Caroline woke up with chains wrapped around her wrists.
"Oh good. You're awake." A woman said, coming into the room.
Caroline growled at her. "What do you want from me?"
The woman shook her head, "It's not what we want from you. But what we want from Klaus. If he truly cares about you as much as Sophie suspects. Then you'll be fine. If not…"
Caroline glared at the women's tone. But the unknown witch just smirked, "Let's find out?" She said, picking the werewolf by the arm. Caroline tried to rip her arm out of her hold. But was instantly stopped as she felt a searing pain in her head.
The woman laughed, "What? Did you think that was something that only worked on vampires?"
Caroline growled, but didn't try to resist as the women dragged her into a much larger room. Her chains rattled and instantly caught the occupants of the new rooms, attention.
Caroline could see Elijah's and Klaus's surprise, and the other women across from them smirk as she reveled in her advantage. Klaus's face shifted from surprise, to shock to anger as he saw the female wolf's disheveled appearance. Her hair was matted, and her clothes rumpled. She was covered in dust. He could already see her wrists reddening as a result of the shackles binding them.
Klaus let out a growel and instantly held Sophie by her neck, slamming her into the wall. Instantly Caroline gasped, as she felt her own airway be blocked.
Klaus turned to the blond, hearing the loud. His eyes widened as the gears in his mind turned and he realised the witch was linked to the women he loved. He dropped the witch and flashed to Caroline's side. He instantly pulled the werewolf into his chest and glared at the witch who was holding her arm.
Instantly the bravado the witch had when with Caroline dropped and fear overtook her features. She look a step back at his murderous glare. She turned to Sophie, who was still rubbing her throat, begging her to do something.
The main instigator got up, "I'm sure as you can already tell. The blond and I are linked. I die, she dies." Sophie smirked.
Klaus growled, "And what's stopping me from locking you away so you aren't a threat to her."
"Nothing." The witch answered. "Nothing but your child."
"What?" Caroline asked, shaking her head furiously. "That's not possible. Vampire's cannot procreate!"
"But werewolves can." Sophie fired back. "Magic made you a vampire, but you were born a werewolf. You're the Original hybrid. The first of your kind and this pregnancy is one of nature's loopholes. My sister had to give her life to confirm that pregnancy. Believe me, that woman is definitely pregnant."
Caroline did the math in her head, murmuring the numbers out in a whisper. Her eyes widened, "I'm late." she said, barley above a whisper. The werewolf didn't have to specify exactly what she was late for. Caroline thought her upset stomach was just a result of something bad that she ate. But now…
Klaus remembered their time in the woods. The thought hadn't crossed his mind before. But as he stared at Caroline, Klaus realised that he wanted to see Caroline's stomach grow bigger with their child. He wanted to be there for her. He wanted to see their child be brought into the world. As his hope grew, so did another thought that he was forced to voice, "Tyler?"
Caroline shook her head frantically. "No." she answered at once. "I haven't been with him for months." she answered. Caroline felt an odd sense of relief when she realised that the child couldn't possibly be Tylers. She was happy. But would Klaus believe her?
Her unspoken question was answered when Klaus wrapped his arms tighter around her upper body and buried his nose in her hair. "Thank you."
Elijah shared his brother's hope for the miracle baby. He had already heard from his sister all that Klaus had done for the blond werewolf. How she could see their old brother. The one they had a thousand years ago. Appearing when he was with her.
Now, seeing it with his own eyes. How his brothers had rushed to her side, protected her, and believed her. And now that she was carrying Klaus's child. A child Klaus was happy for, and wanted. Elijah knew that Caroline Forbes and the child in her womb would indeed be the key to saving his brother's humanity.
The older brother had a strong feeling that if it was any other woman in her position. Klaus would have ordered their deaths without hesitation.
But not Caroline.
He'd never do that to her. She would, no, she is, family.
And if there was one thing Elijah stood for above all else. That was family above all else.
Always and Forever.
"As touching as this moment was." Sophie interrupted. "There's still something we need you to do for us. Or have you forgotten?"
Klaus growled, the only thing stopping him from ribbing the witches heart out right now was the fact that she was linked to Caroline, and as a result. Their baby as well.
"We'll do it." Elijah answers. Stepping in between the expecting parents and the witch.
Sophie nodded. But stopped as she saw Klaus about to walk out with Caroline. "Stop. You can't take her."
Klaus's shoulders tensed, but so did Elijah's this time as an identical dark look crossed the brothers faces. Caroline's eyes widened, and her hands instantly went to her stomach in an effort to shield the life growing inside her in some way.
Klaus reluctantly let go of Caroline and walked over to Sophie. At this point, the other witch had already hit behind her. Sophie tried to keep her head up. But was unable to look Klaus in the eyes and resist the urge to look at the ground and submit.
She was expecting Klaus to be angry when she told him that he couldn't take the werewolf. But she expects shouting and maybe even an attack. She was prepared for this silent and deadly furry. "Now this is what's going to happen. I'm going to play along to your little game for now. But the second I find out you tried to harm Caroline or our child. I will make your life a living hell, all the well making sure you can't take your own life until I find a way to unlink the two of you. And when that happens I will kill everyone in your coven in front of you. And then, in a year or maybe a decade. I'll allow you to follow. So I'd be careful how you tread." Klaus growled.
Sohpie shook her head frantically. "Don't believe me. Then allow me to show you a little demo." Klaus groweld, grabbing the other witch and ripping her heart out.
Sophie let out a scream as she felt the warm blood splatter across her face. "Clarice!" She cried out, sobbing for her coven mate.
Claroline turned her head, unable to watch. But she also couldn't find it in herself to feel bad or empathize with the people who had tried to hurt her and her baby.
Elijah handed Klaus his pocket square to wipe his hands with. And for the first time in forever, Klaus accepted it, wanting his hands clean before touching the blond. Both brother's knew exactly what it meant as Klaus used it to wipe his hands.
He was changing.
For Caroline.
Once again wrapping his arms protectively around the blond, Klaus began to guide her out the door, but before he left, he paused at the door. "If I were you Sophie. I'd think twice before even getting a paper cut from now on. Because everytime I find a mark on Caroline's body. You'll lose a coven member. Understood."
The sobbing woman on the ground nodded over the body of her dead friend.
Later that night, Klaus and Caroline were alone. Elijah has made an excuse to go somewhere, wanting to give the couple some time to be alone together and discuss in privacy.
Caroline was laying on a bed, deciding not to ask about the room that looked like it had been prepared for her from the start. He did say that she was free to show up at his doorstep any time she liked, and he'd show her the world.
Klaus was spooning her, his hands running up and down her stomach, but always lingering on her abdomen, where his vampire senses could already pick up on the flutter of a tiny heartbeat. As he listened to it, for the first time in centuries, he felt a warmth spread through his entire body.
He let his head rest in between the crook of her neck. "How do you feel about this?" Klaus asked her.
Caroline looked up, the question snapping her out of her thoughts. She looked at him in confusion, having missed the first half of his question. So he repeated it again, "How do you feel about the baby?"
Caroline sat up on her elbows. She looked down at him, with a smile on her face she answered, "How could I feel anything other than happy? True, I'm a little scared. I mean neither of us have had exactly the best parents. Out of four of them, I think only one would even want the grandparent title to this child. But at the end of the day. We're not our parents. So I'm going to try everything in my power to make sure we never make the mistakes they did. So this child doesn't have to feel what we did. And I know you intend to too. I saw it in your face. How protected this child only minutes after realising they existed. So I am scared. But I am also overwhelmingly happy."
Klaus was smiling an honest smile by the end of her short speech. Caroline looked down at her stomach. "Though I am scared of how my friends are gonna react… to finding out your the father. I'm in a really good place with this child. And I honestly want them to be as well."
Klaus nodded. He and his family didn't exactly have the best history with the people of Mystic Falls. But he knew the werewolf had always desired their acceptance. They're approval meant a lot to her.
Klaus was about to offer some words of comfort to her, when another voice spoke up as well. "Well I'll admit. I'm not the most fond of Klaus. But I personally can't wait to be godmother."
Caroline sprang up off the bed at the voice, "Bonnie!" Caroline ran to her friend, hugging her. Klaus sat up, and on guard at the arrival of the witch. From behind her, he could see Matt, Stefan, Rebeakh and Elijah. "What are you doing here? Wait, how did you know about the baby?" Caroline asked, a little worried.
At the blond's last question, Klaus was instantly beside her, "Yes. I'd like to know the answer to that question as well."
Bonnie glared at the hybrid. "Elijah called us. Or Rebekah at least. Elena overheard and threw a fit." Bonnie saw her best friend's face fall, and instantly hugged her tighter. "But there was no way I was gonna let who the child's father is, stop me from being there for my best friend."
"That goes for us too." Matt nodded reassuringly. "We're here for you, Care."
"Elena and Damon will come around. And if they don't. Well, that's their loss." Stefan added.
Caroline felt her eyes tear up, and Shook her head. "Sorry. Pregnancy hormones."
Klaus nodded at Elijah. As much as he hated their presence. He knew that Caroline needed her friends now, more than ever before. He then turned to Bonnie, "I loathe the idea of you being here, as much as you loathe the idea of me being the father. We do need your help."
"The feelings are mutual." Bonnie nodded. "So as much as I'd hate the idea of helping you, I am willing to for Caroline." The Bennett didn't exactly like the idea of doing anything that would benefit the Mikelson's. But she knew that name now also included her best friend.
Rebekah decided to interrupt before her brothers could start a war meeting right here. "Enough of this. We just found out the best news today. We need to celebrate. You can plan your wars tomorrow. Tonight should only be for celebrating."
Bonnie sighed, and sat down on the bed. "Well, I'm sure I can give you guys another reason to celebrate."
Klaus raised an eyebrow, wondering what the witch could be getting at. "I can see Kol's ghost. And believe me when I say he's just as happy about the pregnancy."
"What? How can you see him? He's dead!" Rebekah explained.
"I'm the anchor to the other side. Which means I can also see the ghosts as well. And since your brother refuses to pass on. He's been constantly jumping between annoying me, and watching over all of you." The witch answers.
"Wait. That also means we can bring him back. Correct?" Elijah asked.
Bonnie nodded, "It is possible. But it would ricure a large sacrifice considering he's an original, and a large amount of magic."
Klaus smirked, "And I know exactly how we can get it. I was already planning on having those witches pay. But now, we can at least use them for something."
"What did they do?" Stefan asked.
Elijah decided to answer the question, "They linked Caroline to one of them. Now they're using it to try and force our hand and bring down Marcel."
"Something I was already planning to do." Klaus answered, rolling his eyes. "I've just had trouble getting around his witch. He stopped the harvest, and now he's gotten into that girl's head that he's the only one that can protect her."
"I already know that." Bonnie rolled her eyes. Everybody turned to her, and she blushed undr all they're gases. "Sorry. I was talking to Kol. He said that I should be able to easily beat her. That she may have the power of four witches in her. But I have the power of all two thousand years of the Bennett bloodline following through me."
Rebeakh nodded. "So will you?"
"Is that even a question?" Bonnie asked. "For Caroline. I'd gladly do it. I just need you to find her for me."
Elijah nodded, "We'll get on that at once."
It had been a week since they had found out about the pregnancy, and now the group had everything nailed out. All that was left was to execute the plan in three day's time.
Caroline found Bonnie in the library, a pile of grimoires next to her. "Hey, what are you up to?" Caroline asked, taking a seat next to her best friend.
Bonnie smiled, "Reading the witch equivalent to a baby book." Seeing the werewolf's confused expression, the Bennett decided to explain what she meant. "It's a grimoire filled to the brim with baby spells."
"Really." Caroline's eyes light up. "Like what?"
Bonnie flipped through some previous pages, "Here's one we could try if you wanted to. It's a gender reveal one."
Caroline thought about the offer, before nodding. "I'd like that. Let me gather everybody."
Soon everybody under the roof was in the library, huddled around Caroline. Klaus was standing next to her chair, and Bonnie was kneeling in front of her, with her hands on a sheet of paper that was spread across Caroline's stomach. The paper had a single black blob of ink on it.
"Puella, puer, quicquid es. revela te mihi." The witch chanted. Everybody watched intently as the ink began to move into three separate sections. Each spelling out the word, "Puella."
"It's a girl." Bonnie answered, unsure.
"What's wrong?" Elijah asked, hearing the witches' tone.
"I'm just confused. If I performed the spell right, then there should only be one world." Bonnie answered.
"But it's only one word." Rebekah shrugged.
"Yeah. Spelled out three times. That shouldn't have happened." Bonnie answered. Flipping through the grimoire.
"Well. What does it mean then?" Klaus demanded, wrapping an arm round Caroline's shoulder. The blond leaning into the embrace.
Bonnie's eyes widened as she looked at where Kol was standing. "I need to do another spell." The woman said frantically. Flipping to the page the dead original had practically demanded she go to.
She then turned to Rebekah, "I need you to get a string of white yarn."
Rebekah wasn't one to take orders from just anyone. But under the circumstances, she flashed out of the room without protest. Within a second the blond vampire was back to standing where she was. Holding out a ball of white yarn to Bonnie.
Bonnie gratefully took it.
"What are you doing?" Stefan asked.
"I need to see something. If I'm right then…" Bonnie trailed off. She has a theory of what the spell meant. But if she was right, she wasn't sure what would happen. Holding the ball of yarn over Caroline's stomach, she let it's loose end dangle and began to chant once again. "ένα δύο τρία. Κράτα και χωρίσου."
Everybody in the room watched, as the yarn unraveled, and stretched into three different paths across Caroline's stomach.
"What does that mean?" The expecting mother asked, concerned.
Bonnie let out a laugh, "Triplets. You're having triplets."
Everybody let out a sigh of relief. Caroline and Klaus relaxed, realizing nothing was wrong with their babies.
Rebekah and Elijah rejoiced at the prospect of even more children. Well Stefan and Matt smiled, happy for their friend, who they knew always wanted a large family as a result of her lonely upbringing and werewolf side.
"Triplets." Caroline repeated, happily, a laugh escaping her lips.
Stefan smirked, "Klaus's definitely gonna have his hands full keeping the boys away if they look anything like Caroline."
Klaus growled at the thought.
"Those poor girls." Rebekah laughed, sympathizing with what she imagined their future would be. She was his sister, and he killed anyone she had romantic contact with. She could only imagine how bad he would be with his daughters.
Caroline glared at Klaus, "They're gonna have a normal childhood. Or as close as one they can have. That includes dating."
Klaus kissed the top of Caroline's head, "Of course they can love. Once they're five thousand years old."
They're plan was simple enough. A little too simple Caroline had worried. But was reassured by Klaus that it would be fine. The simpler the plan. The more freedom they'd have to execute it, and could change it on the fly.
Kol, Elijah and Stefan had located Divana, the witch Marcel had been using location. Bonnie was to take care of her. She just had to make sure that she wouldn't be a threat to the Mikaelson's new rule, or Caroline. But if she couldn't, then she needed to do whatever it may take to ensure it. In the end, if it came down to the witch or them. Then she knew what she needed to do.
Matt would stay behind to ensure nothing would happen to Caroline. All though he was mostly for emotional support. The last of Klaus's hybrids would be the one's doing most of the guarding. Something nobody was too surprised to learn. Of course Klaus wouldn't risk his most loyal hybrids by taking them to mystic falls. And anyone thinking that he won't have backup, was just stiupid on their part.
Elijah, Rebekah, Stefan and Klaus would be taking care of all of Marcel and his most loyal followers, themselves. As a way to assert their dominance and ensure the remaining vampire's wouldn't attempt an uprising.
Caroline was pacing around the room, Matt's attempt to get her to sit down all in vain. The doors burst open, instantly putting the hybrids on guard.
Bonnie rushed in and dove into Caroline's arms. Her breathing came out in deep pants almost as if she'd run all the way home.
Caroline's face fell as she understood why Bonnie was acting like this. She returned Bonnie's hug, slowly sitting down, bringing Bonnie down with her.
"Bonnie. Breath. Listen to my voice, and breathe. In. Out. In. Out. In. Out." Caroline spoke calmly.
Bonnie slowly calmed down, listening to her best friend's calming voice. "I killed her Care. She was so young and I-"
"Hey. You didn't have a choice. It was you or her. Nobody's gonna hold that against you." Caroline told her. Bonnie looked up to see absolutely now judgment in the blonde's eyes. Her gaze then met Matt's, whose eyes were only full of concern.
Bonnie let herself stay in Caroline's arms, just letting the blond run her fingers through her hair. Bonnie frowned as she felt Caroline's skin heat up.
"Care?" Bonnie called, concerned as she looked up to see Caroline's flush face and her breathing deeply.
Matt looked up from the book he'd picked up to bury his panic.
Caroline's skin was turning red, and her temperature was rising.
Bonnie felt Caroline's forehead, only to instantly let out a curse at the temperature. "Something's wrong with her. Matt, call Klaus. Now!" Bonnie demanded. She then turned to hybrids who were standing by, looking worried. "I need towels, cold water and ice packs." She demanded. The men instantly rushed out at her orders.
"The babies." Caroline whispered, panting.
"They're going to be fine. I promise you." Bonnie whispered, laying the blond down onto her bed.
Klaus was in the middle of taunting Marcel, as his siblings and Stefan ripped through the so-called king's night walkers, when his phone rang.
Marcel growled, but was stopped by Klaus holding his finger up. As deeming as it was, Marcel was grateful for a break from the fight. Even if you could call the one sided massacre that.
Matt's name flashed on the screen, and Klaus instantly picked it up. Knowing that the human wouldn't call unless it was absolutely necessary.
"What happened?" The hybrid demanded.
"It's Caroline. Her temperatures through the roof. Bonnie's trying to lower it. But nothing's working." Matt answered, panic and worry clear in his voice.
"Sophie." Klaus growled out. "I'll be there in ten minutes."
Klaus instantly flashed in front of Marcel. "Sorry. Play times over." He said, ripping Marcel's heart out. He then turned to the rest. "I have a witch to pick up. I'm sure you can handle the rest?" He asked. Without waiting for an answer, Klaus flashed out.
Caroline's temperature had only continued to increase. Bonnie's attempt to cool her body temperature doing next to nothing no matter how desperately the witch worked.
At this point Bonnie had moved her out into the backyard next to the pool, where the air was much chiller.
Klaus stormed toward them, dragging Sophie by the arms with him. "It's her." Klaus answered. The witch was already answering his question on his way of how an elder had stabbed her with a curse tool. "You need to unlink her and Caroline. Now!" Klaus demanded.
Bonnie instantly got up, running inside to fetch her grimoire.
Sophie shook her head frantically. No, she couldn't lose her only advantage. "No, she can't unlink us. She's not the witch who did it."
Bonnie ran back outside. "No. I can. I'm a Bennett witch." Bonnie then turned to Klaus. "I'm gonna need a minute."
"And we don't have it." Klaus growled, kneeling next to Caroline.
"I need you to jump into a pool with her to cool her down. That should buy us some time." Klaus nodded, instantly picking her up. Worry filled his chest as he felt her temperature only rise.
He jumped into the pool, holding her close to his chest. "I can't lose them. Klaus. I can't." Caroline cried, holding onto his shirt.
"We won't Love. I promise." Klaus told her, holding her close. Her temperature had slowed down, but still didn't stop rising.
Bonnie grabbed Sophie by the wrist and dragged her into the pool. The witch tried to resist, but was forced to follow as a hybrid pushed her forward from behind. Bonnie grabbed Caroline's hand, a lot gentler. "abtaeid , adhhab fi tariqik almunfasili. anhall watafakuku." Bonnie repeated the chant multiple times. Sophie let out a scream, as Caroline followed. Gasping, arching away from Klaus. The original held on tight, not letting her go.
Koll put his hand on Bonnie's shoulder, encouraging her. "Come on Bonnie. You're almost there. Just a little more." Bonnie once again replete the words. It took two more times before the women's screams were silenced.
Caroline let out a relief sigh as her body began to rapidly cool down. Klaus stayed in the water with her for a few more minutes, before carrying her out.
Klaus grabbed the towel Matt handed her, instantly wrapping the blond into it and began drying her.
"How is she?" Rebekah asked, running towards them.
"She's fine now." Bonnie nodded.
"Where's Elijah and Stefan?" Klaus asked.
"They're gathering up the witches." The blonde vampire answered.
"Good." Klaus nodded. "They're all gonna pay."
"Klaus." Bonnie called. "I know you're angry but we can't kill them all."
Sophie, hearing those words, brightened up. "Thank you sister!"
Bonnie glared at the women disgusted. "If you let me finish. I was going to say we can't kill them all yet. We need to wait till the new moon so I can use their deaths to bring Kol back." She said, turning back to Klaus. "Wait three more days. For Kol's sake."
Klaus nodded, picking Caroline up, carrying her inside.
"Klaus." Caroline called. "Can you hear them?" she asked.
Klaus smiled at her gently. "I can hear them." The steady thump, thump, thump of their daughter's heartbeats, combined with the urge to see his brother again was the only thing stopping Klaus from ripping the hearts out of every witch in the quarter.
Three days later, all the witches of Sophie's coven were brought into the cemetery, along with Kol's body.
Klaus had insisted that Caroline stay inside, not wanting her to see this. But the wolf had only shook her head. These women had tried to kill her children before they could even draw their first breath. That was something she could never even imagine forgiving.
They had crossed her bottom line, and she had wanted them to pay. She looked around and saw that all the witches were severely messed up. Some had cuts, others had bruises painting their body.
But not a single witch was unharmed. Caroline knew she should have hated the sick satisfaction she felt, but she couldn't bring herself to fight that feeling.
But out of all of them. Sophie, and Agna, the elder who had tried to abort the babies, were the worst off.
Agnes was missing an eye, and Sophie an entire arm. Both their bodies were covered in cuts. Surprisingly the missing limbs were a result of Elijah's rage.
Some of the witches huddled together, others cried. But most had taken to glaring at Sophie. Knowing she is the one responsible for all they're deaths.
When the alarm Caroline had set began ringing, Bonnie nodded and began chanting.
Klaus, Stefan, Elijah and Rebekah flashed around, Ripping out throats, snapping necks, and tearing off heads of several witches until within less than a minute, all were dead. Through all the screams and noise, Bonnie not once stopped chanting. Refusing to let herself miss a beat.
The winds around them begin picking up, with Bonnie at the center of it. It continues to grow only stronger and stronger, until Bonnie lifts her hands and directs them at Kol's body. And like a well trained dog, the winds follow, flowing into him.
Everything goes quiet, until Kol's body jerks, and he gaps, sitting up right. Instantly, Rebekah and Klaus are by their brother's side. Elijah not too far behind them.
"Welcome back to the world of the living." Klaus laughs, well Rebekah hugs him.
Kol returns his sister's hug.
"So how do you feel?" Bonnie asks, kneeling down next to him.
Kol stretches his arms over his head, "Happy enough to kiss you."
Kol's laugh is cut short by Bonnie pulling him in and kissing him, surprising everybody.
"Did you…" Klaus asks Caroline, who shook her head.
"I knew they were growing close. I just didn't know it was this close." The blond answers smiling as she watches Kol return the kiss.
They're next concern was how Caroline's transformation would affect their babies. But that was soon solved when the first full moon came and went without any transformations. A couple spells and tests later. They realised that the girl's blood was slowly but surely turning Caroline into a hybrid.
So seven and a half months later, Hope Andrea Mikaelson, Josette Bekka Mikaelson, and Elizabeth Sheila Mikaelson were born.
I honestly didn't really want to write the fighting scene. So I kind of skipped over that.
Also, was Klaus a little oc here. Like a lot of fics even when it's Caorline's that's pregnant still have him lashing out. But I just wanted something fluffy of Kluas being a happy dad.
Plus remember when it came to Hope, he was a total softey. And we're talking about Caroline, being pregnant with his children, here. So I personally felt he was an adequate amount of soft.
What do you guys think of this one? Because I can potentially see this getting turned into an actual story. Like the idea of Klaus loving werewolf Caroline since mystic falls and then getting her pregnant. But I really don't like the show originals for MANY reasons. So I would be following the cannon, but not following it at the same time. What do you guys think?
Like the story would be similar to this one shot - but a lot different at the same time. But I'd definitely take my time with it more. And they probably won't be as OP, because then we won't really have as much of a story. But things like Bonnie being called in, and a lot of witches dying, would probably be similar or stay the same. But with the longer version, I would get to play around with aspects of the story more.
And Hayley, god do I already have plans for her. And I'd also include Katherine x Elijah too.
Because honestly, I'd love to. But that would mean I'd actually have to watch the originals, something I really don't want to do. I wonder if I could get away with just reading the wiki page?
Is this an idea you'd be interested in?
Anyways,
KLAROLINE FOR LIFE!
