Author's Headnote:

Do you remember, the twenty first night of September?

Love was changing the minds, of pretenders

While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing, in the key our souls were singing.

As we danced in the night,

Remember how the stars stole the night awaaaaaaaaaaaaay, oh, yeah

Ba-dee-ya, say do you remember?

Ba-dee-ya, dancing in September?

Ba-dee-ya, never was a cloudy daaaaaaaaaaaay!

Ba-du-da, ba-du-da, ba-du-da, ba-du

Ba-du-da, ba-du, ba-du-da, ba-du

Ba-du-da, ba-du, ba-du-da

My thoughts are with you, Holding hands with your heart to see you

Only blue talk and love,

Remember how we knew love was here to staaaaaaaaay.

Now December, found the love that we shared in September

Only blue talk and love, Remember the true love we share todaaaaaaaaaaaay

Ba-dee-ya, say do you remember?

Ba-dee-ya, dancing in September?

Ba-dee-ya, never was a cloudy daaaaaaaaaaaay!

There was a... Ba-dee-ya, (Dee-ya, Dee-ya), say do you remember?

Ba-dee-ya (Dee-ya, Dee-ya), dancing in September?

Ba-dee-ya (Dee-ya, Dee-ya), golden dreams were shiny daaaaaaaaaaaaays

The bell was ringing, oh, oh

Our souls were singin'

do you remember never a cloudy day? Yooooooow!

There was a... Ba-dee-ya, say do you remember?

Ba-dee-ya, dancing in September?

Ba-dee-ya, never was a cloudy daaaaaaaaaaaay!

And we'll say Ba-dee-ya, (Dee-ya, Dee-ya), say do you remember?

Ba-dee-ya (Dee-ya, Dee-ya), dancing in September?

Ba-dee-ya (Dee-ya, Dee-ya), golden dreams were shiny daaaaaaaaaaaaays

(Ba-dee-yas until the music stops)

That was the headnote, the entire thing. The entire lyric's of Earth Wind and Fire's September, which they own and I do not. Anyways, here's the segments.

RWBY FoB: Just for Fun: The Twenty First Night

Segment 5, Incidental Music

It was 7 PM, Ruby was asleep on her bed, but than she woke up... only hear to pipe organs... specifically J.S. Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. How Ruby manages to know the name is beyond her. But then she sees Yang playing the song on her scroll. Ruby looks at her sister with utmost annoyance.

"Yang!" Ruby yelled.

"What?" Her sister asked, playing dumb.

"Why are you playing the vampire pipe organ?"

"Because I felt like I want to give your awakening a kick!"

"Well stop that! You know I don't like my current state of being!"

"Come on, don't be a buzzkill."

Ruby had gotten out of the bed, she then sighed.

"Have you seen Blake?" Ruby asked.

"She'll be back in a couple minutes." Yang stated.

"That's good, I'm feeling thirsty."

And then silence...

"I don't have a soundtrack for that." Yang commented.

"That's good, now I'll just wait for Blake to come back." Ruby said, in a patient tone.

Five minutes later, Blake had arrived in which Ruby heard the door and proceeded to hug her. Blake then lowered her neck in which Ruby proceeds to bite and then...

Yang decided to play Careless Whisper. In which Ruby stopped her feeding just to talk to Yang.

"Can you not?" Ruby asked.

"Come on, I've always wanted an excuse to play that!" Yang defended herself.

"Well play it when you're with Sun!"

"It's more fun to plague your life with incidental music."

Ruby groaned out of annoyance. Blake was also not pleased with Yang's choice of behavior.

And that's when Weiss walked in, and Yang decides to play in the hall of the mountain king. Ruby and Blake's eyes widened and Yang doesn't have much of a cheerful look on her anymore.

"Yang, why are you playing that?" Ruby asked in a concerned tone.

"If I, were you, I'd hide." Blake suggested.

"Ruby Rose! Do you have any idea how much trouble you put me through!?" Weiss started to rant.

"People were asking where you are. So... when Blake decided to leave it to me, I had to come up with various nonsensical stories about your whereabouts, and by god you have hundreds of things to explain. I told Ren you were at the garden, in which Neptune, who came back from the garden said that you weren't there, and I said that she went to the forge then, and then Nora, who came back from the forge said that she didn't see you, so I had to say that you stopped to grab something to eat at the cafeteria, in which Velvet said that she didn't see you either, so I added on and said you were at the science fiction convention, in which Jaune said that you didn't like sci-fi, so I added that she was there with Yang. And then Yang showed up and played elevator music and said that the convention isn't until January. So, then I said she went to the place where the convention would be. And then a random member of the White Fang said that he didn't see her there, in which we all then ganged up on. And then Blake showed up saying that she was studying, and everyone left. So, I am angry that I had to come up with a big bundle of lies instead of saying that she was doing something incredibly vague. It doesn't help that Yang didn't back me up!" Weiss ranted.

"Calm down there, you're going to leave a wall of text!" Yang yelled.

"What are you talking about? This is real life, not some work of fiction, in which even then. We'd most likely be a web-animated series." Weiss stated.

"2-D or 3-D?" Yang asked.

"3D, obviously. My dimensions are too well and perfect to be a flat drawing."

"What if the animator is poorly skilled or the budget is incredibly bad."

"It's actually cheaper to do 3D animation now than 2D animation. And even then, no speech bubbles or visible words on those. Except for signs and labels and stuff."

"What about subtitles?"

"Oh ya, I forgot about subtitles."

WOMP WOMP WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMP

"Yang, stop plaguing our lives with incidental music!" Weiss complained.

"You'll get used to it." Ruby stated.

"Oh, and I'm not done with you!"

Segment 6, Bird's Eye View

It was around 10 PM, Ruby was outright curious, so she stepped outside the courtyard and changed into her bird mode... she wonders what people do at night. So, she flies around and checks up on the dorms, starting with her own...

She sees her sister preparing to undress and get changed for bed-time... although this quickly makes Ruby intrigued, and then Yang shows up and heads to the bathroom to do the same. Of course Ruby then slips but flaps back up and accidentally touches the window, which causes the attention of Weiss.

"You're disgusting! You know that, Ruby!" Weiss retorted.

Ruby then flapped up and checked JNPR's window. Nora appears to be building a tower of soda cans from around the dorm, and Ren appears to be cleaning up Nora's mess in which she adds to. Pyrrha and Jaune are nowhere to be seen. Well, this seems like a regular scenario for those two. Then Ruby flapped up and flew elsewhere to see Jaune and Pyrrha training with each other. Ruby would make a noise, but she doesn't want to be on the receiving end of Pyrrha's javelin while in this form. So, Ruby flies away to check up on CRDL, whatever they might be doing.

CRDL is not at their dorm. Well, that's a letdown. So, Ruby figures she can just check up on CVFY.

What CVFY are doing is quite interesting... Fox is sleeping, Coco is not in the dorm, and Yatsu and Velvet are talking.

"So... long day, huh?"

"Yep."

"Classes were a bore."

"Tell me about it, I had to take 2 history classes back-to-back."

"Sorry to hear that Velv."

"It's alright. Although I think something was wrong with Ruby."

"What do ya mean?"

"Like... she was hiding something."

"I think she's just stressed or something."

"That's odd, normally I see her make doodles in class. Not just... well... she looks like she's feeling the stress of the entire classroom."

Ruby cawed out of reflex and proceeded to fly away. She's going to find another dorm to snoop on. Ruby has quite a thrill for doing this, may as well check up on the next dorm.

And then Ruby see's one of the guest dorms, the one for team ABRN. Ruby did see them in class, but never talked to them. They're all asleep... and Coco is there too, sleeping in one of the beds alongside the girl with the green hair. Well, that explains where Coco is... but why she's not in her own dorm is beyond Ruby. Well, some mysteries will be left unsolved.

May as well check the other guest dorms... there she sees SSSN's, having what seems to be a small party. Ruby watches with interest, but then grows bored. She then checks on another dorm.

And finally she sees CMSN's dorm. She sees nothing so far... other than a White board with some doodles on it, and no one being inside the dorm. Although, she did spot them heading somewhere... so... Ruby followed. Eventually leading onto a far-side of Vale... but Ruby could not snoop around now, because by the time she was able to reach them, the sun started to rise, and Ruby does not want to be turned to ash quite just yet.

When Ruby returns to the dorm, she barely made it with 28% of her aura. And a cooked, brown, skin tone.

"Did anyone make Chicken?" Yang said, waking up...

"No! I just got sunburnt!" Ruby retorted.

Ruby can hear her sister gagging. "Ruby, what were doing up all night!?" Yang asked.

"She was snooping at people's windows." Weiss retorted.

"I was just curious what you guys do while I wasn't there." Ruby defended herself.

"Ya ya, and now you're harvestfest dinner. Go to bed and wait for the burns to heal."

"Oookay... wait, doesn't drinking blood heal me?"

"NO! You're not drinking MY blood!"

"Alright, I'll go see if I have some bloodpacks in the fridge."

Segment 7, Being Alive

It was 12:00 PM, in the Beacon Corridor Hall... Ruby was minding her business, heading to class. Well, until she bumped into Penny, who was also heading into class. The two of them laughed awkwardly.

"Hey... Penny." Ruby said awkwardly.

"Hey Ruby..." Penny said awkwardly.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm doing fine... heading to class, because I am not a robot."

"As am I... heading to class... because I am a living person, who is not dead."

"I too am a human person with flesh and organs."

"Organs that pump blood and are working."

"Yes... and not metal robot parts."

"Or a parasitic need for blood."

"What?"

"What?"

"But ya... great to see a fellow living and organic human person with organs, nerves, and bones." Penny stated.

"Yep, quite indeed." Ruby replied.

"It's a wonderful day to be alive!" Pyrrha said, strolling the halls.

Cinder meanwhile, hearing this conversation, just left the most uncomfortable look in her face. A huge cringed up look in her face, as if she's experienced an alternate version of her memory or a memory of her past that she is not comfortable with and can't believe she actually did.

"Gerrr..." Cinder uttered uncomfortably. "That conversation made me uncomfortable for some reason."

Ruby, Penny, and Pyrrha then all stare at Cinder menacingly, all three of which look like she just kicked a kitten.
