Chapter 3: Meeting new pokemon and the start of a legend.

It was a beautiful morning in Pallet town. The Pokemon in Oak's ranch were all enjoying all different activities. The Pokemon of Ash were all excited to meet their new family members. But everyone wondered one thing, where was Charizard? They only saw the Lizard pokemon this morning for breakfast. But afterward, he disappeared.

"Where is that stupid lizard now," said Pidgeot.

Bulbasaur smiled, "He is probably doing his morning workout in the rocky fields. He does that now ever since he lost that fight against that Dragonite."

Primeape nodded, "That makes sense."

Though the fighting type never lost a match yet, he would also train as crazy if he ever lost a match. Professor Oak came outside with a stroller. There were 15 Pokeball's lying on it.

"Well, it seems Charizard is still doing his morning training, and Ash is still not awake yet. But how about I release your new pokemon friends anyway? Charizard and your trainer can meet them later."

The Pokemon cheered. They were so excited. The Professor released all 15 pokemon from their Pokeballs, and 15 different shapes began to take form. The first Pokemon was yellow with black stripes covering his body with two antennas and two spikes on his head. He had a humanoid body, and his feet had two sharp claws on the front, while on the back was one small claw. He had powerful strong-looking arms and a black and yellow tail.

"ELECTABUZZZ," screamed the Pokemon.

"Heh, looks like Pikachu will get some competition," said Pidgeot with a grin.

Bulbasaur nodded but was worried. After all, Electabuz' was a pokemon known for its temper and always trying to pick a fight with strong opponents. The second Pokemon that formed had some of the older pokemon sweat a bit.

"Oh crap, not that Pokemon. Big c is going to have a field day," said Squirtle.

Everyone who knew about this Pokemon nodded nervously. The Pokemon in question was a duck-like pokemon who had a yellow and red humanoid body. He had two yellow flames on top of his head and two red arms with five sharp claws. His long tail had a big red and yellow flame on top of it, and he had four red spikes that ran along his back. The other Pokemon could feel the heat from this Pokemon, and they all nervously moved a step back. Except for Electabuzz, he smirked. Finally, a challenge, he thought. The duck-like Pokemon let himself be heard by the crowd.

"MAGMARRR."

The third was a much smaller pokemon and had a purple body. He had big purple ears that were colored green inside. (I think it's green?) He had four legs with two claws, and he had three purple spikes on his back. On his purple body were three spots that were a bit darker in color. And he had a little horn on top of his head.

"Nido nido," said the small Nidoran.

Pidgeot smiled at the little Pokemon. He was so cute. The fourth Pokemon was a pokemon they all knew very well. Their trainer's friend also had one. It was a round pokemon with two big arms coming out of each side.

"Geodude," said the rock pokemon.

The fifth Pokemon was a pokemon they knew would make Misty jealous of Ash. The Pokemon had a white body, and his tail stuck out on each side, almost like a palm tree. He had two fins he use to move around, and he had a small horn on top of his head. The Pokemon smiled happily and clapped his fins together.

"Seel seel," he said.

That was one friendly Pokemon.

Squirtle smirked. "Oh yeah, water pokemon rule,"

The others sighed at the turtle's words. The sixth Pokemon made all the pokemon smile and laugh. It was a dog-like pokemon with an orange body with black stripes on its back and his two front legs. He had a furry tail that said Pokemon was trying to catch. He had fur that covered most of the front of his body, and on his head, he had cream-colored fluff.

"Grow Grow," barked the Growlithe, who was running in circles trying to grab his tail.

The nine other Pokemon that formed were all Pokemon they had heard of before but never saw. The first of the foreign Pokemon that formed made Bulbasaur smile. It had a light-green body with four stubby legs and a small tail on her back. The Pokemon had green spikes around her neck and a huge leaf on top of her head.

"Chico Chico," said Chikorita.

The second Pokemon looked like an echidna. He had dark blue fur that covered the back of his head, while his underside was light yellow. A huge flame projected from his back.

"Cyndaquil," said Cyndaquil in a sleepy voice.

The third was a pokemon that made all of them smile or laugh tears from their eyes. The Pokemon looked like a bipedal crocodile whose body was blue. He had a yellow V-shaped marking across his chest and red spikes down his back and tail. His mouth was filled with razor-sharp teeth. But the reason why the Pokemon were smiling, or some even laughing, did not have anything to do with what he looked like. It was what he was doing that made them smile and laugh. The crocodile pokemon was happily dancing around with a goofy smile on his face.

"Totodile," he said happily.

Squirtle spoke while he was wiping the tears from his eyes. "This guy is hilarious. Just his dancing alone is fun to watch. He should start his own show."

"I know," said Haunter, who was grinning. "I wonder if he has a manager."

The fourth Pokemon was an owl-like pokemon. His body was yellow (or gold), and he had six downside triangles on his body. His wings were red on the outside and yellow on the inside. He had a red tail and two cream-colored horns that looked like eyebrows. The owl pokemon flew in the closest tree when it was released and sat on a branch.

"Hoo Hoo," it spoke.

Pidgeot smiled at her fellow bird pokemon. She was glad Ash had another flying type on the team. The fifth Pokemon looked like a small blue elephant and looked so adorable. It had two red pads on both ears and another big red pad on his snout.

"Phanpy phanp," it said happily. ("Yes, I know Phanpy in anime is hatched from an egg. But not in this story)

The next two Pokemon made Primeape smirk. The first of the two was a large blue-winged bipedal beetle. It had a capsule-shaped thorax and two clawed arms and feet. A large T-shaped horn was growing from its head that was flanked on either side by a smaller antenna.

"Heracross," the bug/fighting type said.

The second one was a black and blue dog-like pokemon. Its legs and torso were colored black, and its head, lower body, and tail were blue. There were large rounded bumps on the back of its forepaws, and he had a black mask with two black appendages on either side.

"Riolu," the fighting Pokemon said with a prideful look in his eyes.

Primeape could not be happier. Two more fighting types on the team. He could not wait to spar with them. The two final Pokemon were completely different from each other. The first one was a mix between a black cat and a weasel with sharp claws. Its tail was made of red feathers, and its left ear was a similar single feather, only a bit bigger. It also had a yellow-orange oval-shaped gem on its chest and forehead.

"Sneasel," it said with a grin. The Pokemon gave all the other Pokemon a look.

The others sweatdropped. Oh no, they knew that look. It was the same look Squirtle had when he was going to prank somebody.

Bulbasaur sighed, "oh, Arceus, why."

Squirtle smirked at the cat/weasel-type pokemon, and he nodded. Finally, a pranking buddy, this was going to be fun. Sneasel looked at the turtle pokemon, and she smirked also. The beginning of a beautiful friendship had begun. The last Pokemon was a pokemon they never saw or heard from before. It was small. It looked like an ancient bug with two sharp claws hanging from the front of his body. On each side of its body, there were four feathery white-red wings. A stalk extended from either side of its head, with large, spherical eyes at the tips. The Pokemon looked around, confused.

"Anorith," it said confusingly.

"What pokemon is that," said Tauros intrigued.

"Beats me," said Primeape. "In all my life, I never heard or saw a pokemon like that."

The other Pokemon nodded.

Professor Oak smiled. "Why don't you all get to know your new teammates. I'm sure your new trainer will arrive soon."

The Professor walked back to the lab to begin his daily research. All of Ash pokemon began to greet their new family members. Electabuzz walked in Magmar's direction with a smirk on his face. Magmar looked at the electric Pokemon with a look of confusion.

"What do you want?"

"What do you think," he said with a challenging grin. "You are strong, aren't you," he said.

Magmar, who began to figure out what this Electabuzz was up to, sighed.

"Maybe I am, but we are team members now, aren't we? Besides, our new trainer is not here yet, and I don't think he would like to see his new pokemon fight against each other."

Electabuzz snorted. "Oh please, that's just an excuse for you not willing to fight me.

Maybe you're not as strong as you made yourself out to be. Maybe your just a little scaredy-cat."

Magmar got a tickmark on his face. He did not mind being called a scaredy-cat. He knew Electabuzz was just saying that to provoke him. But to insult his strength, something he was very proud of was something he could not ignore. The temperature surrounding Magmar began to rise. Grass began to get scorched by the heat that the duck pokemon was releasing.

Electabuzz grinned. "Did something I say got your panty's in a twist."

A glare was the response he got. "I can not allow your insult against my strength to go unpunished. Either apologize or face the consequences of your actions."

Electabuzz smirked. "Yeah, I don't think so, buddy." Lightning began to appear around his body.

"Hey, stop! you guys can't fight each other," said Bulbasaur.

The two Pokemon looked at the small Pokemon who stopped their fight. One looked annoyed, and the other had no emotion on his face.

"Get lost, buddy, before I shock you instead," said Electabuzz.

Bulbasaur got mad. "You're are all family now, and family does not fight each other."

"Family," said Magmar confused. "What do you mean?"

The other new Pokemon were also confused.

"Our trainer Ash treats every Pokemon he caught with love and kindness. And he sees us as family and friends. And there is one rule I will not tolerate that is fighting between family members."

The other new Pokemon had awed expressions on their face. Their new trainer sounded too good to be true. Magmar's awe turned into a soft smile. His last owner treated him with respect, but love was something he was not familiar with. Sure his old friend John who retired from being a park ranger because of an injury, treated him well, but with love and like a family? No, John treated him more like a training partner than family. Magmar must admit he was rather intrigued by the concept of family. Electabuzz awed face suddenly went back to annoyance. Thinking about the two trainers he had before. The first trainer who caught wanted nothing to do with battling. He wanted to become a breeder, and every time he fought with a pokemon he got scolded by him. The second one was even worst. Always painting, he never got the chance to become stronger. They all traded him away, all because of his desire to fight stronger Pokemon. Family my ass.

"Tch family, yeah right," he said, annoyed. "Like I care about that. Besides, I know how humans are. One minute they capture you, and then as soon as you know it, they will either abandon you or trade you for another pokemon. They are all the same," Electabuzz said with an angry look on his face.

Ash pokemon began to get mad at what that Electabuzz said.

"Daddy is not like that at all, you big meanie," said the young Lapras.

They all nodded.

Electabuzz snorted. "Whatever, kid, I know how humans really can be. And It's something I don't want to discuss with somebody as young as you."

Lapras pouted.

"Enough distractions. I don't care about this family business." Electabuzz smirked. "So long I can get to fight strong opponents that excite me, I will be satisfied."

The other Pokemon sighed.

"Oh great, another guy who thinks more with his fists than with his brain," said Pidgeot.

"Hey," said Primeape, who looked insulted. "There is no reason to be so rude, you know."

Then Primeape turned his attention towards Electabuzz. "Besides," he said with a smirk. "Except for his attitude, he has a passion for getting stronger by fighting powerful opponents. That is something I can relate to. I'm sure with time he will change and come to love and respect Ash as we do."

"I hope you are right," said Pidgeot.

Bulbasaur looked at Electabuzz with a frown on his face. It was like talking with Charizard before he changed. A pain in the ass. Then the grass type looked at Magmar him hopefully to reason with the spitfire pokemon.

"And what about you? You look like a Pokémon with his head on his shoulders. There is no reason for you two to fight."

Magmar looked at the small Pokémon with a soft smile.

"Thank you for the compliment. Normally I would agree with you, and I would rather not fight among teammates. However." Magmar's smile disappeared, and a serious look was in its place instead.

The area around Magmar became even hotter, and Bulbasaur had to take a few steps back not to get affected by the heat.

"This young one dared to insult my strength, something I am very proud of. I will not let this go unpunished."

Electabuzz smirked, "you heard him shorty. So instead of getting in our way, why don't you be good little grass type and stand aside before you get hurt."

Bulbasaur got a tickmark on his face by the comment that Electabuzz said to him. Big Pokémon consistently underestimated him because of his stature. He may be short, but he fought enough battles against larger opponents and came out on top. He glared at the Electabuzz with an angry look on his face.

Squirtle swallowed nervously. "Oh crap, Bulbasaur is getting pissed right now."

All of Ash Pokémon nervously agreed. Bulbasaur was usually a nice and calm Pokémon. But when he became angry, let's just say it won't end well for his opponent. Squirtle would know from experience. He once pranked Bulbasaur very hard. He painted the grass type completely pink. Sure it was a masterpiece of a prank. Everybody laughed at it. Even the grumpy Charmeleon back then cracked a smile. But Bulbasaur was not amused. He was downright pissed. The pain he inflicted on Squirtle that day was something the turtle Pokémon would not soon forget. After that, everybody agreed never to piss Bulbasaur off again, and pranks against Bulbasaur were off the table. Bulbasaur was livid. Frankly, he was pissed. The glare he gave Electabuzz was enough to let the electric pokemon swallow nervously.

Why did this Pokémon make him rethink his actions? Behind the grass type, Electabuzz saw an image of a fearsome Entei, ready to tear him to shreds. Magmar looked at grass type nervously. Uh oh, this won't end well for that Electabuzz, he thought. But before Bulbasaur could attack, he and the rest of the Pokémon heard a voice that stopped the grass type right in his tracks.

"That's enough Bulbasaur, don't let this little hatchling get under your skin."

All the Pokémon in the area looked at the owner of the voice. There standing a few feet away, stood a Charizard with a frown on his face. The old Pokémon sighed in relief. Hopefully, Charizard will be able to calm Bulbasaur down a bit. Cyndaquil, Growlithe, and even Magmar looked amazed at the fire type. The aura surrounding him screamed power, and it was something all the fire types wish to have someday.

Bulbasaur frowned at the fire type. "Don't get in my way Charizard. I tried to be a friendly and nice Pokémon, and then this little hatchling had the nerve to insult me. If you get in my way stronger or not, I will kick your ass too."

All the new Pokémon got scared of the little grass-type reaction. Her fellow grass type dumbfounded Chikorita. Doesn't he know their types are weak against fire? Not to mention he was much smaller than Charizard. What gave him the idea he could kick this guy's ass?

Charizard snorted. "You know very well I don't give a crap about you fighting that arrogant hatchling. If It were any other day, I would simply let you deal with it."

Charizard smirked. "As for you kicking my ass, we will have to find out one of these days, won't we?"

Bulbasaur glared at the fire type. "I'll be more than happy to show you," he said challengingly.

Electabuzz sweatdropped. "And he was talking not a few minutes ago that family members are not suppose to fight each other," he whispered towards Magmar.

Electabuzz completely forgot about his challenge against Magmar. His attention was completely focused on Bulbasaur and Charizard. Magmar sighed at Electabuzz's short attention span.

"If you didn't insult Bulbasaur in the first place, we wouldn't be in this situation right now."

Electabuzz embarrassedly scratched his head. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Charizard sighed at his friend. "As I said before, Bulbasaur, this isn't the right time for us to be fighting." Charizard looked at the grass typer with a questionably look.

"You do remember what day it is today, right? We are going on our training journey and challenge the Silver Conference. Or did you forgot about that?"

Magmar, Electabuzz, and all the other new Pokemon all looked intrigued by the fire type's words. Training journey? Challenging the Silver Conference?

Bulbasaur's anger completely vanished. "Oh crap, that's right!"

Bulbasaur's personality went back to the responsible leader that all the older Pokemon knew him as.

"Charizard, can you get the polite Magmar and this Neandertal up to speed. I'll inform the other ones."

"Heyyy," said Electabuzz feeling insulted.

Magmar chuckled at the Electric-type.

Charizard nodded. "No problem, leave it to me."

Bulbasaur smiled at his long-time friend. "Thanks, Charizard, and sorry for losing my temper like that."

"Heh, don't mention it. You guys had to go through much worst with me back in my rebellious stage."

Bulbasaur smiled in gratitude and walked towards the other new Pokemon.

"Excuse me," said the Magmar politely. But what do you mean about going on a training journey?

Electabuzz nodded. "Yeah, and what's this talk about challenging a silver conscience?"

Charizard and Magmar sighed at the Electric-type use of words.

"First of all hatchling, it's called the Silver Conference. And it's a fighting tournament in Johto where trainers fight against other trainers to find out who is the best. The winner of the tournament will have a chance to fight the elite four and Champion of that region. The elite four and especially the Champion are considered to be the strongest trainers of Johto."

Charizard looked at the spitfire pokemon, his memory when he challenged that Magmar on Cinnebar Island came rushing back. He could not wait to test this Magmar strength.

"As for your question, we are going on a training journey to toughen ourselves up. As in preparations for the Gym Leaders and the league."

Magmar looked determined. A chance to improve his skill and to get even stronger. Not only that, but he had the opportunity to fight the strongest Pokemon of Johto? Electabuzz had an excited grin on his face. A chance to fight even more powerful opponents. Now, this was something the electric Pokemon could get excited for. Suddenly Electabuzz got a confused look on his face.

"Wait a sec, what do you mean by Gym leaders?"

His old trainer never talked about these things. One guy was always grooming his pokemon, while the other was obsessed with his stupid paintings. Magmar himself had heard of gym challenges before, But John didn't quite go into detail about them. With his job as a park ranger, his former friend did not have much time to talk about it.

Charizard sighed. "I will tell you in more detail what Gym leaders are, okay?"

They both nodded.

"Now, in every region, there are a total of 8 major Gym leaders. There are also a few minor gyms scattered across the region you could challenge. But that's only if you can't defeat any of the major ones."

Charizard smirked. "Besides, knowing our trainer, he would rather challenge the more powerful ones."

Magmar nodded in approval. Electabuzz smirked. Heh, maybe this Ash isn't so bad after all, he thought.

"Now, after defeating a Gym Leader, the trainer is awarded by getting a Gym badge. And only after defeating 8 Gyms will you have the permission to challenge the Silver Conference."

Magmar nodded at the fire-type explanation. "I see, so before we can enter the Silver conference, we have to obtain these eight badges somehow first. How long will this training journey last exactly?"

"The training Journey will last for ten months," said Charizard.

Magmar looked shocked. "10 MONTHS! But how are we able to get those Gym badges in time? So far as I know, the human body is not capable of flight or high-speed movement. The Aura Guardians of old were the only humans I have heard of that could travel that distance in such a short amount of time."

Electabuzz, who was confused, spoke. "Aura Guardians? What the hell are those?"

Magmar and even Charizard looked stunned at the electric-type.

"Seriously? You never heard about the legend about Sir Aaron and his actions of saving the world?"

Electabuzz shrugged. "Can't say that I have. Was he strong?"

Charizard nodded. "Of course, he was strong. Sir Aaron was the first Aura Guardian and human who succeeded in wielding aura and mastering it to such a degree that he could fight hordes of Pokemon for countless days. There was even a rumor Sir Aaron fought a legendary pokemon all by himself and came out on top."

"WHAT! A HUMAN MASTERING AURA!"

They both nodded.

"I'm surprised you never heard of this legend before? Parents normally tell their kids about when they are very young. How come you never heard of it before," said Magmar.

Electabuzz, who got over his surprise, shrugged his shoulders. "Meh, I didn't listen much when I was a kid. I mostly spent my days as an Elekid training to get stronger."

Electabuzz smiled at those memories. Ahh, the amount of time it took back then to master his thundershock was frustrating sometimes. But the moment he mastered his first electric move was something he would cherish for life.

Magmar sighed. "Why I can understand the need to get stronger, at least try to pay more attention in the future."

Electabuzz snorted. "Yeah yeah, I will, okay, jeez, don't get your panties in a twist, Duckbutt."

Magmar got a tickmark on his face. "Your one to talk neandertal."

Electabuzz glared at the fire-type. "Hey, watch it fire brain before I give you some lightning therapy."

Magmar glared back. "At least I have a brain, which regrettably we can't say the same about you."

"ENOUGH!"

The two Pokemon and even the other Pokemon in the area looked surprised at the owner's voice. Charizard was glaring at the two Pokemon.

"If you both are done with your silly game, I would rather finish my explanation before our trainer arrives."

They nodded meekly.

Squirtle laughed. "Oh boy, big c is certainly laying it on thick."

Primeape smirked. "Those two need some discipline. Well, mostly that Electabuzz."

Haunter nodded. "Yes, that's true, but then again, I must say I never expected Charizard to be such assertive in his approach. Who would have thought that little timid Charmander would grow up and be such a badass?"

Pidgeot sighed. "And he used to be so shy and cute."

"Now, as for your question Magmar. We will be able to travel such distances thanks to her." Charizard pointed at Pidgeot.

"She is the fastest on our team besides Pikachu. Such distances will be a cakewalk for her."

Magmar looked at the flying type with new respect.

Electabuzz smirked. "Heh, so you guys have a Pikachu on your team. Where is he?"

Before Charizard could respond, he heard his trainer's voice.

"Hey everyone, I'm back."

All the old and new Pokemon turned around and saw Ash with Pikachu on his shoulder. He wore some new clothes that Charizard approved of. Misty, Brock, Tracy, Delia, and Professor Oak were all standing beside him. When Misty saw Seel and Totodile, she got sparkles in her eyes.

"Oh gosh, you have a Seel and a Totodile. I'm so jealous of you, Ash."

Seel clapped her fins together in happiness while Totodile began to dance in joy.

When Brock saw the Geodude, he grinned. "That Geodude looks like it's been raised well."

Ash smiled at his new Pokemon. He began to walk in their direction. He saw a Magmar and an Electabuzz standing near Charizard. He began to meet and greet each new Pokemon with a smile on his face. Thanks to some late research he did before he went to bed, Ash recognized all the new Pokemon he saw. He was surprised he got the three starters of Johto in his trade. Those were rare. Why would people trade their starter pokemon with something common as a Taurus? When he saw the Noctowl, he was amazed by its colors. A shiny? He got a shiny pokemon. Ash could not believe his luck. Why would anybody in their freaking mind trade a shiny Noctowl for a Tauros? A Phanphy, a Heracross, a Sneasel, and a Riolu. He then saw a pokemon he didn't recognize. What kind of Pokemon was that? He took his Pokedex that Professor Oak upgraded for him yesterday. He began to scan the little bug-like Pokemon.

"Anorith, the Old Shrimp Pokemon. This primitive Pokémon once lived in the primordial sea. It would grip its prey firmly between its two large claws. Anorith can swim swiftly by pulling its eight wings through the water like oars on a boat. This Pokémon is an ancestor of modern bug Pokémon."

"Wow, that's so cool," said Ash.

The little bug type began to blush by his new trainer's words.

Pikachu jumped from his trainer's shoulder and ran towards Charizard. He stopped right in front of one of the new Pokemon. He grinned at his fellow electric-type.

"Wow, I never thought that Ash would get another electric type on his team. Nice ta meetcha," said the yellow mouse.

Electabuzz nodded. "Yeah, likewise."

The electric Pokemon wasn't sure if this Pikachu was strong enough to challenge him. He was tiny, even tinier than Bulbasaur. But if that Pikachu was anything like that Bulbasaur, he rather not risk getting into another argument. After Ash introduced himself to his new Pokemon, he walked back towards Professor Oak.

"Well, Ash, it looks like you adore your new pokemon."

Ash smiled. "Yeah, they are amazing, Professor. Oh, by the way, you said you wanted to give me something?"

Oak nodded. "Ah yes, I nearly forgot. Tracy can bring the thing we talked about this morning."

Tracy had a big smile on his face. "Sure, Professor."

Ash looked confused. He wondered what Professor wanted to give him?

"While Tracy is getting your surprise, how about, I give you this." He gave Ash a package with different kinds of stones and items. Ash looked shocked.

"Those are evolution stones, aren't they?"

Professor Oak nodded. "Yes, and those items are special items to evolve your Sneasel, Magmar, and Electabuzz even further if they want to. Though for, Sneasel, make sure it's nighttime when she is holding it okay. As for your Geodude, when you wanna evolve him into his final stage, contact me, and we will do a trade, okay."

Ash wasn't sure how to respond to the gifts he got. He smiled at the Pokemon Professor.

"Thank you so much, Professor Oak."

Samuel chuckled. "No thanks are needed, my boy. Besides, you haven't received your real gift yet."

"Huh, what do you mean?"

"Sorry, it took so long, professor."

Everybody looked at Tracy, who was walking towards Ash with an egg in his hands. Ash was again shocked.

"Professor, is that egg for me?"

Samuel nodded. "Yep, it certainly is. It will probably hatch any day now, so take good care of it, okay."

Ash nodded with a smile. "I will, Professor Oak."

Ash looked closely at the egg. It was a normal white egg, but it had two blue claw-like patterns on it. When Brock saw the egg, he gasped. Being a breeder, he came in contact with many eggs. And this egg was something the breeder recognized immediately.

"I-is that a..."

Misty looked confused at his friend. "Brock, what's wrong? Do you know which Pokemon will hatch from this egg?"

Brock nodded. "Yeah, I do. But, Professor, how did you get your hands on such a rare egg."

Samuel laughed. "Let's just say this egg belonged to a friend of mine, and he wanted me to find the perfect trainer for it."

Professor Oak smiled at Ash. "And I'm certain Ash is the perfect choice for raising this egg."

Ash didn't know what to say. He was already grateful for the evolution stones and items. But now, he also had a Pokemon egg that he could take care of. "I won't let you down, Professor," said Ash with a smile. "I will take really good care of it."

Samuel chuckled. "I know you will, my boy, and I'm sure the Pokemon will be an excellent addition to your team."

Brock and Misty gave Ash each a present to Ash. Brock gave Ash a book about cooking. And Misty gave Ash a fishing rod. Ash thanked them both.

"Ash," said Delia. "This came in the mail today for you."

Ash took the brown package and a white envelope from his mother and looked at them with confusion.

"Who is it from?"

Delia chuckled. "Read the letter, sweety, and you will find out. Although, I think I have a good guess from who it is."

Ash shrugged his shoulders. He placed the package on the ground and opened the envelope. When he saw who it was, he was shocked.

"Ash, what's wrong? From who is it," said Brock?

Ash's shocked face suddenly turned happy. "It's from Uncle Vince."

Samuel and Delia had both soft smiles on their faces. They knew it was only a matter of time before Vincent would send a message to Ash.

"What does he say, Ash," said Misty curiously?

Ash began to read the letter out loud.

"To my dear Nephew Ash. I don't know if your mother told you about me, as I asked her to keep it a secret. Please don't be angry with your mother. The reason I never contacted or visited you was because of my own reasons. I became a different man after I lost my brother all those years ago. I didn't even go to his funeral, a decision I still regret until this day. The thought of going back to Pallet town scared me. It hurt so much losing your dad. Going back to see all those people made me even more cowardly. I just could not face them anymore. Your mother, Delia, is a strong woman. She must have felt even more pain than me when Richard died. Yet, she held firm and raised you all on her own. I wish I had the same courage she had."

Delia had a slight smile on her face. Vincent, you big dummy. You were the one who sent us money each month. Without your help, I could have never taken such good care of Ash, Delia thought.

"I hope that you can forgive me, Ash. If you ever have the time and are close to Viridian City, you are always welcome in my Gym. I will tell you all about the adventures I shared with your father."

Ash smiled at that.

"Now, let's get back to why I sent this letter to you in the first place. Happy Birthday my boy. You are already 12 years old, aren't you? The gifts I send you are a tool that hopefully will help on your journey to becoming a strong trainer. The bracelet I sent you has a keystone inside of it. The others are called mega stones."

Professor Oak gasped at the news.

"The bracelet with the keystone is for you. The others are for a few of your Pokémon. They have the ability to evolve some of your Pokémon to a stronger form. Although, it's only temporary."

Ash looked shocked at the news. A way to evolve your Pokémon even higher? That was something Ash never heard of before.

"Now, before I forget. All these are powerful tools. But to make them work, you have to have a strong bond with your Pokémon. Otherwise, it won't work. Now, so far, I have only six mega stones to give you. One for your Pidgeot."

The bird smirked at that. This was going to be interesting, thought Pidgeot.

"One for your Haunter when he's evolved into a Gengar."

Haunter had a grin on his face. I wonder what I will look like? I hope it's something funny, the ghost Pokemon thought.

"And the last four are for your three starters. Although, just like your Haunter, your starters need to be in their final stage of evolution for it to work."

Bulbasaur, Squirtle frowned at the news. They looked at each other. It was always a complicated subject for the two starters. In the past, many of their old trainers wanted to force them to evolve. Ash wasn't like that, fortunately. They weren't ready to evolve back then. But the last couple of weeks, the grass and water starter talked about it a lot. They loved Ash, and Ash supported their decision not to evolve. They wanted nothing more than make Ash's dreams a reality. For that to happen, they needed to become a lot stronger. They both nodded to each other. Maybe it was time for them to evolve on this journey.

"Now, as for your Charizard. It has the possibility of changing into two forms instead of one."

Charizard looked intrigued at the information. Two forms? He wonders what kind?

"In the first form, he stays a fire/flying type. But, his ability changes from blaze to drought."

Charizard smirked. Drought was an ability to power up his fire-type moves. Which was perfect for him.

"And his second form, he's able to become a fire/dragon type and gains the ability tough claws."

Charizard snorted. A dragon type? No, thanks. He was proud of his species. He wasn't going to become something he's not. Besides, he didn't like being associated with dragons, especially since his last fight against that Dragonite a few months ago. He was going to prove to the entire world that fire types reign supreme.

"As for the rest of your Pokemon that can Mega evolve, their types stay the same, but their abilities change as well. Your Blastoise gets the ability, Mega launcher, and your Venusaur gets thick fat."

Bulbasaur sighed. Thick fat, really? He loved his ability overgrow. But then again. Thick fat was a helpful ability to have. Squirtle smirked. He didn't know what ability mega launcher had, but damm, it sounded so cool.

"Your Pidgeot gets the ability, Big Pecks."

(Yeah, I know its ability is no guard. But I'm not too fond of it. Big Beck's is so much better.)

Pidgeon nodded at the ability. It was certainly an excellent ability to have. She loved her ability, keen eye, and the effects it had. But having the ability so your opponent in battle can't lower her defense was super useful to have.

"And lastly, your Gengar gets the ability shadow tag."

Haunted rubbed his hands in glee. Oh, he was going to have so much fun with that ability. Preventing your opponents from fleeing from a battle was right up his alley.

"Well, Ash, I think that's all I have to say. I'll be pretty busy these couple of months. But I will make sure to root for you in the Silver Conference in Johto. How do I know, you say? Well, let's say I have a gut feeling you will show up. Become strong, Ash. Know that your father would be very proud of you, as am I.

Uncle Vincent."

Ash didn't know what to say. A few tears flowed from his eyes. But he had a slight smile on his face.

"Thanks, uncle Vince."

Delia hugged her son. "Are you okay, sweetie?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, mom. It's just a lot to take in."

"Yes," said Delia. "I understand that."

"Although, I am happy that uncle Vince finally sent me a letter. And that he is proud of me."

After a few minutes of silence, Professor Oak began to speak.

"So Ash. I forgot to tell you that I increased the limit of how many Pokemon you can take with you. Usually, the limit is six for rookie trainers. But with your accomplishments, I made sure to increase the number to twelve."

"Thank's professor oak. That will be a challenge. But I can bond much more manageable with my new Pokemon that way."

"You're welcome, my boy. Now have you decided which Pokemon you are going to take with you?"

Ash nodded. "Yeah, I did. From my old team, I'm going to take Pikachu, Pidgeot, Primeape, Haunter, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charizard with me."

The old Pokemon smiled at each other. It was going to be fun traveling again after such a long time. If only Butterfree were here, they all thought with a sigh.

Ash looked at his new Pokemon. "Mmm, as for my new Pokemon. I think I'm going to take Riolu, Electabuz, Magmar, and Anorith with me. I leave the final place open for debate."

"Ah, I see. Well, You can always use your Pokedex to swap your Pokemon."

Ash nodded. "I know. I'm planning to rotate my Pokemon every few weeks."

Ash said goodbye to his mom and friends, giving each of them a hug. He returned all his Pokemon that he decided to bring with him in his Pokeballs. Except for Pikachu and Pidgeot.

"Okay, girl," Ash said to his first flying type. "It's time to go to our first stop in our training journey.

ONWARD TO THE SEAFOAM ISLANDS," Ash Yelled loudly with a big smile on his face.

Pidgeot smiled at her trainer's Excited behavior. With a great flap of her wings, the bird took in incredible speed towards their destination.

It was freezing. The temperature must have been minus five degrees. The harsh cold winds in these antarctic islands must be a paradise for water and ice-type Pokemon. In one of these caves, a boy who looked to be twelve was doing push-ups with a big monkey Pokemon on top of him.

"Almost there, have to do at least a few more," said the boy while breathing harshly.

This boy was Ash. It has already been four weeks since he arrived at these winter islands. During those weeks, he trained all his pokemon and himself to the limit. Ash decided to train alongside his Pokemon. He didn't want his Pokemon to feel lonely after all. Besides, it was good training. Ash already felt the improvements of training in these harsh climates. Not only for himself but for his pokemon too. His Haunter evolved a week ago. What surprised him more was the sudden evolution of Squirtle and Bulbasaur. He sure was surprised when that happened. His Little Anorith also gotten a lot tougher. Bonding with the little prehistoric Bug Pokemon was a fun thing to do.

Ash finally finished his workout.

"Phew, that was tough. Thanks for the help Primeape."

The monkey grinned at his trainer and nodded. He was very proud of Ash's determination of wanting to become stronger. Ash suddenly felt something touching his leg. He looked down and smiled at the little pokemon.

"Hey girl, are finished with your training?"

It was a small serpentine pokemon with a blue body and a white underside. It had white, three-pronged fins on the sides of its head and a white bump on its forehead. Above its round and white snout were oval, purple eyes.

"Tini," the little dragon-type said happily.

Ash chuckled at the little dragon type. He certainly was surprised when his egg hatched and this little guy came out. He picked her up in his arms.

"How about we get to our camp? It's almost dinner time. The others should also be finished with their training."

The two nodded. They were quite famished. Primeape finished his training routine earlier today. He sparred against the little fighting type Riolu. He certainly had potential, that's for sure. He also felt amazing improvements. Training in these harsh environments certainly had made the pig Pokemon stronger. Not to mention all those special training exercises his trainer came up with. The cavern they were training in was huge. Their camp was situated in the deepest part. Where a lot of ice types lived. When they arrived at their campsite, they saw a funny sight. Electabuz was sleeping with a bubble on his nose.

"No, no more flamethrowers. I don't wanna," whispered Electabuz in his sleep.

Magmar was sitting next to him. He chuckled at the electric pokemon's behavior. Charizard, who was still practicing his flamethrower on nearby boulders, smirked. Pikachu, who was practicing his new move iron tail, looked at the fire lizard with a sweatdrop.

"What the hell did you do to this little hatchling?"

Charizard snorted. "Nothing much. Just the usual, like always. Though I asked Magmar to help me in this guy's training."

Pidgeot, who was working on her new move steel wing, spoke up. "I'm afraid to ask. But what did you exactly do?"

"Miss. Pidgeot," said Magmar. Electabuz wanted to train his fire resistance like always. But he wanted the training to be harsher. So Charizard asked for my assistance. As you can see for yourself, the idiot bit more than he could chew. Especially when he asked to shoot our most powerful flamethrower at him at the same time."

Ivysaur, who was taking a small break from his training, sighed at the electric pokemon's stupidity.

"When will that hatchling ever learn his limits?"

Wartortle snickered. He was practicing his new move called aqua jet. "I think It's kind of funny," said the water type.

Gengar suddenly appeared behind the newly evolved pokemon. "Did somebody say Funny?"

"Holy crap, Gengar, don't do that. You nearly gave me a heart attack," said the Wartortle with a glare.

The ghost pokemon let out a chuckle. "Whoops, my bad. Sorry about that, Wartortle."

A bit further ahead, we saw a little dog pokemon leaning against a huge rock. Riolu was tired. The fighting type was amazed by his senior's strength. The sparring match they did earlier today made Riolu realize how much farther he still had to go. The small little bug type Anorith was in full concentration. He was trying to perfect his new move that his trainer showed him how to do. Huge rocks with a purple aura surrounding them rose up from the ground. They levitated above the small bug pokemon's head.

"ANCIENT POWER," screamed Anorith.

The rocks flew with fast speeds towards an icicle boulder that shattered into pieces.

"Yes, I finally did it," said the little bug type.

The others smiled at Anorith.

"The little tyke sure has come a long way," said Wartortle with a grin.

Ivysaur smiled. "That, he did."

"Hello everyone, we are back," said Ash.

The other pokemon smiled at their trainer when they saw him.

Ash smiled. "You guys are probably starving. So, how about I start preparing dinner?"

All the pokemon cheered. Even Electabuz, who woke up, began to cheer. While Ash was preparing the food, a huge flapping of wings was heard. It suddenly became also a bit colder in the cavern. The pokemon and Ash were used to it, though. Ash looked up and smiled at the legendary bird Articuno. They met about three weeks ago. Ash was amazed by the ice-type beauty. All the other pokemon too. Articuno was first suspicious of Ash. Finding a human in her lair was not something the ice type was fond of. She encountered many humans in her life who tried to catch her. Even Poachers. But when she looked closer at the boy, Articuno recognized Ash. He was the boy she rescued in that snowstorm a year and a half ago. Not only that, but he also saved her niece and her sibling from that maniac who captured them a few months ago. Articuno frowned. Her little niece told her all about it. How some maniac tried to capture her and her siblings. And how a boy with black hair and brown eyes who had a Pikachu saved them. All to catch Lugia, the guardian of the seas. What an idiot some humans were. Luckily enough, it wasn't the guardian of Kanto's and Jotho's seas that showed up. But the guardian of the Orange Islands. She shivered. If that Lugia showed up, her little niece and nephew might not be here anymore. His power was on another level. But, it was all thanks to Ash's actions that the disaster was avoided. So, he was the chosen one. The one that Arceus made a prophecy about so many eons ago. The one who will save the world from many calamities. After a few days of watching Ash, she saw that the boy was very compassionate towards his pokemon. After their daily training, he always played with the younger hatchlings, and he made sure that all his pokemon got enough rest. He treated them with love and kindness, something that was not found in many humans. She warmed up quickly to the kind-hearted boy. Ash even invited her to lunch. And damm, it was good.

"Hey Articuno, how was your evening flight?"

Articuno rubbed her head affectionately against Ash. He was such a nice boy telling her how her day was. If only Ash were a Pokemon. Ash chuckled at the Legendary pokemon's affection towards him.

"You are just in time. I'm almost done with the food. You're welcome to join us."

Articuno nodded. She walked towards Pidgeot. She became good friends with flying type over the three weeks. A few minutes later, everybody was enjoying a good meal. Ash was very thankful for Brock's cookbook. Without it, Ash would never have become such good at cooking. Sure, he may not be as good as Brock or even his mother. But that was fine. He wasn't going to become a chef after all. After they all had finished eating, Ash decided to speak. "Okay, guys, we have been training for four weeks, and we have made amazing progress. I think it's time to swap some of you out so you can take some time off and rest for a bit."

They all nodded.

Electabuz cheered. "Yes, no more flamethrowers."

"But, just because you aren't here doesn't mean you can take it easy. Keep working on perfecting your new moves and training your bodies okay."

The Pokemon nodded seriously. They weren't going to slack off.

Another four weeks had passed. The Pokemon Ash decided to train these past four weeks was his new Johto team and a few of his new Kanto pokemon. The training routine he made them go through certainly paid off big time. His three starters already evolved in their second stage. Croconaw was very difficult to train at the beginning. The little Aligator had a slow attention span. And when he was distracted, the water type suddenly started dancing. After a few errors, the Aligator finally started to take his training more seriously. After he got defeated by Cyndacuil, a fire type his pride had taken a hit. Totodile decided that his dancing can wait. With new resolve, it took the water type only two weeks to evolve in his second stage. Cyndacuil and Chikorita evolved much sooner though. Cyndacuil had always a sleepy look on his face. Though, when it came to training the Echidna was always raring to go. Chikorita was shy in the beginning. But during the time she spend training with Ash, she warmed up to him became quite affectionate. The three Johto starters had certainly a lot of potential.

His Phanpy also evolved a week ago. Donphan was one of the most powerful attackers on his Johto team. In physical strength, the only one Dophan couldn't beat was his Heracross. His Heracross was very strong. But the bug/fighting type needed a lot of training since he had so many weaknesses: fire, ice, flying, rock, and psychic attacks. But, luckily their new friend Articuno was more than happy to help Ash out. Her power was amazing. It made that other Articuno he met on the Orange islands seem like a newborn. It certainly helped with the ice resistance training.

Training his Noctowl was a bit challenging. It didn't have the natural speed that his Pidgeot possessed. Though, it had incredible maneuverability. And although Noctowl was a normal/flying type. It could learn a lot of Psychic attacks. He even could learn a move he never heard of before. Moonblast.

Ash was shocked by this revelation. Moonblast was a fairy-type move. It was effective against dark, fighting, and even dragon attacks. Not only that, but it looked like fairy types were completely immune against dragons. While looking through his updated Pokedex, he found out that fairy types were only recently have been discovered by a Professor in the Kalos region. Not many trainers knew about it yet since it hasn't been publicly announced. Ash only knew about it because Professor Oak updated his Pokedex with this information. Pure fairy types had two major weaknesses; Poison and steel type attacks. Ash smirked. A lot of his pokemon had steel types moves. His Pikachu had his Iron tail, Pidgeot and Charizard had their steel wing. Heck, even his little Anorith had his metal claw attack. As for Poison-type moves. He had his Gengar and his Ivysaur with their sludge bomb and sludge waves attacks. Even his little Nidoran, who evolved two weeks ago, had a decent move set for poison-type attacks. Although, right now, the only Poison-type attack he knew was poison sting.

Ash looked at his newly evolved Kanto Pokemon. "Excellent job, Nidorino. You really mastered that horn attack, didn't you?"

The poison pin Pokemon blushed at his trainer's praise.

"I'm going to check on Geodude and Growlithe next. How about you take a little break, and after that, you can train with Noctowl to increase psychic resistance."

Nidorino nodded. The poison-type walked towards their camp to rest up a little. He was really grateful to his trainer. Thanks to him and the training he provided, he was growing more powerful every day. He was looking forward to the day he would evolve into his final stage. Ash walked towards the area that his Geodude and Growlite Occupied. Ash saw his Kingler standing at the side. Perfecting his Blizzard attack. The crab Pokemon sure was a hard worker.

"Do you need any help buddy?"

The Crab Pokemon shook his head. Ash smiled at his Kingler's independence. Whenever Kingler learned a new move, the water type wanted to make sure it was honed to perfection.

"Ok, I'm going to check on Growlithe and Geodude, ok?"

The crab Pokemon waved at his trainer and concentrated again on the task ahead. When he arrived at the area, Ash saw the two were having a practice battle. Ash decided to observe. Geodude rolled into a ball and rushed his opponent. The rock type struck the puppy Pokemon with a rollout attack. But Growlithe easily recovered. All that training was certainly paying off. The Puppy Pokemon unleashed his flame wheel attack. But right before he struck, he also used double team to confuse the rock type. Too late to find out who the real Growlithe was. The rock type could only brace himself for the impact. A huge explosion engulfed the cave, and dust flew everywhere. When everything cleared, you could see Geodude still standing. He was breathing harshly for a bit, but he was still alright and ready to continue the fight. Ash wanted to say something. But before he could, the little rock type suddenly let out a scream.

"GEODUDE!."

A blue light suddenly engulfed The rock Pokemon. And after the light vanished, a new Pokemon stood in its place.

"GRAVELER," screamed the rock Pokemon.

Ash smirked. Things sure were looking up. All his Pokemon were growing at an astounding rate. And they still had eight months left to train.

"Mmm, I think I will stay here for another month. After that, I will travel to my next training location. Mount Quena, in the Johto region."

In the logs my dad wrote, he said it was the tallest mountain in the Johto region. On top of the Mountain is said to be a vast forest. Within the center of that forest is a lake, who said to possess healing properties. It was called Clarity lake. Purity Canyon, which surrounds Mount Quena, is known for its harsh weather. This weather, combined with Mount Quena's steep cliffs, makes the mountain virtually inaccessible to humans, thus keeping it undisturbed from its natural state. It was the perfect environment to train his pokemon. He was planning to stay at that mountain for at least three months. After that, Ash smirked. Came the real challenge. Climbing Mount Silver, the most terrifying mountain in the Kanto region. The Pokemon who lived there were said to be immensely tough. It's even said that the natural environment of that mountain was considered to be a deathtrap for anyone foolish enough to enter it without being prepared. The top of those mountains can be either calm, with only little snowflakes falling from the sky and a slight breeze. Or they can be wild and untamed. Raging snowstorms with harsh and cold winds. It was definitely a challenge for anyone who wanted to conquer this mountain. Ash clenched his fists. But the boy was determined to face that challenge head-on.

Another month had passed on Seafoam island. Ash looked at the pokemon that trained with him on their last month on this arctic archipelago. His Pikachu, Sneasel, Seel, Tauros, Muk, Snorlax, Lapras, Pidgeot, and his three newly evolved Blastoise, Venusaur, and Dragonair.

"Well, guys, our training in the Seafoam Islands has come to an end. It's time to go to our next location in our training journey. And that is Mt Quena."

The pokemon all cheered at their trainer's words. Ash suddenly felt Articuno rubbing her head against his body affectionately.

(Okay, that sounds so wrong. Sorry about that if any kids are reading this, lol.)

"What's wrong, Articuno?"

The legendary bird knew Ash was leaving, and frankly, she didn't like it. She grew close with him and all his pokemon these last three months. So, there was only one option left for her to take. She pointed to his bag. Come on, Ash, your not that dense, she thought. After figuring out what Articuno was trying to say, Ash looked shocked.

"D-do you w-want to join u-us?"

Articuno nodded. All the other pokemon smiled. They already knew what the ice-type was planning to do. She certainly will be a big help on their journey. Ash smiled. He took an empty Pokeball from his belt and threw it at the Titan of ice. A red light engulfed the legendary bird of ice, and she was sucked into the Pokeball. The ball wiggled three times until finally, a capture sound was heard throughout the cave. Ash picked up the ball and smiled at it.

"Welcome to the team Articuno."
