When we got back to the garage all three of us went into the office. Mom sat down behind the desk and dad sat on the couch. I closed the door and just stood in front of it. We were just in silence for a minute before my mother spoke.
"You gonna tell us what happened?"
"We had a fight, what more do you want me to say?"
"I want you to tell me why. You have never had a fight before, especially in school. What's so special about this girl?"
"She… Why am I in trouble here? I did nothing wrong!"
"You got into a fight! That is completely unacceptable!"
"Since when is fighting unacceptable here, in this family, this club?!"
"Since it's getting you in trouble at school! Clay are you gonna say anything?"
"I thought you were handling it just fine, baby."
She sighed and I smiled. "Uh uh. Do not smile! You are in trouble young lady!"
"Am I in trouble because I got into a fight or because it was embarrassing to be called down to the school?"
She got up and moved towards me. She had this look in her eye. I knew I should leave, so I opened that door and walked out, but when I saw she was following me I started to run across the lot. I looked behind me and saw her getting closer, but when I turned my head back around, I ran straight into Jax.
"Hey, where are you goin'? Oh my God, what happened?"
"I-"
"Amelia Harley Morrow, do not take another step!"
"Shit." We both said.
Jax stepped aside when mom came and grabbed my face. She grabbed my cheeks just like Weston did that night. I started to breathe real heavy. We heard a car speed down the road and I looked to see it was the green minivan that Polly was driving that night. I looked back at my mother and she was staring at me with her eyes squinted.
"Oh my God, you're high aren't you?"
I couldn't even focus on what she was saying. I was so freaked out from what Polly said about them coming after my mom, her grabbing my face like that, and then the van coming by the garage. She let go of my face and I took and step back and turned around. I ran towards where the van had been. I don't know why, I just had to know, I had to know what they were doing here. I saw her park at the end of the street and I ran towards her. She got out of the van and hopped into a truck. Weston was driving. I pulled my gun out of my purse and ran after them until they were too far ahead of me.
I stopped running at the end of the street. I still had my gun at my side and felt a hand on my arm. I raised that arm and ran my elbow into the face of the person who grabbed me. I turned around and it was my mother. I had broken her nose, she was bleeding everywhere.
"Shit. I'm so sorry."
"Jesus Christ."
"Oh man. I'm sorry." I looked back to where they had driven off, then back at Gemma. "I'm sorry."
She looked up at me and slapped me in the face.
"Yeah. I deserved that."
"Tell me the truth. Are you high?"
"No. I'm not." She slapped me again.
"I saw your eyes Amelia. You're high as a kite."
"I smoked a joint on my way to the garage, alright."
"You better not be lying to me."
"I'm not okay. I'm a little shaken up. Polly she-" I took a deep breathe. "When we fought, she insulted the club, our family. You always taught me to stand up for myself and my family. That's what I did."
"Alright. I believe you, but if you lie to me I swear to God Amelia."
"I won't. Let's go back to the clubhouse and get Tara to look at your face. Come on."
We walked back over and Tara was already there. She had brought the medicine we talked about yesterday. When they saw mom bleeding everyone ran over. Dad took mom to Tara and Jax talked to me.
"What is it with you and bustin' chicks noses today?"
"This one was an accident. I promise. How did you know about the other one?"
"Clay told me when I asked why mom was so pissed."
"Yeah. She's pretty pissed isn't she?"
"Oh yeah. Tara told me to give this to you." He handed me the pharmacy bag.
"Thanks." I started to head back to the office.
"You not gonna go check on mom? She's in the clubhouse."
"I'm gonna let her cool off first."
I went back into the office and looked at the medicine Tara had gotten me. I didn't know what it was exactly, she just said it was something to help with hormones. After a few minutes Tara came into the office, closed the door, and sat down next to me on the couch.
"She alright?"
"Yeah. She'll be fine. You okay? That running couldn't have felt good."
"I'm fine. So I just rub this shit on?" I lifted up the bag in my hands.
"Yeah, this is a hormone cream, do two pumps, no more, and rub it into your wrists. Don't do more than three pumps though. If you notice a big hormonal spike that means you've done too much."
"My whole life is a big hormonal spike lately." She chuckled a little.
"Who was that girl? Was she involved?" I just stayed quiet. "Jesus Christ Amelia. You have to talk about what happened."
"What are you talking about?"
"You know damn well what I'm talking about. I saw the van you chased. That girl. The blonde." I just looked forward and didn't say anything. "I know what it's like to keep something like this inside."
"I doubt that."
"You remember that gun I was carrying a few months ago?"
"Yeah. That fed was stalking you. You had a restraining order."
"Yeah."
"He went after you?"
"Yeah."
"Raped you?"
"It almost went there; I was able to stop it."
"Does Jax know?"
"Yeah. I had to tell someone. It would eat me up if I didn't."
"What'd he do?"
"Nothing. Cohen left town before he could do anything. Look, the point is, you have to talk to someone."
"She's the girl I got into a fight with at school today."
"That's what happened to your face?"
"Yeah. Aside from the slaps Gemma gave me." I rolled my eyes.
"Was she involved?"
I sighed and looked down at my hands. "Yeah."
"You have to talk to someone, Amelia. If you keep all this shit inside your head, before you kill someone or get yourself killed. I know someone who's good, discreet. I made you an appointment. You have an hour."
"A shrink?"
"Yes. Down on the first floor of the hospital. Room 114."
"I'm not talking to a shrink."
"You'll talk to her or I'll tell Hale that you assaulted Gemma and have your crazy ass thrown in jail."
"Fine." I took the card. She got up to walk away, but stopped when I spoke again. "Ya know, tables were reversed. You came to me with what happened. Shit. I would've cut your ass off a long time ago." I saw her staring at me. "It's my way of sayin', what you're doing for me, the club. It means a lot."
"You're welcome. You still have to see the shrink."
"Yes ma'am."
She left the office then. I sat there for a minute before I got up and grabbed my purse. I guess I had to go to the hospital, but I had to check on mom first.
