The Lostbelts.
Worlds of cut off 'dead-end' histories, where progression is the key to survival. Something these Lostbelts lacked and were missing something. Becoming a dystopia, a utopia, or whatever situation that made them stagnate to the point where they can no longer move forward…where they are then cut off. Not even given a chance to develop and cease to exist before these dead-end timelines can even form properly.
Timelines that now, through unnatural reasons, exist to defy Gaia, the world itself. Where at least seven Lostbelts were formed and are now fighting to become the new 'Proper Human History' and let everything else cease to exist.
To bring back the 'proper' world, the mission is simple yet difficult to achieve. Cut down the Fantasy Trees, the 'plants' that sustain these dead worlds brought to life and send them back into oblivion. Facing countless foes and the Lostbelt Kings, who wield power so mighty that some are akin to the Gods themselves. All while having to bear the burden of wiping out countless lives to the nothingness to ensure the original world lived.
Something that has now been done two times, with Chaldea having originally headed toward the next Lostbelt in China both to stop it and because of the poison within Ritsuka's own system because of a certain move made by one of their enemies. A poison that will kill them and the new director in due time.
"Ahahahaha." Ritsuka was on the ground, wheezing a bit with fright in her eyes. "I…I think I saw my parents and friends."
On the ground next to her, is Goredolf who was just as frightened. "T-Toole? Was that really you?"
Mash, Da Vinci, and Sion were with them while a few Servants such as Nezha, EMIYA, and a newly summoned Skadi aimed their weapons at the ones who caused their Master and Goredolf's discomfort.
"Yeesh. Help out a person and this is our reward." The God of Darkness scoffed. "Thanks."
"How unappreciative." The God of Light also added, not feeling too frightened by the weapons aimed at them.
"You. Say. That. But. You. Did. This. To. The. Master." Nezha glanced at Ritsuka, who was still shaking with Mash consoling her and Da Vinci getting her vitals. "Why?"
"Yes. Best to explain now." EMIYA added with a glare. "Otherwise, a nasty misunderstanding will come."
"Anybody who hurts my child, will face death." Skadi also declared.
If it hadn't been for the fact that Dark's own Servant was elsewhere, she'd have probably attacked and made the situation worse.
How this occurred, well, one has to go back just a bit in time.
"Poisoned!" Goredolf shouted in fear. Touching his stomach, the new director was now whimpering a bit. "And now both I and Ritsuka are dead?!"
"Actually, Ritsuka seems to be fine. Probably because of Mash's own skill helping her." Da Vinci then told the new director who balked at such a thing. "Also, you'll probably die in three days." How unfair.
"Still, this is worrying." Sion then said with concern towards Ritsuka. "While you seem fine, there's a chance this poison could affect you."
"But I feel fine." Ritsuka replied with Da Vinci shaking her head. Holmes giving his thoughts on the matter.
"Maybe so. However, Master, the fact is that we have no idea how this poison will affect you in the long run." Even worse is the fact that this was a poison used by that vixen fox. Who had used Goredolf's 'gift' to transport here and nearly killed the Master, using a poison that had no normal antidote. Ritsuka gulped.
She still felt fine overall, yet she heeded Holmes and the others' advice. Besides, she knew how some diseases and stuff can have a person feel no symptoms, then they have to go to a hospital later or perhaps death.
"What's going on here?" Suddenly the Sister Gods came. Both having for the most part, talking to their servant to see what was going on while adjusting to their new forms. Now entering to see the problem.
"Well, about that." Mash told them what occurred. How their enemy Vitch had come and poisoned a cake. One Goredolf and Ritsuka ate, and while they won't die right now thanks to neither eating the whole thing, adverse effects may still happen. Where death may come soon enough.
"Now that is a problem." Light nodded as she understood the situation. "I recall old followers who came to me asking them for cures for such afflictions."
"And the tiny few who came asked to kill their enemies with poison." Dark chuckled. "Good times."
"Oh, wait!" Goredolf then spoke up. Looking at Light with hope in his eyes. "If you can make cures, then maybe you can create an antidote for Ritsuka and I!" Those nearby were then suddenly interested.
During their time here, both the Gods gave some explanation of their powers. How together, both created an entire planet, or at least it's surface. Thus, meaning they had knowledge of creating life, with Light capable of making many things due to a great understanding of how. One can't make life including people, plants, and animals from not knowing the structure and comprehension of them after all.
"It could be done." Light nodded, though Dark then butted in.
"But there's an easier solution to this." She giggled.
"And…that is?" Goredolf asked.
Dark smiled sweetly at him.
She then flicked her fingers at Goredolf and suddenly, Goredolf screamed as he vanished into dust.
Everybody became shocked, and before anybody could even act on this blatant murder, Light herself turned to Ritsuka and waved her own hand. Ritsuka also vanished away into the nothingness with no evidence of a body at all. Fou yelping with Mash fainting right away.
"A…a…a…" Da Vinci, a good friend of Ritsuka, could do nothing like many others as they felt their connection to Ritsuka vanish. This wasn't some interruption to the Master-Servant contract either. Ritsuka was dead.
"And back we go." Dark then said waving her hand with Light doing the same. Instantly before everyone's eyes, a purple and golden flash and both Ritsuka and Goredolf came into being and fell on the ground. As if through magic, Mash woke up with everyone still frozen. Jaws open and if they could have, fallen on the ground.
As for Ritsuka and Goredolf, well, they merely curled up on the ground and slightly whimpered at what they saw on the other side and their sudden demise.
Thus, now we return to the present.
"I do not see the problem." Light said. "We helped the two and got rid of the poison in their system."
"But how?" Sion, still wary of them, asked while checking on the duo. Discovering that the poison within them is indeed gone.
"It's easy to resurrect them back in healthy bodies." Dark shrugged. "So, we killed them and brought them back in bodies at their physical state before the poison." Dark has done this before, long ago with Ozma. He had an incurable sickness that ravaged the man's body. When Dark brought him back, it was easy to get rid of that.
"Alright." Da Vinci said as she understood now. However, "Did you have to traumatize them?" Not to mention the Servants as well. Couldn't they have explained before they did…That! "Honestly, I'm surprised you managed to do this at all."
Once a person was dead, death was final. Sure, people could extend their lifespans or cheat death, but that was just delaying. Mash was the only exception, but that was because she died in a place outside of the normal world with Fou having to give up much of his power to do so. Yet these two somehow did it without trouble at all.
"As mentioned before, we don't abide by your world's rules." Light then explained a bit to them about their powers. "Every world has its own laws. Its own rules. Concepts that must be abided by those living under these laws. Thus, every world beyond your planet is unique because those worlds, even if they might seem similar, have their own rules."
"And we don't bother with this planet's pathetic will." Dark bragged a bit. Though it was a rightful brag, considering that the Sisters did indeed come from elsewhere, and as such they weren't bound to this world's rules like everyone else born on this planet.
'That's definitely interesting…and worrying.' Holmes then thought as he could comprehend what these two were saying. Why, it made him more certain that they were indeed Outer Gods, or at the very least something similar to them. After all, Outer Gods in a way play by their own rules, and had they been allowed to take over the earth, it's very likely that the earth would have become their own playground as they added their own rules onto the texture of the world.
Which has become true with the mystery Alien God, who has changed the earth's rules. Maybe not all of them, but some of them like how there is no night anymore, and the Lostbelts going against the usual defenses. As such, it made sense these two could do things that would be considered abnormal by their point of view. Why, if Chaldea were to enter another world, a truly different genuine world, they might find things that were off to them but normal to that world's residents.
"Well, despite your, ahem, poor communication to explain, in the end you two did help them." Holmes looked at the Servants, still aiming their weapons at the Brother Gods. He can understand why they were on guard to a certain degree, since nobody, even those in Chaldea, really knew why these two were bothering to help and the fact that they weren't genuinely loyal to them. At best, acquaintances. "As such, you don't deserve any threats."
The other Servants got the message and put their weapons away. Meanwhile, Ritsuka and Goredolf were slowly becoming lucid again. The slight shock of their deaths and resurrection wore off as they stood up and were given a quick medical review. As stated, the poison in their system was truly gone. And while both humans weren't exactly happy that they weren't told that they would have to die, Goredolf especially, at the end they were still alive and healthy again.
"Man. It was so weird." Ritsuka then told Mash of her experience in death. "It was like, I was somewhere else for a moment. Some…white place…with people and junk."
"It felt so unnatural. And terrifying." Goredolf added. "The only reason I didn't scream was because Toole slapped me before shouting and asking why I was even there." The new director then frowned. "She also rudely said that I probably died because I ate too many sweets! The nerve!"
"Although you did eat some cake before you were killed." Meunière chuckled with some of the other staff, with Goredolf fuming. While this happened, Ritsuka then wondered something.
"Um, hey." She then called out to Dark and Light, who looked at her. "Um…you guys can…resurrect people, right?"
"Maybe we didn't do the resurrection right. Otherwise, are you deaf?" Dark raised a brow at her for asking the obvious.
"Right, right. Um, I was just, well…" Ritsuka then sighed, and decided to just ask right away. "Is it possible for you guys to…raise the people who are gone? From earth and…the Lostbelts?"
Now that was a very good question. One that could be an interesting answer depending on what the Sisters said. After all, almost all life on earth was nearly gone, particularly humans as only a few remnants remained. Not to mention Ritsuka wondered, hoped, if maybe those who ceased to exist from the other Lostbelts, Paxi, Gerda…could be brought back.
The two then gave their answer.
"Doubtful." Light then gave the disappointing answer that Ritsuka had hoped it wouldn't be. Dark then giving a further explanation on the why.
"It might-emphasis on might-have been one thing if we were at full power." Dark mused. "But you do realize you're asking to resurrect billions of souls, and the additional number of these Lostbelt residents who have ceased to exist."
"In our current state, we'd only be able to revive maybe a few dozen at best. And that's with our current power while this world tries to fight us for just doing the act." Heck, even at full power chances are Gaia would do it's best to interfere. While the planet couldn't do much in its current state, the duo still felt Gaia attempting to affect them.
They were on Gaia's playground. It's world and its rules. If things were different, if they were at full power and Gaia at full strength, chances are things would get very nasty quick as all three fought. Light and Dark may be planet destroyers, but they certainly didn't have home advantage alongside countless Elementals and other guardians to help Gaia out in killing them.
"Full power." Holmes then mused. "Then…what about the tree in China?" Everybody looked at him as Holmes then walked towards the console as he then typed down a few commands. Where the image then showed the massive storm in China. "Last I recall, you mentioned that much of your power was sent into that tree."
"Don't remind us." Dark muttered, unamused by that incident.
"I understand the frustrations the both of you have with this, however, perhaps this is a chance as well." Holmes told them as an idea came to mind. "I admit, Chaldea doesn't know much about these trees, or as well call them Trees of Emptiness. But what we do know is that they drain energy to create these Lostbelts."
"Solar, gamma, mana, anything really." Da Vinci added. "And while it is troubling that the China Lostbelt grew so much, the fact is that our readings have informed us the place is highly unstable."
"Indeed." Sion grinned. "Whatever you did down there in space, it has caused the readings from it to fluctuate greatly. Like the Lostbelt is thriving yet decaying at the same time."
"Might be due to my brother using his concept of destruction on it." Light said with Dark smirking. While the Trees of Emptiness were great unknowns, the fact is while still massively different from any normal trees, there are parallels to them. Trees needed proper nutrition to grow, and stuff like oil, gasoline and the like would kill the tree. In the Tree of Emptiness case, while it was impressive to absorb all sorts of energies, it would appear Dark's destructive energy was actually killing, or causing the tree's own collapse.
"Yes, and maybe we can use that to our advantage. It's your power, so maybe you can take it." Holmes said with the two Gods now interested.
"Yes." Dark then laughed revealing a wider mouth with countless sharp teeth. "That would be appropriate."
"It won't be easy, but I suppose it is possible to retake our power from the tree." Thus, regaining their full, or at the least most of their strength.
"Wait. Then are you telling me that we're going to the second largest Lostbelt!?" Goredolf then fearfully shouted.
"Sorry Gordy." Da Vinci closed one eye while clasping her hands together in front of the new director. "But we were going to have to visit that place sooner or later." Goredolf looked ill.
"Besides, we have a bunch of Servants here to help us out." Ritsuka grinned while patting Mash on the back. "We just go in, find the Tree of Emptiness, and then have these guys take their power."
"You do realize that's ignoring the threats that may be there alongside the Lostbelt King." EMIYA pointed out Ritsuka's flaw who then smiled.
"That's why I have all of you to help me out along the way." Many of the Servants smiled at that. While maybe a bit optimistic in general, it wasn't such a bad thing either. Besides, it was best to deal with the Lostbelt more than ever in its current unstable state. Scans show the entire storm actually dissipating at times, meaning it might be possible the Lostbelt was weaker perhaps.
They could be wrong, but they had to find out, right?
"Damn it. Damn it! Damn it!" Akuta shouted while her Servant watched her as she ripped apart one of those robots with her supposed dainty hands. Seeing the rage in her eyes as she fumed at what was going on. Cursing her luck, her fate, and the two beings that brought her down in this situation in the first place.
"Master." Saber walked to his friend. "Have you vented enough?"
"No." Akuta said with restraint in her voice. As angry as she was, she wouldn't take it out on him when it wasn't his fault. If anything, if she could, she'd rather take it out on that emperor for his latest commands. "Damn it! This wasn't how it was supposed to go!" Akuta then kicked a chair away.
The plan. The plan she had made, hoped to use, was now ruined.
All she wanted was to summon him again. To see him again. It didn't work out unfortunately, as she got Saber-not that she hated him-she was just disappointed that it wasn't the one she wanted. But she got another chance here in this Lostbelt.
He was different in appearance, and his story was not like the one she knew. Yet even so, it was him and at long last she thought she could fill the void in her heart. Sure he wasn't responsive to her due to his duties and loyalty, yet she knew he was interested in her. Even talking with her at times.
Given time, then maybe they could…they could be together.
'Not anymore.' Akuta growled. 'Not after that damn stunt!'
Akuta's eyes then looked out the window. Where she saw two things. The home and 'body' of the emperor, alongside the Tree of Emptiness. Or what was left of it. Time has passed and the tree didn't look any better compared to before.
According to Wodime, the energy the tree absorbed was causing damage to the tree's 'internals' and 'functions' due to the concept of destruction being placed in that energy. As such, it was ravaging the very inside of the Lostbelt tree, with the massive keystone of this world barely able to function properly. Truthfully, Wodime actually told her if things came down to it, then it might be for the best to get rid of the tree as it has become what Daybit called a ticking time-bomb.
The very border of the storms actually vanished in certain areas at times. Not to mention Akuta has noticed some of the people here in this land at times would outright disappear before coming back without even realizing they 'died'. Because of that, the emperor had begun to make his move. Readying his armies and awakening some of his soldiers while also building many of his machines for war. Which included…him…
Akuta then leaned on the wall. Uncertainty filling her before she gripped her fist. Her Servant watching with worry for her state, knowing it was tough for her to know that this can end very badly.
Either the Tree of Emptiness will collapse in on itself from the deadly energy it absorbed, or the Lostbelt King of this world will fight the other Lostbelts…and lose. Akuta didn't care if this world lost, really. What she truly cared about was that if the Lostbelt vanished, then so did her beloved as well.
'That fool might have an army and the power to drop literal space rocks from the sky, but against the others he has no chance.' The emperor here wasn't exactly weak. But against the likes of Wodime's Lostbelt King, or even that alamagration mess in the fourth Lostbelt, no way would the emperor win. Which meant that her beloved, the one she sought for, Xiang Yu…will die.
"No." She couldn't let that happen. No matter what! For a small moment Akuta's eyes glowed just a bit. While she was stronger than the average person, in her current state she was powerless. Having not drank any blood for quite a while, and admittingly, is a bit rusty in fighting. But if she could protect Xiang Yu, she'll do what she has to do.
No matter the cost.
"My, my. Someone is determined." Tamamo Vitch giggled as she saw just how angry yet determined Akuta looked. The way she showed a bit of her nasty side, especially when the emperor declared to his citizens that they were going to war soon enough. Although…
"I doubt this war will last very long." Even she could tell that this Lostbelt was done for. If not by the Tree of Emptiness collapsing in on itself, then it'll be either Chaldea or another Lostbelt. Although it's likely that it'll be Chaldea, as they are already on their way. No doubt to deal with the poison in their system, of the Master and the new director.
Vitch then grinned, as her tail swished back and forth.
"Two beings not of Pan Human History, eh." Ah, yes. She sensed them as well, alongside the power they had. Not to mention the leftovers that was lost with them. Turning her head, Vitch gazed at the many creatures she had brought here to torment the little human cattle around here. From the frost giants to the demonic beasts, all the new pets she got before the Lostbelts fell with her utilizing them both as a force…and for her own purpose.
'I pondered on using the little Master and the Alien God the tails…but those two can be a perfect replacement.' Oh yes, Vitch can see it now. If she can get the proper opportunity, she can capture those two and her ascension will go even faster. It helped that they were even in human forms, as she needed hair for her plan to work. Granted, she'll have to be careful a bit since she didn't need to be disintegrated by the dark one or whatever other powers they may have.
Still, if things went well then, she's one step closer to overshadowing the original. So, with that done, Vitch then waved her hand and told her pets one thing. "Have fun." The many creatures she captured and tamed then roared as they went to kill the human cattle of this world.
What fun that is indeed.
"Alright then. So, yeah. It seems Chaldea is headed towards China to resolve Akuta's little Lostbelt. Ah, poor her." Beryl chuckled a bit as he gave his report to his Servant, Morgan. Normally, he wouldn't bother with such a thing. However, he noticed that Morgan was much less patient these days, ever since that nuisance Tristan died off.
Shame she didn't fall to her overuse of rotting her soul, but oh well, can't have everything. Right?
Either way, Morgan was testy and more brutal against the Fae. Having little patience for their antics these days, with Beryl doing his best to stay on her good side.
"I see." Morgan calmly said, though a grudge can be seen in her eyes. One that was aimed at those poor saps that killed her daughter. Beryl wondered how much time those two had left before Morgan got them. "Very well then, I suppose I can watch them a bit longer. To observe them."
Morgan wanted to do nothing but launch one of her many Rhongomyniad at them. Wipe them out from existence. However, she needed knowledge on them and their capability. What they can do and the potential danger they may possess.
The dark one managed to somehow destroy not just her lesser attacks, but one of her precious spears that she originally planned for Olympus. That shouldn't have been possible, however he managed it while the leftover attack reduced a part of her Camelot to nothing with all the fairies there, including some decently strong ones. That wasn't even mentioning the golden one's abilities and what they could be.
Once she discovers their powers and weaknesses, she will show no mercy and wipe them out without a trace. Drain them of whatever energy they had before letting the fairies have their fun with them. Perhaps even toss them down the pit just because she could. Either way, the second they killed Babboth their fate had been sealed. She won't let anybody else kill them, as they were hers and only hers to torture to their miserable end. And if anybody got in the way, they'll be dealt with like so.
"Hm." A certain man read up on what he knew. Despite having every advantage, he continued to learn about those he knew would be his enemies. Especially since said enemies continued to survive and grow. Despite he and his team having so much force against the Chaldeans, Chaldea alongside the final Master continued to exceed expectation here and there.
However, the rules have changed. If it was Chaldea by itself, then the man wouldn't have felt much worry. Now however, while he felt no fear, he did feel interest in Chaldea's newest power.
"The Brother Gods." While the first Chaldea may have been destroyed, before said destruction some files were gathered which included two extraterrestrial deities. It had actually been hidden away, no doubt to ensure the Mage Association and UN didn't discover this information and then try and use it against Chaldea. To capture Mash and Ritsuka, alongside this 'Grimmified' Servant as all three had been affected by those two.
But what was more interesting that while these Brothers could be a threat...perhaps they could also be a solution.
"The ability to give immortality." As the file stated along with abilities that were stated to be called magic. They will be destroyed if proven they would just interfere. Granted, Zeus had shown interest in them, particularly the golden one, for the creation abilities. But what the man cared for more was if he could use them for himself. To attain the dream to elevate humanity further. That is Wodime's goal to save the human race.
He just hoped the Alien God didn't send anything too soon to eliminate them before Wodime can see if he could use them.
The Shadow Border had entered the Chinese Lostbelt. It actually penetrated through it way easier than usual, likely due to the instability of the storms. Either way, everyone soon got out and looked around the place. To observe what was happening around here and what could be done.
"Welp…nothing attacking us here." Ritsuka still kept an eye out, just in case.
"Everything does seem safe." Mash agreed with Ritsuka.
"Then I suppose things are just fine." Light adds on.
"Then nothing can go wrong." Until Dark jinxed it. As if on cue, a shadow loomed over everybody. Looking up, everyone saw it wasn't the clouds but in fact a massive meteorite that was flaming and headed down right towards them all. One that would definitely wipe everyone out from the face of this Lostbelt.
"You jinxed us."
"Shut up."
Those were the last words heard at what imminent doom was. The meteorite then hit, and everything within a five-mile radius was vaporized from the heat itself while the earth shaked like an earthquake. The impact also sent a shockwave that sent grass, rock, and people flying off their feet. Any lifeform too close to the shockwave would die as their bones shattered and organs crushed from the very force itself. By the time things calmed down, all one could see was absolutely nothing but a massive scorch mark and a big hole. Indicating that the heroes were likely dead.
Golden light then appeared and suddenly the Shadow Border and all the humans and Servants inside came out without a single mark. Granted, everyone looked a bit shaken up with only Ritsuka and Goredolf who seemed fine.
"I got to wave hi to mom. Yes!" Ritsuka then said, revealing that the God of Light literally killed everybody just before the meteor struck and all were sent to the afterlife. Then rematerialized them once the danger was gone.
"I must say, it was nice to see father again." Goredolf also smiled at seeing familiar faces.
"Wattson." Holmes just whispered with Da Vinci shivering a little at what she saw on the other side. Those inside also feeling the same as they were all told that once a person dies, they go to the Root and that was it. Though to be fair, once a person dies it wasn't as if anybody knew if the soul went to the Root immediately considering said person is freakin dead to tell anybody.
"Alright, that was easily done with." Dark wiped her hands clean from her brother's magic. She then noticed something at a distance and saw what appeared to be…robots over there. Huh. "Well, guess this won't be as boring as I thought." From Dark's dress, a vile liquid spilled across the ground where after a bit, Grimm burst from them.
"And it seems our power is located there." Light then sees the Tree of Emptiness, with Mash flinching at how sick it looked.
"Well, I guess we already have our target." Ritsuka said before she then felt a hand clap on her shoulder. Feeling a strange energy entered her and realized Light was touching her.
"There you go. Some immortality to help."
"What?" Dark then growled while her Grimm went off to face the foes. Alongside EMIYA and a few other Servants who had been summoned before entering the Lostbelt, with Dark glaring at Light. "What happened to the rules we made?"
"This isn't Remnant."
"Trying to curry favor huh." Dark just hissed before looking at Mash who flinched when she saw dark's look. "Two can play at that." Dark then teleported behind Mash and placed her hand on Mash's back making the Demi-Servant yelp as she felt Dark's own energy enter her body. "There. You're also immortal and you have magic. Top that!"
Light just rolled her eyes while Ritsuka felt slight envy that Mash got magic powers. But hey, on the other hand she's immortal. So that was something. Either way, as Ritsuka saw the machines coming at them and her Servants fighting at their best, something told the last Master that things were going to be just fine here.
I imagine having two Gods, even weakened ones, will be very useful. More so since even if the cast dies, the Sisters can literally just bring them back. However, don't think that suddenly things are easy peasy.
Sure, on one hand Chaldea has these two to help them out with a lot of things like giving magic to Servants and junk, but on the other hand the Emperor here isn't holding back, Zeus and Wodime want to use those two for their plans, Morgan wants them dead, Vitch is scheming, and the Alien God will probably send an assassin like Murasame to kill them with his sword.
Also, if anybody is confused on how the Sisters can just resurrect people, remember, it's been stated that there is an afterlife on earth. I mean, Babylon literally showed Ereshkigal's realm. So, my theory is that when a person dies, they go to whatever afterlife earth has, and then go to the Root. That and those two don't play by Gaia's rules. I noticed in crossovers with RWBY, when a Servant (or Shirou with his magecraft) comes to Remnant it's their rules of Nasuverse that dominates the RWBY world. Making Remnant look like a chump. Welp, time for the opposite to happen. Either way, until next time and have a Merry Christmas.
