Welcome one, welcome all to yet another chapter of Dragon slayer, Dragon core. This time I'll ask everyone at the start to share your opinion whether Izuku should accept OFA and who Izuku and Natsu should end up with. Last time we had the entrance exam, now we'll be dealing with the aftermath of that and go up to where I feel is a nice cut off moment. Where that will be precisely I don't know yet we'll see. Now we're going to jump right back into it. P.S I used a random number generator for the class lists.

On the bus back Natsu tried to grill Izuku on how he had done and what he had done to get into U.A. while Izuku was just trying to dodge the questions and worry if he had done enough. Natsu was by now wondering something else about Izuku, the boy was exhausted. Izuku was far more exhausted than he should've been according to Natsu, if Izuku had just stuck to his fire mode that was. ''Izukuuuuu…Did you by any chance use something else, or should I say something more than your fire mode?'' That one question got Izuku to worry about more than just getting into the school. It made him worry about the grilling he was in for, char grilled if the look on Natsu's face was to be believed. ''I, uh, no, uh, yes, uh, maybe, no, I certainly didn't use the holy sunfire mode no.'' His goose was well and truly getting cooked now, sweat was pouring almost comically down his head and neck as he looked at Natsu. The pink haired boy in question raised an eyebrow with a simple ''Are you sure you didn't?'' A deep sigh and a low hung head from Izuku already told Natsu more than enough. ''Why?''

Izuku righted himself in the backseat of the bus they were still in and started to give his explanation to Natsu. Natsu who at this moment the green haired kid was telling him all this looked around the bus for eavesdropping people. Only to find that they were the only ones still on the bus. ''Look Izuku I'm not glad you used it, as we discussed before you haven't fully mastered fire yet, but that's rather hypocritical of me. I hadn't fully mastered fire when I got my lightning and I would be lying if I said I didn't use my dual element today either. I didn't melt the zero pointer, I blew it to kingdom come from top to bottom with a roar. I get why you did it and agree it was the best course of action, but I can't help wondering if we were the only ones to destroy the zero pointers?'' What Natsu and Izuku of course didn't know was that the teachers were going over the footage repeatedly. Not only to accurately tally the points, but also award rescue/hero points. While they had been doing this they could of course hear what was being shouted all over the place.

As they neared the end of the exam they noticed once again the similarities between two applicants, both yelled their attacks as if they were ultimate moves and moved very much alike. The thing that was odd was that one had green hair and the other pink. Their names and last names couldn't be more different from each other, but their address was the same. Natsu Dragneel and Izuku Midoriya. Their quirks were listed as Dragon slayer and Dragon Core¸ very similar and yet subtly different. Not only were dragon related quirks rare, but often very powerful. ''It's not logical to attack the zero pointer, let alone do it by yourself.'' The words were spoken by Shota Aizawa, known as the underground pro hero Eraserhead. The perpetually tired man could already feel a headache coming up as he saw the scores that the two had. They would be easily let into the hero course and he would at least have to deal with one of them. As the dark haired man doubted he could foist both of them off on his Sekijiro Kan, better known as Vlad King. Aizawa would at least be able to teach one of the two logic in his thinking. ''It doesn't have to be logical Aizawa, it shows they have the attitude of a true hero. To take the problem head on if there is no other option as both only attacked when another applicant was in danger.'' Or so the principal spoke, the hybrid animal was intrigued by the two applicants and already told himself that he would send their acceptance holograms.

Keeping the footage on replay saw them analyzing the would be students thoroughly and list the ones that would be entering the hero course. There were of course the recommended students in the form of Shoto Todoroki, Momo Yaoyorozu, Setsuna Tokage and Juzo Honenuki. After them came 36 lucky ones. They would be divided by the teachers, or a random number generator would be set loose. The principal was thinking about both dragon students once more and decided that he would split them up, if only to make sure that they didn't rely too much on a pre existing bond. That and maybe it would bridge the rift that usually developed between A and B a bit. Some students he would manipulate where they'd end up, like the Bakugo kid going to Eraserhead. If there was one teacher that would take no shit from his students and keep them in line it was him. For all the others they'd see. Finally after all the rankings were dished out a final viewing of the last moments was played.

The moment that the two applicants near simultaneously took out their zero pointers with what could only be called breath attacks the principal paused. Causing the other teachers to ask why he stopped the video, only for him to play it almost frame by frame. The same breathing technique, the same start of the line. 'Roar of the' That was the moment they attacks changed. The teachers had all seen the slight changes in appearance, but hadn't really paid attention to what they had yelled. What they had paid attention to was the why, the power, the aftermath, the destruction, but not the words. 'Holy sunfire dragon/Lightning flame dragon' Noticing what happened what happened when the attacks hit was what caused Nezu to grant Izuku higher points than Natsu. The explosions caused shrapnel to fly everywhere, while the melting kept it contained. Marking these points he added them into the rankings and projected the scores for all teachers to see.

Even All Might had to blink a few times seeing these scores as his record had previously been the highest, followed by Endeavor. To see Endeavor's score beaten thrice and his own twice made him think once more that something was wrong with the top two. Not because there couldn't be anyone higher, more because of that Izuku had said he could have been practically quirkless as his quirk was useless. The number one almost considered contacting his old sidekick Sir Nighteye, his quirk Foresight would have been a great boon in a situation like this. Even though a quirk that would have showed him the past of a person even more so. Not that he had access to such a quirk and that it would be very much used in courtrooms to discern whether someone had done something. No one could lie to their own past. Sure they could see it differently, but truly hiding the past was not.

As all of this was playing out the two boys had reached their home and Inko was fussing about them for a few hours now. A simple ''We're fine mom'' was off course never going to cut it, vene though Izuku had tried that very thing. She had wanted to know everything about them and how the exams had gone. She heard from Izuku that he thought the written part had gone well, seeing as he had been one of the first few done. Though that also caused him to doubt his own answers, only for Natsu to hit him on the head with a flaming fist. ''Stop doubting yourself Izuku, we talked about this. That and I won't have my best friend and rival in this universe think he can't do something.''

Which of course got Inko to smile again, even though she worried about Natsu's theoretical part. She knew that the pink haired boy wasn't always the best when it came to writing and thinking logically. She kept asking questions about the exam and when she came to the practical part the two looked a bit too sheepish if she said so herself. ''What did you two knuckleheads do?'' Natsu and Izuku looked at each other and answered at the same time ''NOTHING!'' Trying to make a break for their respective rooms, only to be grabbed by the ears once again. It was a favourite method of Inko's, one she had learned about from the people Natsu knew before he got to Japan. It worked very well on both boys and when she got as worried as she got about them that day she was prone to using it. ''You two have five seconds to start explaining exactly when you two did before I continue to twist.'' After that both boys spilled the beans on what had happened.

Even though Inko was proud of the twp of them for acting when others wouldn't and helping other people, she was also rather annoyed. One of them got hurt and the other just didn't seem to pay attention to his surroundings, which could have ended very badly with the robot exploding. Not to mention that melting a robot meant that her son had produced so much heat that it could have very well ended very badly too. Laying into the two for these facts that they needed to consider what was around them and pay attention to themselves as well she hugged them. She knew she had come from very far with how the situation was before, with Izuku's dad still sort of in the picture. As she was hugging them she told them how proud she was too. Thanking Natsu once more for coming into their lives Inko started on dinner.

The dinner in question was eaten with great speed as both boys were hungry from their activities that day and they turned into bed quite early after that. The following day the two boys slept in for the first time since Izuku had started his training regime under Natsu. This was because they didn't need to train anymore to get into U.A; sure they would pick up the training again the next day, but the day after exams was rest day. Finally getting out of bed at about noon the two plopped onto the couch and started scrolling through the channels on the TV, having not much better to do. Their mom was out working and Natsu decided to cook, or rather flame grill dinner. No answer came from U.A. that day. The following days followed a similar pattern until about a week had passed.

On a Saturday after their training their mum burst into the room holding an envelope addressed at the both of them. Upon looking at the envelope they saw that it came from U.A. and the excitement rose. With shaking hands Izuku took the letter from his mom, only to have Natsu yank it out of his hands and open it in one go. A small disc dropped from the envelope and it seemed to activate on its own. Seeing nothing, hearing something, but seeing light come from the bottom they quickly flipped it around and saw what looked like a combination of a mouse, bear and dog talking. The principal had just finished his regular opening with his whole 'What am I?' Only to end with the 'The principal of U.A.' ''Now first of all, let me congratulate the two of you on making it into the hero course. Not only did you make it into the course, you two have the highest scores since All Might himself took the exam.'' As they were told this they were being show the scores of all the students who had taken the course entrance exam. Finding that they had Bakugo beat by a wide margin, even if he had more villain points.

The principal continued with talking and the two brought their attention back to the hologram. ''We here at U.A. always take try to take a good look at who we are bringing into the hero course, especially since a few years ago. Which brings us to my next points of interest. One, while Izuku has always been listed as living where you do now, Natsu hasn't. Where Natsu has always seemed to have a strong quirk according to school records, Izuku didn't. Then again there are only school records of Natsu for the last year. Neither are there location records, birth certificate, or anyone else by the last name of Dragneel. It says here you're family, but that is hard to believe with so little information. I would recommend a meeting between the three, or four if your mother wants to come along before the school year starts. From your actions that show heroics are in your blood I do not mind you having in U.A., but I do want to know who, or what I am dealing with. Your classes you'll hear at the same time.'' With that the principal had walked forward en pressed his paw onto the button to end the recording.

As the hologram stopped both teenagers were shocked, they had been so careful all those months and now in a week everything had come crumbling down. Izuku looked at Natsu and the look that was shred between the two of them told that they had no choice in this matter. They needed to bring the hybrid quirked animal on board. If the principal had been able to figure out this much already in this little time, there was no telling the amount of trouble they were likely to get into if they didn't. Still happy that they had made it into the school and the hero course they went to Inko and explained the situation.

The two boys were marched into the car and driven straight to U.A. not caring that it was a Saturday they pressed the doorbell and waited. They were greeted by Cementoss, who had been working on the areas that had been damaged by the exams, for both end of year and entrance into the hero course. Izuku was nerding out about the blocky man, who looked rather surprised to see the two applicants there. ''How can I help you? You do know that the school year isn't starting yet?'' The boys and Inko explained that the principal had asked to meet them and so that was why they were there. With Cementoss asking the principal over the intercom if that was right they were left waiting for a few minutes while the principal apparently decided to meet them at the gates himself.

As the animal reached the gate he opened it with a remote and waved them inside, letting Cementoss go back to restoring the damaged areas and perhaps start on the dorm idea that had been forming in the principal's brain. Leading the three to his office he explained what they saw on the way and he mentioned the dorm idea that he had. Which sounded like a lot of fun to Natsu, while Izuku was thinking of how his mom would react and Inko had the instinctual reaction to pull the two teenagers in a hug and not let go. As they entered the principal's office the atmosphere changed to something more businesslike. ''Okay, time to get to business, who are you, what are you and why are you here Natsu, what did you do to Izuku, what kind of magic did you use on the system, his mother and why can't I find anything? Give me a few reasons not to call the authorities and cackle like a madman when they cut you to pieces verbally and hopefully physically.''

The animal had never made a secret out of the fact that he didn't like humans all that much, especially the ones that experimented on him and others. Giving the principal a blank look, with a raised eyebrow Natsu asked deadpan. ''What if I simply decide to turn you into my next meal, I've eaten weirder creatures before. Aside from the fact that Izuku would not be happy with that, I have a few more reasons not to. What I also know for a fact is that if I contact the right people you won't even remember that you were suspicious of me in the first place. It is that the same people said that you could be trusted that I haven't done something about this already.'' Which was of course true. After all Natsu had blasted houses, people and whatnot that had changed into monsters and roasted them before trying to eat them. He had eaten literal flying fish and that was not counting everything else he had tries in roughly eighty years of living in Fiore. Natsu was not happy that not only was he being doubted and cast into a bad light, the same applied to Izuku and Inko. That was something that wouldn't do.

The other thing that he wasn't lying about was that the afterlife and he still kept in close contact even though the first task that had been set before him had been completed. He very much liked talking to the people he had known before and even some heroes that had joined them now. The representation of the afterlife while sometimes a bit annoying with what it would or would not say was someone, something that he counted among his friends now too. That same representation had informed Natsu that the principle could be trusted, but might be a bit weird and that if needed it would take care of matters with the rodent. ''Now listen up rodent, I will tell the story only once in full, questions come after and I know you hate being called a rodent. If you act normal after the story I will be nice and act respectful to you. Otherwise rodent will be your new name. I have lived too long and through too many things to be talked to like that and do not appreciate it. I may look and feel like a teenager again, but I am roughly eighty one years old and have been far stronger than All Might. With some luck I'll be far stronger again.'' With that Natsu released some of the tension that had been in his body and in his voice, somewhat returning to normal.

For Izuku this was reason to also somewhat relax and he once again listened to what had happened to Natsu, even though he had heard it all before. The green haired boy never got enough of hearing about it and all the others that had come before him. Every time he heard it he remembered new details and Izuku had even managed to send a letter along with Natsu's correspondence. Even though they hadn't exactly answered his questions. What they had told him were stories of when Natsu had been that age before back in Fiore and the trouble he would get into, or how he had been taught half of the things he knew by Erza. With the story coming close to the entrance exam he tuned in a little bit more, hoping to get some more information than what he knew already from the principal when he was allowed to ask his questions.

As Natsu finished up his and somewhat Izuku's story they experienced a first, the principal did not know what to say. He had seen and met a lot of people with extraordinary powers from just the universe he lived in, but this was a new one. To have a mage send to his universe from the afterlife to prevent a suicide and help the would be victim to become a hero. If only to get a few favors in return and a new life on top of that. The reasons that he had been send were that he had similar powers and made friends easily as two of the main reasons were even more surprising to the animal. ''I get that you don't have anything planned against the country and have learned quite a bit from Izuku about how we use our powers here, but I still don't get why you didn't take more precautions.'' At that Natsu sighed and looked a bit sheepish. ''Well, I didn't have much time being dropped onto that rooftop and I might be a bit more impulsive than planning ahead?''

Causing the others in the room to facepalm and look at Natsu with something akin to exasperation. The principal at least cut in with something that they hadn't expected. ''At least that rules out that you were working with some of the known villains, even they wouldn't come up with something so exceptional. Once again a case of the truth being weirder than fiction.'' Animal instincts were telling the principal that the two boys and their mom, who had chipped in with some of the story were telling the truth. You don't figure out a story like that on the fly. Pressing a button on his desk he called for two things at the same time. Some refreshments and All Might. The latter of the two being not for the reasons people might think. He didn't need him to reassure these people, or throw them of the grounds. What he needed from the number one hero was for him to apologise to the young man sitting in front of his desk. If U.A. was going to take care of these two future heroes they needed him to at least face the fact of what he had almost caused.

When All Might entered the room with the drinks on a tray he looked who were there and swallowed loudly. There were possibly problems brewing, judging by the look on the principal's face. Gran Torino still scared All Might as only a harsh former teacher could. The principal on the other hand took that fear to a whole new level, not unlike an enraged parent could. The principal waited until All Might had put the tray with drinks down and tore into his new heroics teacher. ''What on earth were you thinking Toshinori? Telling a young man that there was no way he could become a hero. Ever thought what that could do to someone mentally, of course you didn't you muscle bound meathead. Mister 'I just punch my problems in the face' or let's not forget 'He could be working with All for One' Even though you have very well ended that villains life.'' Hearing the principal use the name Toshinori reminded both Natsu and Izuku of one of the first letters that had been send to them with instructions and one of the later ones as well.

As the fist letter had instructed them to tell Toshinori that Nana said she was proud of what he had become, but should smile more. That was before she had heard what All Might had said to Izuku, after that they had gotten the instruction to find someone named Gran Torino and have him visit Toshinori. That and telling said Toshinori that if he hever did something like that again she would resurrect herself and come over to kick his stupid ass. Finally having found the Toshinori in question as there weren't exactly a whole lot of people with that name they chipped in for their own two cents, or rather Izuku did as he felt he had the most right. ''All might sir, first of all, lose the muscles as these two know about your other form. Yes I told them, no I am not sorry, YOU NEARLY CAUSED ME TO FUCKING KILL MYSELF!'' Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself before launching into what he had been trying to say before all that he started again.

''Second a woman called Nana said she was proud of what you had become, but that you should smile more. In the true sense and not put up the front that you constantly have been. That was before she heard through Natsu here what you had said to me. After she heard that she made clear that we should tell you in no uncertain terms that 'if you pull such a stupid stunt again she will come back from the dead and smack you around myself'. The final thing she asked us to do was find someone named Gran Torino and say you needed a reminder of what happens when you fuck up royally.'' Still breathing fast from his rant Izuku and the three others could see the effects that the words had on the current number one hero of Japan and probably the entire world. His knees started shaking and tears started for form in his eyes as he deflated from what he looked like to the public. Fear, elation, confusion and more went over his face and finally he dropped onto a chair, his face in his hands.

Perhaps Izuku had been a bit harsh in his wording, or the way he delivered it even though All Might was still his personal hero and example. Number one fan might be the best way to describe it still, even though Izuku had had far less time to fanboy with all the training that Natsu had put him through. Natsu decided to put his two cents in as well. ''You do reaslise he is still your number one fan right? You just messed up big time, but there is time to fix this.'' Followed shortly by Inko. ''You are the reason he wanted to be a hero in the first place, I can not say how many times he has seen your debut video and what he asked me after. I am ashamed to admit that I did not support his dreams and had a part in his self image as well, but we're doing better now.'' Izuku had long since that one day about a year back forgiven his mom, who had only tried to be the best for her son and tried to keep him safe.

Walking over Izuku hugged his mom and looked at All Might again. ''All Might sir, I may have gone a little bit too far in my words, but I needed to say that. Sorry for tha..'' Being cut off from what he was trying to say to his idol by the principal was not something he expected. ''You've nothing to be sorry for young man, except maybe the swearing in those sentences, I couldn't have said it better myself. What do you have to say for yourself Toshinori?'' The tearful gaze now being aimed at the two teenagers instead of his hands All might started to speak how he had lost sight of what it meant to be a hero and how he should have never said any of that to Izuku. Why he shouldn't have said that he couldn't explain as he was still very much holding on to the secret of his quirk. Thankful that the teenagers, especially the pink haired boy didn't seem to know about All For One when the principal had mentioned him. Asking how they knew about Nana saw some more explanation heading All Might's way, even though it wasn't nearly everything. The threat of Gran Torino wasn't gone and he asked if they would kindly not tell him. To which the answer of the two boys was very simple. ''If your sensei thought you need a punishment like that, no way are we going to not tell him.''

A while later the three were headed back to the apartment they lived in, having explained and asked quite a few things when they were still in the principal's office. They had even been offered to get into the same class after the whole explanation, but they had not accepted. This was because even though they loved each other like brothers by now, they were best friends and rivals. They needed the drive that being in a different class brought with it. In doing so they heard that Natsu would be in class 1 A and Izuku would be in class 1 B. They had also spoken about the dorm system that the principal had been cooking up and Inko was not happy about that. Not happy at all, she liked having both boys at home. They brought life to her apartment and made sure she had a distraction when it was needed. She may not have cared about her husband for a long time, but it still was the father of her only born to her child. That she now had a second child only served to make her happier. With the promise of the principal thinking about it a bit more, or how it could be made better still ringing in their ears they arrived home.

An envelope was lying on the mat and the retour address that was on it caused the eyebrows of all three to fly into their hair. The retour address was the Ryukyu agency, which was not something they had expected. Inko guessed that Ryukyu had eyes and ears in U.A. that were looking and listening for potential students that showed promise. The contents of the letter were even more unexpected. The dragoon hero essentially told Izuku in not to be misunderstood terms that he would be invited to do his internship with her, no matter the results of the U.A. sports festival, or his aunt would get very mad at him. Which caused Inko to tell Izuku more about his dad's side of the family.

Before either of the three knew it, it was time for the first day of U.A. and whatever that may bring for the two teenagers.

That's where we're going to leave it for now. It was a rather hard chapter to write at times and yet some parts seemed to write themselves. Some things I only touched upon, yet some I continued more in depth I guess. As said before I try to upload once a month or more, depending on my life and inspiration. Please leave a review with what you think of the story so far and who either of the two boys should end up with. That and once more the question if Izuku should accept OFA. Have a great weekend
