Everything was set. "Lady Elizabeth, take me hand. Melascula, take my other." Elizabeth and Melascula followed his order. Zaratras casted a chant then the whole environment change before Melascula's eyes.
"We've succeeded." Melascula and Elizabeth looked around and then stopped to look at what was left of Meliodas's old home: Danafor. "It's horrific! I can't believe my eyes." The three of them turned around to see the king and Zaratras. "Can they see us?" Melascula asked, floating closer to the king. "Not at all. This is a memory of the past." Melascula was confused. Why did they come all the way out there? "Over there! A boy." Melascula and Elizabeth could recognize his face anywhere. Meliodas. In his hands was what looked to be a baby. "That's you as an infant."
Past Zaratras approached the then unstable Meliodas. "Hey those are serious injuries. Let me take the little one." Meliodas smacked his hand. "Stay away from my women, you understand me?"
The scene changed to show the two then talking about Elizabeth being adopted by the king. "I'll let you on one condition. You give me a job as a holy knight." The request made Zaratras burst out laughing. About one second later, he accepted when he was on the floor. Melascula bursted out laughing herself. "Scared the shit out of you, didn't it?" Melascula said, stopping herself. "Yeah, little bit."
The scene changed again to show Meliodas with Elizabeth as a toddler running to hug him. "When he was appointed to royal family, you were the most attached." Melascula looked towards the little Elizabeth. She always had a thing for small children. Melascula had a few babysitting jobs before joining the commandments for small payment.
The scene changed again the kings throne room. "What! The whole kingdom will be seven sinners." Past Zaratras was dumbfounded. "Regard of that premonition, I've already done the research and the selection which just leaves us two, captain." Melascula turned to see a sin she hasn't seen yet. "A mage? As far as I know, the demons and the goddesses destroyed them all when I was a child." Melascula said. "Really?" Elizabeth asked. Melascula nodded. "Alright! The sins will destroy the commandments forever!" Meliodas said, confidently. "I'm flattered." Melascula said, sarcastically. "That was the plan all along?" Elizabeth asked. "Exactly." Zaratras answered.
The scene changed once more to a bar. "Hey you're faaaaace is red. I've seen you drink but I've never seen you druuuuunk..before." Past Zaratras said, obviously drunk. Melascula faced palmed herself, dumbfounded. One cup! Really? "I can drink an entire barrel. This is embarrassing." Melascula boasted. "Well I was only human." Zaratras admitted. "After three thousand years, you learn when to celebrate. If I'm this happy, still waiting for that curse to lift, I'd say it's time." Past Meliodas, feeling all the pain he went through coming back to his mind. "Three thouuusand years? No one's ever lived that long. Three thousand, yeah right." Past Zaratras stood up and walked towards Meliodas. Melascula couldn't laugh anymore as she thought this was this sight was absolutely pathetic but then again...she too grew emotional after some ale. "If I lived that long, I don't I'd stand it. I'd have to kill myself if that were the case." Past Zaratras said. "Tried everything...the curse won't let it happen." Past Meliodas admitted.
The scene changed once again(AUTHOR NOTE: see what I did there. :) sry to interrupt.) to a hallway in the castle. "Yo Elizabeth." Elizabeth immediately turned to Meliodas walking towards her. "What's wrong? Can't sleep?" Melascula could see in Elizabeth's eyes. She knew it wasn't but she wanted it to be. Elizabeth had tears running down her eyes. Melascula floated a bit closer. "You okay?" Melascula asked, gently. Though Elizabeth heard the demons question, she couldn't help but listen to Meliodas and her toddler form's conversation. "Will you be able to come to me right away?" The child asked. "Come on, is that what you were worried about?" Meliodas asked. Elizabeth's memory of that moment came back to her. "No matter where you might be, I'll always come back you alive." Meliodas told.
The scene finally changed back to the tavern bedroom. They were back. "Elizabeth, you gonna be alright?" Melascula asked, still caring for her friend. "Yes, he's coming back. He made a promise to me, didn't he?"
