Deadly Secrets
Chapter 9
Author Notes: Heya! Last time I brought it Tyki and Neah-only for Allen to collapse...isn't that fun? Now, let's continue changing things up with our little quote? Statement? Opening perspective? Yeah that's it, opening perspective. I do not own DGM
Allen's P.O.V
There are times when I fall asleep...I dream of a past I was never involved in.
Usually i'm in a daze, confused as I stand...
The world around me moves, people walk by me without a care.
But it's not real.
I'm not real.
I see things I shouldn't.
Feel emotions that aren't mine.
In these dreams-their memories...i'm an intruder.
Desperately I try to wake up. To leave.
But hands keep me in place.
The ghosts, they drag me here.
Forcing me to watch-to endure.
To understand.
And understand I do.
3rd P.O.V
...That didn't stop Allen from approaching, his fingers unconsciously moving forward, perfectly matching Neah's movements note for note. Under normal circumstances, Allen would've never approached such a wicked entity.
His past strengthening his survival instincts. But this man...was his uncle. His dear father's brother. And even without that knowledge, he could tell this ghost wasn't evil, but broken. A being stripped to his emotions so strongly that he can't rest.
A song that perfectly explains what he wants. Closure, to move on and finally sleep. Words weren't used, there was no gaps or pauses when human and ghost played alongside one another. As they continued, the miasma started to fade away.
Making it more tolerable for Allen to breathe. Minutes went by, and in unison they gently pressed the last key, letting it linger a few more moments. It was a couple seconds after Allen collapses, falling onto the ground with a harsh thud. "That was a bit harsh don't you think?"
Neah doesn't bother answering, instead looking down at the white haired boy. Despite falling so suddenly, his expression was peaceful, as if he simply fell asleep. "Seriously Neah...did you have to poison the boy?" A huff escapes the elder spirit as he kneels down.
"Never stopped you from lighting a cigarette. Lulubell, Road and Adam told you time and time again how bad it was for you and everyone near you. Even in death you still choose to smoke. I swear you're just as bad as Cross." Tyki had his hands up in surrender.
Alright fair enough point. Not that those previous concerns really matter now. He's dead. "So we've got an unconscious ghost whisperer. Now what? You going to possess him like that last sixth sensed fool?"
His response was an unamused frown. "Hardly, the last one was a bastard that was trying to exorcise us. Besides...even if I wanted to, I couldn't." This was Mana's son. The one thing his dear brother praised and treasured above all else.
How could he? "Oh sure. Possessing him is a big no no, yet poisoning him with a toxic, malicious smoke until he faints is totally fine. Glad to see you got your priorities straight." This was the first time they've spoken to one another in years.
Despite the time that's passed, their relationship was the same as ever. Snarky, witty comments that were sent back and forth like a game of tennis between children. "Can it. He needs to know what happened that night-and I needed to make sure he didn't react badly and hurt himself." Tyki rolled his eyes.
Snuffing out another cancer stick. "Let's just hope your little stunt didn't give him a concussion. Pretty sure his collapse woke up everyone on this floor. And I'm not going to be the one dealing with Lulu when she finds out." That was fine. The younger male always ran whenever Lulubell got angry anyways.
Leaving Neah to play peacemaker. "No matter what I'd be dealing with her wrath. Still, she'll understand-and even if that wasn't the case she's a bit preoccupied at the moment. We have some unwanted intruders coming to dismantle our home. Again."
With a curse, the smoking specter vanishes. Most likely to see who else was aware of the unsought company-as well as tattle on Neah's recklessness. Which again was fine by him. He could go ahead an continue without distraction.
"Alright Allen...seems I've ignored you long enough. Let's look into what happened that night shall we?" At this point Neah and the others had long given up on trying to cross to the other side. To rest. Well, with the exception of Road.
Who had unfortunately gone and dragged Allen into their mess. Still, it wasn't a surprise to find the teen here. Something told the golden eyed ghost that regardless of circumstance...this poor lost boy would've found himself on these ancient, charred footsteps...
Allen wasn't sure how long he had his eyes closed, or even became aware of himself. It felt like he was floating, shifting through darkness without worry. In a world of black. 'THOSE IMBECILES!' With a harsh shout and rough slamming of doors, came a startle jerk that brought him back to reality.
Or rather, him reliving Neah's memories. Neah's past reality. Though he could've gone without the heart attack as he swiftly sits up. 'What's wrong dear?' Allen blinked as he saw Lulubell, sitting, alive with a book in her hand.
'Those damn cops are either blind or being paid off. They're ruling Mana's death an accident-and worse they're throwing my nephew into an orphanage!' Neah was outraged, practically pacing upon the carpet as his wife sighs.
It looks like they were in the library Allen was in before searching for Neah. 'Have you spoken to father? You know with his connections he can get a private investigation done.' His uncle's mouth twists sourly.
As if he already knew she would suggest that. 'I was going to, however he's currently in a private meeting with some important clientele and Officer Lvellie. He's going to be busy for awhile. Even if he could it's still not going to help with my other problem...Allen isn't doing well.'
The white haired teen find himself shocked. 'What do you mean?' He didn't think Neah thought about him after Mana died. He had never met the man up until now. Figuring that before he died he was too filled with grief to even care about him.
'The boy's in a coma, his entire body's a mess and they don't think he can see out of his left eye. Yet despite being horribly injured they're deciding to throw him into a random off the road orphanage stating his name as Allen Walker instead of Allen Cambell.' It made no sense to the couple.
Their family was rich, easily able to financially afford(and then some) any needs to take care of his wounds. And the fact that they had no problem identifying Mana, they're declaring the boy with him, not his biological son!? 'Why would they do that? Especially since you filed to take him as his guardian.'
It was downright suspicious. 'I don't know. I called Cross to come over later and talk about that.' Immediately his spouse raised an eyebrow. 'Cross? Marian Cross?' And frankly Allen couldn't blame her reaction. Once a bastard-always a bastard...how he got Anita no one knows.
'Hey-he may be an asshole that likes to drink to the moon and back. But he's my best friend and a damn good lawyer.' Now Allen was really skeptical. Cross? His dead beat, abusive, drunkard of a guardian... a lawyer!?
And not just a lawyer...but a Good one? Hell must've frozen over. 'Let's hope he can create a miracle then. If the police are making these shady calls on the incident that's so clearly obvious to anyone with a pair of eyes then there's clearly a problem.'
Before they can say anymore on the subject the doors suddenly slam open again. Once more effectively giving Allen a heart attack. The perpetrator this time being Road. 'Uncle Neah~ Auntie Lulu-Cross is here!' It was perfect timing.
'Shall we go my love?' Arm and arm the two of them follow their skipping niece. Only for all of them to stop dead in their tracks as an all too familiar sound hits their ears. 'Lulubell-you and Road go hide. Now.' There wasn't any time for protests.
As much as the blonde woman wanted to follow after her husband, she had to protect her niece. So she took the girl by the hand. Already Allen knew of Road and Lulubell's fate. Both would die not knowing who caused this.
So he followed Neah, watching him rush towards the sounds of screams and bullets flying. When the Noah family successor made his way down the stairs, with little trouble headed into the main dining room, his gaze immediately lands on the shooter. '?'
But what surprised both Neah and Allen was who it was holding the gun. Wide eyes caught blood on the walls, bodies on the ground, and a bullet piercing Neah's shoulder. 'Grahh!' He falls to his knees, panting in panic and fear as he stares in disbelief.
'Cr-Cross? The hell are you doing!?' The man was silent as he stood there. Still pointing the silver pistol Neah's way. 'Nothing personal.' Another bullet. One clean shot to the head...and that was it.
The world around Allen faded to black-his body glowing as the memory fades. "No that...Cross!? He did it!?" There was no way. "It is." Neah walked towards him, his expression grim. "You just saw what happened. Those were my last moments alive."
This didn't make any sense. "It took awhile for me to return as a ghost. But when I did, I discovered the mansion was burned, and all of my in-laws that I lived with were dead. And Cross nowhere to be seen." So it was more than just Mana dying.
He was betrayed from his best friend. "Did...did Cross kill Mana too?" Allen was afraid now...very very afraid. For years he had lived with Cross and Anita. They had moved many times, traveled to different places up until now.
And admittedly not one time has he ever had a good experience with his drunk guardian. Loved Anita to bits. But hated the man with a passion. Still-he never would've guessed him responsible for the Noah family's massacre.
Especially after how he reacted when Allen asked about the Noah Mansion. Cross was livid, beating the shit out of him-questioning why he would dare bring that subject up. Now that he knows though, it left him uneasy.
"I don't know. I don't know what to believe anymore. Anyone could've killed Mana, it could've been an unexpected coincidence-or hell maybe Cross conspired the whole thing. But...I do know what I saw-and what I saw was that bastard put a bullet in my skull."
Allen bites his lip, wrapping his arms around his shivering body. Wait? How long has he been shaking? His mind was unraveling as bile tried forcing its way up his throat. The realization haunting more than ghosts ever could.
"I'm sorry you had to see that. As well as being unable to help you when you needed me." Carefully, a gloved hand reached, gently stroking the teen's cheek. Smiling sadly as tears streak down Allen's eyes. "What do I do now?" That question left Neah confused.
Concern quickly morphing his expression. "What do you mean?" A choked sob escapes the boy as he collapses. Falling to his knees in a harsh thud onto the decayed carpet. "Allen!?" His shivers grow worse, the tears fall faster. "I live with Cross. What do I do?"
to be continued
Author Notes: Now isn't that a nice ending to a chapter? Last time I made Allen faint-hitting his head painfully onto the ground. And in this one I give the poor boy trauma and an anxiety attack...I'm Sorry Allen!
