Panic and Promposals

Sasha was tough, she was tougher than tough. She was brave and badass. She was second in command to Captain Grime. She was a warrior, a protector. She fought in a war for the freedom of Amphibia. So why was she so scared of asking a couple of cute girls to Prom? It made no sense. She's been to Prom before, she's been asked to Prom and she asked other to go to Prom. Why was this one such a big deal?

Sasha look at the two notes in her hand, one blue and one green. One for Anne and one for Marcy.

"Come on Waybright you can do this. The worst thing that could happen is that they say no." Those words were meant to comfort but actually they had the opposite effect. Her heartbeat picked up and her palms were sweaty.

Her phone alarm went off, reminding her she didn't a lot of time to get to school. Sasha shook her head, put the notes in her bag and ran out of the house towards her school.

Lucky for her she was a fast runner.

"Sashy!" Marcy called for her, waiving her arms, Anne beside the energetic nerd, looking slightly nervous about something.

"Hey Mar-Mar. Hey Annie." Sasha embraced Marcy first, as the girl ran straight for her. Physical contact initiated by other was still something Sasha was getting used to but she found it more welcome from Anne and Marcy than others. Sasha hugged Anne next, careful not to squeeze her right arm too much.

Anne had lots of scars up her arm from the war, she couldn't even clench her fist at first but she was slowly getting better. It still ached from time to time though. Just like Marcy's scar on her chest and Sasha's on her right eye. Marcy called the Scar Buddies as an attempt to remind them that the three of them were in this together. Together. Right.

"So... who are you guys going to Prom with?" Smooth Sasha, real smooth. Sasha mentally slapped herself, this was already going wrong.

"Huh? Well... haven't asked anyone yet, or been asked." Anne looked away from Sasha and Marcy, shifting on the feet nervously, "What about you guys?"

"Uh... didn't think about it honestly. Um..." The bell rang just as Marcy opened her mouth to say something else, "Oh wow look at that. The bell! Gotta go, see you girls in class." Marcy ran off before Sasha could stop her.

Now it was just Anne and Sasha. Anne looked at her expectedly, "Oh. Well yeah of course I've been asked to Prom." Sasha crossed her hands over her chest and listed her chin, her voice smug as it can be, "I just haven't decided yet." This was getting worse and worse, why couldn't she just ask them like a normal person and be done with it.

"Oh. I see. Well... I'm sure whoever you go with is gonna be really lucky." Anne visibility deflated, her mood no longer nervous but rather sad, "I'll see you after class ok?"

Sasha's eyes widened, "No Anne wait I meant..." Anne was already walking towards the door, leaving Sasha by herself, "Way to fuck it up Waybright. Way to fuck it up." Sasha sighed and walked to her own class.

During breaks she was hyping herself up. It was just a note. A note that she had to give to her best friends who she's been crushing on for years. No pressure, no pressure. She got a text from Anne asking all three of them to meet up after school. Of course she would, maybe this was her chance. She won't mess this one up!

When they met up all three looked like a nervous mess.

"Hey." They all said at the same time, making them laugh, easing some of the tension.

"What's up Anna-Banana?" Anne blushed at the sound of Marcy's nickname. Odd. She never did that before.

Anne's hands were in her pockets, "Well you see... I kinda wanted... ugh why is this so hard?!" Anne took a deep breath, "I wanted to ask you two to go to Prom with me!" Anne thrust her hands towards each of the girls. In one hand was a green note, and in the other a yellow one. But Anne was just looking at the ground, not meeting either of their eyes.

There was silence between the three. Then Sasha spoke up, "You too?" Slowly she reached into her back and pulled out the two notes she'd been planning on giving to Anne and Marcy.

"Wait what? But I..." Next was Marcy who also pulled out who notes, one yellow and the other blue.

The three girls looked at each other stunned. Then they burst out laughing so hard they were crying.

"Oh my frog we're idiots!" Anne laughed so hard she had to lean against a wall.

"I can't believe we all had the same idea." Sasha whipped a tear from her eye.

"Well they say great minds think alike. So you guys wanna do this together?" Both Anne and Sasha nodded, the trio composing themselves.

"Will you go to Prom with me?" They all said at the same time each giving the other the note that matched their color. "Yes." They said as they accepted the notes, unable to keep from laughing all over again. They were dorks, but at least they were each others dorks.
