Deadly Secrets
Chapter 3
Author Notes: Hey guys how's it going? Is everyone winding down from the spookiness of Halloween? Well-according to Sen, it is not what I dub Octwober so this is going to be an ongoing thing lol. Here we go I do not own DGM.
? P.O.V
He's there waiting.
Deep within the shadows that twist and twirl.
It gives chills, makes your toes curl.
Still you come.
Despite the painful past you hailed from.
Now dark hands reach out towards you.
Just what can a ghost whisperer do?
"Hey guys, do you think Allen's alright?" Much to everyone's surprise, despite Lavi trying to tempt fate halloween was a success. The party was fun, games were played and there was no spooky sightings or possession whatsoever.
In fact the only reason the party ended was due to a pair of cops showing up after being called about the commotion. "What do you mean Lenalee?" Lavi blinked his one good emerald eye as she bit her lip. Her hands trembling slightly as she put her books into her locker.
She stayed quiet for a minute longer before voicing her thoughts. Having had an entire week to think about it. "Since the party he's been...distant. And that doesn't count him acting odd During the party." A small hum escapes the ginger, having already knowing about the albino's little spacy act.
It was odd to be sure, but nothing they haven't seen before. Allen liked to daydream a lot. Frankly the senior student wasn't worried about that or the distant part. "Considering exams coming up I'm not surprised if he's trying to get some extra studying in."
If anything he was worried about how there would be brief moments of fear in his eyes. Still, he didn't want to over analyze things. At least not without proof. And his idea did have some merit. Despite that reasonable explanation however, something was nagging her, that what was going on wasn't normal.
"Yeah..." Tapping his finger on the cold locker Lavi ponders in silence before giving her a wide grin. "Well...if you're so worried about the Moyashi-let's tail him~" From the look on her friend's face, it was clear to Lenalee that he actually had been wanting to do it for a while.
She really couldn't say she was surprised with his outburst. "What?" Typical snoop. "Oh come on Lenalady. You can't tell me you aren't curious. He never tells us anything. We don't even know what his parents look like or their names!" He had a point.
They had met Allen during the summer when he first came into town. He was very formal, polite as he met the three who were hanging out to the point where it took Lavi dragging the boy with them to hang out.
With the last several months Lenalee wanted to say they were close. Family even, but...now that Lavi mentions it, she wasn't so sure. Other then his name, age, the fact that he loves to eat and where he last lived...they didn't know anything about him.
"We'll follow him after school for a week. He won't ever know and even if he does discover us we'll just say we were taking a walk up until we saw him. Easy peasy~" She really hated how simple Lavi made his plans sound.
He always knew how to be so convincing. "Let's talk to Kanda about this. See what he has to say before jumping the gun." The black haired grump was nowhere to be seen, probably waiting for them in the cafeteria. "He probably won't give a shit but alright."
Despite her concerns...it was eventually agreed that they would investigate their friendly little sophomore, though like Lavi assumed Kanda thought this was a stupid conversation since it involved Allen. However like fighting the tide, it was impossible to deter the ginger so that's what they did for an entire week.
Every day after school, Monday through Friday, one of the trio(well more like duo) would stealthily follow the white haired teen. Taking a notepad and pen to document any and all locations/actions that they took notice of during their segment.
It was on Saturday that they decided to hang out at Lenalee's to check out what they discovered while tailing their friend. Yet...despite their findings, there was nothing too odd to be found with one small exception.
Day 1-Went to the public library and got multiple books. Went home.
Day 2-Went walking around town. Spoke to several different individuals on the street. Went home.
Day 3- Again went walking around town, visiting different houses and talking to people. Went home.
Day 4-Went to the grocery store to get food. Went home.
Day 5-Stayed after school to study. Went to the Noah Mansion. Went home.
It was that last day that left the trio of upperclassmen puzzled. "I thought Allen didn't want anything to do with the place." Their brows were furrowed. "Not to mention it was there that he was acting odd." Kanda snorts at the comment.
"You mean weirder then usual." Immediately he gets shushed by Lenalee, not in the mood for his rudeness. "Lavi you were following him the day he went to the library, did you see what books he got?" Her slight hopeful gaze turned somber when her response is a simple shake of the head.
No, of course he didn't. "What's the big deal with the Moyashi? So he goes to the mansion after doing his other normal shit. Maybe he forgot something at the party and has been looking for it." At the idea...both teens turn to Kanda who was rolling his eyes.
He really wasn't seeing why they were so paranoid and curious about Allen. Everyone's got secrets to keep, Kanda most definitely did. And they've known him for a couple months, that's not really enough time to come clean about every skeleton in your closet.
Not that he even cared mind you, he just didn't want to be going on a wile goose chase. As sad as it seemed, HE was the one that used common sense. "That's...a good point Kanda. But still-just something doesn't seem right! I have a feeling that things aren't as fine or normal as we think them to be."
Despite the argument Lenalee refused to let this rest. Not after the strange behavior her friend had at the party. "You ever think to just ask?" Now they all knew asking was pointless, though once more Kanda made a good argument.
Under normal circumstances, asking would be the best idea. "We all know Allen wouldn't be honest." But they knew Allen enough that trying to ask would be pointless. He wouldn't tell them of his troubles.
The guy was too polite and considerate for his own good. "So what are you going to do then? Stalking can only take you so far." Lavi threw a napkin at the brooding teen, but surprise, surprise he was right.
Before the conversation could continue the door bell rang, signaling the arrival of new guests. Immediately Lavi's green eye widens before hiding himself behind a menu. Silently cursing. "What's wrong?" Lenalee followed his gaze, furrowing her brow at the two men that walked in.
"It's the cops that crashed our Halloween party..." The elder of the two swept his dark, cold eyes on the trio. His wrinkled gaze full of recognition as he greets the three with a fake smile. "I take it all is well?" Lenalee, being the representative of kindness and manners nodded her head.
Offering a fake smile of her own. "Of course sir." Though she didn't like or trust this man in the least. And it was for more than just crashing the party. When she was younger her parents had died and this man Lvellie had been the one to throw her in foster care.
Instead of allowing her to stay with her brother, the bastard dragged her away. Leaving Komui to fight tooth and nail against the social worker in charge of her upbringing. "No trouble?"
His facial expression and tone seemed playful, but she remembered those eyes. "No sir." Cruelty hiding beneath a calm, polite mask. The time separated was short, a few months at most, but she could never forgive him for the trauma she had gone through under his scrutiny.
"Excellent. Well, I do hope you enjoy the snacks. They along with the beverages here are simply delightful. Link, if you are finished paying for our order, we shall go." As quick as he came he left, causing the girl to sigh in relief.
Grateful to see him go. "He rubs me in all the wrong ways." It wasn't just her who seemed uneasy with the elder's presence, though Lvellie only truly addressed her. But considering who her companions were, it was probably for the better. "Forget about him. What are we gonna do about the Moyashi?"
It was a rhetorical question, one that Lenalee and Kanda could tell considering the whiny tone in his voice. Well...his last two plans didn't fail horribly. Maybe it won't be too bad even if it's not a good plan? Third time's the charm right?
"What do you suggest you stupid rabbit?" Lavi had hoped one of them would ask. "Well it's simple Yu-Chan~ Let's go to his place and see what's up. We can investigate while hanging out with him." It seemed logical in theory...though this was Lavi suggesting it.
It was never so simple. But what choice did they have?

Author Notes: Only in fanfiction is it ok to stalk your friends. Seriously people don't do that lol, also we've now hit mysterville which is in all honesty one of two of Sen's priorities for this story request he gave me last year. Have Road in it, and make it a mystery.
So yay for me for getting those two things in early in this series(now here's to hoping I can finish it without choking on the end.) Everyone thank you all so much for reading. If you like this series please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean so much to me. Tchao for now.
