Hello everyone! I'm not dead I'm sorry for the inconsistency of my updates but things happened and I couldn't write for a long while, but I've been in a writing mood, and since I had so much extra time since I was done all my homework (schools hard) I went and typed the entirety of chapter 15 in less than a week (that hasn't happened for a chapter since the first five. Anyway, I want to thank you all for your continued support of my story and for sticking with me and my inconsistency.
With all that said please review or pm your thoughts.
Chapter 14 - The beginnings of war
Natasha, Gray, Happy, and Lucy were returning to the guildhall after completing their so-called punishment. "Hey Ice Princess! We should just give master all of your shares since you barely helped at all" Natasha said. "What was that flame breath!? I did more than you so we should just give him all of your share!" Gray shouted. The two glared at one another while headbutting. "Come on you two we took an easy job with a low reward on purpose. We should just be glad that master didn't give us a severe punishment" Lucy explained.
Natasha and Gray deciding that Lucy was right backed off from one another as they got to the front of the guildhall. Natasha kicked the door in and shouted "We're back!" "Well it's good to see that you haven't changed much Natasha," Gildarts said from the bar. Natasha turned her head so fast you would be forgiven if you thought that she had been punched looked at Gildarts before lighting her hand on fire and rushing the man while shouting "I'm gonna kick your ass!" Gildarts didn't even stop drinking his beer but simply raised his left arm and hit Natasha in the head sending her to the floor. "Damn you Gildarts! Fight!..me" Natasha stopped shouting halfway through when she noticed Gildarts's left arm was metal.
"What the hell happened to you?" Gray asked as he walked over. "This is the reason I failed my mission" Gildarts explained. This shocked everyone in the guild since Gildarts had said he would talk about what happened to his arm when Team Natasha returned. "You failed a job!?" Natasha shouted in disbelief. "I did and I would like to talk to you about something important Natasha," Gildarts said seriously. "Come to my office I would also like to know what happened," Makarov said. "Hey! Why the hell does Pinkie get to know what happened to you!?" Gray shouted. "Gray it is up to Gildarts who he wishes to explain himself to, you must accept that, and I believe that Gildarts will eventually tell everyone," Makarov said.
After Gray's outburst and subsequent talking too, Makarov, Gildarts, and Natasha went into Makarov's office. "So, what happened Gildarts?" Makarov inquired seriously. "I failed my quest as you could probably have guessed even if I hadn't said it before, but that doesn't exactly explain what happened to me. I failed my quest because I was attacked." Gildarts then looks at Natasha directly and says "I was attacked by a black dragon."
Natasha and Makarov both had faces of disbelief. "I know what you're thinking Natasha and don't do it. This dragon was nothing like how you described Igneel" Gildarts explained. "I won't go looking for this dragon but I want to know why did it attack you?" Natasha asked. "As far as I know it didn't have a reason. I was passing through an open field on my way to the mission point when it suddenly attacked me. As you can see I didn't win, I don't even think I hurt the damn thing. I passed out from blood loss and later woke up in a nice couple's home they patched me up and made me this metal arm. This thing was ruthless I am lucky to be alive" Gildarts finished.
Gildarts then turned to Makarov and Makarov said "I see. Well at least you are alive and we can be happy with that." Gildarts nodded his head and said, let's, "I'll be sticking around here for the next couple of days before heading out again." He then looked back at Natasha who was looking at Gildarts solemnly and Gildarts said "I know, but trust me this is nothing like the dragon you described." Gildarts then left the room leaving a saddened Natasha. Natasha eventually left the room as well and saw that Lucy was picking another job to do and to tag along followed by Erza and a questioning Gray.
Makarov sat at his desk thinking for a short while after Natasha and Gildarts departure. "A dragon other than the one who raised Natasha. I wonder if the council knew about this? I don't want to imagine what they would think if they did. I'll keep quiet about this at least for the time being."
Several hours later…
Natasha had returned to the guild and was lazing around, Gray was trying to fight Natasha but was having no luck, Erza was sitting at the bar eating her beloved strawberry cheesecake, Happy was eating his fish, and Lucy was sitting at a table bored. Lucy wanting to do something to get over her boredom went and took a simple 500 Jewel job when Happy came over with Natasha. "Hey, a job let's go, Lucy!" Happy shouted. This alerted Gray and Erza that they were leaving for a job and that's exactly what they did.
Gildarts watched from the bar as Team Natasha left for their quest and one might think that he was wearing a face of deep thought or even one of sadness but his thoughts did not run deep in fact the only thought that was running through Gildarts's mind was "I hope I get to fight that kid again."
A few hours later…
Night had recently fallen and Gildarts had just left his house to go to the edge of Magnolia where he waited an hour for Salamander in hopes of getting his rematch but when the hour passed and Salamander didn't show he walked back to his house, however, if he had decided to walk back to the guild first he may have been there to stop what happened.
The next day…
Team Natasha was walking back to the guild after having completed their job. "Man that job was really easy," Natasha said enthusiastically. Natasha then looked towards the forest near the entrance of Magnolia and thought "Why was Gildarts out here?" "You guys should just be happy I decided to tag along" Gray responded. Natasha glared at him and said "You should just shut your mouth, Ice Princess. I'm still ticked off at you for taking my prey away from me on the island. So shut your mouth and put your clothes back on" Everyone stared at Natasha for a second before Gray went to find his clothes and Lucy broke the silence "Annnyway. I took this job hoping to do it solo, so why did you guys decide to come?"
Natasha finally stopped glaring at Gray and said "Are you stupid? We're Fairy Tail's strongest team and we've got to stick together." "Aye!" "Don't you forget it" "hum" Happy, Gray, and Erza agreed. After settling that the group continues to make their way towards the guildhall. "Why is everybody staring at us and whispering?" Gray asked. "It feels like they're looking at us with pity," Erza said. It was then that they could all see that the guildhall had giant iron beams coming from it. They quickly ran to the front of the guild and just stared in utter disbelief. "Who?... Who did this to our guild?" Natasha said in barely contained rage. "It was Phantom," Mira said from behind the group. Natasha turned to look at Mira and everyone could see the barely contained rage in her eyes and she said "You mean Phantom did this?
Mira then led team Natasha down into the basement of the guild which was where the temporary hall was set up. Everyone was talking about how this was uncalled for and wrong this was. The group made their way over to Makarov who was drunk and not caring about the destroyed guildhall. "Why in the hell are you all just sitting on your asses complaining!? We should go and get revenge!" Natasha angrily shouted at Makarov. "Calm down Natasha..hic..They just showed us how cowardly they really are. They struck when no one was here." Makarov responded. Gildarts then walked up to the group and the still angry Natasha said: "Come on old man you think we should get back at them right?" "No Natasha I don't" Gildarts responded.
Natasha looked at Gildarts with disbelief and was about to say something only for Gildarts to speak up "I will say this though I can't help but feel a little guilty since if I had decided to head back this way before I went home I might have been able to stop it." Natasha cooled down a bit more after hearing this and asked "What are you talking about? You left the guild at the same time as the rest of us, so why would you have come back this way? Unless you mean after you went to the edge of town?"
Gildarts just looked at Natasha with a blank face and answered "Yes, If I had decided to walk back this way after I went to the edge of town then I might have been able to stop this from happening." Gildarts on the inside however was freaking out "Shit! I completely forgot about how strong Natasha's senses are. Dammit, now I need an excuse but what should it be. Oh, I know." However, Natasha didn't get to ask why Gildarts was at the edge of Town because Makarov spoke up "That's enough Natasha Gildarts has his own life and can do what he wishes just calm down. A building can be repaired, we should just be thankful that no one was hurt. However, as a precaution, no one is to travel at night alone for a short while."
Later that night…
Team Natasha all had decided to stay at Lucy's house against her complaints. Everyone else had done the same and hunkered down in their homes or safe places. Everyone except for four people. Gildarts was out at the edge of town again waiting in hopes that Salamander would show himself, since he was the strongest he was allowed to be out alone even late into the night. However, at the tree that marks the center of Magnolia three people were being watched from the shadows.
Levy, Jet, and Droy, Team Shadow Gear, were still out walking the streets of Magnolia when they were suddenly attacked from the shadows…
The next morning…
Many townspeople and guild members had gathered around the tree and could easily see the horrifying sight before them. Team Natasha was pushing through the crowd and when they saw what had been down all were speechless. Levy, Jet, and Droy, were hanging on the tree by iron bars around their arms, dried blood and wounds covered their bodies, and on Levy's stomach was the Phantom Lord guild's emblem forcefully applied. Almost everyone on team Natasha could only look in utter shock, but Natasha had a look of complete anger and when her magic power started to rise people were worried and what they heard her say made many flee in terror. "I'll reduce them to ashes. Every last one of them."
Makarov walked through the now thinner crowd, looked at Natasha with a small amount of worry for a second. Then he looked at his children being strung up and beaten, and he said "I don't care if you destroy our headquarters but I will not let harm come to my children without taking revenge! We have no choice but to go to war!"
Later in Oak Town…
Phantom Lord's largest branch sat high above Oak Town and all the members inside were making fun of Fairy Tail and what Blacksteel Gajeel, the Iron Dragon Slayer, had done to Levy, Jet, and Droy. When a group was trying to leave the guild the front door suddenly exploded off its hinges and the first thing the Phantom Lord members saw was a very pissed off Natasha and Makarov shouting "Fairy Tail has come calling!"
The Phantom Lord members quickly got over their initial shock and gave a war cry before rushing towards Fairy Tail. Natasha was the one in front and her eyes had a fire behind them, and as she was about to be attacked she gave a wicked smile and unleashed her attack knocking out and scorching at least two dozen members of Phantom. After Natasha took out the first group both the entirety of Fairy Tail and Phantom's guild began to clash. However, the entire battlefield rumbled as Master Makarov made use of his giant magic and disabled a large group of Phantom's wizards. "You dared believe that human laws could protect you from my rage!" Makarov shouted.
Suddenly Erza changed into her Flame Empress armor and shouted "Tell me! Where can I found Gajeel and the Element Four!?"
At the same time…
Lucy was walking around Magnolia when it started to rain in bright sunlight and she was suddenly approached by a girl with long azure blue hair, tightly curled at the base, wearing a sapphire blue coat, a cream-colored fur-trimmed navy blue shawl, as well as a matching Russian Cossack hat. "Juvia is the rain woman and it follows wherever she goes," The woman said as she walked past Lucy. Before Lucy could say anything else she heard " . .No." As a figure rose from out of the ground. The figure was a man with a tiny, pointy, mustache and green hair pointing upwards. His right eye was hidden by a monocle and attached to a slim chain.
"I bid you Bonjour, Mademoiselle. Juvia, Ma petite Amie (My little friend), you mustn't shy away from the task at hand." The strange man said to Juvia. "No, Monsieur Sol." Mon Cheri (My dear) Juvia, my monocle tells me that this belle dame (Beautiful lady) is our sought-after cible (Target)" Sol explains to Juvia. "Ah, pardonnez-moi. I have not told you my name. I am Sol of the Element Four. Also known as "Sol of the Earth." But you may call me "Monsieur Sol." "You're with Phantom!" Lucy shouts in anger. "Correct. We've been sent here to collect you and return to the guild at once." Sol explains. Sol then motions to Juvia and says "Ma belle compagne (My beautiful companion) is a rain woman also part of the Element Four. She is known as "Juvia of the Great Sea."
Lucy went to grab her keys in hopes of at least defending herself and hopefully take revenge for Levy, Jet, and Droy, but before she could do anything she was caught in a sphere of water, and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't break free. "Don't waste your energy. My Water Lock spell cannot be broken." Juvia explains as Lucy passes out from lack of oxygen.
At Phantom Lord…
The battle between Fairy Tail and Phantom was raging on and it was becoming so bad that the people in the city below could hear explosions and smoke rising from the guildhall. A group of wizards was attacking Laki and Natasha quickly devoured the fire magic causing the group to fear. Natasha had a dark look on her face and said "I'm going to reduce you to ashes. Hi Ryū Todoroku!" (Fire Dragon Roar) The group was quickly set ablaze and started to scream in agony as they began to burn.
The rest of the Fairy Tail guild was sending Phantom's mages flying as well. All of a sudden Gajeel dropped from his perch on the raptors and started to attack the Fairy Tail wizards. Gray seeing this ran over to help and sent ice lances towards Gajeel making him jump out of the way. "Geehe. So Fairy Tail's stripper wants to try and fight a dragon huh?" Gray was about to answer only for a flaming body to fly in front of him and Natasha to stand in his way. "What the hell Natasha! Get out of my way!" Gray shouted. Natasha looked at Gray with a side-eye and Gray took a step back unconsciously because he could see that Natasha was pissed off and his eyes widened when she threateningly said "You back off popsicle. I'm still pissed that you stole my prey from me on Galuna Island, so this one is mine."
Not waiting for the dumbfounded and shocked Gray to respond she charged at Gajeel with a flaming fist sending Gajeel flying into the bar and halting the fighting. Everyone from Phantom couldn't believe the Blacksteel Gajeel was sent flying and when they looked at Natasha they went from feeling shocked to fear, and the members of Fairy Tail couldn't believe what they were seeing either. Natasha was glaring at Gajeel with rage-filled eyes that looked on borderline insane and when she spoke a chill went down everyone's backs. "I'm the fire dragon slayer, and I'm going to turn you to ash for what you've done."
Gajeel was the only one not frozen in place so he jumped to his feet, charged Natasha, and shouted: "TetsuryuRyū Bō" (Iron Dragon's club) changing his arm into an iron beam that hit Natasha in the chest. Natasha skidded back while holding onto the club and said "You destroyed our guild hall and attacked my friends. I'll kill you for that!" she finished as she surrounded herself in fire and threw Gajeel into the rafters. Gajeel quickly pushed off one of the rafters back towards Natasha only for him to be punched in the face with a flaming fist sending him flying into the wall and then covered in debris. Everyone was in shock and varying states of fear, Phantom's wizards were looking at Natasha as if a monster had just launched Gajeel and Fairy Tail stared at Natasha in complete disbelief because they had never heard the happy and carefree dragon slayer say something like that or ever seen the look on her face.
Gajeel rose from the pile of debris and smugly said "Nice try but I'm still standing." "Good. My prey should put up a fight" Natasha responded with an eary smile. Gajeel charged Natasha and sent her flying with an iron club kick causing massive damage to the guildhall's floor and burying Natasha under debris. "What's the matter can't take a hit?" Gajeel asked mockingly. Natasha burst into flames vaporizing the debris and with an evil smile said "If that's all you've got you'll soon be dead." "You seriously think you can beat me you pyro?" Gajeel asked mockingly. "I will burn you" Natasha replied.
Gajeel once again sent a club fist at Natasha and it was again caught only this time Natasha put a lot more firepower into her hand which caused the clubbed fist to be malleable. So Natasha started to squeeze the hand tighter causing Gajeel to bring his fist back and look at his now ungloved hand and laugh "That actually stung a little." "I told you my prey should give me a fight, so that was my warm-up" Natasha replied. Natasha and Gajeel then started to clash with neither side having a distinct advantage when suddenly the whole guildhall began to shake stopping the two slayers. As quickly as the shaking started it stopped and something came falling from the top floor.
Makarov's body landed in the middle of the battlefield. He was extremely pale and was barely breathing. Erza, Gray, Happy, Elfman, and Gildarts quickly ran over to him and picked him up, It was now that Phantom decided to attack when Fairy Tail's morale was low. "This is bad. The guild members are getting destroyed out there. This is a hard hit to their morale" Gildarts said to the group. "I agree," Erza said. "Everybody we must retreat! Get back to the guild! We have to go we don't stand a chance against Jose. If he comes down here only Gildarts could put up a fight but we would be liabilities so we must retreat!" The members then started to retreat with Gray needing to be begged by Erza to do so, and as the other members retreated Natasha, still filled with rage, jumped away from Gajeel and started to cover her retreating guildmates.
As Natasha was covering her guild retreat she overheard Gajeel and a large blindfolded man talking about the captured Lucy and this only sent her into more of a frenzy. "Gajeel!" Natasha roared as he and the blindfolded man disappeared. After seeing this Natasha grabbed a Phantom wizard and sneered out "Show me where your main base is." The man terrified agreed and only begged to not be burned. As Natasha dragged the man into the mountains and interrogated him on Lucy's whereabouts she would have to occasionally toast him a bit to get what she wanted.
After Natasha got what she needed from the man she continued deeper into the mountains to find a castle and she quickly made her way to the tallest tower and caught a falling Lucy. Natasha was about to go and attack the guild but Lucy somehow managed to persuade the still angry female slayer that they should return to the guild. On the way back to the guild Natasha explained to Lucy what had happened during the attack on Phantom. Lucy could tell that Natasha was extremely angry and could also tell that she was acting a bit different than she was used to but with everything that had happened, she didn't think anything of it.
At the same time…
The main force of Fairy Tail had returned to Magnolia and the guildhall. Alazak, a young man of average height with short black hair that covers the right part of his face. black eyes with the right one always obscured by his hair, and Bisca, a young woman with long, straight green hair, with brownish-purple eyes, large breasts, and wearing red lipstick, had been given the task of bringing the injured Makarov to the guild's healer Porlyusica. Everyone else was at the guildhall dealing with the injured. "Good, it looks like no one other than Master was hurt too badly," Gildarts says. "Yeah, that's great and all but with Master out of commission what do we do now?" Elfman asked. "We have to wait for the Master to recover, but in the meantime, we should prepare in case they decide to come attack" Gildarts responds. "I know this isn't exactly a pressing matter but are we just going to ignore what was up with Natasha?" Gray asked. "You have a good point, Gray. I've never seen her like that before, and since she only really ever goes on missions with Happy I guess we should ask him when he gets back" Gildarts said.
"Why do you have to wait for me to get back? I'm right here" Happy says from one of the tables. "Happy has Natasha ever become like that on any of her past missions?" Gray asked. "Aye. A couple of times but this was the worst I've ever seen" Happy explains. "I also don't know if it's ever happened on the few missions she goes on without me" Happy said while thinking. "We can worry about Natasha's behavior later. Right now I would rather like to know where exactly she and Lucy are?" Erza says. "Wait a second. Natasha isn't here but Happy is, so where in the hell could she have gone!?" Gildarts asked no one in particular. Just as someone Erza was about to say something the cellar door opened and they all heard an angry Natasha say "If you want to know. I overheard that bastard Gajeel and some blindfolded guy say they captured Lucy so I went and got her. Good enough answer?"
Natasha finished her sentence with a tone that said she wasn't asking. Everyone could tell that she was still angry but had cooled off considerably. "Lucy, you were kidnapped by Phantom? Are you alright?" Erza asked concerned. "Yeah, I'm fine but there is something I need to tell all of you" Lucy responded. Lucy then explained that she ran away from home and that her father had hired Phantom to bring her back to him. Everyone was very sympathetic towards her and they were comforting her when Gray turned to Natasha and was about to ask about her recent behavior but the ground started shaking and when everyone ran outside the guild they saw the moving spider-like Phantom Lord guildhall approaching from the ocean.
So I sincerely hope you all enjoyed this chapter as you can probably tell Natasha's a bit different than canon Natsu and I hope you all will enjoy seeing her insane side for the next couple of chapters. Also yes this is the first arc of Fairy Tail where I change quite a bit I know some people are happy and so am I. Now I have good and bad news for everyone. I always start with bad so we can end on a high note. So the bad news is my inconsistency will persist for quite a while I sincerely apologize for this but I can't help it I'm sorry. Now the good news. The good news is that I have something being worked on in the pipeline, and as far as I know, it's a completely original idea (probably not but since I've never seen anything like it I'll stick with that) It will be written and uploaded eventually, maybe before Elemental King's next update or ar after a few more for this one I'm not sure.
