Night had fallen quickly on the Planet Phadoes. Not more than a few ours ago, the sky was painted with colors of red, pink, and orange. But all of those pretty and bright colors had faded leaving only a black canvas sky with no twinkling stars shining above. The darkness was thick and the torch hanging on the wall, barely lit up the cave. Other than the darkness, everything else seemed to exist was the chilly wind that a harsh bite could be felt on his bare skin. Tommy knew if he was a human instead of a bird, he could imagine the hairs on his arms and neck raising up from the bite of chilly and cold wind. The blood in his body ran through his veins and his bones were chilled. The flames of the torch, may appear as if they were warm, but none of the heat could reach his skin.
"Being a raw chicken is worse than I imagined," Tommy sighed as he moved closer to Kimberly's body. He laid his bare wing over her featherless body. "I wish I had feathers to keep you warm. But, this is the best I can do right now."
"Will this help?" Duclea asked as she brought in a large square shaped pillow and a blanket. "You need your sleep."
"Sure," Tommy answered. "It's cold laying on the cold ground."
Duclea lifted them up and carried them over to the pillow and sat them down. She covered them up with the baby blanket.
"You should be able to get a good nights sleep," Duclea stated. "Keep her close to you, Tommy. She needs you."
"I have always been there for her and I always will," Tommy answered as Kimberly woke up. "She's...she's all I have now. Becoming a falcon and a crane has changed everything for us. No one understands us and Ivan Ooze and his family are after us."
"I am an ugly raw chicken!" Kimberly yawned. "And it is my fault Tommy is in this shape too-"
"-please don't blame yourself," Tommy requested as he looked into her doe eyes. "When the other villains captured you, I thought I had lost you. When I found out that you were in the cave, I was willing to do whatever I had to, so I could get you back. And if it took being a raw chicken to get you back, it was worth it."
"I didn't want this for you," Kimberly said as tears formed in her eyes. "We were to come here to find out how to return to normal-"
"I am okay with this," Tommy reminded her. "Our feathers will grow back over time and then we can continue our journey. But, now we can't fly away. We are defenseless now."
"But, how do we survive in the meantime?" Kimberly asked.
"This has happened to another falcon and crane 6,000 years ago," Duclea explained. "But, this crane was green instead of pink. Her name was Irina. Ivan was after them. I told them that they had to stay here until their feathers grew back and then they were able to continue their journey-"
"-did they return to normal?" Kimberly asked as Tommy moved her closer.
"No, I am afraid not," Duclea sighed as she hung her head. "The crane blamed the falcon for what happened. She snuck out of the cave and she met Ivan disguised as a purple falcon. She was angry at the falcon for them loosing their feathers. They were lovers just like you two are. But, Irina was selfish. She was wrapped in herself and she fell out of love with the falcon-"
"-how could that happen?" Tommy asked when he tucked Kimberly under his wing.
"Irina only married Irwin for his money," Duclea answered. "That night they were attacked by Ivan and became a falcon and a crane. They were brought here and I saved them. I brought them here-"
"-and she left," Kimberly guessed.
"-yes, she did not love Irwin," Duclea answered. "She was a very evil person and she was wanting better. Believe it or not, she had been cheating on Irwin with Ivan."
"Then, why did he attack them to make them loose all their feathers?" Tommy asked as Kimberly snuggled closer to him. "Wouldn't he have attacked just attacked Irwin?"
"That was part of Ivan's plan," Duclea replied when she put another blanket on them. "Ivan was looking for a mate to help him rule the world. He was testing Irina to see if she would be the prefect wife. He made many promises to her-"
"Like what?" Tommy questioned raising an eyebrow.
"Iriwn had money," Duclea explained. "Irina wanted a child that she could train to be evil and take over the world. But, Irwin had a pure heart and wouldn't let her have a child. So, she planned on leaving him. While Irwin was sleeping, Ivan visited Irina. She was angry and told him that she looked horrible and it was all Irwin's fault. Ivan told her that he could change thing if she came to him. He promised to give her back all of her feathers and even turn her back into her normal self. He gave her a purple pendant and told her it would turn her into a purple falcon. No one could detect her under his magic and she could make her way to Ivan's secret hide out."
"So, she just left him!" Kimberly gasped. "What happened to Irwin?"
"Sadly, he lost his life," Duclea replied as she tapped the wall and a stone wall appeared in front of the cave entrance. "Irina told Ivan about Irwin refusing to let her train any child they had to grow up to be evil. It turns out Ivan wanted a child to train to be evil as well. So, it wasn't long before Irina became pregnant with Alvin. She had been with Ivan for two months and Irwin was really worried about her. He had been looking for her that whole time. When he found her, she was turned back into her normal self and was with Ivan. Irwin was heart broken and tried to convince Irina to come back with him. But, she refused. Ivan used some of his magic to weaken Irwin. Irwin didn't have any strength left to fight back. Irina had magical powers that she rarely used; she used them to turn Irwin to stone."
"Can we save Irwin?" Tommy gasped.
"I'm afraid not," Duclea sighed as she hung her head. "She destroyed the stone like statue of Irwin-"
"-why?" Kimberly interrupted.
"Because Irwin's animal spirit was the falcon. He could defeat her when he found his true love. He would be trapped as a falcon. But, if he found a crane and they both fell in love they could defeat Ivan and Irina," Duclea revealed watching Tommy pull Kimberly closer to him.
"Do you mean a human or a crane?" Tommy questioned.
"A human," Duclea revealed taking a deep breath. "Ivan had attacked a girl who had the animal spirt of the crane. This girl was a very close friend of Irwin's. However, they didn't end up together. Irina was jealous and used her magical powers to create a potion to make the Irwin fall out of love with her. This girl was really hurt and watched as Irwin fell in love with Irina. One of her friends found out what Irwin did and she went to go search for Irwin. But, she was attacked by Irina. She had just found Irwin just before she destroyed the statue. She could have broke the spell if she kissed him. Irina and Irwin teamed up to attack the girl. She was struck down and pull through. However, the girl had gotten pregnant with her son by Irwin when Irina made her fall out of love with him. She learned the truth right after she gave birth to her son. She left her son with her parents. The son had the animal spirit of the falcon. Tommy this was one of your descendants."
Author's note:
It's good to be back. I've taken a three month break because I was getting writers block all the time and I have an ill family member. I am planning on working on this story and I'm in the process of planning a new story now.
