Deadly Secrets
Chapter 14
Author Notes: Chapter 14 boys and girls, and just to give you a warning...i may not be as meticulous with uploads this week. Why do you ask? Holiday season is here...and my bum is getting a ton of hours.
And more hours means less time to edit and breathe. And with being tired i am more likely to forget to upload. So if there's a few days...or a week missing as far as this story being uploaded. That is why. I'm sorry in advanced and I do not own DGM.
3rd P.O.V
"Dammit!" Neah couldn't believe this. "We'll figure something out Neah, calm down." Oh no, he most certainly was NOT going to do that. "Calm down? CALM DOWN!? Are you kidding Tyke!? How can I when that bastard has my nephew hostage!?" A sigh escapes his in-law.
He desperately wanted a cigarette. "Panicking and shouting profanities will do us no good. Road went to go see if she could find ghosts or one of Allen's friends to help, and Lulu went to go awaken our other relatives. We just got to wait for them." Neah snarled at the younger man.
Any aristocratic composure he was gone for-along with his patience as he pointed his glove down towards the small group of mortals. "That bastard is threatening my kin Tyke! And I can't do a fucking thing to stop him!"
As a ghost he had little power to do anything. Sure with his temper and focus he could chill the air, slam doors or even drop something. But stopping a police officer- Malcom Lvellie of all people from putting a bullet in the poor kid's head was going to take a miracle.
At the very least it was going to take more than just him. "There's got to be something..." Right now all they could do was stand around and watch. Praying that Cross and Allen don't say or do something to provoke the man. Less they join the realm of the dead.
"Though I have to say...that answer puzzles me. Cross...you told me that you have Neah's necklace after killing him. So why does he have it?" Cross mentally cursed, though he simply shrugged. Acting like the fifteen year old brat he took in wasn't in a life or death situation.
Which...in all honesty wasn't a surprise considering how many times the alcoholic threw debt collectors the boy's way. "Guess the necklace I took from Neah's corpse was a fake he wore. Don't really know what to tell you." Ohhh if only Neah was alive again.
He'd strangle his ex best friend. "You inconsiderate, selfish, abusive prick!" Silver and red eyes glance up for a moment, shining in hope for a fleeting moment before the chain around his neck is pulled. Neah's expression contorts in rage seeing his brother's son wince.
"Is that right? Tell me young man. You've been coming in and out of this here mansion. What do you know?" It was painful to watch. Tyke scrunches his face in sorrow as Neah drops down by the teen. "Tell him whatever you need to Allen. Truths, lies, whatever he needs so you can live." If only.
The look in his eyes said it all, young freshman knew he wasn't coming out of this alive. Still he answers his captor's question with a shaky breath. "I found various diaries and documents pertaining the long history of the Noah's and the various members, but not much more than that."
It was a good statement. Not too detailed to give an air of mystery, to make Malcom to want to know more. It would buy time. "Oh? I take it one of them is Adam's correct?" But it was only going to get harder for Allen to keep himself relaxed.
Lvellie was a notorious interrogator. Easily able to get the information he wants. "Yes sir." He was like a snake, able to sneak around, play with his prey before going for the kill. "Did any of them mention the Noah's Mask? Or Adam's riches?" This wasn't good.
The old man was cross referencing, checking to see if Allen was lying. Because there was no way Lvellie didn't know about those journals. Let alone not be aware of the contents hidden within. After the fire, the elder officer was put in charge of the case. Searching for any survivors or motive.
What a joke, it was so obvious now as Neah and Tyke float there. "Yes, but I didn't understand or care about that." Tyke winced, nearly crushing the cancer stick in his hand. "Shit." Lulubell and Road better hurry.
"Why is that? For what purpose did you come in and out of that mansion? Asking questions around town, reading records from the local library. Why!?" He was getting impatient, the trigger finger twitching.
Tension rose in the room. "I-I wanted to know what happened to the Noah's. Why they died that night." The chill growing stronger, as Neah snarls, wishing he could materialize after Allen gets smacked to the ground.
Tyke would've grabbed him to hold him back, but there was no point. "Bastard!" Neah would only go through him. "WHY. DO. YOU. CARE? For what purpose would you go and stick your nose where it doesn't belong?"
Slow puffs of air escapes the teen as he holds his pained cheek. "What does it matter old man? You got the necklace. Adam's riches are supposedly right there behind you. What the hell are you harassing the kid for?" That was the wrong thing to say.
The gun swiftly moved towards the white haired boy's guardian. "Don't question me Cross! None of this would've happened if you just did what I told you. Kill all members relating to the Noah family and hand over the necklace." At that everyone, both living and dead froze.
"What?" Malcom smirks down as Allen pales, his eyes full of hurt and confusion. "Didn't figure out the truth yet? Well let me spell it out for you...you've been living with the man responsible for the Noah Mansion Massacre." The sadistic bastard was getting pleasure out of this.
Enjoying how much pain he was causing Allen, but he wasn't even done. "And...you're currently staring into the eyes of the man who killed Mana Cambell. Since Cross was too much of a bitch to do the job for me." No.
It was too quiet. "Daddy?" Something was wrong as Allen rubbed his eyes. "Allen we're going to play hide and go seek ok?" Why was it still nighttime? "How come?" The five year old woke up quickly enough, but frowned as his father locked the door to the room they were currently staying in.
"Because I want to silly child. Now, you're going to hide somewhere I can't see you ok? I'm going to count silently to thirty, and no matter what I want you to stay hidden. Keep quiet." His father never frowned while playing games.
And they never played in a locked inn's room either. "Ok." But Allen's never disobeyed his father before, not wanting to upset him. "Make it a really special place Allen, you gotta be creative." So dutifully he does as asked.
Instead of hiding under the bed, or in the closet as one would typically expect, the tiny child made his way towards the tv nestled nicely on an antique wooden cupboard from across the bed. Scrunching his body, he shimmied his way inside, closing it slightly in front of him.
Enough to where he'd be out of view without anyone realizing it was opened, while giving him the ability to see through the little gap. It was his best hiding spot considering the conditions. He waited, long used to playing hide and seek to know how to slow his breath.
Silent as a mouse. But his father didn't go searching for him after thirty seconds. Instead the door smashed open. "Mana Cambell." Allen was shaking, terrified as big men in black came in. Speaking harshly towards his dad.
"I don't know who you are or why you're following me, but you need to leave." Allen couldn't hear exactly what was being said. His heartbeat was pounding in his ears, and he could barely see with how dark it was.
But he did see a flash from the gun before a loud popping sound went off. "Guh!" Not even a second later his father fall to the floor. Desperately the five year old wanted to scream, to go to his fallen kin. "Burn the place to the ground. Leave no evidence." However he couldn't move.
His limbs wouldn't work how he wanted them to, he couldn't even think as an intense rustic scent hit his nose. "No sign of the boy." The lights were still off, keeping the room shrouded in darkness. The men that barged in were evil shadows.
"He'll be taken care of when the time comes." For a brief moment there was an orange glow.
A man.
A gun.
Fuel.
Flames.
Anger replaced fear, hatred engulfed his thin being. "Why? Why did you kill him!?" Not that Malcom really cared, he was used to receiving such hostile expressions. There was nothing Allen could do to stop him.
Even if he decided to be a reckless fool and attack-if not the older officer, than Link would be able to easily shoot him dead. The only reason both he and Marian Cross were still alive was so Lvellie can gather more information while torturing the pair.
"Neah and Mana Cambell were blood brothers. Not only did Neah have a will written that should the unthinkable happen to him, his belongings and riches go to Mana and his family. Meaning you're next in line for the inheritance. But Adam's also specified any member would also get a portion evenly divided...among all living members of his family should he pass."
As it stands, though through marriage...Allen was a member of the Noah clan, and currently the only one still alive. Should he live...whatever's beyond that door would be his. "Aren't you the least bit curious?" No, frankly Allen was not.
He never cared about getting rich and even if he did, it was only so he could help Anita recover from her illness. Bonus if he could get rid of Cross's debts once and for all...in any case, he wasn't one full of greed.
A simple life, with simple needs. Maybe a once in a blue moon want, like a tasty, fancy dessert. "Start walking Mr. Walker. Marian." Never would he desire oodles of money. Especially from people that were apparently dead relatives.
With a harsh yank, the silver chain snapped off, nearly choking the teen in the process. "Let's take a gander shall we?" Shaky, anticipating fingers swiftly inserted the mask key into the matching mold. Undoing the lock. Together the group consisting of four humans and two ghosts descend behind Adam's secret room.
