"Where the hell did ya get that?" Yaz asked agog.
Rose shifted the weight of the pickaxe in her hand as she stared between it and the wooden door before them contemplatively. She'd stored it in her bigger on the inside pockets long ago for situations just like this.
"Sonic doesn't do wood." Was all the explanation she gave before she brought the axe down swinging on the wooden construction confining them to this poxy room.
Yaz gave a startled shriek as the duo was showered in splinters of wood. She stared at Rose in alarm. But the blonde time traveller didn't seem to notice as she swung at the door again and again. By the looks of it, this wasn't the first time Rose had had to use a pickaxe to get herself out of a pickle.
Rose made frighteningly quick work of the door before calmly slipping the pickaxe back into pockets - that should not have been able to fit such a thing - as if nothing had occurred.
Rose dusted her hands off before looking up expectantly only to find Yaz already gawking at her.
"What?" She asked, perplexed.
"Nothing. Just has anyone ever told you you're a bit mad?"
Rose shrugged unrepentantly, "Got the job done didn't it?" Before she climbed through the hole she'd created.
"I guess." But Yaz was still unconvinced as she stared after her.
-x-
"This wall is pretty flimsy; it shouldn't take much to knock it through to get to the other side." The Doctor informed them easily, unperturbed by the alien goop steadily rising around their ankles.
Rose stepped up beside her to appraise the wall in question too, before giving a mental agreement to her statement through their telepathic marital bond.
"Let me guess the sonic has a laser cutting setting of some kind to deal with it?" Yaz asked, trying not to let her panic sound quite so evident as she spoke.
"What would I need the sonic for?"
Yaz turned around just then to stare at her through the dim light. The Doctor's brows were furrowed in confusion at Yaz, as she pulled a sledgehammer out from the depth of her coat pockets. Yaz just gaped back at her, the sludge covering her boots forgotten as the Doctor began tearing down the aforementioned flimsy wall with the sledgehammer.
What was it with those two and property damage? And why the hell did they just carry those things around with them? Yaz thought to herself bewildered.
Rose was stood beside her wife casually offering tips as she watched her demolish the wall before them, uncaring of the dust settling over her.
It was a little frightening to watch these seemingly unassuming women wield such power. She knew they were aliens (or just not quite human in Rose's case) and both were apparently immortal. But the Doctor had barely an inch over her in height and Rose was practically the same height as she was. You wouldn't think them capable of tearing down a structure in a matter of minutes and yet... And to do so, in such a blasé manner sent a frisson of fear trickling down Yaz's spine that she didn't often associate with the blonde duo.
It was a good job they'd decided to work towards saving the human race rather than against it, Yaz mused to herself.
A/N: Nobody asked for this but I had to write it immediately after I had enough time to sort of process that episode so it's a little short and chaotic but all I can think about right now is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah and feral spacewives, so enjoy I guess. Don't forget to let me know your thoughts in the comments or don't, I won't be offended I don't know what's going on either my brain is still spinning 😂
