1969
Antartica
Beck had managed to uncover a small portal that allowed them to hop from one location to another. The only thing being, they lept within the same year.
"What the hell kind of science project is that Barry?!" Thomas sounded startled as they came out of the other end of the smaller portal.
"The American kind. And the name's Beck, Ingo Beck." He patted the man on the back as Thomas placed his hands on his knees fatigued for a moment.
"You two might want to walk away for a moment.." he said.
"You alright Tom?" Park asked her brother.
"Mhm. Just go over there." He looked at her from the corner of his eye, holding up a finger while he was bent over.
"You made sure you got the parts?" She walked over to Beck, giving Thomas a minute.
"Yes. I guess we were lucky stores were open late enough for us to find them..." Beck drifted off, hearing Thomas puke. "Gross." He simply said, taking the backpack and rounding the corner to find the terminal.
"Could you do it any louder Tom? Suprised you haven't woken the dead." Park teased, walking over to him.
"I feel better now. Just portal hopping sickness. If thats even what you call it." He stood tall, the two following Beck. "Plus I would say the time you shattered mum's entire china cabinet was louder than the guts I just vomitted." The two chuckled.
"Or when we both accidently put a hole in the wall and the painting fell and broke the glass table." She smiled.
"I don't remember that." He looked at her with a confused smile.
"Must not have happened yet." She diverted her eyes away from his, reminding her of the short time he had left on this world.
"I bet I took the blame for it, saving your skin for the tenth time." Its as if time hadn't changed her image of him at all. He still had that confident smile on his face.
"Nineth time. That mess at Christmas that one year... doesn't count."
"Comrades, glad to see that didn't take long at all." Portnova greeted them. "I see you got us some help?"
"Yes, my brother, Thomas." She said as they stepped over the still dead corpses from earlier.
"Pleased to be at everyone's service." He shook Portnova's hand cheerfully. "Now someone, tell me what I can do to help."
"I've got the tools over here. Let's get to work." Beck waved for him to follow to the broken terminal.
"Wheres Adler?" Park asked Portnova.
"Over there." She turned and pointed to the beaten man leaning against a rail.
"He been giving you fits since we've been gone?"
"He's attempted to get inside my head. I assume its one reason the CIA values him so much. But a few beatings later, he got real quiet."
"Keep him like that. We might need him if have trouble with this." She and Portnova looked over to Beck and Thomas.
"They seem to be getting along very well. If someone pulled me through a portal and asked me to help restore a broken time machine terminal I don't think I'd be as cheerful as your brother."
"He's always like that. Its why he was the one to get us out of trouble when our parents would come home and find a mess of things. Its the reason why we're going to get Benedikt back."
2065
"Alright. Listen up. Spectre, Reaper, Benedikt, your with me. Once Prohphet gives us a confirmed ID, pop some smoke and push up. Battery you lead the others to flank them from behind. If Alexi is to go anywhere it will be up, and theres not much room for him to run once he reaches the top. And remember Alexi is to be taken alive. Make sure you all have some shock charges on you." Ruin spoke to his team gathered around him in a dinly lit alley way, not far from their destination. "Is everyone ready? Battery? Prohpet?"
"Let's go green." She responded with a nod.
"Spectre, Benedikt, on me. Let's move." He said quietly.
"Prophet, whats your status?" Benedikt asked after they reached the upper levels of the building. They stood on the terrace awaiting an answer.
"Give it a second. I'm waiting for him to turn around." Prophet responded, looking through his sniper scope.
The night breeze whispered by. The silence made the traffic of the passing cars sing just a little bit louder. Benedikt stood, one foot proped up on the edge of the building, his mind pondering. He hated it. He hated when there was time for his mind to wander, to think, to decide. To realize. In just a few short hours he would either be here forever or he would return to his own place in time. Did he really want to go back? Did he really want to return to a place in which his destiny was already set in stone? There wasn't anyone back home who truly cared about him, other wise they would have come looking. Staying here in 2065 meant having a new start. Seeing the world like others could never dream of. His logical side screamed at him that staying was right. But in the chaos of screams and shouts there was a whisper, barely audible. It begged for him to return, wanted him to beleive that he wouldn't be betrayed by the one person he would give anything for. He had been betrayed twice to many times. Evading death seemed to be a skill he obtained. But testing the saying "Third times a charm" was not something he wanted to experiment with. Perhaps this time his killer might succeed.
"Target spotted, confirmed. Ruin move in when your ready."
"Copy." Ruin said. The chattering got Benedikt's attention, stepping away from the edge of the beautifully lit city. "Let's move. Prophet, regroup with us once we engage." The man said.
Quietly opening the door to the inside, the hallway was decorated with stainless pure white tile. At the turn of every corner was some sort of white and golden pillar, the floor lined with blue velvet, making their footsteps even more quiet. "I'll take care of the security cameras, keep moving." Prophet said into their comms.
They rushed around the corner finding two G.I units standing gaurd. "I got him." Ruin said, outstretching his hand, connecting with the robot. Benedikt lowered his gun, doing the same. "When these things bust the door down, Spectre pop your smoke." Ruin ordered.
They controlled the units, moving them for the double doors that soon were taken off their hinges.
"Americans!" One of the soviets shouted, pointing as he took cover. There were five other robotic units standing gaurd around the room who soon opened fire on Ruin and Benedikt's allied units. "Change its coding if you can, make it work for you. Hurry!" Ruin said releasing his hand from the air, taking hold of his weapon.
"I'm trying!"
"Well try harder!" Spectre shouted.
The robot made a click sound, as he began fighting on his own without command.
"I did it." He was a bit suprised.
"I bet when you signed up to be a soldier you never in your wildest dreams imagined you would be speaking with gun weilding robots." Ruin chuckled, reloading.
Seconds later the other set of doors blasted open. Battery and the other specialists paving a way as they flanked the enemies from behind.
"Anyone have eyes on Reznov?" Outrider asked over comms.
"I see him!" Benedikt peaked from around pillar for cover. "He's taking the stairs, I'm going after him." He ran from around the corner, extending his hand. A swarm of fireflies appeared attacking multiple enemy soldiers.
"Romanov, wait!" Ruin yelled after him. "Spectre, follow him, and don't let him out of your sight." He ordered firmly.
"This job only ever required a cleaner anyways, not a handful of andriods." The assasin scoffed as he peirced his blue blade into a human soldier.
"Don't worry Spectre, the feeling is mutual." Seraph shot back over the comms.
Benedikt rushed the man to the roof. "Reznov!" He shouted, the man running away even on the roof. Benedikt tossed a tactical charge, causing the man to collapse to the ground, weakend.
Spectre didn't interfere yet, choosing to cloak himself in his active camo.
"Are you the current and active Perseus?" He picked the older man up by his collar and held him close to the edge.
"Comrade. Surely you must know that Perseus isn't-"
"Just one man, yes I know! Now stop waistinf my time and answer me." Benedikt became infuriated.
"Well, it appears I am. But, I will not be the last." The man smiled, his uniform seeming to have taken inspiration from how they used to be.
"But the king will take your place."
"Dimitri.." the older man didn't even have to see who it was before he realised who was about to take his life.
Spectre suprised the two as he stuck his blade into the man's side, killing him instantly. His active camo dissapeared, revealing the wet works assasin.
Benedikt tossed the body to the side, enraged. "You idiot! Your one of them aren't you?" He placed his finger on his ear peice, trying to alert the others.
"I already took care of that. They won't be hearing you or each other for a while." He stood there across from Benedikt, blade still humming.
"Did they hire you? How much did they offer you?"
"They never hired me. I was born into this faction. And well, the reason I'm even alive is partially because of you. Had you not played your part as the pawn who knows where I'd be."
"Do I know you?" He narrowed his eyes, the assassin feeling familar to him.
"No, you probably dont even remember me. But I know who you are. I know everything about you. Just about. Even the entire science experiments performed on your mind." He paused, a smile forming under his helmet. "And I guess she perfermed the greatest experiment on your mind of all."
Drawing his Hand Cannon pistol from his hip, Benedikt opened fire.
