Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUELS
Duel 004: Let the Light Shine On - Part 3
On the battlefield now stood the powerful and terrifying Judgment Dragon, a card called down to the field by Lukas after his draw. Nelson and Snipe Hunter both looked on in absolute horror as the dragon's ruby eyes glared back, mercy nowhere in its eyes.
LUKAS: 1050
NELSON: 1900
"So how does it feel to be the one on the receiving end? Then again, you brought this on yourself. NOW you'll know how Kuriboh and the OTHER Spirits you've harrassed felt!" Lukas asked. They were both dead silent while Nelson's partner looked on also.
"Oh man….I-I forgot that card existed." he said.
"Judgment Dragon…." Nelson muttered.
Judgment Dragon
LIGHT - Lv. 8 - Dragon-Type Effect Monster - ATK: 3000 | DEF: 2600
Judgment Dragon can only be Special Summoned from the hand while you have 4 or more different named "Lightsworn" monsters in your Graveyard. Its controller can pay 1000 life points to destroy all other cards currently on the field. During each End Phase, its controller must also send the top 4 cards of their Deck to the Graveyard.
The symbol on Lukas' hand began to shine brightly as he activated the dragon's special ability, sacrificing almost all his current life points.
LUKAS: 1050 - 1000 = 50
With the sum paid, his dragon let out a powerful roar that caused the entire dueling field to quake. In the wake of its destructive power, everything Nelson currently had evaporated before his eyes, including his Xyz Monster. With his field now wiped clean, even the rubble stirred up by the battles, nothing stood in the way of Judgment Dragon's immense aura.
"N-No….this can't be happening…..I CAN'T lose now!" Nelson thought, still too scared to speak. Lukas then pointed towards him, the mark on his hand still shining.
"Judgment Dragon! End this duel! Attack Nelson directly with your mighty Judgment Cannon!" Lukas called. The dragon opened its jaws, building up a radiant sphere of light within, and took aim. Nelson momentarily stuttered back a step before the dragon opened fire, firing a blinding blast of light that struck both him and Snipe Hunter. The two yelled in agony as the attack pressured down on them both. The aftermath explosion threw him to the ground as Snipe Hunter was sent flying backwards, skidding across the ground.
NELSON: 1900 - 3000 = 0
DUEL OVER!
LUKAS WINS
LUKAS: 50 - NELSON: 0
The duel was over as Lukas remained frozen as a statue, feeling the intense feelings he had wash over him and his dragon vanished from sight. At the same time, the light on his hand began fading away until the mark itself was gone. Kuriboh squealed with glee, flying around Lukas' head before nuzzling itself in his arms. His human partner shared in his excitement as he hugged him back.
"Ha ha! We won!" Lukas exclaimed "See, Kuriboh? I told you we wouldn't lose!" The pair greatly cheered while Nelson's partner rushed over to his side.
"N-Nelson! A-Are you okay, man?!" he asked. Nelson groaned, rising up from the ground and glared over his shoulder at Lukas celebrating. What started as a quiet sound grew to a loud and violent growl, his anger beginning to peak again. In a flash, he got back on his feet and came charging for Lukas. Lukas was able to see him coming and pushed Kuriboh out of range before he was knocked down to the ground. All he could see now was the look of absolute anger in Nelson's eyes. Kuriboh floated nearby, watching everything play out with fearful eyes. Without a word, Nelson turned back to his partner while he kept Lukas pinned down.
"What are you waiting for, you idiot?! Stop gawking and GRAB THAT HAIRBALL!" he yelled. Lukas gasped before he quickly tried to fight against his pressuring grip.
"We had a deal! You said Kuriboh was free if I beat you!" Lukas shouted "Well, I did! Now get off me!" With a fiery anger, Nelson growled before turning back to him, pushing down harder on him.
"As if I have to listen to some little twerp like YOU! I always get what I want! You honestly think I'd honor my own words?! Learn to tell lie from truth!" he roared, glancing back to his partner "Now do what I do and grab the Spirit!". However, before anyone could make another move, the sounds of police sirens snapped Nelson back to reality. Everyone gasped as police cars began swarming around the lot. At the same time, Lukas saw Alice arriving on scene, having taken a ride with the police. Nelson instantly let go of Lukas before rising on his feet, slowly stepping back from him with fear now on his face. At the same time, Alice and Lukas glanced to one another before smiling and giving a thumbs up to the other.
"W-What? B-But how…?" Nelson muttered. Just then, he spotted Alice hurrying over to her friend's side and the truth hit him.
"No way…did she run off to call the cops?!" he thought, his anger starting to surface again. But the sight of the police chief stepping out of the car flushed it out again.
"Well, well, well….if it isn't Nelson. And here I was wondering when you'd show your sleazy face again. Looks like you bit off more than you could chew this time." he said, causing Nelson to gasp "You, your partner AND your Spirit ally are under arrest. You should've known that the law does not allow the abuse or harrassment of our citizens, human OR Spirit." Officers then hurried to restrain Nelson, catching his partner at the same time as a Search Striker picked up the unconscious Snipe Hunter by his leg.
"What a disgrace. How low are fiends like you willing to sink?" Search Striker said. Lukas and Alice vacated the parking lot as Nelson wound up with his arms restrained behind his back. A look of anger was in his eyes as he stared back at the boy and Kuriboh.
~ A While Later… ~
Following their duel, Lukas and Kuriboh hurried themselves over to DM Evolution Industries with Alice joining them. They had his Duel Disk looked over and its hardware checked to make sure Nelson didn't leave any kind of glitch or bug that could sever their bonds. After a thorough check, Backup Secretary returned his Duel Disk to him.
"Good news. We didn't find anything wrong with your Duel Disk or its operating systems. Whatever Nelson tried to pull on you did not leave behind anything to worry about." she explained. Lukas and Kuriboh sighed heavily, feeling their worries vanish.
"That's good. I was REALLY worried for a moment." Lukas said. Alice simply watched with a smirk before, thinking back to what she heard, recalling the loud roar she heard before calling the police.
"Hey. I know you won that duel, but I have to ask….what was that booming voice?" she asked.
"Oh. That must've been Judgment Dragon you heard. He was the winning draw for me." Lukas explained, fishing through his Deck to show her the card. Alice lightly gasped at the sight of the card.
"Whoa. No way." she said "I almost forgot that card existed." Lukas chuckled.
"That's what Nelson said too." he replied, shuffling the card back. Just then, they noticed a pair of officers from earlier enter through the front doors, finding them at the main desk. Joining them was the police chief as well.
"Pardon our intrusion. But I happened to hear Nelson mutter something about a "Lukas" as we hauled him away. Am I to assume that is your name, young man?" he asked. The two momentarily glanced at each other.
"O-Oh. Yes, sir. My name is Lukas Yuske…and it was my friend here that Nelson was after." Lukas explained, rubbing Kuriboh's fur with one hand. The police chief then smiled as the officers briefly saluted to them.
"Well, Lukas, I suppose I have you to thank for giving us that window of opportunity. You have no idea how long we were trying to catch Nelson in the act. Just when we think we got him, he always found SOME WAY to slip away. But thanks to you and your friend's actions, he is finally getting what is coming to him." the chief explained "It may take a short while, but expect a good reward for your assistance in catching one of Prism City's "spirit harassers". ALL of you deserve it." They both gasped while Kuriboh merely scratched his head. Behind Backup Secretary, Cyberse Wizard and Draconnet joined her.
"You deserve it. Thanks to you, we can rest a bit easier now." Cyberse Wizard added "Sorry. We couldn't help but overhear." Draconnet nodded while Lukas and Alice both smiled.
"T-Thank you very much, sir." Lukas said, bowing back in respect to him. Alice did the same shortly after as the chief laughed.
"It always warms my heart to know we still have good folks in the city like you kids." he said. Shortly after, they took the time to speak with both of them to get the full details about what happened at the parking lot. While it was Lukas' turn, he paused for a moment to reflect back on the angry look on Nelson's face.
"I hope there aren't that many more like Nelson left. I got out of this mess thanks to blind luck…but what if there is someone out there worse than Nelson?" he thought. He then glanced for a moment at Kuriboh seated near the counter with the other Cyberse spirits.
"What am I worrying about that for? I promised my partner that I'd never let him feel bullied again. So, even if someone else shows up, it'll just be up to me to put them in their place." he thought, a feeling of determination returning to him.
