It has been a year since I have arrived in this world through unknown means.
"I'm back," I said as I came inside a small and cozy house owned by a kind of man. Now, if only he was not as perverted as usual. Imagine that you were having a nice relaxing day when suddenly, your landlord dragged you away from the house to spy on girls.
I mean, I am a healthy male but seriously? Why the hell would I peek with him at women?!
In the end, we almost got caught when some traveling adventurers from Orario went looking for some blonde cowboy that was also probably spying on some women.
"oh, Ren!" Coming out from the corner, a white-haired red-eyed little boy smiled at me.
"Good morning, Bell."
[3rd person POV ]
Ren smiled as he removed his cloak from his shoulders and hung it on the coat rack revealing neatly trimmed black hair and the clothes he wore underneath. It was just an ordinary vest over short-sleeved chainmail for the top, a pair of black pants and boots with some knee guards. On his hands, a pair of hand wraps can be seen around his hands as he got in. Removing his boots, he smiled as he rubbed the boy's head.
Ren had been out for a day or two now to scout out the Goblin nest in the area they were leaving in. With the help of others, the young man was able to clear out the area in just a few hours by himself, costing him his spear and ax. He still had his knives so he was fine.
"Oh, welcome back, kid." An old man greeted with a smile. This old man was not only his landlord but also Bell's Grandfather. "Rough day?" The old man asked with a smile while the young man nodded.
"yeah, I finally wiped out the Goblin nest. They have a caster there so it took a while." The young man said as he showed them the bag filled with magic stones as well as another one filled with crude weapons that he can have melted and reforged to other weapons.
"Oh? I see. Why don't you take the rest of the day to rest? You have been out of it for a while now." Bell's grandfather said with a smile. "Besides, you will be heading out to Orario, soon." Hearing this, the young man nodded and went to his room.
"I already ate so you two enjoy yourselves," Ren told them with a smile as he went upstairs to his room. Opening the door, he smiled as he looked at his room, removing his armor and clothes, the young man went to his bathroom for a quick rinse and lied down on his bed.
"The last floor of the dungeon contains the key for my way home," Ren said with a sigh as he remembered the note on the book he saw after Bell and his grandfather rescued him. He owed them his life.
Looking at the mirror, the young man smiled as he saw a reflection of his old self. He chuckled and closed his eyes. He achieved one of his dreams of being able to travel a lot, but now, he just wanted to go home.
The young man yawned, letting the sweet embrace of unconsciousness claim himself.
It was only a few hours later when the young man woke up and saw that it was around 3 in the afternoon that he stood up and stretched lightly. That was a nice nap, he enjoyed it quite well. Smiling, he went downstairs dressed in his pants and a short-sleeved shirt to see Bell asleep on the couch and the old man by himself.
"Hey, did I miss anything?" Ren asked as he sat down in front of the old man.
"No, but this came in during the morning after you slept." The old man said as he showed him a book.
"a book?"
"Spellbook of some sorts."
"Was it the cowboy?" Ren asked as he took out a pipe and put some tobacco on it and searched for something to light it with.
"No, it was not him. I did not even notice it. I think it might be connected to the reason why you got sent here." this made him curious as he looked at the book.
"Should we dispose of it? I'd rather not risk anything as long as we have Bell here." Ren told the old man as he shook his head in response.
"No, it's safe. I have looked over a lot of different grimoires and magical artifacts for a long time now. It's not anything malicious really." The old man reassured him.
"I see," Ren said as he took the book and raised his brow as he read the title. "An idiot's guide to being an adventurer?"
"Peculiar title."
"Old man, the only thing I know you're willing to read is anything that has smut in it." ren said frankly as he opened the book to reveal most of the pages were empty.
'Combat techniques volume 1: basic edition' the first page read. Closing the book, the young man sighed as he smoked his pipe with a sigh.
"So, you're going to do I? This plan is stupid you know?" Ren reminded the old man with a sigh. "It will either make or break him."
"Yes, but Bell needs to toughen up. We won't be here for him all the time," The old man said as Ren sighed.
"I'll follow what you want," Ren said with a sigh as he stood up and sighed. "I'll be packing up now. The sooner I finish the faster I will be able to go to Orario." Ren said as he went up the stairs and into his room after he finished his meal.
As Ren put the final preparations he needed inside his bag, he looked to the door to see Bell hiding shyly on the doorpost.
"YOu can come in, Bell," Ren said with a smile as he sat on the bed and smiled at the boy.
"A-are you leaving?" Bell asked making him nod. It has been over a year since he lived with them and it broke his heart to leave his new home.
"Yes, I have to be an adventurer to find my way back home," Ren said with a smile. Over the last year, he had trained a lot and have made sure that he was stronger than before to the point that he would have no problems with any monsters on the first ten floors.
"I see. Hey, Ren. Do you think, I can be a hero?" Bell asked with a shy smile as he looked on the ground.
Dark eyes softened as they looked at the boy. Reaching in, Ren rubbed her head with a smile.
"Well, as much as I don't want you to suffer their fates, yes. I believe you can be a hero, Bell." Ren said with a smile as he gently patted his head. The young man smiled as he pulled out a sheathed bayonet from his bag and handed it to him. "Here, I want you to hold on to this, I will be teaching you how to use it when I get back."
Red eyes widened as he pulled out the knife from its sheath revealing the Bayonet knife his uncle adored.
"Remember Bell. Stay strong and no matter what happens, remember you are not alone." He told him with a smile as he watched the boy nod and run downstairs to hear some stories from his grandfather.
"Well, it seems like I will be having my sights on the dungeon," Ren said with a sigh as he looked at the letter that the two gave him after he woke up. Opening the book, the young man flipped the pages several times to see a magical circle and a golden card.
Turning it around, Ren saw a human wearing a beast mask with a greatsword on hand.
"Weird," he said as he looked at it and sighed. Putting it back in the book, the young man lied down on the bed and closed his eyes.
That night, he dreamt of a blonde young woman wearing a white dress, black gloves, a black bow, a beret with a black ribbon, and the mission she was born with.
A reminder that this part takes around five years before canon. bell will still be a member of the Hestia familia so don't worry and Bell will also have a harem for himself.
