Chapter 4.- Jealousy.
Welcome once again to the Future Imperfect.
As you may have already realized, the relationships between the heroes are on very bad terms, even the marriages, and this story won't be the exception, because today we focus on the demanding and stressful life of the Agreste family, formed by Adrien, Kagami and young Tomoko, focusing on her family dynamics and how demanding Kagami is when it comes to handling her husband and her daughter's lives.
As always, expect foul language, violence, mental fractures, and most of all, toxic relationships.
(TOMOKO AGRESTE)
"The day after the arrest, trial and imprisonment of Luka Couffaine, things calmed down quite a bit in the city of Paris, or at least in most of the city, since the spirits in my father's mansion had gotten out of control...
And yes, as Lemy already said, all of us can break the fourth wall, so I will seize the fact that this chapter is about me to give some exposition about me and my family.
Let's start by talking about my mother...
It is no surprise to anyone that my mother has not been fine for some time, and it was not unexpected because the relationship with my father has suffered many ups and downs, more downs than ups, where neither side was saved from guilt, because Adrien Agreste is a quite distracted man who, although he loves and respects both me and my mother, often puts us aside for certain issues; while my mother is determined to regain the family honor, which, according to herself, was lost during the Great Massacre of Superheroes, where she was not only almost killed by Ignobilia, but had no relevance whatsoever, not even when we all fled to the inhospitable land of Svartalfheim, they owe that last to the Loud, which only made my mother feel worse.
The downside of the matter is that the one who ends up paying for both my father's slight abandonment, as well as my mother's restoration of our family honor, is me.
Practically since Twilight Sparkle had blocked out my memories of Ignobilia when I was 11 years old, mother made me train fencing, martial arts, archery, study 5 languages other than my native French, learn about business, handling of sharp weapons and cooking, as well as training myself in survival and etiquette.
Over time, the happy, carefree, restless girl that I was became the cold, devious, analytical teenager that I am now.
However, despite wanting to control every aspect of my life, mother forgot one that even she could not have controlled in any way: youthful infatuation.
While it was true that we could hardly see each other due to the crowded schedule that was imposed on me, the few interactions that the New Avengers had with me as children ended in the carefree, rocker and rambunctious son of Luka Couffaine and Marinette Dupain-Cheng becoming a focus of attention for me, since unconsciously I saw in him a respite from my overwhelming life, which at first did not seem correct or adequate, since I was a young lady of high society and Micah was a juvenile delinquent no different from the teens he hung out with, like Lemuel Loud, Serenity Pines, Stanley Osborn and Felicity Parker.
But no matter how much I denied it, my heart held the rocker deeply and no one else, which eventually made me open up more with those who also became my friends, and even made me interact and start liking other people like the daughter of the previous Sorcerer Supreme and great-niece of Dormammu, Amanda Strange, the princess of Mewnisgard and the Underworld, Tamara Butterfly, the daughter of the former founding members of the Howling Commandos, Valerie Morgan, the daughter of the most well-known Paris reporter and whoever one of the most emblematic DJs until the Great Massacre of Superheroes, Nila Lahiffe and the Loud siblings of the new generation, with the exception of Leia, Lupa and Lyra, since the former has a quite marked rivalry with Felicity; the second is a well of toxicity that differs little from a criminal; and the third because I made Lemy realize that we support him as much or more than his siblings, and Lyra didn't like that.
However, my way of relating socially is still clumsy and awkward, because after so much confinement, I don't really know how to interact with people my age.
And also, there were two other repercussions in my life.
The first was that Micah and Felicity inspired me to become a hero, and thanks to the vibranium katana my mother inherited me, as well as my martial arts training, I decided to take the name Ronin. Now, after several months of nightly escapades to capture criminals, I am officially an Avenger... well, actually I am a recruit, but technically my hero name is already included in the Avengers member list.
As for the other repercussion, this was that I had never opposed or even questioned my mother's choices about my life, until the moment I accepted my feelings for Micah as a good thing.
Obviously, such a change did not sit well with my mother, however, Dad saw it with very good eyes and even with pride, because at my age, he had not yet had the guts to contradict my grandfather Gabriel, who in many aspects, had acted very much like my mother, during my father's adolescence and childhood.
And as expected, this rebellion caused friction in the already shaky marriage of my parents, and the fact that the instigator of such rebellion was Marinette's son only made my mother feel more anger, possibly as much as Luka Couffaine when he discovered that Micah had a certain fascination for me, since like him, mother most likely feels that the Couffaines are trying to take her family from her.
However, all of that no longer matters to me in the least, since Micah is now mine.
So, I'll end this little introduction to myself by saying that right now, I must be the luckiest girl in the world... "
At the Beholder space station, there was an atmosphere of calm, especially for Tomoko Agreste, who enjoyed a nap comfortably reclining next to Micah, with her arms around the rocker's torso, the rocker's arm around her keeping her close to him and her head resting on his shoulder, much to E.D.I.T.H.'s chagrin and disapproval, as she had clearly ordered them to rest in different beds so as not to hinder their healing.
After about eight hours of rest, Micah opened his eyes and could not help but feel that his pulse was racing and that nothing in the world could be more perfect at that moment, and he was amused to see that Tomoko, among her already well-known perfection, she had drooled over his shoulder a bit while they slept.
Chuckling at the warm fluid on his shoulder, Micah pulled his StarkPhone out of his pocket and noticed that it had taken some damage during the confrontation with his father, but he ignored it, activated it, and took a selfie of both of them, making sure to capture his girlfriend's face. To his misfortune, the slight flash of the photograph and the sound of the shutter were enough to wake Tomoko up, who noticed her boyfriend's actions, causing her to yelp and try to snatch the phone from Micah's grasp to destroy it or delete the picture.
"Micah!" Tomoko snapped.
"Ah, ah, ah, E.D.I.T.H., please save a copy of that photo in the station's database." Micah said before Tomoko managed to steal the StarkPhone from him.
"Hey, what did I tell you about getting it on in front of us?" Serenity snapped as she put on her tennis shoes.
"Don't you have a lot of siblings to bother?" Tomoko snapped as Micah retrieved the phone from her.
"Dusk and Centurion are too busy with their own studies of magic, and Gwen and Maggie have mothers similar to yours, Tomoko."
"Is there no one we know who has normal or at least decent parents?" Lemy sighed rhetorically.
"Your question is rhetorical but actually we do know people like that, remember Nity's cousins, and technically Valerie Morgan as well." Said Felicity.
"Besides, your parents are decent too, Lemy, you can't complain." Stanley snapped.
"Of course, Stan, because fucking between siblings and having children as a result of said sin is the most normal thing in the world..."
"Well done, Stan, now he's gonna complain nonstop about the Sin Kids thing..." Serenity said as she glared at Stan.
"I'm just saying that at least Lincoln and Luna love him and care for him, no matter how much Lemy denies it, and they don't get drunk all day and making the other cry like my idiot of a father, or force him to learn things like Tomoko's mom, or fight each other like Felicity's parents."
"Gee, thanks for the compliments, Stanley..." Tomoko muttered.
"At least they don't see you as a freak, Stan." Lemy snapped.
"You really don't know anything, Lemy."
"You don't know anything, Stanley, shut up." Serenity intervened.
"Nity and Stan remind me so much of my parents, with the difference that both are idiots and not just one of 'em." Said Felicity.
"Go somewhere else to argue, you are not gonna do it at my station." Said E.D.I.T.H. as she projected into the room alongside six solid-light screens.
"It seems that everything is in order and they have completely healed... Except for the idiotic lovebirds, who ignored me and slept together, making the serum work incorrectly, now they will have a scar."
"I prefer the term 'war mark.'" Tomoko said proudly.
- And I prefer the term 'utter proof of your stupidity and thick-headedness.' Now, shoo, go home."
Tomoko glared at E.D.I.T.H. and she sighed, then got off the bed and turned to look at Micah, who smiled warmly at her.
"Let's go, Micah." Tomoko said.
Micah only managed to nod as he stood up, putting his shirt and jacket back on, while E.D.I.T.H. opened five portals with a snap of her fingers.
"We'll see you later, and I hope it's not because you were beaten up again." Said the AI. "And yeah, I know that I am a sweetheart, now go."
The New Avengers simply rolled their eyes and left the Beholder through the portals, then the portals closed and each was left in a secluded spot in their hometowns.
Thus, under the Bridge of the Arts, which had now been replaced by a solid-light replica of the original after its destruction during the combat between the Cosmic Ladybug and Ignobilia, the bluish-black-haired teens appeared, still smiling and holding each other's hand.
Once they realized that they hadn't been seen, because even though the Superhero Identity Secrecy Law existed, it was still bad for someone to see them leave a portal, but the true fear of both teens lay in the fact that knowing that Micah was nothing less than a delinquent and a drug addict in the eyes of Kagami Agreste, Tomoko's mother, if she found out that her daughter was now Micah's girlfriend from the rumors of the people, she could take it very badly. Once the coast was clear, they both had one last kiss and climbed the bridge from different sides, with Micah hurrying to his maternal grandparents' house, and with Tomoko heading to her family's mansion, but not before stop in front of the statue of Spider-Man facing Ignobilia in the middle of the bridge, which she could remember had been put there by Mayor Bourgeois some years ago, much despite Peter Parker's own denials about it, as the battle with Ignobilia was a very bad memory for him.
"I don't remember much of her, remember that my memory of her was erased to avoid trauma. I just know that she was a monster who took the lives of many of our relatives only to hurt our parents for getting in her way." Tomoko said while she saw the figure of Ignobilia. "And what was even worse is that there were people who followed her and helped her. But what really disgusts me about her is that all the trauma you put Loan through was because of something that was solely your fault..."
Tomoko spat on the floor in disgust, then made her way to her home.
After a few minutes, Tomoko stood in front of the entrance to the mansion, meeting her kind personal bodyguard, a man with short natural blue hair in a military-like hairstyle, who was wearing a black suit specially designed by Peter Parker, Rarity Belle, Lenore and Elisabeth Loud, and Marinette Couffaine, combining style, technology and mobility to ensure maximum protection for both the bodyguard and the Agreste heiress.
"Good morning, Mr. Sentry." Tomoko said politely as she bowed slightly.
"You know you can call me Flash, Miss Agreste." The bodyguard answered.
"And you know well why we do not talk to each other so informally, sir, my mother would not approve of it in the least."
"True, well, come in, miss, her mother is waiting for you in the living room."
As she listened to her bodyguard, she couldn't help but let out a huge sigh of exasperation, as surely a sermon of no less than 1 hour awaited her for putting the family honor at risk for a stupid and unnecessary adventure like wanting to be an Avenger.
Faced with the girl's actions, Flash Sentry did something unusual for both of them, putting his hand on Tomoko's shoulder, drawing her attention and giving her a supportive smile, which to the surprise of the green-eyed woman, made her feel indeed a little better and smile back at her bodyguard, which surprised Flash pleasantly, for it was a smile that no longer looked awkward and forced, but honest and cheerful.
After two minutes, Tomoko and Flash reached the living room of the mansion, where Kagami was having a cup of wine and holding a StarkTablet that showed a couple of videos of Ronin attacking criminals during the night.
"Thank you Sentry, you're dismissed and take the rest of the day, Tomoko and I have a lot to talk about." Kagami said with a calm tone but so cold that it gave the bodyguard and the girl a chill.
"Yes, Madame Agreste, thank you." Flash said before giving a last smile of support to Tomoko.
The bodyguard turned on his heels and left the mansion, leaving Tomoko and Kagami alone, while the young woman took a seat in front of her mother, putting the backpack where she kept her suit and the sheath of her vibranium katana down on the ground.
"I didn't tell you to sit." Kagami said.
"You were going to do it, besides, I'm not a dog so you can order me on whether I can take a seat or not." Tomoko replied as she placed her backpack and katana next to the couch where she sat.
Kagami frowned and gave her daughter an annoyed look after that curt reply.
"Despite being in this situation for such actions, you keep behaving like a spoiled brat..." Kagami snapped.
"Your raising methods have been highly questionable, after all." Tomoko blurted out.
"As I thought, your father has been too lenient with you and Felicity Parker's gang of criminals has been a very bad influence on you."
"Or maybe your methods are so extreme that when I found a respite and people who did not see me as a tool but as a child, I discovered what is really worth it, something that you lost years ago."
"Friendship... What a stupid and childish answer."
"You know well how powerful friendship can be."
"Enough to be useless against Ignobilia and to get Fluttershy killed when she and her 'friends' tried to purify that monster." Kagami said before taking a sip of wine.
"At least they were able to try something against her, unlike you, mother, you were totally and completely useless."
At Tomoko's words, Kagami choked a bit on the wine and unconsciously tightened her grip on the cup, breaking it and getting several pieces of glass stuck in her hand, at which the fencer's kwami, a red dragon-like creature with a stump for right upper leg and another stump for tail, stepped out of his jacket and looked at his owner's hand with concern.
"Ma'am, are you...?" Longg tried to say.
Kagami simply cleared her throat and put a bloody finger over her kwami's mouth before glaring at her daughter, who continued to glare at her with an impassive and annoyed frown.
"You don't know anything, you insolent girl..." Kagami said.
"No, you don't know anything." Tomoko snapped as she stood up. "Everything you force me to do is not for my good as you tried to make me believe, you do all of that to be able to project my achievements and progress on you. But no more, from now on 'I' will be the only one who decides what to do with my life, as such I will only continue with the extracurricular classes that I choose and I will stop getting homeschooled. But don't worry, I am not going to abandon my studies, I enrolled myself in the Françoise Dupont College, there I will finish my high school studies and possibly pursue higher education at the Empire State University. Felicity has told me a ton of good stuff about it and if Hank Pym, Reed Richards, Mrs. Van Dyne, Mrs. Stark, Mr. Flynn, and Dr. Parker studied there, it must be an excellent school."
"I am your mother, Tomoko."
"I am altering the family dynamics, pray I don't alter it any further."
Kagami clenched her jaw and shot a near-murderous look at her daughter as she recognized the reference her daughter had made.
"Did you just quote Star Wars?" Kagami growled.
"Empire Strikes Back, and yes, I did, personally it is not to my liking but it bothers you, so I could get used to that saga." Tomoko snapped.
"Enough already."
"No, not until I get what I want, or was all that talk about being determined and firm with my choices just bullshit?"
Kagami wanted to answer something but she didn't know what or how, so she just sighed and took a handkerchief from her jacket to wipe her still bleeding hand and glared at Tomoko.
"I am your mother, Tomoko, you live in my house, you will follow my rules." Kagami said.
"Ok, first: This is my father's house so he is the only one who could direct my life as he pleases, but since he is nearly never around and has no intention of being similar to my maternal grandmother or my paternal grandfather, he will not do so. And second: If that is the case, it is a good thing the Beholder's room area is ready, because at this moment I declare my independence, if you will excuse me, I have a lot to pack. Tomoko said as she picked up her things and turned around to go to her room. "Do not bother to tell Mr. Flash or my dad, I will tell them myself."
"You're not leaving." Kagami waited as she got up.
"I already did!"
Kagami grunted and ran after her daughter, who already had enough advantage to enter her room, close the door and threw in the lock, going straight to her closet to get the bag she had packed a few days ago and the elongated briefcase where she used to keep her foil and her katana, which for the moment she carried in her hand, while her mother banged on the door and demanded her to open it.
Ignoring her mother, the girl quickly opened the briefcase and carefully placed her katana inside, next to her foil, then closed it again and walked to her desk, took one of the pens in her pencil-case and opened it, revealing it had a small key inside, then squatted down and inserted the key into a lock in the space below the desk and smiled when she opened the hatch where she kept her dimensional scissors, which had a dragon engraved on the blades.
The girl took the dimensional scissors and closed the hatch again before returning the key to its hiding place.
Meanwhile, Kagami got tired of trying to reason with her daughter, so she just grunted and said:
"Longg, bring the storm!"
Kagami was enveloped by a flash of light which changed her civilian clothes for her Ryuko suit, then she grabbed her sword and lunged at daughter's room door, destroying it and managing to enter, but to her misfortune, Tomoko had already crossed a dimensional portal to some other place on Earth, which was closed shortly before Ryuko could reach it.
When Ryuko fell to the ground, she grunted in annoyance and stood up, pulling out her dimensional scissors with one of the blades split in half, and used them to open a portal to Peter Parker's office in New York, which was empty as it was already night in the city, which made her groan in frustration.
After that, Ryuko opened another portal, this time to the office of Felicia Hardy-Parker, in which the carrier of the Deception was working out a little on the treadmill of her personal hidden gym.
Kagami undid her transformation and looked at Felicia, who was looking at her with a puzzled look and a hint of annoyance.
"If you've come to ask about Peter or Felicity, I don't know anything about them, they haven't even called me since the thing with Luka." Felicia snapped, still jogging on her treadmill.
"Ugh, I don't know why I'm asking you, you never know anything about them." Kagami said.
"At least I give my daughter some space to breathe."
"So much so that she is exactly like you when you were young, although at least she is not a lowly thief. Like mother, like daughter, so congratulations, you became Lydia Hardy."
"Look who's talking about becoming her mother, Tomoe Tsurugi..."
"At least my mother raised me to be a proper lady and she did not neglect me so that I wouldn't become a criminal."
"Shut up and get out of my office, Agreste."
"As you wish, Parker, I did not come because I like you but because I thought you would have a minimum of utility for my cause, but I see that I have overestimated your usefulness."
Felicia was going to reply to that comment, however, Kagami opened another portal and left before she could even blurt out the first word.
Meanwhile, in a rather spacious and luxurious New York apartment, Phineas Flynn was reviewing the solid-light models of a new engineering complex for his alma mater, the Empire State University, as part of the Maria Stark Foundation of Stark Industries charity works, which was under his charge, when a dimensional portal opened behind him, and before he could realize who it was, someone spun him around and grabbed him by the shirt to pick him up an inch, leaving it to Phineas to see that his attacker was Kagami.
"K-Kagami?" Phineas said very puzzled.
"Where's Parker?" Kagami asked.
"I-I don't know..."
"Ugh, another useless one..." Kagami growled before releasing Phineas and leaving through another portal.
Phineas pulled himself together and scratched the back of his neck at the strange event that had happened, then looked at his project and went back to work on it, commiserating his mentor for having to deal with her.
On the other hand, in the study of the Osborn Mansion, the current owner and CEO of OsCorp, Harry Osborn, woke up from his alcohol-induced sleep, dropping his half-full bottle of cognac, which was not broken thanks to the carpet, but it still spilled a bit, causing Harry to groan in annoyance and pick up the bottle to put the cap back on it and glare at whoever had woken him up by entering through a dimensional portal.
"I hope it's a life or death situation, or it will be a death one, Kagami." Harry said in annoyance.
"Forget it, you are obviously of no use." Kagami said before leaving through another portal.
Harry rolled his eyes and sighed, then got up and went to his room to sleep.
After that, Kagami reappeared in an alley of the same city, next to the Sanctum Sanctorum, rolling her eyes at the anti-intrusion spells of the Sorceress Supreme, as she ran to the entrance and banged on the door.
A few seconds later, the door opened, and a white-haired woman wearing a wizard's outfit, complete with a hat and cape, colored blue with white details, opened the door and looked at Kagami in bewilderment.
"Kagami?" Asked the woman.
"Where's Sparkle, Lulamoon? I must ask her something." Kagami snapped.
"Twilight is talking with Fury, Cinch and Gyrich about the mystical protections for the Defense Fleet that Peter is constructing. Only Luz, the kids, Rory and me are here."
"Ugh, why is everyone useless today?"
Kagami didn't say another word and opened another portal next to her, leaving Trixie somewhat perplexed, but the illusionist simply shrugged and closed the door of the Sanctorum.
Far away from there, Kagami reappeared in a secret bunker in the town of Royal Woods, Michigan, where a short woman with short, dull brown hair, wearing a worn-out labcoat, a green turtleneck sweater, dark brown pants and a pair of glasses was working on a solid-light model of a new version of her Iron Heart armor.
"If you are looking for Peter, I am afraid you have wasted your time, Kagami, he is currently at the Beholder speaking with Medusa and Jean Summers about the Academy they seek to inaugurate." Said the scientist without taking her eyes off her model.
"Good, at least one of you did help." Kagami said.
"Too bad you do not know the Beholder and that your dimensional scissors have not been modified with the Tesseract, otherwise you could get there."
"No, but thanks for not changing your passwords in the last 20 years, Elisabeth." Kagami said as she checked an image of the Beholder's control room on Lisa's computer.
"E.D.I.T.H., remind me to link all my equipment to my DNA and neural pattern so that no one that I do not authorize, can use them."
"I'm already working on it." The AI snapped as she projected next to Kagami. "As for you, Agreste, I hope you remember Couffaine and what grandpa does to those who seek trouble, especially with people he cares about."
"It is Tomoko who is looking for trouble and you should know it." Kagami snapped as she entered another portal.
"She's almost as unbearable as Tomoe was..." Lisa blurted out.
"I agree, Dr. Loud." Said E.D.I.T.H.
"You can call me Lisa."
"I know, pal, but I wanted to be a little more formal. Grandpa's request."
While E.D.I.T.H. dematerialized and Lisa continued working on her new armor, Kagami opened a portal to the Beholder's control room, where E.D.I.T.H. was waiting for her, reviewing various data on a solid-light tablet.
"You're too slow." Said E.D.I.T.H. without taking her eyes off the tablet.
"Take me to Parker now..." Kagami demanded.
"Ask for it nicely and I will."
"Now..."
"That's not nice."
"Shut up and do what I ordered."
"I am not your maid nor your employee, and if I was, I would certainly resign and sue you."
"No, you are just a self-centered and conceited piece of holographic junk."
"And you are a psychopath who's one evil organization away from becoming Tomoe Tsurugi."
"Shut up. And take me. To Parker."
E.D.I.T.H. sighed and snapped her fingers, causing a red line to appear on the floor.
"Follow the line, I have things to do." Said the AI before disappearing.
Kagami grunted but followed the red line until she reached a door, which was closed.
Quickly, the woman pulled her Avenger ID out of her pocket and passed it in front of the scanner next to the door, but it only emitted a disapproving beep and turned red.
"Access denied." Said an automatic voice that came out of the scanner.
"What do you mean with 'Access denied'?! I'm a Champion-class Avenger!" Kagami snapped.
"Legend-class identification is required to access Level-5 meetings."
"E.D.I.T.H., open the damn door!"
"Sorry, I can't contradict grandpa's orders, safety protocols, y'know." Said E.D.I.T.H. over the loudspeakers. "Plus, I don't like you."
"I have to talk to Parker now! Open it now! I don't care about your programming!"
At that moment, the door opened, but before Kagami could enter, three people came out of the meeting room and looked at Kagami in surprise, these being the Queen of Attilan, Medusalith Amaquelin-Boltagon; the Headmistress of the Jean Grey School for Young Mutants, Jean Grey-Summers; and the leader of the Avengers and Kagami's current target, Peter Parker.
"Madame Tsurugi, it's an unexpected surprise of her to find you here." Medusa let out when she noticed Kagami.
"Queen Boltagon, Headmistress Summers, I wish I could have time to speak but it is urgent that I speak with Parker." Kagami said as she took Peter by the arm.
"Yeah, well, it'll have to wait, I must speak with Lisa and Phineas about the Avengers Academy complex that Medusa, Jean, Fury, Gyrich, Cinch and I are planning." Peter waited as he released himself from Kagami's grip.
"Don't try my patience, Parker, this is all your fault."
"Oh no, my dear esteemed supplier of electronic components, this is your fault. If you were a better mother, Tomoko wouldn't have had to turn to a third party for advice."
"And if you were a better father, you would properly educate that del..."
Before Kagami could finish speaking, Peter webbed her mouth shut and stared at her with a great deal of restraint.
"Ok, first of all, if you express like that about my daughter again, I'll kill you. Last and only warning." Peter warned as he looked at Kagami. "And second, Tomoko deserves a break from everything you force her to do, so do me a favor and go home, calm down and please stop being so hard on your daughter, she's not a robot, she's human, let her have some freedom."
Kagami grunted and pulled a small razor from her pocket, alerting Jean and Medusa a bit, but Peter was impassive as Kagami had drawn the weapon only to cut the webbing on her mouth, then said:
"This will not stay like this... I hope you are completely sure of your decision, because as long as Tomoko does not obey me, Tsurugi Electronics will cease all business with Stark Industries and OsCorp."
"Very mature of you, Kagami, really mature." Peter snapped.
Kagami didn't respond in any way, she simply took out her dimensional scissors again and she went back home, to be more precise to her study, pulling out her StarkPhone to make the corresponding calls to end her business relationships with Stark Industries and OsCorp indefinitely.
Meanwhile, on the Beholder, Peter grunted in frustration and pinched the bridge of his nose as Jean tapped his shoulder.
"Peter, are you okay?" Asked Jean.
"Yes... Just very annoyed, now I have to find a new electronic component supplier for Stark Industries and OsCorp, or Pepper will fire me and Harry will kill me... Or possibly Pepper will kill me and then fire me..."
"I'm already talking to both, Grandpa, don't worry. Pepper and Harry understand, although they're not exactly happy, they agree with you that it is the best thing for the girl." Said E.D.I.T.H. while she projected herself next to Peter. "That and Phineas has an idea that can benefit everyone and make Tsurugi obsolete."
"Excellent, one less problem. Finally, something goes not so bad."
"Well, I think we should leave you alone." Said Medusa.
"As rude as it sounds, I'd really appreciate it."
"We get it, kid, don't worry." Jean said.
Back at the Agreste Mansion, Kagami received two messages from the CEO of Stark Industries and the owner of OsCorp, in which she could read that both were aware of the situation and reproached her for acting with such immaturity in the face of the rebellion of her daughter.
"Ironic coming from an alcoholic and a woman who cut her wrists more than three times." Kagami blurted out.
After that, Kagami put her StarkPhone away and looked at the clock on his desk, noticing that it was already 12 pm.
"So much time wasted." Kagami said with annoyance.
While Kagami went to her desk to sign the necessary documents to end her business relationships with Stark Industries and OsCorp officially and indefinitely, at Marinette Dupain-Cheng's house, to be more precise in the room that used to belong to the designer in her teenage years, Micah found himself practicing on his guitar while Tomoko went through her bag for the third time to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything essential at home.
"Well, I do have everything in order." Tomoko nodded.
"I would be surprised if it wasn't like that, sweetie." Micah chuckled as he continued strumming his guitar.
"I know, thank you for accepting me here."
"Technically you'll be in the guest room, mom would go crazy and your dad would probably castrate me if we slept in the same room."
"Oh please, just last night we slept in the same bed and our parents lost their virginity being younger than the two of us."
"How do you know that?"
"Useless Facts About The Avengers, Volume V. E.D.I.T.H. is extremely meticulous about her investigation of the Avengers."
"Great, now I won't stop imagining things..."
"What can I say? I am curious by nature."
"Curiosity killed the cat, Tomoko, and seeing as your dad is Chat Noir, I don't want something bad to happen to my kitten."
"Oh, honey, you don't want to get into a flirting battle with me..."
"Is that fear I hear in your voice, cutie?"
"Ah, so you want to play, huh?"
Micah put his guitar aside and walked over to Tomoko as they both smiled happily.
Meanwhile, downstairs, to be more precise in the old Tom et Sabine Bakery, Marinette was cleaning the shelves, dusting them with a damp cloth while the oven was preheating to receive the first trays of pastries that would be cooked in it in the last five years.
"Done, now it only remains to sweep a little and raise the shutters." Marinette said to herself as she smiled when she saw that all the shelves were clean.
Marinette turned and walked over to the oven, opening it to insert the two trays of croissants she had made, and as she did so, the bakery door opened, causing Marinette to gasp and look towards the entrance, surprised to see Adrien as the doorbell fell to the ground and made the blonde pick it up with a face of guilt and nervousness.
"Sorry, I'll pay for that." Adrien said.
"It's okay, don't worry." Marinette said. "Anyway, she was going to change it for something more modern."
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, a bit sore but E.D.I.T.H.'s an excellent nurse."
"Good."
"Yeah, I wanted to open the bakery as early as I could, and as you can see, I already started baking, in about
30 minutes I will be ready to open and sell some croissants."
"You know you don't need to."
"But I want and I do, I can't just sit back and do nothing when I have to support Micah."
"Mari, yesterday was not a game."
"You think I don't know? I was the one who suffered it, Adrien."
"Then you know you should rest."
"I told you I can't."
"Marinette, you don't need to work and you know it, you are a Defender and the United Nations supports us."
"I know, but I don't want to live as a parasite, you know well that I have never liked to just sit there and do nothing."
"You have a company too, Marinette."
"Rarity and Leni are also entitled to the earnings, and let's face it, they're not that many either."
"I can help you with that."
"Adrien, you know that I really appreciate your support and your care, but I think... I think this should stop..."
"What are you talking about?"
"Adrien, although Luka overreacted and his actions were horrible and unjustifiable, I think he had every reason to be jealous..."
"Is not..."
"And now I think I understand why Kagami treats me so badly." Marinette said. "It's because of things like this, Adrien, we spend too much time together..."
"It's because we are friends and partners."
"Adrien, be honest, you and I don't just want a friendship."
Adrien sighed and looked at Marinette, who had turned to close the oven and set the timer.
"I... I just want to help..." Adrien said.
"Adrien, stop..."
"No."
"Adrien!"
"You're right, but I don't want to stop."
"We must do it, it's not fair to Kagami, and not to mention our children, who are already dating."
"I know but... Since Ignobilia, Kagami has changed a lot, as if among everything she took from us, there were also Luka's sanity and Kagami's sociability."
"Yes, but like I said, it's not fair to Kagami or Micah and Tomoko."
Adrien sighed again and looked at Marinette.
"I know... just... tell me something..."
"What?"
"I just want to know... if there was nothing to get in the way... would you give me a chance?"
Marinette sighed heavily and turned as she put her hands to her chest, over her heart, then she looked at the ground and said:
"Yes..." Marinette said. "What's more... I've wondered for a long time what would be different if... if we had... if we had started dating again after the Infinity War..."
"Me too." Admitted Adrien.
"I feel like..."
"... As if you had made a mistake when choosing your spouse, although at the time it wasn't like that and your feelings for him were genuine."
"How do you...?"
"We are in the same, Marinette. Believe me, I married Kagami because I loved her, but after Ignobilia and her returning to that cold and unfeeling part of herself, apart from acting so despicable towards our daughter, my love for her died slowly."
"It's not that similar then. In my case, I loved Luka and I always did, but I don't know why he started acting so... possessive. He started to believe that I was cheating on him with you."
"Moron."
"Yes... And he was the one who killed my love for him, with his outbursts of jealousy and his stupid attempts to make me jealous. And I could bet he did cheat on me because of how he acted."
"Hopefully it's just a supposition."
"Anyway, I don't want to keep thinking about it, it's as if..."
"... as if we wanted the only good thing in all this, which is our children, to have never existed."
"Exactly."
"But you can't help it either, right?"
"No..."
Adrien said nothing and just hugged Marinette, who responded to the gesture almost immediately, both of them staying silent and with their eyes closed, just comforting each other.
However, just outside the bakery, Ryuko was extremely upset.
After completing the paperwork and documentation required to end the alliance that her company had with Stark Industries and OsCorp, Kagami had transformed and had gone looking for her family, finding her right where she had thought they would be, Marinette's house.
However, such a fact only made her blood boil more than she would have believed, because her husband and her ex-friend were embraced like a couple in love and the delinquent that the designer had for a son had dared to tarnish the honor of her daughter, almost literally behind Adrien and Marinette's backs.
Just remembering the first thing was more than enough for her to want to enter to finish what Luka Couffaine had tried the night before, however, she was not a barbarian nor was she as stupid as the rocker, so she repressed her murderous instincts masterfully and leapt away as she drew her dimensional scissors, for she would need them to find the materials she would use in order to exact revenge on her unfaithful husband, her rebellious daughter, and the two morons who had snatched them from her side.
(Hours later)
Tomoko Agreste was peacefully asleep with a big smile still marked on her face, sheltered under a thin purple sheet, when a current of air from the window woke her up by making her feel a little cold, and so the girl opened her eyes slowly and yawned, stretching a little until some of her joints popped satisfactorily and she turned her gaze to the other side of the bed, which was empty, which obviously confused the girl, but she quickly shrugged and sighed before getting up, blushing a little as she felt a little sticky and remember why she was naked.
Tomoko couldn't stop a smile from forming on her lips as she stood up, then walked to the window and closed it, then she turned around and wondered if Micah's mother had heard them, or seen them while they were asleep, or if she would be suspicious if she took a shower.
However, her train of thought stopped short as she realized something.
"The window was closed..." Tomoko said before she frowned and put a hand on her chin. "Although Micah could have opened it to get rid of the stench of sex, it was not necessary to open it fully, especially since the only reason to do so would be to speed up the process, but if he had wanted to do that, he would have opened all the others and even the balcony hatch..."
At that moment, Tomoko gasped and climbed back onto the bed to take the sheet and shake it hard, and as she did so, a tiny object flew out of the sheet, which fell to the floor, being picked up by Tomoko.
After inspecting it for a second, Tomoko grunted as she recognized the object as a tranquilizer microdart from S.H.I.E.L.D., the kind generally used to contain Inhumans and frightened mutants when they discovered their powers.
And since Ignobilia, Nick Fury himself had seen to it that no one was outside the United Nations Security Council, which included the various superhero groups, the Three Sisters (S.H.I.E.L.D., S.W.O.R.D., and W.A.N.D.), and the Stark Industries and OsCorp specialized factories that made them, had access to them, the evidence pointed to only one possible answer to the absence of her boyfriend.
"Great, now I'm just like my mother... But at least my dad is not a complete asshole... " Tomoko growled. "Anyway, I have a mother to murder."
The French-Japanese girl sighed heavily and took her cell phone to call her friends, but before doing so, she remembered the state they had been in after fighting with Viperion, and although Felicity had given the ex-hero a great battle, she didn't want his friends to bite off more than they could chew again, so he sighed again and went down in hee directory to a number that had the name Mark only as the last option of the last options and dialed it, then activated the videocall and a few moments later, the hologram of a girl very similar to Felicity but with tangled brown hair and eyes of an unpleasant shade of green with quite noticeable dark circles under them, was projected by her OZ-Phone.
"It better be life or death, Agreste, I was sleeping." The girl snapped.
"I would not speak to you if it were otherwise and you know it, Parker. My mother kidnapped Micah and possibly Mrs. Couffaine." Tomoko snapped. "I need help to locate her and my friends are not an option, they can not find out about this or they could get injured worse than with Micah's father."
"Well, if it is so that my cousin doesn't get hurt like with Viperion, I will, but only for her." Said the girl of the hologram. "I will assume, from the fact that the Liberty is being repaired, that you obviously had a fight with your mother and also that you are naked, that you're in Micah's mother's teenage room. I'll be there in two seconds."
At that moment, a dimensional portal opened and Tomoko jumped to the side, taking the backpack where her Ronin suit was and, taking advantage of the fact that Micah still had the screen that had belonged to his mother in her teenage years, she took cover behind it and began to dress in his masked justice outfit, while the girl he had spoken to entered the room with a StarkBook under her left arm and a backpack over her right shoulder.
"I really hate you ..." Tomoko snapped a blush as she put on her outfit.
"Please, you don't have anything that I don't.. Although I do have something you don't." The brown-haired girl snapped nonchalantly.
"You are disgusting..."
"I mean the organic web-shooters and poisonous spurs on my wrists, you idiot." The girl replied as she sat in front of the desk to open her StarkBook. "Apparently the Ice Queen is not as prudish as she makes us believe, and by your appearance and the stench in this place, I was pretty naïve to even believe it."
Tomoko groaned as she blushed more than a tomato, then she covered her face with the mask and stepped out from behind the screen to walk towards the newcomer.
"Focus, Felicitas, where is my mother?" Ronin asked.
"The satellites of S.H.I.E.L.D. detect a tiny trace of the tranquilizer used in the dart you found on the ground, as well as signs of activity at an abandoned HYDRA base in the Savage Land."
"Well thanks. It's time to go save my boyfriend and my mother-in-law." Tomoko said as she opened the elongated briefcase to take the katana from it.
"You're not going alone, Agreste, it'd be suicide."
"Did you call my team?"
"No, you explicitly said that you didn't want to involve your team, but you didn't say anything about mine."
Just at that moment, more dimensional portals opened, letting in a 15-year-old girl with pink hair tied in a ponytail, pale white skin with electric-blue colored inverted star marks on her cheeks, two small horns on the head and three eyes that matched her markings, who wore armor in the shape of a dress and a spear of a brilliant silver color in her hand; a 16-year-old brunette girl who wore glasses and had curly reddish-brown hair, who wore a skintight green jumpsuit that had a hood and a circular shield on the back that closely resembled a turtle shell; a 14-year-old black-haired girl with gray streaks in a tight purple suit, a 12-year-old girl with brown skin, straight black hair, who wore black pants, a purple blouse and a denim jacket, and the Light Ranger, in his white and gold suit, but with the mask open, revealing his Caucasian face, with black hair and blue eyes.
"This is a private matter." Ronin said as she hung the scabbard with her katana over her shoulder.
"Like I said, it's a suicide to go alone, so we'll go with you." Said Felicitas as she undressed.
"Couldn't you do that behind the screen?" The Light Ranger asked as he blushed.
"Nah, my body has nothing that can embarrass me."
That said, Felicity's cousin took her backpack and pulled out a purple and black suit, which had a design quite similar to the second Scarlet Spider, but substituting the red for purple, which she quickly put on.
"Ok, let's go." Said Felicitas as she took her backpack and put her StarkBook inside it.
"I really appreciate your support, guys, but this is a sword duel between mother and daughter." Ronin said.
"Knowing your mother, it's most likely that she has defenses in case she's found, and in case she needs time to escape and not be related to any of this." Said the girl with the spear.
"Without forgetting that the Savage Land ain't called that just because it's in the middle of nowhere." Added the girl with the turtle costume.
"And arguing with us you waste more time than you could use saving Micah and his mother." Said the girl in the purple outfit.
"Don't argue any more and let's go." Said the Light Ranger.
"You're taking too long so I already opened the portal." Said the brunette with straight hair as she opened a dimensional portal with her dimensional scissors.
With that said, everyone hurried through the portal to find themselves in the middle of a jungle.
"Alright, this is the plan." Said Felicitas. "Tamara, Valerie and Ed take the rear. We're gonna need the three of you to cover our backs because you guys are the strongest, not counting me."
The girl in the armor, the straight-haired brunette, and the Ranger nodded without saying a single word.
"Shelly, you and Amanda stay in the middle. You create the shields, so just stay sharp in case we need cover." Said Felicitas.
"Stop calling me Shelly, Night Spider." The girl in the green suit snapped. "I already told you that my name's Carapace."
"Whatever. Ronin, you and I are going to the front..." Felicitas tried to say before noticing that Ronin was no longer with them. "Dammit, Agreste... Forget the plan, just follow me."
Night Spider sighed and spun a web line at a branch, yanking it to get off the ground, being followed closely by her team.
Meanwhile, at the abandoned HYDRA base a klick from where Ronin, and Night Spider and her team appeared, Marinette Couffaine woke up feeling strange. She was very dizzy, her ears were ringing and her vision was blurry.
After a few moments of discomfort and some moaning, the buzzing and dizziness gradually disappeared, at the same time that her vision cleared, but what she saw as soon as she got rid of the discomfort she suffered, made her gasp when she realized that she was in a typical secret lair of some villain, tied to a chair and, what was worse, her son was in the same predicament and whoever had kidnapped them was a professional, because aside from the fact that the ropes tied them firmly, the kidnapper knew that he had to take Micah's earrings, since the boy was no longer wearing them.
At that moment, Marinette began to fight her restraints, noticing that even though the ropes were quite tight, she could still use one of Felicia's tricks to free herself, the thing is that she also had to think of a way to distract her captors to also free her son, find his Miraculous and be able to escape.
However, while still trying to loosen her bonds, she managed to perceive a foul smell, a strange mixture of hospital disinfectant, rot and fresh blood, which only alarmed her more, because adding the pieces of the puzzle that she had already assembled, now she knew without a doubt who was behind all this.
"Don't even bother trying Felicia's tricks to escape, the ropes are magic and will retie themselves again, unless I am the one to untie them." Kagami's voice said behind her.
"This has gone too far, Kagami! Free us now!" Marinette demanded.
"In due time, but don't worry, I am not going to hurt you. Unlike you to me, of course."
"What are you talking about?"
"You know what I mean, Couffaine..."
"You're right, but that's between you and me, so leave my son alone."
"Wrong, like you, he has also taken a member of my family from me." Kagami said before filling an injector with a black slimy substance. "But thanks to this potion, I will be able to solve everything at once."
"A heartbreak potion will not help you, and what's more, it will ruin everything.
"You're wrong, because this is actually a hate potion, rather than eliminating the love you have for Adrien and Tomoko, it will turn it into the opposite. And before you think you can restore everything just because I just revealed my plan, this..." Kagami said before showing Marinette a device similar to a red gun. "... will see to it that you forget this little talk."
At that moment, an alarm was heard from an OZ-Book that was on a table next to Kagami, who looked at the screen and grunted when she recognized the girl dressed as a ninja slicing several LMDs that imitated HYDRA agents, with a vibranium katana with a speed and ferocity that surprised Kagami quite a bit, even making her feel an iota of pride and a hint of nervousness.
"I'll have to rush this..." Kagami said as she approached Micah with the injector ready.
At that moment, Marinette gritted her teeth and roared, at the same time that she managed to break the ropes that tied her and while her clothes transformed into a version with elongated black gloves and black boots of her Ladybug costume, with a mask with dark-blue lenses, which completely covered hwr head, surprising Kagami by this.
"Don't you dare. To get near. My son..." Marinette hissed.
"Longg, bring the storm!" Kagami growled, being enveloped by a flash of light that transformed her into Ryuko.
Ryuko tossed the potion vial into the air just before receiving a tackle from Ladybug, getting the injector in the perfect position to land on Micah. However, Ladybug managed to notice it in time and, using the projectors on her suit, created a solid-light yo-yo to catch it and then throw it against a wall, smashing the device and causing its contents to spill onto the wall.
"No!" Ryuko yelled.
"Nice trick, but you'll need more than that to fool me." Ladybug said.
Ryuko roared and kicked Ladybug in the stomach, then spun around and knocked the Frenchwoman down by hitting her with her knee, also using the momentum of the attack to get to her feet to try to continue her attack.
However, Ladybug managed to block a couple of punches and tried to tie her opponent with her yo-yo, but Ryuko caught the solid-light weapon with her forearm and grabbed the rope to pull it and bring Ladybug close enough to hit her on a couple of pressure points to knock her out, but to her misfortune, her opponent's suit increased in density with each hit and absorbed all the damage, rendering the attack useless, so Ladybug tried to strike back at her, but Ryuko blocked each blow and struck her with an open palm in the solar plexus, managing to suffocate her opponent and cause her to stumble backward.
'I can't beat her while I'm still hurt, but I can distract her long enough for Ronin to get here and take Micah to safety.' Ladybug said mentally as she panted. 'I just have to hold on...'
Meanwhile, outside the compound, Tamara, Amanda, the Light Ranger, Carapace and Night Spider had managed to catch up with Ronin and were now in a fierce fight against a group of LMDs that mimicked the former Avengers, Hawkeye, Wasp, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, and Ant-Man, and because of this, the teens were in trouble.
-"Get out of my fucking way, pieces of junk!"- Ronin roared in Japanese through bared teeth as she continued to block the Hawkeye LMD's arrows with her katana.
"Don't you have a spell to banish these things to the Dark Dimension or something?!" Tamara snapped at Amanda while the Captain America LMD blocked her spear attacks.
"I'm not going to send these things to my home!" Amanda roared as she covered herself from the Wasp LMD's attacks with the Shield of the Seraphim.
"This is taking too long and surely Ryuko already knows we're here!" Said Night Spider while she fought with the Black Widow LMD. "We need to lure all the LMDs in the area to let Ronin get to her mother!"
"We can hardly handle these and you want us to attract as many as Ronin's mom has at her disposal?!" Carapace said as she hit the Ant-Man LMD with her shield.
"The goal is for Ronin to rescue her mother-in-law and her boyfriend! We have to do our best to keep these things busy so Ronin can focus on whatever her mother could do to stop us from rescuing Micah and Marinette!" Said Valerie as she tried to take down the Falcon LMD.
"We can't fight alone against so many if just these give us so much trouble!" Said the Light Ranger as he dodged the Iron Man LMD's repulsor beams.
At that moment, a thunderous roar was heard and several trees around it were destroyed by powerful lightning bolts, revealing a new pair of LMDs that arrived at the area, this time being imitators of the Hulk and Thor, the former roaring like the original Hulk, and the latter charging its hammer with lightning.
"God-fucking-dammit..." Night Spider and Ronin growled.
The LMDs of the other Avengers moved away a bit, while the young heroes focused their attention on the LMDs of Hulk and Thor, who began to attack the boys, the first making a great leap and preparing his giant fists to crush the heroes, and the second throwing his hammer against them.
"Shell-ter!" Carapace yelled in an attempt to protect her friends from danger.
"Shield of the Seraphim!" Said Amanda as she casted the shield spell around her.
The Hulk's LMD struck both shields with great force, destroying them and causing a blinding flash of light that caused the heroes to cover their eyes, rendering them defenseless against the Thor LMD's hammer.
However, to everyone's surprise, as the flash of light and the crash of the Hulk LMD and the shields faded, a dimensional portal could be heard being opened in front of them, followed by another rumble and a slight tremor caused by something that crashed a few feet from them.
Moments later, the small group opened their eyes and gasped when they saw Static wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with a blue lightning bolt on the chest, a dark blue hooded cape and a black eye mask, in front of them, and with his dimensional scissors in his hand, as the Thor LMD now laid on the ground with his head crushed by his own hammer.
"Phew, that was close..." Static said.
"Yeah, thank goodness I asked E.D.I.T.H. to monitor everyone on the team's communications in case any of us were being an ass and hiding a fight from the others." Scarlet Spider snapped as she landed next to Static.
"It was because you guys were hurt before, Felicity." Snapped Night Spider. "Your team is good, but mine is better trained."
"Doesn't seem so, you were about to get killed by an LMD." Said the Goblin as he joined Static and Scarlet Spider.
"Just because it was a copy of Thor." Said the Light Ranger.
"Anyway, Ronin, there's a clear path in that direction." Serenity said as she landed next to the others and conjured the Ruby Rings of Raggadorr in front of her hands. "I attracted the LMDs from that area and the're coming here, we'll take care of them, we'll catch up when the coast is clear."
"But..." Ronin tried to say.
"Go, even if we can't catch up with you, if things get ugly, E.D.I.T.H. can give us a hand with this." Said the Goblin.
"And we've the dimensional scissors for a quick getaway." Static said.
Ronin said nothing, she only sighed, put her katana in its sheath and ran in the direction that Serenity had pointed, while the young heroes let out a battle cry and lunged against the Avenger LMDs and the other androids that were arriving.
Meanwhile, back inside the compound, Ladybug had had to switch her solid light yo-yo for a staff similar to Chat Noir's, since Ryuko was now using her sword against her, and to her misfortune, given her opponent's expertise with the sword and the wounds that Ladybug had received from her ex-husband, Ladybug had received several cuts throughout the fight, which only made the heroine get closer and closer to collapse.
For her part, Ryuko had noticed this, and for that reason, she decided to end this charade once and for all, because even if her daughter arrived, she could still hide her entire small operation, so, she mentally invoked her Dragon Lightning power and kicked Ladybug in the abdomen with all her might, electrocuting her opponent and sending her crashing hard into a wall. After her opponent was stunned by the blow to the head when she crashed into the wall, Ryuko put her sword away and headed towards the table again, taking the red-colored weapon to enter some data on a small screen at the rear of the weapon and then load a second injector with more hate potion.
"I wanted to do this quickly and painlessly, but you left me no choice..." Ryuko said as she turned. "Catch..."
At that moment, Ladybug reached out her hands and caught an injector as Ryuko aimed her weapon at Micah, causing Ladybug to look at her in horror.
"Surrender and use the potion on yourself or say goodbye to your son's memory..." Ryuko ordered.
"No! I beg you! Leave him alone!" Ladybug begged. "I'll do it..."
Ryuko smirked, satisfied with the decision of her opponent, however she didn't lower the weapon, as there was a possibility that Ladybug would try something at the last minute and she wanted to be prepared to punish such recklessness.
Meanwhile, Ladybug was between a rock and a hard place, fearing anything Ryuko might do if she tried something to get out of this situation, and feeling reluctant to give up her love for Adrien, but after a few seconds weighing the results of all the last-minute maneuvers she could think of, Ladybug saw no other way out than to do what Ryuko had ordered her to do.
"Time is running out, Marinette, and so is my patience." Ryuko said as she pressed the gun against Micah's forehead.
Ladybug grunted and sighed in defeat, then stuck the injector needle into her left forearm and pressed the button to push the potion into her bloodstream, causing the heroin to cry out in pain as the liquid sprayed through her body.
As Ladybug writhed in pain, Ryuko smirked, but her satisfaction was quickly displaced by a sting of pain that came from her hand, which made her drop the gun, and moments after that she was knocked down by a powerful kick that broke her nose.
After a few seconds, Ryuko turned and felt a warm fluid flow from her hand, causing the woman to look at her hand and gasp when she saw that there was a shuriken stuck in it.
Seconds later, the tip of a purple katana was pressed against her throat, causing her to look up and see her daughter's green eyes filled with rage through the slit in her mask, staring at her as if she wanted to set her on fire with her glare.
"Give me one reason why my sword shouldn't go through your throat right now..." Ronin growled.
"I am your mother..." Ryuko said.
"First strike. Try again."
"Lower the katana right now..."
"That's strike two. Last chance..."
"Air Dragon!"
At that moment, Ryuko became some kind of mist and moved away from Ronin to regain solid form and block a slash of her daughter's sword.
"Stop this now, Tomoko." Ryuko ordered.
"You started it, and I plan to end it here, with your fucking head under my foot." Ronin snapped before launching another series of slashes. "You could have prevented it, if only you had stayed away from me for a few days..."
"I left you alone for a few hours and you let yourself be tarnished by that delinquent like a vile sex worker!" Ryuko roared as she blocked Ronin's attacks.
"Stop pretending to be a puritan, you weren't much older than I am when you did it for the first time! And if you're going to recriminate me that, say it as it was! Micah fucked my brains out like I was his whore until we couldn't go at it anymore!" Roared an enraged Ronin as she blocked Ryuko's counterattacks. "AND I FUCKING LOVED IT!"
Ryuko felt her blood boil at her daughter's words, so she increased the speed and ferocity of her attacks, but to her surprise, Ronin managed to keep up with her without a problem.
Meanwhile, the noises of the mother-daughter fight slowly woke Micah up, who gasped a bit, shook his head and clenched his teeth to get rid of the dizziness, blurry vision, and ringing in his ears, then looked around his surroundings and felt somewhat scared and alarmed, as he could see his mother wearing an alternative Ladybug costume still on her knees watching in shock as Micah's girlfriend fought a sword duel with her own mother, not forgetting that he was tied to a chair.
"Tomoko!" Micah yelled.
"I'll be there in a second!" Ronin said as she gasped and blocked her mother's thrusts. "Just let me cut off my stupid mother's fucking head!"
"Tomoko, no! You're an Avenger, not a murderer!"
"It's what she deserves! She kidnapped you, threatened to erase your memories of me, and tried to force your mother to inject herself with a hate potion!"
"What?!"
"It's nothing that you and your whore of a mother don't deserve!" Ryuko snapped before pushing Ronin away from her with a hard kick to the chest. "Lightning Dragon!"
Ryuko aimed her boken at Micah and a lightning bolt was shot from the tip, hitting the boy tied to the chair and making him scream in pain as the electricity ran through his body, making Ryuko smile machiavellically, until another shuriken struck her outstretched arm, accompanied by a roar of pure rage from someone who tackled her hard, suffocating her.
"DON'T. YOU. DARE. TO TOUCH. MY SON. AGAIN!" Ladybug roared as she hit Ryuko in the face with all her might.
Ryuko could feel a copper taste in her mouth after Ladybug's onslaught, as well as a growing swelling under her eye, however, she was not willing to be beaten yet.
"Water Dragon!" Ryuko yelled.
At that moment, Ryuko turned into a torrent of water that hit Ladybug in the stomach and threw her at Ronin, causing both of them to fall to the ground and quickly get up while Ryuko regained her human form and took up her boken to attack her rival and her own daughter.
At this and noticing that her mother was carrying a small bag around her waist, Ronin smirked maliciously under her mask and lunged to counterattack, making a mistake on purpose, carelessly blocking her mother's onslaught and allowing her to make a cut on her leg with the tip of her sword and elbow her hard, sending the girl crashing into Ladybug, who held her up and kept her from falling to the ground again.
However, Ryuko grunted when she realized that her daughter had committed that mistake only to get close to her and steal the bag where she kept the Ladybug Earrings, and that her daughter had now in her hand.
"It doesn't matter if you have them, you won't give them to that criminal..." Ryuko hissed.
"I wasn't planning on that..." Ronin said, ignoring the injury in her leg, before pulling off her hood to put on the earrings, making Tikki pop out of them.
"Micah!" Tikki said worried about her chosen.
"We'll save him in a moment. Tikki, spots on!"
Ronin threw her katana up, next to the small backpack where she kept her other weapons as she was enveloped by a flash of light which turned her Ronin outfit into a red version of it with black spots, and boots and gloves in the same color.
A moment after her transformation, Ronin caught her bag and her katana, looking at her mother with a determined smile under her scarf.
"This changes nothing, Tomoko..." Ryuko snapped. "You do not know how to use that Miraculous and I am a master with mine."
"I only needed the increase of physical capacities, my weapons will take care of you." Ronin said.
"Besides, we are still two against one." Ladybug said.
"Not for long... Air Dragon!"
Ronin and Ladybug got into a fighting stance as Ryuko turned into air again and approached them quickly.
After that, Ladybug created another solid light yo-yo and quickly spun it around, creating a counter-current of wind that blew Ryuko's air form away, forcing her to revert to her physical form and having to block Ronin's onslaught with her sword, but still, the ex-Avenger had an ace up her sleeve.
"Water dragon!" Ryuko yelled, turning into another torrent of water.
Ronin's sword passed through her mother's water form, as her mother lunged at Ladybug and Ronin, managing to push her daughter back and forcing her to use her katana to steady herself, before retaking her human form and kicking Ladybug with all her strength in the torso, managing to break one of her ribs and send her against the wall. The now villain then prepared to lash out at Ladybug and stab her with her sword to take her out for good measure, but Ronin used the yo-yo on her waist to catch her mother and spin quickly to end up throwing her against a wall, dislocating her arm.
Ryuko grunted and stood up with the intention of putting her arm back in her place, but she didn't have time to do so as she had to dodge several shuriken from her daughter, and a solid light yo-yo that almost hit her in the face.
After that, Ryuko stood up and blocked a blow from her daughter with her uninjured arm and tried to knee her in the stomach, which Ronin blocked with her own knee as she punched her mother's dislocated shoulder, hitting it squarely.
Ryuko screamed in pain and was picked up by the neck by her daughter and smashed hard to the floor, then Ronin got on top of her mother and started hitting her as hard as she could, feeling a huge weight lift off her shoulders and a flurry of euphoria ran through his veins with each punch to Ryuko's face.
As he saw that, Micah gasped and tried to break free, but the ropes only tied more firmly to him, so the bluish-black-haired teenager managed to get to his feet and then leaned back, hurting himself a little but managing to break the chair he was in, freeing himself from the bonds before they tied themselves on him again, then the boy ran towards his girlfriend and tackled her, taking her away from her mother.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" Ronin roared at her boyfriend as she shook him off.
"Stopping you! You are not a murderer!" Micah said as he took one of Ronin's earrings.
"Are you seriously going to defend her after this and last night?!" Ronin snapped as she took off the other earring.
"Yes. Especially after last night, the difference is that my father..."
"There is no difference! She and he are one of a kind! Nothing but a couple of motherfucking bastards!"
"And you are not the same as your mother! You are a hero! What is she? You already said it, just a motherfucking bastard..."
At that moment, a shuriken struck Micah in the chest, causing him to drop to one knee, and Ronin turned around with a murderous look on her face, directed at her mother, who had her arm extended after having thrown one of the shurikens that Ronin had used against her, and to add insult to injury, Ryuko aimed her boken at Micah almost immediately.
"Lightning Dragon!" Ryuko yelled.
Ronin tried to react in time, but her mother's attack was much faster than her, managing to hit Micah and make him scream in pain before the teenager fell to the ground, totally unconscious.
At such a fact, Ronin couldn't help but growl in fury and tighten her grip on his katana until his knuckles turned white.
"Even when he showed you a mercy you don't deserve... you dared to attack him..." Ronin growled with all the rage of her being.
"I do not need his compassion, and no matter what, you are not going to beat me, Tomoko..." Ryuko growled in response.
"You're right about something... I'm not going to beat you..." Ronin said as she dropped Micah's earring to the ground and raised her katana. "I'm gonna kill you..."
Ronin roared and lunged to attack, while Ryuko smiled maliciously and easily blocked her daughter's attacks, because despite having an incapacitated arm, her daughter's attacks were predictable and random, seeking to reduce her resistance and cause some damage rather than seeking to break her defense or leave her cornered, which is why the ex-heroine had the upper hand. However, she had once again forgotten that she wasn't her only opponent, so Ladybug took the opportunity to roar and attack Ryuko from behind, driving a solid-light dagger into her side, which allowed Ronin to launch a thrust against Ryuko's abdomen, piercing her mother's abdomen with her katana.
Ryuko fell to her knees, finally defeated by her two opponents, who unmasked themselves and stared into her eyes.
"I didn't want this to end like this, Ryuko..." Marinette said with an unfriendly look. "But you didn't leave me any other damn option..."
"I am, I am happy with the result..." Tomoko growled as she twisted her katana to hurt her mother more. "I told you I would kill you for that..."
"I just... wanted..." Ryuko said between gasps. "... my family... back..."
"What you call family is nothing more than a sham." Tomoko declared. "You just wanted me and dad to do everything you dictated without saying anything about it."
"He... wanted to abandon me... and you... you hate me..."
"For good reasons, Kagami. - Marinette said. "Adrien really loved you, as much as I loved Luka, but it seems that Ignobilia ruined our lives more than just taking away our friends, it also destroyed all relationships between us, whether they were love or friendship."
"You... and your delinquent of a son... are guilty of... this... and will pay for it..."
Ryuko smirked wickedly as Marinette rolled her eyes and turned around to check on her son, however, before she could even take a step, both she and Micah received a couple of shots to the face, causing Marinette to fall to the ground , totally unconscious.
Tomoko was alarmed as she saw this and quickly turned around, managing to see two LMDs of herself and her father pulling out the storage drives from the memory erasers they were holding in their hands to destroy them, much to Tomoko's terrified gaze and her mother's malicious laughter.
"NO!" Tomoko yelled.
"I told you... you couldn't... win..." Ryuko said, satisfied with her actions.
Tomoko again saw everything in red, feeling how her blood boiled with pure rage and hatred, both directed at her mother, so without looking, she grabbed her katana by the handle, pulled it out of her mother's flesh and turned it to cut her head off once and for all.
However, a web strand stopped the weapon inches away from Ryuko's neck and snatched it from Tomoko's hands, which further enraged her until she saw her friends and Night Spider's team approach her, with the Light Ranger and the Goblin destroying the LMDs that had erased the memories of Marinette and Micah.
While Scarlet Spider caught Tomoko's katana and the latter tried to attack her, Amanda and Serenity saw Ryuko's deplorable state, so they both cast a couple of spells to heal her and take her Miraculous.
On the other hand, Scarlet Spider jumped to dodge a tackle from Tomoko, causing the girl to end up in Static's arms, who held her tightly and, despite being shorter and four years her junior, was able to hold her back with ease thanks to the abilities inherited from his father.
While Serenity and Amanda managed to heal Kagami's wounds, and hold her and keep her quiet with the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, Tomoko bursted into tears as she continued to struggle to free herself from Static's hold, who only managed to shed a tear and sigh at the helplessness that Tomoko had be feeling right now.
"I'm sorry, Tomoko." Scarlet Spider said as she unmasked herself. "We couldn't get here before..."
"You could at least let me have my revenge against the stupid whore that I had the misfortune to have as a mother!" Tomoko cried.
"Would killing her restore Micah's memory or his mother's?" Static asked. "What would Micah think if...?"
"Don't you dare complete that sentence, Lemuel! I swear I'll kill you if you do!"
"Hey, calm down before I have to knock you out!" Snapped Night Spider.
"Stay out of this, Parker!"
At that moment, Felicity sighed and spun some webbing at Tomoko's mouth, effectively silencing her as a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents entered the place, led by the Deputy Director of the same agency, Shining Armor, and accompanied by Clea Strange, Queen Star Butterfly, the agent of W.A.N.D. Ben Weir, the Shadow Ranger, Rena Rouge, and a man very much like Peter Parker, but with longer hair and a burn-like scar on the right side of his face.
"Oh no..." Felicitas said as Peter's clone approached her.
"I thought I forbid you from using your dimensional scissors for international traveling without my permission." Said the clone.
"Technically I did ask for it, since I left a note, but I will still take whatever punishment you consider pertinent, knowing that I did good and it was for a noble cause."
"You are too much like your mother..."
"It's not true, she's a motherfucking bitch nothing different from the prisoner we captured for S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Language."
"Anyway, Kaine, this is crazy, you and your brother have definitely gone too far with this." Benny snapped.
"With all due respect, Uncle Benny, I was the one who wanted to be part of this team and this mission." Valerie said. "My friends needed me and you have told me a lot about how you, Aunt Erica, my parents and Uncle Rory always helped each other when they needed it."
"And she's barely three years younger than you when you started hunting vampires, Ben, although she controls her powers better than you did when you were older, hehehe." Star said with a giggle before looking sternly at her daughter. "However, young lady, I thought I told you that you should not touch the wand until you were 14."
"Please, Mom, I turn 14 until next month." Tamara said as she handed the wand to her mother. "I don't think there is much difference..."
"I don't like this at all, Shelly, you should have at least told me you were coming". Rena Rouge said to Carapace as she ruffled her hair under her hood.
"Not you too, mom!" Carapace snapped as she blushed.
"Aww, you look just like your dad when he blushed."
"And what excuse do you have, Edward?" Said the Shadow Ranger to the Light Ranger.
"None, Felicitas called me and I just came to help her." The Light Ranger snapped.
"Meh, I guess it's better than what I did at your age when I snook out from home."
"This is a lovely reunion, but could someone tell me why Ladybug and Micah Couffaine are on the ground, Ryuko is being held by the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak and Static is holding Ronin?" Shining Armor snapped.
"You already know the answer to Ryuko, Deputy Director Armor." Felicity sighed. "The reason that she is so hurt and that Ronin is being held by Static is that Ronin almost killed Ryuko for erasing the memories of Mrs. Couffaine and Micah."
"The worst thing is that I still don't know the extent of the damage or if it can be reversed, but the remnants of the memory erasers are over there, Uncle Shiny." Serenity said, making the adults have to hold back a giggle.
"I thought I asked you not to call me that in public, Ganymides..."
At the mention of Serenity's middle name, the Sorceress Supreme's daughter couldn't help but blush just like her uncle while her friends held back a giggle.
However, the moment was broken again when one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents accompanying Shining Armor approached him and showed him what was left of the memory eraser storage units that Kagami Tsurugi had used, then the Deputy Director analyzed them closely for a few moments and then gave the former Avenger a cold glare.
"These things didn't even work well and you used them on purpose because you knew that the erasure would be irreversible and could even damage their minds, isn't it?" Shining said sternly.
At those words, Tomoko again felt fire in her veins and instinctively gave Static a head butt so that he released her, then ran while she pulled a knife from her weapon pouch and tried to stab her mother in the neck, but Kaine and Felicitas reacted in time and stopped Tomoko with a couple of web lines, then tied her arms to her body and Kaine used one last web line to snatch the weapon from the girl.
"NO! FUCK, SHE MUST DIE!" Tomoko roared under the webbing in her mouth as she struggled to try to break the web that imprisoned her.
"I'm so sorry, Tomoko." Felicitas said in an unusually empathetic tone for her.
Tomoko glared at Felicitas, then she twisted in pain for a moment as Felicitas created a small charge of energy in her hand and used it against Tomoko, knocking her unconscious.
"That was excessively cruel, Felicitas." Felicity said annoyed.
"I guess dad is right about me then, but I only did it because I don't want to see her cry anymore, I don't like her but I don't want her to suffer either." Said Felicitas.
"Just... shut up, okay?"
"As you wish."
"Agents, confiscate all the equipment present here, place Ladybug and young Couffaine in transfer capsules, take them to the Beholder, and take the prisoner to the Library." Shining Armor ordered. "Avengers, take the kids out of here."
"Stop giving us orders, Shining." Rena Rouge snapped.
"It was a request, Alya."
"Anyway, time to go." Kaine said as he opened a dimensional portal with the half of a pair of dimensional scissors.
"Nity, come with me, we will take Miss Agreste to her house and explain the situation to Adrien." Shining Armor said.
Serenity nodded and deactivated her armor as she walked towards her uncle, while Marinette and Micah were carefully placed in a couple of transfer pods and as the Avengers opened portals with their dimensional scissors to return to their respective homes. After this, Micah and Marinette were taken to a S.H.I.E.L.D. transport that was waiting outside the compound, while Felicity threw Tomoko over her shoulder and carried her as she followed Serenity and Shining Armor, being in turn followed by the rest of her team.
Once inside the transport that already differed very little from a Pelican D79-TC from Halo, the superhero team sighed deeply as Felicity placed Tomoko in one of the seats and fastened her seat belts. Once ready, Felicity sat next to Lemy as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents sat down and secured Micah and Marinette's transfer pods.
The group of heroes shared a fleeting glance with each other, then they all looked at Tomoko and Micah, feeling totally and completely useless.
"We're a bloody failure, guys..." Stanley said suddenly.
"You're not." Shining Armor said. "Do you think that because one of your friends lost his memory and another has a broken heart, you are a failure? Well let me tell you something, your parents lost countless friends, people were injured or worse, and they broke down more times than I can count."
"We're not in the mood for cheap talk about how our parents managed to better cope with the depression of losing, Shining Armor..." Felicity sighed.
"It's funny that you say that, since they used to do the exact same thing that you're doing right now. They drowned in self-pity until someone got fed up and did something so they wouldn't be in the same situation again, and Mary Jane was often the first to come out of that self-pity."
"And my father the last, and for good reasons, among them, curiously, Mary Jane Watson herself ..."
"True, but keep this in mind: You are human, no matter how powerful you become, you won't be able to control everything and sooner or later, you will fail and will continue to do so because that's human nature. So I ask you: Are you gonna let a single failure stop you and keep you from moving forward?"
"Cheap talk from S.H.I.E.L.D. brass, we're Avengers officially..." Lemy chuckled dryly.
"Not yet, you must first stop drowning in your self-pity, after that you can be considered official Avengers."
The group of teenagers sighed and looked back at their unconscious companions, then grimaced in annoyance as the transport took off and flew away from the Savage Land, sealing its doors to exit the atmosphere.
(Later)
Adrien Agreste was furious and heartbroken.
After receiving the news that his wife was locked up in the Library, the prison that Peter had designed specifically for all the heroes in case they turned evil, as had happened during Ignobilia's rampage, and that Marinette and her son were in the Beholder's medical wing, Adrien feared the worst, so he grabbed his worn-out dimensional scissors and headed to the new Avengers headquarters to talk to Peter about what had happened and find out what the hell Kagami had done to Marinette and Micah.
After seeing his daughter with a look that clearly indicated anger, frustration and that her heartbreak, he knew that it all was much more serious than he had initially thought.
And finally, after talking to E.D.I.T.H., Shining Armor, and the New Avengers, Adrien perfectly understood his daughter's feelings.
Kagami had brought her jealousy to the same level as Luka the day before, only instead of targeting her family, she had attacked whom she saw as threats and instead of attacking them physically, she decided to attack their mind and heart, erasing the feelings and memories of both.
And now, as he looked at the recovery tank in which an unconscious Marinette floated, he couldn't help but think that this was his fault, at least in part, if only he had been more discreet, if he had only pleased Kagami, maybe he would've been able to spare his daughter from heartbreak and avoid all the trouble Marinette and her son had been through.
But again, that was just a guess, and most likely Luka and Kagami would've found some other reason to act so criminally.
"Will they recover?" Adrien asked.
"Physically, yes. They're both very tough motherfuckers." Admitted E.D.I.T.H. "Mentally, the scans are inconclusive and since the memory erasers that Tsurugi was using were defective, even repairing them, the memories stored in them are possibly irreparable."
"You're the most powerful damn AI in the universe, how come you can't repair a memory file?" Tomoko asked.
"Because I'm not human. I understand how your brain works and I can emulate how it works and take it further, but human memories are far more fragile than a file. A file always has a backup or a previous version to repair it, human memory doesn't."
"Do you think we can do the same as Dipper and Mabel with their uncle Stan?" Adrien asked.
"This will sound cruel but it's the highest possibility, and by that I mean no less than a 99.87% chance that I'm right, and you need to hear it." Sighed E.D.I.T.H. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Micah Couffaine died in life, who they were was very possibly wiped from existence and the only thing I can think of as the only hope is that you two'll teach them again who you were."
"And can't you use our memories and those of others to recreate theirs and implant them in their minds?" Tomoko asked, trying to hold onto hope.
"We're not talking about computers, Tomoko, and worse yet, I don't know if their minds are completely fine. Memory erasers have to adhere to certain protocols to prevent them from degenerating the mind like old McGucket's did, and the ones your lunatic of a mother used broke all security protocols, even more than McGucket's original..."
"And what about the Infinity Gems?" Adrien asked. "The Mind Gem could..."
"I'm gonna stop you there." Snapped E.D.I.T.H. "The Gems have been lost for almost three decades, Grandpa, the Shadow Ranger and Queen Star randomly scattered them throughout the universe after they defeated Thanos."
"Peter must know where they are..."
"Grandpa is a genius but he's not the Living Tribunal so that he knows everything about the universe."
"Will he feel the same he felt for me before all this tragedy?" Tomoko asked.
E.D.I.T.H. sighed and looked into Tomoko's pleading eyes, knowing that her answer would undoubtedly break the girl, but she couldn't lie to her.
"I'm not gonna lie to you, Tomoko. There are high chances that not only does he not feel the love that the old Micah felt for you, but because he's now technically a completely different person, there's a chance he won't develop such feelings for you either." Admitted E.D.I.T.H.
"No! Please! There has to be something you can do!" Tomoko begged.
"The only thing that could be done is a love potion, but it wouldn't be real love and the Sorceress Supreme has prohibited all kinds of potions of that nature."
To say that Tomoko broke inside when she heard E.D.I.T.H.'s word was an understatement, as the young heroine collapsed to the ground as tears fell from her eyes, feeling how her heart was reduced to less than ashes.
Tomoko growled and roared in frustration, hitting the ground with all her might, feeling a couple of bones in her hand unconsciously break, but that pain was hardly a prick compared to the pressure in her heart, both from the sadness of having lost her boyfriend after just one day of relationship, as for the fact that thanks to her supposed friends she had not been able to avenge him.
For his part, Adrien tried to put his hand on his daughter's shoulder to comfort her and seek to comfort himself, but she got up and ran out of the room, where Lemy, Felicity, Serenity and Stanley were waiting for news of their teammate with a look of concern, however Tomoko ignored the looks of her friends to approach Felicity threateningly and as soon as she was close enough, before the astonished gaze of her teammates, she slapped her so hard that it resounded throughout the station and knocked down the platinum blonde.
Before anyone could snap at the green-eyed girl, she kneed Serenity in the chin, kicked Stanley in the solar plexus, and finally, she punched Lemy in the face.
Once the New Avengers were on the ground, Tomoko opened her mouth to speak, but Felicity shot a web line straight into her mouth, immediately shutting her up and pulling her to her feet using momentum and knocking the French girl down.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! Do all Tsurugi women turn evil or something?!" Felicity snapped.
Tomoko tried to lash out at Felicity, but she deflected the attack and did something that surprised her friends, by simply hugging Tomoko, causing the French girl to start crying on Felicity's shoulder, despite being shorter than her.
"I'm going to forgive you for the slap just because I imagine you must be practically dead inside if we feel like shit about Micah." Felicity sighed. "But he would not have wanted us to disband, and just as we helped him with his father and you in rescuing him, we will help you both with this."
"We're a team, Tomoko, we'll be together until the bitter end." Serenity said as she joined the hug.
"Whatever happens, no one is alone." Stanley said as he put a hand on Tomoko's shoulder.
"We are with you and no matter what, we'll manage to get Micah go back to being that weed-smoking rocker that you liked so much." Lemy smiled as he hugged Tomoko too.
"And about your mother, 'cuz you surely attacked us for not letting you kill her. She's in the Halo Retention Area and she will never leave, her reputation is ruined and neither you nor your father will forgive her, she left as much or more defeated than you from all this."
"But she still has the satisfaction of having taken Micah from me..." Tomoko sighed.
"And you have the opportunity to make him fall in love with you again." Said Serenity. "And when you do, you can rub it in your mother's face, how despite her pyrrhic victory, you won in the end."
"It'll be long and arduous, but you have us, so don't worry, Ice Queen, if there's something that we Avengers do well, it's to help the innocent and avenge the evils of the world." Lemy affirmed.
"And I'm sure that, even though you don't like each other much, Felicitas and her friends will also help us." Said Felicity.
"Now I feel like a complete bitch for attacking you..." Tomoko admitted.
"Pfft, it's no worse than when Lemy ran into Felicity stepping out of the shower a few months ago." Stanley laughed. "The poor guy had to spend a week in a bacta tank because of the beating that Felicity gave him when she thought that he was peeking on her and she ended up making it up to him as a nurse after knowing that everything had been just an accident."
"God, you guys won't let me live after that, ain't ya? Even Lemy already forgave me..." The platinum blonde snapped as she blushed.
"I'm really sorry, guys. I swear I will make up for the attack." Tomoko said, returning to the subject in question.
"As we said, no problem, just don't do it again, we're in this together, no matter what." Said Serenity.
The New Avengers nodded and smiled, then hugged each other again, having to pull Stanley into at the time of bonding since he wasn't a person who liked hugs.
Meanwhile, from the infirmary door, Adrien could feel happy to know that his daughter had very loyal friends to lean on in these difficult times, and he also felt a bit of envy, since his own friends had cut ties with the others, or had passed away, or had become traitors.
However, as he looked at the New Avengers reaffirming their friendship, a hand rested on his shoulder, making him turn and gasp when he realized that he was no longer alone.
Paris' number 1 reporter, Alya Lahiffe; the owners of Fabulous, Stylish and Miraculous, Leni Loud and Rarity Belle; the owner of Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack Apple; the agent of W.A.N.D., Benny Weir; the Shadow Ranger, Jason Scott; the OsCorp CEO, Harry Osborn; the OsCorp Head of Biochemical Research and Weapons Development, Lisa Loud; the Sorceress Supreme, Twilight Sparkle; the Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Shining Armor; his daughter's bodyguard, Flash Sentry; and Kaine and Peter Parker were behind him.
"I assumed that you would envy the proximity of our children, so I called our friends to show you that you're not alone in this, Adrien." Peter said. "That's why I wasn't here personally, I'm sorry if I took too long."
"Maybe we got too far apart, but that doesn't mean we'll leave you alone, Goldilocks." Harry said.
"We"ll like, help Marinette remember her life, no matter the cost." Leni said.
"And there were more people willing to come, but they had things to do, but they wanted you to know that they will also support you and Marinette." Twilight said.
"And before you say anything, we know that for years, you and baguette girl have seen each other with loving eyes and don't try to deny it." Jason said.
"I won't deny it, but she and I had agreed not to move forward with our feelings for our children." Adrien sighed.
"Maybe you two could try later, but for now we have to focus on repairing the damage that Kagami's betrayal caused." Rarity said.
"And that we'll never leave you alone, neither you nor Marinette." Alya said firmly.
"'Bout time we all got together again." Applejack sighed. "Too bad t'was 'nother tragedy that made us realize that."
"Better late than never, I guess." Flash said.
"At least we still have time to remedy that." Kaine sighed.
"Thanks, guys, seriously." Adrien smiled weakly.
"As we have always said, my dear friend, and no longer just as a battle cry." Peter said with a smile. "Avengers Assemble."
That said, the adults smiled and shared a group hug, which the children noticed and made them smile as well.
"Maybe Ellie Wilson is right, there is always a beam of light even in the darkest night." Felicity said with a small but sincere smile.
"Friendship is truly magical, guys, I've always told you and Mom never gets tired of saying it too." Serenity added.
"Cheesy but painfully true, four-eyes." Lemy laughed.
"Shut up, you shrimp..."
