Viox looked at the plain parchment, only one word was written on it and she was stuck. Her hand shook as she tried to convey her feelings and reasoning on why she was going into hiding. Was she scared of leaving? Surely Kaeya would understand, he was a knight after all, and Mondstadt came before his desires, right?
"Viox?" Violet called as the pink haired woman looked up at her twin, Violet smiled a little, "Still trying to word it?" She asked as Viox nodded, "I'm not sure what to say…'' she said softly as she turned back to the paper on her desk. Violet hummed, "You could tell him that you need time to yourself?" She suggested lightly as Viox frowned a little, "It's more than that though." She looked at Kaeya's name that was printed so neatly on the white paper. "I honestly don't know if I can go through with this at all. How do you just trust someone not to find you?" She asked, looking up at her sibling. Violet chuckled, "That's not something I've had to think about really." she says as she gives Viox a small squeeze on her shoulder, "Start at the beginning. Tell him what happened that day." she said softly. Viox took a deep breath. That day. The day she almost lost everything. She gripped the pen tightly remembering the pain as she touched the Electro Vision dangling from her neck. It happened so fast.
"Viox! Kaeya! Albedo!" Violet called, she had taken a group up to Albedo's camp as soon as she heard a day before that Kaeya and Albedo found a trail leasing to Viox's location, not wanting to waste time on finding her sibling, she took her ground from the lower part of Dragonspine to the upper part. She paused in he walk over before noticing that Albedo was carrying Kaeya on his back, as her picked haired sister moved at a slower pace as if she was a doll or a broken horse with no will to move. Violet quickly rushed over to the group as Albedo looked at her, "Kaeya is hurt, move things aside so we can heal him." he said bluntly and out of character for the soft spoken man as Violet's eyes widened, the feelings of her sister being safe had washed away quickly as she shouted the orders to clear a table. The Knights moved fast to help the Captain.Violet helped Albedo, as Viox stood quietly, shocked at everything, as Violet shouted more orders as men and women rushed around the pink haired woman. It may had been minutes as the snow fall stopped when Viox was snapped from her daze, watching as people rushed back and forth from the table that Kaeya laid on, his chest was moving up and down before she blinked and it was no longer moving. That's when Viox heard the words, "We're losing too much blood! We're losing him!" She crumpled to the cold hard ground. Kaeya was gone. Tears flowed from her eyes as she covered her mouth with her hands."VIOX!" Albedo shouted as she looked up, "We need your vision!" he said as she scrambled upwards rushing to Kaeya. She felt sick to her stomach at the blood that covered his form, his chest no longer moving as Albedo laid her hands on Kaeya's still chest, "He's there! Shock him!" he ordered the pink haired woman as Viox swallowed, looking at Kaeya's ashy pale face. Albedo snapped his fingers in front of her face as Viox took a breath and sent a small shockwave into Kaeya's body, pulling away jerkily as his body moved at the pulse, "Again Viox!" Violet shouted at her sister as Viox felt the cool blood brush on her bare hands, Kaeya's blood. She shook as she pressed down onto Kaeya's chest, "Live…" she whispered as she sent another, more powerful shockwave into the dead man's body, which plused harshly with each wave before a harsh ragged gasp echoed from Kaeya's lips, Viox was quickly shoved out of the way as Alex, Violet's healer moved in to heal the man.Viox looked downwards at her bloodied hands. Kaeya was hurt, Violet was worried, Albedo was upset. She did this. She caused this. Viox's body trembled as she watched her vision blur with tears. She did all of this by being close to Kaeya. She killed him. She was the reason he died. She looked up making eye contact with her twin. Blue met Green, as Viox turned tail and ran. She darted from camp, a few feet from the entrance. She needed to breathe.
"Viox?" Violet asked shaking her sister lightly, as Viox shook her head, "Yeah?" she asked as Violet sighed, "You're still blaming yourself...aren't you?" Violet asked as Viox looked down, "Viox, it wasn't your fault." Violet tried to say as Viox stood up from her spot, "No it was...Fruitia has made it clear she doesn't want me near Kaeya and if I am, she'll kill us all without worry!" she shouted, tears coming up hot behind her lids as she wiped them away angrily. "Its my fault for everything. It's best I go…" she said as she sat back down, grabbing the pen back as she wrote quickly. Before Violet could even blink, Viox was done. The letter tucked away neatly.
"I...I want to see him one more time before we go home." She said softly. As Violet smiled, "Of course, I'll take you to the Church." She said gently as Viox looked at the folded up note, before grabbing a cut piece of navy blue ribbon and a blue white rose to tie the items on. After that was settled she picked up the neatly done letter carefully. Turning and looking at her sibling, the two nodded at each other, before heading out.
Kaeya looked at Viox as she stopped, "So that's how the note was left at my bedside?" He asked as Viox nodded, "I wanted to see you before I left, but you had been asleep for a few days at that point." She explained her reasoning before sighing, "After that, I headed out for mine and Violet's hometown here in Dragonspine, the rest of the story is...dark in a sense of something I don't feel like sharing at this time as it is late already, and you and I both need sleep." She said gently as she stood from the window seat. She looked at Kaeya as he stood as well, "We'll have to share the bedroom for the night. I didn't prepare the spare room." Viox said with a sigh as Kaeya chuckled, "I can sleep on the floor Viox." He said as Viox looked at him, "But that!- I can sleep on the floor instead! You take my bed!" She said as Kaeya smiled, "I can see this argument will lead us into circles all night, I will take the bed if that pleases you, but a woman should never sleep on the floor, so how about I humbly decline the bed." He said as Viox huffed, she knew he would use that sweet talk of his to get his way, "Fine." She replied as she got some blankets and pillows for Kaeya.
Carefully she laid them on the floor as a small yawn left her mouth. Kaeya smiled warmly, as he helped set up the small makeshift bed on the ground, watching as Viox's pace got slower. The woman was exhausted and struggling to stay awake. "Viox, go to bed, I'll get the lights." He whispered as Viox nodded, making her way to her bed, and curling up in the blankets on it. Kaeya went around the room and snuffed out all the candles and lights that were on as the room plunged into darkness. The only sounds at this point were of him breathing and Viox's deep breaths.
He sighed very quietly as he looked out the large window in the room, watching as the snow fell softly. It looked like it would be some of that sticking to the ground snow, so hopefully he would be able to go outside early in the morning to enjoy the winter air. He watched as his mind raced about what Viox had told him, how she left the note, came here, what had truly happened that day. Kaeya gently reached up to the average sized scar that sat just under his sternum, the attack had gone right through to his back, exiting out just to the right a little, missing his spine. He rubbed it gently, he was kinda glad Viox had such a great Vision, it complimented his Cryo one extremely well. He wondered if she would decide to go into the Knights, or continue being the Head of Affairs for Diluc. After all, she now had the ability to protect herself, and he was curious as to what her element took form in. Diluc's was that of a hawk, Kaeya himself was blades, Lisa was Roses, Jean was Dadalions, and Violets was that of a tidal wave that seemed to clear massive amounts of monsters and such. So what was Viox's? He rolled onto his stomach, looking up at the woman's bed as he studied the movement of her breathing. Her body was so small against the large bed, her pink hair fell off of the edge but as she moved, it was put back on it. He smiled as he settled for the night.
She felt warmth beside her, as Viox sighed softly, "Kaeya…" She mumbled out quietly as she relaxed into her bed's warmth, taking her time to wake up before she felt an arm around her waist, she froze. Was Violet in her bed? Viox took a ment to calm down, maybe it was Violet, her sister could have mistaken her bed for Violet's own. She felt herself tense up as the fingers flexed, before the arm reached upwards and rested its hand on the left side of her chest, above her small breast. She choked a scream down as she laid still, not daring to move as the person grumbled softly. Viox blinked her eyes open carefully as she realized she was on the floor of her room. As a yawn made its way out of the person's mouth behind her, she felt them press against her back more, a light kiss on her bare shoulder and a soft, "Good morning…" left the sleepy person as Viox sat up, looking behind her.
Her eyes took in a very tired looking Kaeya that laid next to her. His hair had come undone from his normal long side ponytail. His hair looked unusually fluffier than normal as he rolled onto his stomach, trying to reach for Viox's warmth. As Viox took a moment to calm herself down from the fright she just had, wanting to scream she opted for standing up and getting dressed instead. That's when she heard her parents from their room, starting their day as well. She bit her lip as she grabbed a set of warm clothes and walked out of her room, shutting the door quietly behind her, as she dashed into her sister's bedroom, empty of course due to Violet being stationed in Mondstadt.
Viox got dressed quickly in some fur lined green pants that were tight against her legs to keep her warm and to keep snow out. As well as a very large but thick sweater dress like a shirt. She fluffed her pink hair a bit as she met her parents outside of the rooms.
"Up before noon? Unlike you Viox." Her father commented as Viox blushed a little with embarrassment, "I just wanted to go for a walk in the snow!" She said quickly as her mother raised a brow. "Are you finally feeling better? We know you've been incredibly upset with leaving that Kaeya man. He was never a good match for you anyways. You need someone like Master Diluc, now there's a match!" She smiled as Viox frowned, "But Diluc and Violet have started courting." She replied softly, letting her hand come up to her chest, "And I...I like Kaeya…" she looked down, feeling the painful squeeze of when she left the bluenette man back in Mondstadt. "Yes but he never cared for you Viox, if he did, he would have came to find you now wouldn't he? Its a shame too, if only you'd stop reading those fairytale books of yours, you know, maybe you should look into all the men in our troop? Hmm? Maybe there's a good man there for you." Her mother said as her father took his leave down the stairs. Viox bit her lip, "But i...I don't want…" she started to say as she felt her mother's harsh glare cut into her skin, "You have been depressed for 3 months now Viox, get over Kaeya and move on!" Her mother snapped as Viox flinched, her whole body jerked harshly at the words, "You know he's probably moved on from you already, you're so small, its hard enough to find you a husband when your so short and incredibly lacking in hips and chest. Look at your sister! She at least has something!" Her mother snapped again as Viox nodded, "Im sorry mother, I will try better." She whispered as her mother excused herself, heading down the stairs to join her husband.
Viox quietly entered her room. Forgetting the man who had slept over, as she leaned against the door, sliding down against it till she sat on the flooring. Her head in her knees as she struggled not to cry. Viox sighed as she looked up to see a pretty upset looking Kaeya, who was glaring at the door. His arms were crossed as Viox looked down at the ground. "How much did you hear?" She asked as Kaeya growled, "All of it." He replied coldly as Viox nodded, "Shes right." She said standing up carefully as Kaeya's eye followed her movements, "She isn't right…" he said quietly, as Viox walked over to the reading nook, curling up with the thick blanket once more as she looked out the window, "Im not sure on that Kaeya, you've probably moved on after I had left…" she mumbled out as Kaeya took a seat next to her, "I didn't…" he whispered softly as Viox blinked in surprise, "You didn't?" she asked, her heart giving a little flutter as Kaeya's milky blue one looked at her, "I didn't...I meant what I said all those months ago Viox, other women are plain to my pallet...you aren't, you're intriguing to me…" he said quietly as Viox felt a warm flush on her cheeks. Kaeya smiled warmly as he cupped her face, "Just because some wen are well endowed, doesn't mean I would fall for them. Not like I did with you. You're…" he paused, as Viox looked at him with worry. "Viox...it's hard to say the right words...especially since when we go home, we are nothing more than friends, but I want you to know that…" he took one of her hands, pressing it to his chest as he leaned forward, pressing his forehead against her left shoulder. "I want you to...know that this." He whispered as Viox felt tears prick at her eyes, she could feel his heartbeat, and it was strong and fast, he was gripping her hand tightly, but not enough to be painful. "Viox...I only have one chance to tell you this and I want you to know now, before we go back to Mondstadt...I lo-" Kaeya was quickly cut off as Viox's father walked into the room. All three froze as Viox quickly stood up and shielded Kaeya with her small statue. Her father didn't look pleased, "Why is he here in my house?" He snarled out as Viox glared back, "Because I invited him over!" She shouted as her father took a step closer to them in a threatening manner, "He belongs in the trash!" Her father roared out. Viox began to shake at the sound of the older Hala's voice, she was scared. Kaeya touched Viox's arm gently, "Viox, I can go-" he started to say as Viox's father crossed the way, ripping the two apart, "DON'T TOUCH MY DAUGHTER!" He roared loudly, pushing Kaeya to the flooring, as Viox took a breath, flashbacks of Kaeya getting hurt flashed before her eyes as she gripped her vision, "Leave him alone!" She screamed at her father, as she rushed to the other, helping Kaeya up, "Viox, he needs to be taken out! This is my house, my roof!" Her father snarled as he moved even closer, as Viox's breathing came quicker, "No! You'll hurt him! Leave him alone!" She cried out as Kaeya watched Viox begin to panic. Her father was moving in too quickly as he pulled the small Hala twin into his arms, tucking her head into his chest, "Breath Viox." He whispered as he felt the other shake. He looked at the elder Hala, his eye glared. The menace flowing off of Kaeya, made Altair Hala freeze, "Don't." Kaeya growled out as he held Viox's shaking form, "Don't you see?! You've sent her into a panic attack, when vision holders panic, they become unstable." He snapped as Altair glared, "Well then I'll take her vision!" He snarled moving towards the two as Kaeya pushed Viox behind his back, "You'll have to get through me before you even lay a hand on her." He replied coldly, as he raised a hand, snapping as a single ice blade formed. He had used this trick back when he was up against 30 workers that Fruitia had sent at Viox. He had protected her then and he would now against her own kin. He raised it as Altair stopped moving closer. "Let us leave." Kaeya said calmly as Altair huffed, "I can see where I'm outmatched. I will step aside and allow you both to leave the home. Do not come back." He glared as he walked from the room, slamming the door harsly as Viox flinched. Kaeya quickly put the blade away, as he looked Viox over. "Are you alright?" He worried at her as she nodded, "I just...was remembering you and the Abyss mages, and I thought he was going to…" she couldn't finish her sentence as Kaeya pulled her into another hug, "Its okay...you don't have to feel that hurt anymore…" he whispered holding her head to his chest as he brushed a hand through her tangled pink hair. Viox gripped onto the man as she stifled her cries of hurt, exhaustion, pain, guilt, and most of all...scared. Her eyes gave away as the tears started to wet Kaeya's shirt, as she gripped his body to hers, "Im sorry...you got hurt and I couldn't save you! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" She begged for Kaeya's forgiveness as the man held her, "I forgive you Viox." He said softly as he held her closer.
