"This is a bad idea," Shayera stated again as she and Diana watched the two male heroes enter the interrogation room. Diana merely rolled her eyes at Shayera before smiling brilliantly. "Nonsense, sister," she stated confidently, "You underestimate Kal."
"You overestimate Kal," Shayera replied. "We need answers."
"And Superman can get those answers," Diana claimed, "He is the strongest being on Earth."
"Physically," Shayera muttered as she folded her arms. Diana was allowing her feelings for the Krypton to cloud her judgment; however, Shayera wasn't going to tell her that. "Just give it a chance," Diana smiled, "he may surprise you."
"I feel the need to remind you that my life is the one on the line," Batman said before he and Superman entered the room.
"You have no faith in me," Superman beamed, "I can do this."
"Uh-huh," was Batman's response.
"Give me a chance. I may surprise you," Superman added. Batman stared blankly at his partner before entering the room. This would be, at the very least, entertaining.
"All right, Deadshot!" Superman stormed into the interrogation room, startling the hired assassin sitting at the one table in the room. Batman followed closely behind. "We need a name! And we want it right now!" He slammed the door behind him, hard enough to crack the wall and one-way mirror. Superman flinched. "Oops," he said sheepishly, "sorry." Batman raised a brow at the apology. "What I mean is," Superman quickly composed himself, "this broken glass is nothing compared to what I'll do to you if I don't get names and answers."
Deadshot leaned to the side, looking around Superman at Batman. "What is going on?" Deadshot asked Batman, feeling more confused than anything else.
"I'll ask the questions here!" Superman pointed a finger Deadshot's face. He quickly removed it as a memory of his Ma telling him it was rude to point replayed in his brain. "Umm…" Deadshot looked at Batman in confusion.
"Don't look at him!" Superman growled as menacingly as possible, "I'm in charge here!" Deadshot looked between Batman and Superman. "What?" Deadshot asked in disbelief.
"You better watch yourself with my partner here," Batman casually took a seat at the table across from Deadshot and continued dryly, "any little thing can set him off."
"Superman?" Deadshot scoffed. "Seriously? The guy Luthor tricks the same way over and over again?"
"Hey," Superman put his hands on hips. "Why do people see me as stupid?"
"You want the truth?" Deadshot asked him.
"You know what?" Superman glowered as menacingly as possible at Deadshot, "Batman, maybe you should step out for a minute. I want to have a private conversation with Deadshot here." Superman gently grabbed the ceiling light and shone it directly in Deadshot's eyes. "Let's put a little light on the subject."
"Ow," Deadshot protested at the same time, moving his head away from the light.
"Oh, sorry," Superman apologized immediately. "Is this too bright?" Superman looked at Deadshot and then Batman, whose blank face spoke volumes. "I-I-I mean," Superman stuttered before turning back to Deadshot, "it's nothing compared to my heat vision which would do some serious damage. So…talk," Superman demanded, sticking his finger in Deadshot's face once more.
Batman mentally face-palmed himself. He needed to step in. "You've gotta be kidding me," Deadshot said, completely unfazed by Superman's antics.
"Coffee?" Batman held a steaming cup of coffee in Deadshot's face, startling his would-be assassin.
"Ah!" Deadshot jumped away from Batman. "Where'd you get that?"
"I thought you might like some coffee," Batman smiled brightly…menacingly. "It's good."
"Ew," Deadshot shuddered, "why are you showing me your teeth? What is that?"
"You're going to need that coffee after I get through with you," Superman sort of yanked Deadshot to his feet.
"Donut?" Batman interrupted Superman once more, shoving the pastry in Deadshot's face.
"Get that away from me," Deadshot freed himself from Superman's grasp and moved away from Batman. "Is it poison?"
"No, it's chocolate," Batman stated with another unsettling smile. "Mmm, yum. Chocolate."
"Fine, I'll talk! I'll talk!" Deadshot yelled, "Just get him away from me!"
"Ha!" Diana said triumphantly at Deadshot's last statement. "I told you Kal could do it." She then turned away from Shayera with a satisfied hmph before leaving the room.
Shayera watched Diana leave before turning her attention back to the two men interrogating Deadshot. She smirked as Batman left the interrogation room. Seconds later, Shayera sensed a presence behind her. "That went well," she said to the darkness, watching as Deadshot told Superman everything he knew.
"Deadshot has never been so forthcoming with information. I should play good cop more often," Batman replied. Shayera smirked. "So," Shayera said, as Superman led Deadshot from the room, "are we still…?"
"I promised to take Robin on patrol as tonight is not a school night," Batman said.
"Oh…okay," Shayera swallowed. She should have known it was a one-time thing. She turned to leave. "But," Batman stopped her before she made it to the door, "the balcony door to my bedroom will be open. If all goes well, I should be back no later than 3," he finished as he brushed past her in his stereotypical Batman way. Shayera smiled. She would be there.
