Hi guys! I don't know if EvilCharming fanfics are still a thing, but here comes nothing :D
Please check it out and let me know if you want me to continue this one :D
She knew that the curse was broken the moment dark magic coursed through her body, poisonous purple flashing in her eyes. It was almost like a tickle, an itch that just begged to be scratched. It was something she both missed terribly and despised with all her being.
Regina supposed it was an anomaly. Rumple never mentioned anything about magic returning once the curse breaks, but he also didn't mention that the curse could break in the first place, so there was that.
Now that the memory of her finding out about Emma a long time ago (and choosing to forget) restored itself from the magical blast of Emma's kiss, she knew it was inevitable, the curse breaking. She also knew that Rumple was truly the worst. Promising someone a happy ending only to take it back for selfish reasons was worse than anything she has ever done… and she did horrific things.
But at this moment, she didn't care about any of that, nor was she worried about people rushing through the hospital door to end her. All she cared about was Henry.
Regina was aware now more than ever that Henry would despise her. She lied to him his whole life, made him think he was crazy, she did everything to him that her mother once did to her and knew that Henry had every right to not just despise her, but want her dead as much as anyone else in the town.
Despite all that, she needed to let him know, at least one more time, that no matter what, her heart was still capable of love. She rushed to his side and crouched down to his level, looking straight into his sparkling eyes with her tearful ones. Her heart sunk in her chest instantly and she had to try hard not to fall apart then and there.
All she managed to blurt out came out like a broken whisper "No matter what anyone thinks, no matter what anyone says, I do love you".
With that she allowed herself to get enveloped in purple smoke and disappear, proving once more that magic was back indeed.
„Was that...?" David took a moment to separate from Snow when a cloud of smoke cleared. Even though the two possessed no other magic than true love, they could both feel the shivers, knowing exactly what that meant.
„Regina?" Snow cocked her head to the side as if she was expecting an answer from David.
„I don't know" He simply stated, shrugging his shoulders.
And he truly didn't. If he had to guess, David suspected Gold to be the one to do something so reckless and destructive more than Regina. She was evil, not stupid. Magic doesn't belong in this world and she knew that.
He hated the way he knew her that well. Even though it was clear their entire relationship was a sham, David still couldn't get rid of the flutter in his chest at the mention of her name. It angered him more than he was willing to admit.
„You do know we will have to talk about that, right?" Snow noticed the change in his demeanor as soon as she said her stepmother's name. Her cursed self couldn't help but be a little jealous of the way his body tensed.
Snow from the Enchanted Forest knew she was the one Charming loved, but David never paid much attention to Mary Margaret and as much as it was all part of the curse, one had to wonder... did his heart know the difference now?
„Nothing to talk about" David stated matter of fact, but it still didn't help Snow feel any better.
„You know emotions like that don't disappear overnight?" She persisted, not backing down even though she knew full well this was not the place nor the time to talk about his love affair with their enemy.
„They do when they're fake" he huffed. Oh, how he wanted to believe that.
„Were they?"
At that he finally pushed himself away from her, angry at the fact she was pushing him, angry because he didn't have an answer to her question because he was asking himself the same one. His emotions were running wild as did hers, but there were more important things to handle now.
„Stop Snow! I just reunited with you and I want us to join our family now. Regina doesn't matter now!" he raised his voice enough to be heard by Dr. Hopper who was already rushing towards the pair.
„That's not quite true" Archie was breathless. The cricket missed his wings now that he was gasping for air, leaning on David as he spoke.
„David, it's Regina. Whale and the others are going to her house, you have to stop them. They are going to kill her!"
"You wanted to see your queen? Well, my dears… Here... she is "
There was a moment of silence among the crowd, everyone (Regina included) shocked by the lack of fire coming from Regina's palms. It was an unusual sight, the Evil Queen left powerless against the crowd of simple townsmen and one doctor no one knew or even cared for.
Whale, of course, wasted no time the moment he saw the terrified look on her face. He rushed towards her and pinned her to a large pillar of her house, his body pressed against hers almost inappropriately.
"I am so going to enjoy watching life leave your eyes," he snarled at her, the fire burning in his eyes while Regina's were filled with tears, the ones she tried so hard to hold in.
She didn't want to go out like this, strangled by Frankenstein as commoners watched. It wasn't even remotely how she imagined her death, the one she had dreamt about so many times.
Before, when they were in the Enchanted Forest, Regina imagined she would be her own demise while being married to the King. She wished death many times, especially late at night when she would be called to his chambers. It was Rumple who always managed to talk her out of it.
When she was casting the curse, she almost believed Charming would be the one to kill her, but thankfully, her men stopped him just in time.
"No matter what you do to us, no matter what you mean to me in that world, I will find a way to end you!" She remembered his words loud and clear as if they were spoken yesterday. For the longest time, they echoed through her head, until she just decided to ignore them for her sake. They were coming back now because now it was time for him to make good on his words... perhaps.
Still, Regina was tired of fighting. After the day she had, all she wanted to do was cry and let her body lull her to sleep. After all, she had just lost everything. The curse was meant to be Regina's happy ending, and in some ways, it was.
Henry was her happy ending, but somehow David was too, and now that she had lost both with no way of getting them back, she was starting to wonder if maybe Whale's killing her would be for the best indeed.
Thankfully, she didn't have to find out, because as soon as Whale put his hands on her throat, there was a voice yelling from the crowd.
"Stop!" Emma reached towards Whale and pulled him from behind, freeing Regina from his grip. "Stop right now!" she repeated forcefully as Snow and Charming joined her side, Regina left to stand behind. They were trying to protect her.
"She deserves to die!" Someone from the crowd yelled while Whale was getting back to his senses, this time jumping at Charming.
"How can you stand next to your beloved Snow while knowing you shared a bed with the woman behind you just yesterday? How can you protect a monster? "
Whale whispered the words to the prince, despite his anger. He knew this would make him riled up, maybe enough to turn his back and kill Regina himself, but all David did was punch Whale in the face.
"Don't tempt me Whale, you have no idea what I am capable of. " David slurred the words in Whale's face. He was taken aback by his own words because they sounded so much like something Regina would say. Maybe she had more influence on him than he thought.
"My, my… You almost sound like your "wife" over there." Whale, as if reading David's mind, spoke words that made not only David flinch, but Snow as well. She was still behind her husband, but it was like she was watching a different man. Aggressive, determined, one fueled by rage she couldn't understand. It scared her.
"You wish to die today" David threw himself at Whale, now more forceful than before, hitting his face hard and fast. He was controlled by his anger, his "Prince" persona long forgotten. He was sure Whale wouldn't survive this, but he couldn't stop, it was all too much.
His past meeting his present, Regina being in danger, Snow being her usual self, too naïve for the world. He was angry at Regina, he was scared of how much he wanted to protect her. He was sad for Snow he'll eventually have to tell her that he wanted to be part of Regina's life despite everything. He hated himself for wanting his cursed wife over the one he chose centuries ago.
"ENOUGH!"
Regina screamed with all her might, the last ounce of strength leaving her body as she magicked the two men away. It seemed to have taken a toll on her because as soon as she used her powers, she started collapsing on the hard floor.
The last thing Regina felt before drifting off were strong arms beneath her, one's that could only belong to her husband.
