinked twice. "That would drive anyone crazy. On top of that, your plan to send Jason to the Dark Dimension and grab Kimberly for yourself is brilliant. Without their leader and the heart of the team, the others will be much easier to deal with."
Squatt chuckled. "Yeah!"
"What do you have behind your back, Goldar?" Tommy asked while raising his eyebrows.
Baboo smiled warmly while clasping his hands together. "It is a gift just for you, my friend."
Goldar brought his hands forward in which he revealed the Dragon Dagger. Tommy came down the stairs and approached him. His eyes were filled with much curiosity and wonder.
"This is the Dragon Dagger. It controls the Dragonzord. That zord sleeps at the bottom of Angel Grove Harbor. It's been there for ten thousand years. Playing it like a flute summons it," Goldar explained.
"My own zord," Tommy said as the golden warrior handed it to him. He ran his hand over it very carefully. "I will be able to inflict damage on various places and crush the Power Rangers once and for all."
"Let's pray the Dragonzord operates well," Baboo muttered uncertainly.
"Shut up, Baboo!" Goldar yelled while pointing his finger at him. "I don't want to hear about that." He turned it toward Squatt when the dimwit nearly opened his mouth. "The same goes for you, Squatt! Do you understand?"
"Yes, sir!" Squatt and Baboo responded while saluting him.
Goldar rolled his eyes before mumbling inaudible words. He wondered why Rita put up with the dimwitted duo. He never saw much use for them with the exception of being spies and making potions. At the same time, he enjoyed watching them play games such as checkers and Go Fish. He always had fun joining them on their games. He recalled a few times he caught one or both of them cheating.
"I should tell you = Rita has used the Dragonzord to cause mayhem before, Tommy," Goldar admitted.
"Oh, yeah?" Tommy said in a surprise voice.
Goldar nodded at him. "It is very true, Tommy. Anyone can control the Dragonzord. The other Power Coins must have wielders in order for their zords to be summoned. A remote can control the zords if a teammate isn't present now."
"I have a feeling that is exactly what the team will do when their leader and heart of the team go missing," Tommy pointed out.
"Yes, but we can beat them easily," Goldar replied. "I summoned the Dragonzord, so it would wreak havoc on the west coast of North America. It killed many humans and animals. Unfortunately, Zordon and his army defeated it."
Tommy raised his eyebrows. "That's interesting. I can hardly wait to meet the Dragonzord."
"Without Rita here, we can go at our own pace," Baboo blurted out as he clapped excitedly.
"That's right!" Squatt commented in much eagerness. "I do feel she jumped into plans too fast sometimes."
"Good things come to those who wait," Tommy said matter-of-factly. "It is important to plan carefully. A smart villain is much more dangerous than a powerful one is."
Squatt nodded rapidly. "Yeah!"
Baboo pumped his fist. "To the fall of the Power Rangers!"
Tommy, Goldar, and Squatt formed fists and touched theirs to Baboo's. They jerked them downward. Tommy proceeded to talk about what Goldar would do to Jason in the Dark Dimension.
