Chapter 2: What if the queue didn't want to move?"

Judy momentarily pushed Aries causing him to involuntarily fall on top of his friends, knocking them over. Everyone was startled by the course of events, even Nick, who stared in surprise at the brave but also crazy rabbit. The term came to him spontaneously, seeing the brave step he took. Only in this situation did Judy keep her cool, who, seeing that the rams did not know what was happening, closed the iron door leading inside the carriage against them.

"Judy, what are you doing!" said Nick as the rabbit passed him in the cramped hall where the wildflower farm was.

"We need evidence," said Judy briefly as they walked to the small room of the vehicle where the controls were. At this time the fox took from the table a pistol, one round of poison ammunition and the gun case that was packed in it. He packed the whole thing into the case and ran into the room with it, seeing Judy unsuccessfully trying to start the railway.

"Hey look, I got what you want, let's get out!"

"We need all of it!" countered Judy trying to get the vehicle moving at all costs. Unfortunately the machine wouldn't even budge. The engine gave the sound of its work for a short time, but a moment later something interrupted and that was the end of it. Judy tried several times to start it up until the three rams had managed to figure out the situation and were already trying to kick the door in together. The rabbit's confidence was suddenly extinguished. Until now she had been confident in her movements, but now she was completely lost and didn't know what to do now. Maybe she had actually overestimated her abilities now? Maybe now she wants luck to help her all too much? Nick was also showing confusion as he heard the metal door slowly give way to their opponents. Judy looked around the room looking for something to help them until the glass windows, the only way out of this situation, caught her eye. It was a good thing, but if they both ran, the rams would figure it out and catch up with them. With two of them, they didn't stand a chance. Someone had to stay. And Judy knew who.

"Nick listen, break that glass and get away with the evidence," Judy said quietly so the rams wouldn't hear.

"Are you crazy? I'm not leaving you here after all! We'll work something out, you'll see!" replied Nick firmly, looking around for anything that would help them. Time was running out. The door was cracking more and more by the second and soon the rams would be coming inside. Judy knew this too, and tried to convince Nick of her decision.

"Nick, you have to do this. Go, give the evidence to the police, I'll stay here and stop them. It's your duty," Judy repeated as she pressed the case into the chest of the fox, who looked at her in disbelief.

"No, I can't..."

"You can Nick, you have to...You can show that foxes are good, that stereotypes, are false and wrong. You will save Zootopia, don't worry about me...I'm just a stupid rabbit" replied Judy lowering her head down. It was a tough choice for Nick. On the one hand he didn't want to leave her, she was his friend and he wanted to stay with her until the end. On the other, Judy's words were true: he could show that stereotypes about his race were wrong, maybe with this action he would improve life for a hundred of his fellow foxes.

"No Judy..." said Nick kneeling down , to meet straight into her crocus violet eyes.

"You are the smartest person I could ever meet" said Nick kissing her on the forehead. He then threw the suitcase at the window, causing the glass to shatter into a fine poppy and the exit was unlocked.

"I promise I'll come back for you," whispered Nick, then he jumped out of the empty window frame jumping down onto the tracks. Judy thought for a moment about the meaning of the fox's words, but she didn't have much time for that. The door was already on edge. Before they broke, Judy took a metal chair from the room where the flowers were, then closed the other door and locked the other entrance barricading the entrance with the chair. A moment later, the carriage door burst open and three rams entered looking around to find the rabbit.

"Look Drake! The bunny hid in the mink!" laughed one of the rams. The three of them giggled while Judy stared at the glass through which the fox had jumped. It was all up to him now. Whether he would hand over the case, whether the evidence would be delivered. She was counting heavily on him and would be sorely disappointed if it turned out that the fox had not fulfilled his task. She wasn't worried about herself, she knew her end was near. She sat huddled in a corner watching the occasional door that bulged from the blows of her opponents.

"We know you're in there! It's only a matter of time before we get you!" shouted Drake, followed by a heavy pounding on the metal door. In a moment they would most likely break. But that was nothing. Judy was only counting on the fox now. She had accomplished her task. The door soon cracked, fell to the ground with a bang and the three rams entered the hall and noticed the rabbit, who looked remarkably calm.

"And what was that for? You upset the wrong people. Jessie, Kate, cuff that rabbit, we'll shoot some," said Drake, whereupon his friends got to work. They took handcuffs from a drawer, then chained the rabbit to the wagon's shifter, tugging on the rabbit's arm. Judy felt a slight pain in the process, but she didn't complain.

"What's all this for? Why are you poisoning innocent people? Who are you doing this for?" asked Judy when she was trapped and all that was left was to sit on the ground raising her arms up.

"Look rabbit, it's nothing personal. I just like making money and the person who pays me has quite a bit of it, so why not?" replied Drake looking around the desk top, his movements looked like he was looking for something. And most likely he was, but what he hadn't guessed was that the gun he usually fired had been taken by the fox.

"Give me another one," said Drake more quietly, ceasing his search for a new weapon.

"Who's responsible for this?" asked Judy. She tried occasionally to get out of the shackles, but they were too perfectly fitted to her tiny and thin hands that she had no chance of even getting a little out of them.

"Well...all in all, you're going to go feral in a minute anyway...the mayor has a lot of money."

"Mrs Bellwether?!" repeated Judy loudly, to which Drake nodded with a motion of his head. Rabbit was shocked. How could such a decent and dignified person go so far as to commit such evil acts! And yet she could, apparently. This truth hurt her deeply, but she also felt relieved that she had managed to solve the whole mystery. Despite the odds, she had made it. It was just a shame that she would have to die.

"Okay, but that's the end of the talking. What time is it?" asked Drake, whereupon his friend stated the time on his gold watch on his left wrist.

"5.50 p.m. Hm...Give me a cartridge" ordered Drake, but the cartridge that was loaded as well as the gun was gone!

"What, it's gone too?" asked Drake, to which his friends nodded with a motion of their heads.

"Another one will be ready in 10 minutes" replied his friend looking at the infusion of flowers.

"Ekh, well ..we'll wait, we still have to deal with another individual" replied Drake. At that moment, Nick's words came into Judy's head, saying that he would be back. She didn't believe it too much herself, but all in all it couldn't hurt to try.

"You're about to feel what it's like to be wild, rabbit" directed these words Drake to Judy while cleaning his gun, wiping it lightly and gently so as not to scratch the varnish.

When it struck 6.00 p.m. Drake pulled a gun from his pocket, then pointed it at Judy's forehead, who closed her eyes in fear. She wanted to get it over with.

The ammunition was already ready, all that was needed was to press the trigger button.

"Goodbye rabbit," Drejk said as he was about to squeeze the trigger.

"Stop!" came an ironic and masculine voice from behind Judah, making everyone turn their attention to the orange and white figure standing in the frame of the glass.

"Nick...?" whispered Judy in disbelief. 'What's he doing here! He was supposed to be taking evidence to the police and meanwhile he was standing on the window frame staring at the rams that were involved in the whole situation that had occurred. Nick stepped down from the window frame, then walked in front of Judy to drape his body over hers while standing wide apart.

"Nick what are you..."

"Shhh! I know what I'm doing...And you! If you want to kill her, Shoot me first!" said Nick with seriousness and one hundred percent conviction.

"Nick, no!"

"Hush!..."

"Haha, did you hear? The fox wants to defend the rabbit! You're a fox, why are you stupid! Well whatever, so be it" Drake said, then with a quick shot he fired a bullet that hit the fox's chest.

'NICK, NO !" shouted Judy as she saw Nick immediately start growling and fall to his knees. By this time, the three rams had left the wagon and then covered the exit with a wide wooden panel so that the fox could not escape . Nick went through the process of savaging quickly and dynamically. Saliva began to fly from his mouth, his pupils became smaller, his smile became frenzied, his claws and teeth protruded much more aggressively than before. Judy tugged at the chain trying to get free, but her attempts seemed to be for naught. She was helpless.

"Nick please..." groaned Judy as the fox turned his attention to her. Slowly but inexorably he walked towards her gazing into her violet eyes. His emerald eyes were saturated with anger as well as aggressiveness.

"Nick, I didn't even have time to tell you that..." she didn't have time to finish Judy when Nick grabbed her by the neck biting her. Judy let out a long and loud scream, tears began to stream from her eyes which ran down to Nick's cheeks. Judy was already mentally in another world. It took her a while when she felt that his grip was weak, his touch was not angry and his teeth were retreating. Judy was surprised, but she still cried.

She was surprised, what had actually happened? Had the serum not worked? When Nick pulled back more, she noticed a modest smile on his muzzle. She realised that Nick was only pretending. But how could that be possible? After all, he had been given poison!

"Nick...how could..." said Judy quietly as Nick put his finger to her small lips to signal her to be silent. He slid his shirt up, she saw that underneath it was a thick bulky waistcoat. The three rams came inside after a few moments, being shocked to see the fox in its normal state.

"What the hell? You're not supposed to! A blind bullet! No, that's impossible!"

"Just a bulletproof vest. And I advise you to look behind you" replied Nick calmly as he advised for his opponents to turn around. Already there were three police cars behind the wagon, who were filled with officers. It was game over. Nick had done his part! He had promised to come back and he did! It was something amazing!

"I should probably set you free" laughed Nick crouching down to Judy. With his claw he opened the lock, Judy was free. She immediately threw herself around his neck squeezing him with all her might. She owed it to him. He had saved the metropolis and her! He had done what he didn't even believe himself!

"Great job Nicki," Judy said as Commander Bogo approached. The policemen were already taking rams and the commandant had a moment to praise the two heroes.

"That's the kind of officers we need Judy, I was wrong to you...to you too fox...if you want, you are seen a lot at the police station" stated Bogo, then tackled the three rams.

Epilogue

"So Carrots, What did you want to tell me then?" asked Nick as their conversation returned to the underground track. They were strolling through the park after work. Bathed in the glow of the setting sun, they enjoyed this romantic walk, even though they had nothing in common yet. They were now working together, as police officers! Nick fulfilled his dream and showed not only himself, but also others that race has no meaning in life. It's not up to us what we see ourselves as, it's up to us what we will be in the future.

"Well, I was going to say that you haven't zipped up until now" laughed Judy, Nick burst out laughing too, but a moment later he fell violently silent when it turned out to be true! He blushed slightly as he closed his zipper, and Judy almost cried from laughter.

"Very funny Carrots, haha. And what did you really want to ask?"

"Well...there will come a time for that..in the meantime let's enjoy what we have, my wild fox" replied Judy laying her head on Nick's shoulder who kissed the soft rabbit head.
