Deadly Secrets
Chapter 10
Author Notes: It's another day and another chapter. As I'm sure I mentioned the last chapter(hopefully) we're changing perspectives and making things a bit more...cheery. Maybe...let's get this shindig going~ I do not own DGM.
? P.O.V
There is always more than what meets the eye.
Nothing is ever truly in black and white.
But a series of grays.
There is always a hidden message in a story.
A secret conversation woven between the lies.
A mystery is never truly solved, until all the pieces are properly secured into place.
3rd P.O.V
A sigh escapes Lavi as he looks around. At this point ignoring the terrible sounds of Kanda trying to bash the door open. "Give it up Yu-all you're gonna get are bruises." The Japanese male growls at him. "Then hurry up and figure out a way out of here-Baka Usagi!"
Another sigh escapes the ginger. "No luck Lavi." Damn, this just wasn't good. "You checked every book Lena?" His pigtailed friend rolled her eyes, exasperated as she places her hands on her hips. "Yes Lavi. I checked every book, searched for any switch-but there's nothing." It wasn't a surprise.
Despite the situation they were currently in sounding like something out a movie or fanfiction, there sadly were no tropes there indicating a possible, mysterious way of them escaping. And all of their phones were practically useless.
Either dead or no service, meaning there was no way for them to call for help. "Tch-I'm going to kill that Baka Moyashi!" And with the paranoia of questioning if they're ever going to get out came the millionth and one time that Kanda has blamed and threatened to kill Allen.
"Chill out. We'll get out of here." It was just a matter of how. "You could help you know!" Both Lenalee and Kanda were giving irritated looks his way. The fact that both of them in unison said that was bone-chilling. "I am, I'm trying to see if maybe there's a damn key hidden away to unlock the door."
Of course like every other idea he's come up with...It's a dead end. Taking a break, Lenalee rests her back against the wall, pulling up her phone(it being the one that though is charged...has no service) to check the time.
And from the look on her face, she wasn't pleased with what she saw. "We've been here for hours now. I'm sure all of our families are worried." Already they could visualize the panic(and rage) their relatives were in.
Considering how late it was, there was no doubt it was dark out. Still surprisingly they had no problems seeing. For whatever reason, even after dealing with a deadly fire, the lights in here still worked. Allowing Lavi to look through the various books lying around.
This room based on the décor was some kind of office or meeting room for the adults, as there were various books on politics and other heavy topics such as philosophy, psychology and history. Though through them all, there was one that caught Lavi's eye.
One that stuck out like a sore thumb. "A record on the Noah family history?" Curious he grabs the leather tome. surprised, like with everything else that it was in decent condition. He could read it. "Let's see..." In the thick pages was a deconstructed family tree.
Names and descriptions of each member of the Noahs, the farthest dating back to the late 1800s. "Huh." There were many names that were unfamiliar to Lavi, which wasn't much of a shock as he didn't move into this town with his grandfather until he was fourteen.
Long after the Noah's mysterious end. But there were still a few that he could recall when walking along the streets. Lulubell, the head honcho himself Earl Adam, Road, Neah Cambell. "Guess he married into the family? Wonder what his story was." Tyki, Borac... "What weird names."
He was about to shut it, knowing he was simply wasting time when he should've been looking for another solution out of this room when he paused. On the back of one of the pages was a thin line. Something that could've easily be mistaken for a pen mark.
But as Lavi gently slid his finger up the crease, he discovered it was a slit. An intentional clean cut that opens. "Interesting little pocket." Carefully he opened the slit, his eye widening as there was a letter of some kind within it.
It was a bit of a struggle to take out, but it was doable. "A will?" Before Lavi could begin to unravel the contents the door opened. Shocking everyone. "What the-Moyashi!?" There, right there releasing them from their imprisonment was the missing boy himself.
Who with puffed up eyes was looking at them in confusion. "What are you guys doing here?" Kanda pointed his sword at him. "That's our line! The hell are you doing here? Why'd you lock us in!?" Sparks began to fly as Allen scrunched his face.
Pissed off. A typical reaction when dealing with the samurai wannabe. "I didn't lock you in! I didn't even know you guys were here until I heard you banging." Questions were on the tip of Lavi's tongue.
Starting with has Allen's eye always been red? "Allen-oh it's so good to see you." Along with why did it look like he was crying? Why was he here at the mansion in the first place? And what's with that necklace? He didn't at all recall Allen having it before(then again its been a week.)
But the look Lenalee gave him spoke volumes. Knowing very well as to what he was thinking. Now wasn't the time for an interrogation, despite how curious and worried they all were. "Allllleeeennnn~ We missed you!"
Questions had to be put on hold for now. "Seriously-how did you guys get in here? Why are you here?" No matter what they were all due for a nice, long chat. But that was after all of them got home, or at least called up their families to let them know they were alright.
"We'll talk more on that later-let's get out of here!" Together the group walk towards the exit, with Allen moving a bit slower, silently lagging behind. Lavi takes a glance over his shoulder. Watching his friend staring at the room they were just in.
His face pursed with thought, as if he was thinking deeply about something. No idea what on earth what considering the day all of them have had. "You coming Al?" It took another moment before Allen nodded, swiftly catching up with him. "Yeah, sorry."
He was definitely acting weird. And Lavi's suspicions just keep growing. "Wanna do a sleepover tonight?" So he had to keep his white haired friend in his sights. "A sleepover?" And what better way than to suggest a sleepover? So what if it was a random offer?
Allen didn't say no. "How come?" If anything he looked puzzled, with a hint of suspicion. Which again, was to be expected-he had to at least have a vague idea that they were trying to find him. Knowing he's been avoiding them...
"Well we haven't seen you in ages so I've been wanting to catch up-plus my house is closer. I don't really feel right letting you walk home with how dark it is." Usually Allen would simply wave his hand, stating that things would be fine.
That this wasn't the first time he's had to trek through the dark. Then he would go on a mini story on something that happened that would leave Lavi collapsing on the floor laughing...questioning if it was a true story or not.
Yet that didn't come. "Would your grandfather mind?" Instead his younger classmate was unable to meet his gaze, gently holding his left arm. "Not at all." It left the ginger even more concerned. Wrapping one arm around the shorter teen, he grinned.
Mentally cringing at just how skinny-how bony Allen was. "Come on-let's go get warmed up! I'll have the Old Panda whip us up some yakisoba and hot chocolate~" The two share a small laugh. With one green eye warily staring at the necklace.
Unable to really ignore it. It was definitely a new addition, and unique at that. Now Lavi wasn't too knowledgeable on metals, but it looked like it was made of stainless silver. A mask design of some sort carefully interwoven with a thin, matching chain.
"What's with the new fashion accessory? Looks nice." Immediately a gloved hand reaches up, clutching it gently as if trying to hide it. Or remembering it was even there. "It was a gift, one that I couldn't really refuse..."
to be continued
Author Notes: What's a way to brighten up a mystery based story? Well if my Defy series is anything to go on-step 1 have an entertaining eccentric character drag the main character into a sleep over.
Step two...make that segment the end of a story to make it a cliffhanger. Isn't that fun? Especially since it's Lavi. Mr. Curious Snoop himself. One way or another he's going to start digging for information, and it'll be interesting to see what goes down.
But that is it for today. Everyone thank you for reading my story. If you like please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to me. See you tomorrow-tchao for now.
