December 28, 1969

They had no idea what to expect on the other side. Death?

"Sir, the portal! Its sending something through, someone." One of the operators at the terminal got Hudson and Adler's attention.

"Romanov? He's early." Hudson raised an eyebrow.

"It appears that there is six life forms traveling through." The operator read the computer screen.

"Get your weapons, everyone get ready we might have a breach!" Adler shouted to everyone in the room. They all took their positions.

Waiting seemed like an eternity but the platform of the portal rumbled forever. Until it stopped. All was still and even the sounds of their own beating hearts could throw each other off. Suddenly the beaming light blinded them all. Adler even squintted through his aviators, taking cover behind a large crate.

The beam dissolved away, revealing Park and her team. "Open fire!" She said.

"I want those three alive!" Adler reloaded his 1911 pistol, shouting over a hand held radio, clearly talking about the three who looked to be taking charge.

Unfrotunate for them, the terminals had been damaged in the fight. Removing her helemet, Park shot one of the lights above Hudson's head. Glass came, shattering down from above. Beck did the same, shooting a few more. Portnova soon followed.

"Portnova, toss a smoke. Rush them, I'll tale care of Adler." Park reloaded her Ak.

"Copy. Beck have your knife ready." Portnova pulled a pin from the canister before tossing it into the crowd of enemies.

They covered Park as she diverted from the group, making her way towards Adler. Tossing a smoke of her own, she grabbed her knife, using stealth to rid them one by one.

There he was. 'America's Monster' as people had called him. "Where is he?" She gently snuck up behind him, casually placing the blade to his throat. She made sure to disarm him of his pistol.

"We don't know." He said, almost to calmly.

"Don't give me that shit Adler! You know exactly where he is."

"You asked me where he is, not what happened to him."

"So what happened to him?"

"Well before he left he told me to tell you that he never wanted to see you again. Or any of the rest of your communist gang." He lied.

"What did you tell him?" Her tone sounded deadly.

"Only what he wanted to hear. He didn't ask but deep down I know he had a long craving for it."

"And what is that?"

"To know who his family is of course."

"He already knows who his family is Adler! He knows all about them."

"All about how they were just a bunch of people playing in on the hoax. It took some digging but I found the evidence. The evidence Perseus tried to hide. Because in this year, it was all being fabricated. Romanov may think hes the son of his mother and father, brother to a younger sister. He's lucky he's got his looks to hide his ignorance." Adler chuckled.

"What are you talking about!" She tightened her grip around his neck.

"Our two men down!" Portnova said over comms.

"He's doesn't belong to a normal family, Park. The man he's always looked up to. The only one who he has a bond with that was as strong as his father's bond. Yet he wonders why he Perseus is like a father to him. Idiot couldn't even recognize his own flesh and blood in front of him. I just don't know why Perseus hasn't told him yet. Maybe to make killing him that much easier." He lied again. Sort of. Although Benedikt had never mentioned much about his squad, Adler managed to find out what he never knew. The truth. He was setting the two of them up. If he was going to die he would make sure he would have the final laugh to ruin the pair that he deapised so much.

She heard gunfire cease in the background. "Park, what shall we do about this Hudson fellow?" Beck asked over comms. "We don't need him." She responded.

"Got it." Beck said, followed by a loud bang.

"Fix it, you've got work to do!" She walked him over to the terminal, shoving him, replacing her blade with her gun. There were shattered peices of the terminal scattered and shattered across the ground.

"I'm going to die either way, might as well make your lives miserable." Adler refused.

"Fine." She pistol whipped the man. He fell unsconsciouss to the ground. "Tell Perseus we have Adler and that we found this... Thing." She said to Portnova.

"I think you forget that we are not exactly in the correct year." Portnova reminded her. "Plus, some of these peices don't even look to be capable of fixing. It would take an entirely new model for this to get up and running again.

"Bullocks." She sighed. They were limited with what they could do or who they could even work with. "Wait." She had an idea. "Whats the date. Exact date, month, year, all of it." She asked Beck.

"December 28, 1969." He replied, looking at the cracked computer screen.

"I know someone who can help us." She had a glint in her eye.

2065

They woke up early the next morning. After a quick meal from the small cafeteria, he regrouped with Walsh and Baker in the breifing room.

"And there he is now." Walsh said to Baker and another woman as Benedikt walked in.

"Benedikt Romanov is it?" The blonde lady asked him, thrning around and extending her hand outwards.

"Yes." He narrowed his brow, shaking her hand.

"Savannah Mason. Agent Walsh tells me about you. The 1980s must have been quite the experience. Perhaps you even knew my grandfather, Alex." Her hair was tied up and she wore a a dark red bussiness like blazer and pants. The way she presented herself alone was enough to somewhat intimidate him, had they been in surroundings he was comfortable with it would have been a different story.

"Yes, I've heard of him." He didn't want to mention their past work together. Theres no telling what she knew that he didn't. The fact that she was his blood made him wonder how much more dangerous she could be.

"You'll have to tell me what you know about him somtime. Anyways, I'm the one who runs things around here. I own the building and get approve missions and get projects approved by the few higher ups above me. And I'v decided to make you our newest addition to the team."

"Wow... thats.. great!" He wore a fake smile.

"We'll have to get your DNI implanted and get you used to moving which typically takes only a few hours. Which is why even though you may see your new hand as very odd, our cybernetics are meant to be adaptable much more qucikly than what they once were."

"And what is a DNI?" He asked.

"Direct Neural Interface." Baker said. "Basically its a small computer inside your mind that bends to your will. Paired with cybernetics, its what helps boost your strength, agility, and overall abilities that typical soldiers would never be able to perform. You already posses great skills, imagine tripiling them. Being able to connect with machines and making them do what you want, its vital for running missions. Without it, anyone can easily overtake you."

"So let's get it set up." Savannah said with a casual smile.

"Surgery? Right now?" Benedikt asked.

"What better timing. The process only takes about ten minutes. After so much advancement in the medical field, people discovered a way to make surgerys quicker by replacing the surgeons with extremly precise machines." She walked him down the hall and into a medical bay, finding it strange how Walsh and Battery stayed behind."So, tell me, how is the future?"

"It feels like a new world. I was on the brink of death not long ago.. well for me it wasn't that long ago. But then I wake up, out of the ice and its as if I'm born again."

"You had any family back before you went under. Anyone you cared about?" She asked him.

"No, I killed them..." sometimes he wished he never went through weeks of therapy and conditioning to get his memory back.

"Oh. Well everyone has to die eventually." She said casually.

"Yeah..." the door opened to his room.

"Just lie down on that bed over there and the droids will get you set up. You'll wake up again in about thirty minutes." She pointed towards a bed with a medical gown on it. "See you soon."

After a quick wardrobe change, he tossed his gear into a nearby chair and laid down on the bed. The robot freaked him out some as he saw it creep towards him, needle in hand. "Stay still while I sedate you." The droid flicked the needle with his metal finger. "Once you wake up, things may appear strange to you. You may experience various side effects, including death but do not freak out and please try to control your heart rate by maintaining steady breaths. Sleep well patient Romanov." He watched another robot slide a metal tray nearby. He didn't have time to panick before his eyes grew heavy, and they shut.

Thanks for all the support on this story, its been fun to write! If you have any suggestions on what I should write, what you'd like to see feel free to let me know I want to start writing more universes such as Star Wars and I need some ideas.
