Deadly Secrets
Chapter 4
Author Notes: So...to be honest I was going to delete this story when I had written about a 1/3rd of chapter 3 since i had enough stuff for Halloween and then didn't like it, but anything and everything can be salvaged(and I also explained the scenario in chapter 1) So here we are. I do not own D gray man.
? P.O.V
A terrible fate fell.
Something that I never wished upon you and them.
The light vanished alongside your life.
Gone.
Without a trace.
Now just a fading memory of mine.
Still it is not the end.
Bear your anger and regret.
I can't turn back time.
No matter how badly I wish.
But the least I can do is remember.
And protect what was once yours.
Is still yours.
3rd P.O.V
"Is this the place?" Lenalee was clutching herself as a shiver goes up her spine. "Yep, this is where I saw the Moyashi walk home every time I tailed him." Of all places for Allen Walker to have lived, none of them ever truly expected the run down section known as Hollow Fields.
A place where even the poorest of souls are forced to dwell. And fester. "Let's just hurry up." Even Kanda was on edge with the way the civilians of this area were eyeing them. Crooks, the homeless, the dead...all of them lived side by side. "My God...the smell!"
All of them found themselves scrunching their noses as a putrid scent hit their nostrils. "Looks like we lost Johnny..." Their eyes widen at the sight of a body sprawled across the road, not moving. "Damn. Of all the ways he had to off himself-he had to take a nosedive..." The trio found themselves frozen from shock.
Just where the hell were they? "Poor bastard-I'll call Kloud. She'll get to work on finding a place for him. Though that'll probably take awhile considering..." Tears were falling down Lenalee's face as she began to hyperventilate.
"Come on...we don't need to see this." Lavi seemed to be the most composed of them, able to steer them down and away. But...it only made sense. When he first brought up the idea of following Allen the three of them had agreed that he should be the main investigator.
And even if he couldn't necessarily follow their favorite albino right after school...the ginger always made sure to watch Allen as he went home. He knew what to expect, still it didn't make him feel anymore horrible. "A warning would've been nice you damn usagi!"
For once the peppy, mischievous teen was quiet, his body tense. "I don't think I could've warned you about this Kanda. I know if one of you told me this I wouldn't have believed it. Not until I saw it with my own eye." Neither of his two companions weren't sure what he was thinking as he lead them.
"Here it is..." This wasn't a home. "Cut the shit Lavi. This can't be where the stupid Moyashi lives." A home is a building comprised of various materials that are stable and safe for numerous people to live in. What the senior brought Kanda and Lenalee to was in the nicest terms possible-a broken down shack.
The Noah Mansion was in better condition-and a fire on top of a family massacre took place there. "It's where I saw him enter everyday after all of his errands around town were done." His brow was furrowed in confusion as they quietly approached the eerie home.
There were voices. "Though he was always alone." Quietly the small group snuck around, finding a broken window to peer through. "You fucking brat!" They arrived just in time to find Allen slam against the crumbling wall.
"Stop it Cross! He's gone through enough." There stood two others, a woman that were it not for the tear streaked face and bruises covering her frame would be considered beautiful. And a man with crimson locks to go along with his crimson fist.
The students narrowed their eyes, all of them trying to see what this 'Cross's' face looked like, but it was hard to with the hat and mask. "Look what you made me do you freak! Now that's another repair that I'll have to pay for. I don't know why I let you convince me to take him in Anita. He's worthless."
With a huff the man left, apparently listening to the woman. "I'll be out. Don't cause Anita any trouble you hear me?" He didn't even bother waiting for a reply, ripping the door open and leaving. Allowing the cold, crisp air to invade the already poorly insulated building.
"I'm sorry Allen. I'm so sorry." Allen coughed as he tried sitting up, but stumbled as the wall cracked in vine like patterns. "Don't worry about it Anita. I'm used to this." He winced as gentle hands checked his face. Analyzing the damage.
Her face contorting in guilt and maternal worry. "That still doesn't make it right. Just because he's your guardian doesn't mean he can use you as a punching bag." A sigh escapes her as she helps the poor kid sit up. "Why did you bring up Neah and the Noah mansion Allen?"
Lavi, Lenalee and Kanda's eyes widen at the question, but fortunately keep their mouths shut as they listen. "...I wanted to investigate their deaths. Their case was never solved. And before you ask again...you know why." With a small sound and heartbroken expression the elder raven haired woman pulls him into a hug.
"Oh Allen, you sweet boy. I should've known after you started coming home late every day. But the Noahs are a touchy subject to Cross. Feel free to ask me anything but don't bring it up around him. He...still hasn't gotten over what happened to them." Her grip around him tightened.
The white haired teen could only sigh as he nodded against her. "I understand." He appreciated her warmth and concern, promising to be more careful. Together they pull away, with Anita softly brushing a few white strands away from his face.
Revealing two different colored eyes. "I think you've done enough investigating for a day. Why don't you head into your room and rest. I'll get to work on dinner." Allen didn't really have a choice in the matter as he's helped to his feet. "Thanks Anita...for everything."
They couldn't hear her answer as the injured pair make their way out of the room. Out of sight and out of hearing distance. "What do you three think you're doing? It's rude to spy on people." Their complexions pale as a deep voice rings right behind them.
Immediately Kanda turns around, ready to strike with his blade. However it's caught easily, stopping whatever momentum and force he was trying to use. Despite his surprise Kanda retorts, growling as he struggles to keep his grip. "The same could be said sneaking up on people."
A large baldheaded man? Woman? Raised an eyebrow as they looked the trio up and down. "When three unfamiliar young high school students come around these parts, its hard not to be curious. Especially when they end up standing out in the open spying on my friend." Their face contorted into a harsh scowl then.
Startling all of them when she easily lifted the sharp katana blade and Kanda several feet into the air. "The hell-let me go!" Were the situation not dire Lavi would've laughed his ass off. Sweat was dripping down his face as he waves his hands around.
"We-we're friends of Allen! We were worried about him and decided to pop by and visit." The strong, intimidating individual gave a look towards them all. Though now with less suspicion and more amusement. Still holding Kanda as if there was no weight to him.
Or blood dripping from their hands. "You're either stupid or reckless to come to these parts without him or anyone capable of protecting you." With one swift movement the swordsman is released, falling onto the ground enraged. His pride was taking a royal hit today it seemed.
Lenalee bit her lip as she glanced back at the window. "Do you know him?" It was not the muscular stranger who answered but a kind, warm voice behind them. "Yes. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that right now's not a good time to visit him. But you're all welcome to come in and have some tea."
Anita. Her cheeks were still puffy, her eyes still swollen, but she still smiled sincerely at the children standing before her. "Mahoja I want you to come inside as well. We need to get that hand of yours wrapped up." There were no arguments to be found as they all followed her in.
to be continued.
Author Notes: Wahoo~ I got Anita in this! Hated the fact that things happened in the manga with her, especially since instead of her we got Choji. No offense to anyone that liked the guy, but I thought he was a jerk in what manga chapters I read.
