Deadly Secrets
Author Notes: A new day and a new chapter. Well, it's time to see what happens now that Lavi has had some time to pester our favorite white haired protagonist. Also before I forget, I have italics in the story being visions/dreams/flashbacks so keep that in mind~ I do not own DGM
Chapter 2
? P.O.V
Come little child come with me.
Play and stay can't you see?
A lovely little night full of fun.
There'll be no evidence when I'm done.
A little trick for you and dad.
With you all gone I'll be glad.
Let it light, let it burn.
Soon...soon it will be your turn.
3rd P.O.V
Chills were racking up his spine for every second he stayed there. Even worse was the fact that someone was watching him more intently then usual...it felt like every move he made was being calculated. As if he were an animal trapped in a cage.
Damn Lavi all to hell for this! "Are you alright Allen? You seem rather tense." The white haired boy flinched as a gentle hand rested on his shoulder. There was no masking his sharp movements, but he tried to smile all the same. "Yeah, thanks Krory." His language tutor gave a soft cluck of his tongue.
The elder teen didn't believe the sophomore for an instant, still he allowed the subject to drop as he takes a sip of his bottled water. "I never expected Lavi to get permission to decorate and throw a party here of all places. A rather somber location don't you think?"
Allen peered around, following his friend's gaze. Not bothering to mention that Lavi didn't Really get permission to set up shop here. "Indeed, though you look like you fit right in with that getup." The Romanian teen scoffed as he readjusted his cape.
Krory looked like the perfected aristocratic vampire with the fake fangs and suit. It fit him rather well considering his personality. "Whereas you stick out like a sore thumb. I didn't peg you to like clowns. Let alone have a sense of humor with how serious you are at school." His friend could only shrug as he readjusted his attire.
He refused to say anything about his past experiences. Let alone reveal that the costume was something he actually wore while traveling throughout Europe so he wouldn't starve. Still, as much as he hated the reasonings behind it, he did enjoy entertaining audiences and making them laugh.
Though he wouldn't go on stating he was a clown-or rather not the modern day kind. He was more like a king's court jester or medieval jokester. "We all got our little secrets." The short boy ends the conversation by placing the silver, Victorian style mask over his face.
"Allen!" Both vampire and jester turn to find Lenalee, dressed up like some sort of gothic doll, with her hair curled into pigtails. "What is it Lenalee?" She was panting, holding her hands on her knees as she tries to catch her breath.
She looked exhausted and the party just started. "Practically everyone is here, but we're not fully set up yet. Can you help me grab some boxes Lavi stored up in the attic?" If Allen was more blunt, less polite he would've refused wholeheartedly.
There was a strong presence on the upper floor...he knew that for an absolute fact. And he wasn't too keen on risking an interaction. But...he couldn't refuse, especially when Lenalee seemed so fatigued. "Alright..."
With bright eyes she all but dragged him to the staircase where he froze for a second. His left eye throbbing as his mind blanks. The instant he took ahold of the guard rail at the bottom of the staircase a vision comes to him, not allowing him to see...let alone hear his friend's concern.
'Daddy!' A little girl with spiky purple hair squeals as she practically leaps off the stairs. Her black and red dress fluttering behind her as she's caught by a kind looking man. 'Ahh my precious Road! How are you darling!' They share a tight hug.
Allen could see the happiness radiating off the pair as more smiling individuals approach them. 'Welcome home~ The trip go well? Where'd you go? More importantly did you bring back any candy?'
With a laugh Road is placed gently down, her father going through his bag, completely aware and prepared of this string of questions being asked. 'It went very well my dear! We were in Italy this time around.' In triumph the elder man reveals two small bags of what looked to be a variety of chocolates and treats.
All of it looking delicious to the point where Allen's mouth was watering alongside this Road girl. 'I have one here for you and the other for your cousin Bolic. Be sure to share hm?' His reply is an eager nod as she snatches the treats. Rushing up to the next floor.
'Booolliiccccc look what daddy got us!' It seemed like a lovely little memory. A nice family who seemed to care about each other...so what happened? This wasn't Allen's first time having these visions, watching it like a movie. Usually when this happened it was one of two scenarios.
Either the ghost(s) wanted to show him something. Or the vision had a strong emotion or attachment behind it. As joyful and often a scene like this seemed to be as Allen got a reading on this vision. It wasn't something he would've seen unless prompted...
"We were so happy. It wasn't perfect. But it was enough."
Which meant the ghost was behind this.
"Often times daddy, Uncle Tyki, Aunt Lulubell and Uncle Neah would travel for work."
Allen found himself startled as the girl returns from the upper floor, this time staring right at him as she spoke.
"I missed them, but I wasn't lonely. I had lots of relatives to play with, and they always spent time with me when they came home."
She wanted him to see this, showing her past self and what her life was like before things went wrong. Now here she was, standing across from him, looking around his age alongside a sad smile as she glanced back at her past. Allen bit his lip, The Question on the tip of his tongue.
Don't ask.
"..."
If you do you'll regret it!
"Road?"
You can't get involved with stuff like this again!
"Yes?"
Even if you wanted to-You couldn't help her!
"ALLEN!"
Blinking, silver blue eyes look around, finding a familiar face staring at him with a look of confusion and concern. "What was that Allen? You just totally spaced out on me!" Lenalee was on the verge of tears as she finally sighed in relief.
"Sorry Lenalee..." He winces as a pain emanated from his cheek, instinctively he reaches for it, his chilled, gloved hand helping the ache. With the way her hand was lifted up at an angle, he's able to piece together how he was able to return to reality.
She slapped him...and from the feels of it-Hard. "You really scared me. Come on, let's hurry." Allen could only nod silently as he began his climb up the steep steps. His limbs were a bit shaky as he glanced about. Road was nowhere to be seen despite just speaking to him.
But he could still sense her. But much to his surprise...she wasn't the malicious, dark entity that's been making him uncomfortable the entire time he's been there. So that only begged the question. What-or rather who...didn't want him here?
"Here's the rest of the supplies." The living doll couldn't blame her friend for scrunching his nose in distaste. "How long had he been planning to use the mansion for Halloween?" There were four huge boxes covered in dust and cobwebs.
If this was a prank, it wasn't very funny. "He said he started a week ago...but knowing him? I'd wager he started this a month in advance." Both sigh in irritation as they go about grabbing the boxes. Allen taking three, forcing Lenalee to take one. "I can take another box Allen! Don't carry so much."
The albino only gave her a smile before nudging his chin. "Ladies first." Huffing with a roll of her eyes she leads the way out of the bottom portion of the attic. "Will you come back?" Allen paused midstep, looking over his shoulder. There she was.
Standing there with a sad gleam in her eyes. "I won't ruin your party promise! But you have to come back. Please?" Everything within him was screaming that this was not a deal he should take. His past experiences with aiding the dead move on told him as much. And yet...
Watching her sway and plead. On the verge of tears. It just wasn't in him to refuse. "Promise." He was a gentleman after all. "Really?" It helped that she was also one of the nicer ghosts he's seen in awhile. "Of course." This was just the beginning.
To be continued
