(1 week later...)
"Just let it end already." Melascula thought to herself. She had given up. She couldn't take the pain any longer. Her "teammate" had truly tried to kill her with her other ones basically did nothing. She had been burned, stabbed, beaten, and only one of her hearts remained. She hurts everywhere, she's freezing to death, and she had nothing.
"There's no reason to go on."
"Kill yourself, you worthless b..."
"The weakest link."
"Your mother's dead, Melascula..."
Sounds from her mind played. She couldn't tell whether they were memories, except a few, or words of the depression she was carrying since that day. She later there on the ground. Hungry, cold, and waiting for death to put her out of her misery. She closed her eyes, just waiting but for split second, she thought she saw something green.
--
Melascula's eyes slowly opened to a bedroom. Her jacket folded neatly on a chair next to the bed she was laying on. She felt...wonderful! Her jaw moved smoothly, her body no longer ached from the loss of the hearts, and the deep cut wound from Estarossa's blade was closed like it never happened. She wasn't letting her guard down though as this is usually found in the goddesses and the druids but it ceased as she smelt it. Booze.
She opened the door slowly to see a staircase with the great smell coming from downstairs. She floated down slowly to see if her hopes were true but...
"ELIZABETH!" Melascula said, in her head. "How is this possible? She should be dead! Zeldris told me so." Melascula thought as she stared from where Elizabeth couldn't see. "Hey!" A high voice said from behind, blowing her cover. She turned to see the captain of scraps disposal, Hawk. "Trying to sneak attack Elizabeth, huh? I'll kick your teeth out if you even lay a finger on her." Melascula could do nothing just stare in amazement. "How have they not cooked him yet?" She asked herself. "Hawk? What's the matter?" The princess asked, now seeing the demon. "Oh good, you're awake..." Elizabeth tried to say as Melascula went back to get her jacket to leave. She didn't follow as she wanted to keep her distance. She feel, however, sorrowful for Melascula. She couldn't imagine any of the sins doing to each other what estarossa did to her.
Melascula came down the stairs and now searched for the door. "Hey! You could say thank you to her for dragging you in here!" Melascula stopped and looked at Elizabeth. "Hawk, take it easy." Elizabeth said, calmly. She turned to the demon, noticing the confused look she gave her. "Um...do you want some ale?"
Melascula thought about this hard.
Stay with a sworn enemy but have a lovely drink or go back outside and start traveling again...but with no drink.
(Five minutes later)
"Why don't you...d...drink some? You run this...uh...place, don't you?" Melascula asked, drunk. She chose the alcohol. "I'm not old enough to drink yet." Elizabeth answered. "Sucker." Melascula said, chugging the 6th cup. Elizabeth's plan was working. Meliodas taught her that beer is basically how he gets information out of people, using it as a truth seeker. People, not even demons, can't hold back what's on their mind after a cup or two. She, however, offers food before questions. "You want some pie?" Elizabeth offered. Melascula felt hungry enough to nod yes and took a slice. Not one bite and she's throwing it up. A few minutes after, Melascula was at a point where she was too drunk to put up her usual guard. Elizabeth sits down next to her and begins interrogating...Elizabeth style!
"So...what happened out there for you to be on the ground like that?" Elizabeth asked. "Thinking..." Melascula answered. "About what?" Elizabeth asked. "...everything. Everything I've done up to this point and why I'm even here..." Melascula said, now sitting up. "Yeah." Elizabeth said. "...Why was I born?" Melascula asked.
"What?" "I've lost everything. My friends, my home, my mother...I don't want to live anymore!" Melascula yelled, tearing up. "Don't say that...it'll be ok." Elizabeth said, trying to get close to her. "My own ally stabbed me and tried to kill me! What's worse, I lashed out at everyone and I left cause I'm weak." Melascula yelled with rivers now coming down. "I gave so much of myself for so long. I gave my faith because mother said we were the superior race! And...and she's dead." Melascula said, putting her head down on the table in her own depression. Elizabeth understood everything about her now. She didn't know what to do. She'd never seen anything like this before. However, she had one idea.
She moved over slowly to the demon and hugs her. "Let it all out. No one is here but me. Let out all your feelings." Elizabeth whispered in her ear. For the next hour, they stayed in that position with Melascula switching from softly sobbing to loud wailing but Elizabeth didn't move a muscle. She let go once Melascula's tears ceased and fell asleep. Elizabeth took one last look at her before going to bed.
"I wonder...what would he do?"
