13: The New Era!

Here Kagome was... sitting in the gardens with a slightly annoyed face. It didn't matter where she went in the castle anymore, considering Tōga and Izayoi never gave her a moment of peace these days. Blowing up her bangs as she heard giggling while the two walked was enough to push her over the edge until feeling a pat to a shoulder, along with, "Mate? What seems to be bothering you?" Peering up at Sesshomaru, Kagome chuckled as he helped her to gracefully stand.

Wearing a sleeveless fine silk sky blue kimono with the customary crescent moon in dark blue faded to white, along with the Angel's royal crest in the same styling, and a storm of cherry blossoms falling from the two patterns to scatter across the front in dark blue and white; Kagome sighed and took his hand and stood up before grouching, "Oh, it's nothing. It just seems as if they are following me everywhere on purpose. You done with teaching Inuyasha through action?"

That made him frown before laughing softly, "I'll have a talk with father. As for Inuyasha, yes. I was actually amazed that he was learning every subject while in the midst of fighting with his sword." Rin was now fully matured and had Infinity placed on her as well when she walked up while releasing a heavy groan, "Grandfather is so gross with her. Even if I used to be a mortal myself, I no longer think in the way they do in the slightest... so it's kind of gross to see them together."

Sesshomaru chuckled at his beautiful daughter that released a heavy snort before continuing, "Honestly, he makes me hang out with her. Oh, father, I thought that you would want to know this; but everytime grandfather makes me hang out with both of them, he corrects me and attempts to make me call Izayoi my mother!" Sesshomaru wasn't the one that she needed to worry about... it was her mother, considering the fact that her face now held a satanic expression.

Releasing his mate's hand the moment she stormed off, he watched as she arrived at her destination and witnessed her hand shoot out to tightly grasp Tōga's pointed ear before dragging him off. Coming to a stop far away from the new lady of the west, the angelic maiden scowled deeply, "What in the HELL, you've been trying to make my daughter address Izayoi as her MOTHER!? She isn't human anymore, she's a daiyokai! So I don't want to hear of this EVER again, am I CLEAR!?"

InuTaisho peered at how the angelic maiden was dressed by eyeing her up and down almost tauntingly, only for Kagome to slap him upside his head furiously... but ended up bowing her apology before speaking in an almost mocking tone, "Forgive my actions... FATHER." That single word had Tōga's eye twitching furiously due to the fact that she had once been his more favorable mate, making him grasp her wrist tightly before barking and growling out, "Do NOT call me that Kagome!"

Gaining a dry facial expression towards the ruler of the west, the angel then rolled her eyes at him, "What shall I address you as then? Idiot, moron, ass, or dick? I leave the choice up to you." He could NOT believe the MOUTH on this angel! Even if Izayoi now held the title of the lady of west; all of his guards, servants, maids, and aids still addressed her with the title. He has even heard her telling them to stop calling her so, but they refuse that order due to a mortal holding the title.

It had taken a LONG time for him to give Izayoi the title. He knew that he had royally screwed up when it came to her. He had broken his promise to love her forever without fail, even though she had loved him unconditionally, he had merely used her to break Freedom. It had to feel like a mighty slap across the face to her, that he was sure of. She had no choice to go through her rebirth, but the moment she had vanished... he went straight back to Izayoi without a second thought.

Holding his arm out to her and sighing softly, Kagome blinked rapidly until he spoke unnaturally soft, "Take a walk with me, Kagome..." The angel then shook her head as she spoke, "I do appreciate the offer, but I am going to take a walk with my mate and daughter." Tōga's head then lowered as his tone became even softer, "Kagome... please..." Sighing, she then let her mate know in an annoyed tone of voice and took the ruler of the west's arm as she spoke softly, "As you wish..."

She had been feeling guilty over everything that she had done to him, so she was prepared to actually tell him the truth. Once she gained the okay from her mate, the two began to walk silently. Smiles from either party were nowhere to be found and at this point, it almost seemed impossible. She couldn't even look him in the eye, but he was no better and could not look her in the eye, nor could he even look in her general direction due to how fascinating the ground appeared.

Rin glanced over at her mother with a frown before speaking softly, "Father? Why does mother look as if she is in so much pain as of now...?" That was difficult to explain to his daughter, so he merely said it as it was, "She is in pain due to what she did to him, but the fact that she knew what was going to happen and the fact that he didn't even give a damn that she was doing it... it made it somewhat easier for her to accept. It doesn't mean that it's never going to affect her though."

Releasing a shaky breath, Kagome came to a slow stop beneath a cherry blossom tree before shakily speaking, "Tōga... you weren't the only one to do it..." This had him glancing towards her with widened eyes as tears filled her eyes to make it appear as if the sky was now crying as he shakily spoke, "W-What...?" The angel slowly dropped her hands from his arm, only for the backs of her hands to cover her eyes, "I have felt so much guilt for too long! I wanted for you to choose me!"

Shock was all he felt, considering the fact that he hadn't even cared enough to check through their link to make sure that she wasn't going behind his back and doing anything indecent. Kagome leaned forward and grasped the front of his kimono before pressing her face to his chest to cry out, "I selfishly wanted your love all to myself! So I had hoped that each time that I got with Sesshomaru before my rebirth, that you would appear to scold me! I wanted you to show me you cared!"

Kagome's sky was now shedding tears of so much pain and regret as he began to sadly chuckle in a miserable tone, "At least you did show up to scold me... while I did absolutely nothing and was oblivious to what you were even doing in the first place. You say that you feel shame and regret, but I should be the one crying and begging for your forgiveness..." Shaking her head as she wept, Kagome could only continue to sob out, "I AM A HORRIBLE PERSON FOR MY TRANSGRESSIONS!"

"All of your transgressions are probably not as great as mine," he spoke out softly, but honestly. Shooting her head to look up at him angrily, she then slammed weak fists against his chest, "YOU THINK I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!? OF COURSE I KNEW HOW OFTEN YOU WERE GOING BEHIND MY BACK! IT HURT SO MUCH THAT I FELT AS IF I HAD TO GET YOU BACK FOR WHAT YOU WERE DOING TO ME! IT WAS SO UNFAIR TO ME! YOU PROMISED THAT YOU WOULD LOVE ME FOREVER!"

The angel's ranting fest was not done yet as she pressed her face even tighter against Tōga's chest, "NO MATTER WHAT I DID TO TRY TO GAIN YOUR ATTENTION, YOU NEVER SHOWED UP AND NOT ONCE DID I FEEL ANY RAGE OR JEALOUSY EMITTING THROUGH OUR MATING MARK TO EVEN ATTEMPT GAINING ANY OF MY ATTENTION TO STOP BEING SO FOOLISH, WHILE YOU MERELY IGNORED THOSE FEELINGS FROM ME! WHY!? WHY WAS I NEVER GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU!?"

Turning her head questioningly, Rin had to ask her father, "Father, from the way mother is holding grandfather... it looks extremely, uh, odd." Sesshomaru's eyes shimmered with a deep sadness at that point as he gave his daughter the answer she seeked, "Well, that's a simple answer. It would be due to the fact that your mother was first mated to your grandfather and not myself. He betrayed her so often that she started believed that he would notice her if we began doing the same..."

Frowning at how miserable her mother appeared, she then glanced towards her father once he spoke again, "The longer we continued to do indecent things with one another and the longer he didn't notice, or even bother to care checking, the more panicked she became. We even had intercourse WHILE he was at the castle... yet he didn't even care to check his mating link one single bit. That's when she began to turn to me for everything and not your grandfather."

Sighing gently and clutching his fists lightly, he then continued, "The fact of the matter is... your mother still deeply loves him very much. One could see why too... he's open to everything, he's playful, he's fun, and when he's around your mother... it appears as if he's a completely different person than when he's around Izayoi. With Izayoi, he appears to be the complete opposite of how he acts around your mother. He's such an idiot and wants more than he already has."

Rin then glanced back towards her mother with a deep frown, "Hey... father...?" Sesshomaru then tilted his head towards his daughter while answering, "Yes?" The long raven haired daiyokai then frowned, "I know that I once said that you and mommy would look perfect together... but seeing this... it makes me think twice. She wouldn't be clinging to him and crying against him the way she currently is if she didn't love him. If he wasn't stupid... THEY would look perfect together..."

This made Sesshomaru peer at his mate and father before frowning. However, that frown quickly turned into chuckles, "Yes, well, asking for MY father to not be an idiot would be a rather LARGE and TEDIOUS goal for him to even accomplish in the first place... but, when it comes to your mother, he becomes weak willed. That's why you see him holding her the way he currently is. Simply put, he loves her deeply and will never be able to let that love go, but he would have to let Izayoi go."

Hearing her hum, Sesshomaru then tilted his head towards her, "Rin?" Rin frowned deeply as she spoke softly, "What if he can't just let Izayoi go...?" Sesshomaru then peered down, "Then you would have parents that only hold a one sided love. Hence, I love your mother with all of my heart... but with her, I don't think that she will ever be able to turn away from my father." Well now bucco, you sound pretty damn sure of that little statement made; which only had Rin rolling her eyes.

In the many centuries to follow, Kagome turned away from Tōga and kept her focus COMPLETELY on Sesshomaru. She had said what need to be said to him and she now felt much better now that he was actually aware of what had happened. It didn't erase the sins of the past, but it helped her live with them much better than she had used to. With a happy smile, the angel tugged her mate outside while giggling happily, "Come on mate! Let's go outside for a bit!"

The only thing that really bothered her about her mate was how little he showed his emotions... such as how little he actually smiled or laughed in comparison to his father, who was always caught smiling and laughing brightly. The father and son couldn't be anymore different with their emotions. The two couldn't be anymore different with how they acted. Tōga had quickly grown out of his monotone stage and came out of his shell, while Sesshomaru... yeah, not so much.

Demons of the west STILL hated Izayoi with every fiber of their being due to her mortal nature, but they were forced to show her respect... to her face that is... while their lord was out and about with her glued to his arm. If their lord was not around, she was bad mouthed, harassed, and made fun of as frequently as they possibly could. With the times now changing, the race of demons now hid any adorable attributes unless they were at home and not having guests over.

By this day and age, they figured it would be best to become a myth. During the feudal era, they began erasing their existence as a whole due to the mortal race now outnumbering their own. Against dog demons... mortals were little to no threat at all. With it now being in the late nineteen-thousands and about to hit the two-thousands; the race of dog demons, plus an angel and an immortal mortal were now on an EXTREMELY fine line of needing to move away from the castle.

With them needing to move away by the latest of the two-thousands to begin their lives elsewhere was a rather stressful thought to even comprehend. This castle had been their home for so long that all were nervous to just up and leave to go elsewhere. However, this castle was being made into a historical landmark by Tōga, himself; as much as it pained him to make his home a tourist attraction, it had to be done to keep his race, the angel, and mortal safe from all danger.

With Tōga currently out working in multiple different rapidly growing TOWNS, it was hell for Izayoi. Kagome heard all of the bad mouthing and slowly dropped her mate's hand before smiling brightly, "Oh, I forgot something! Be right back!" Nodding his head blandly, Kagome rushed back inside of the castle in one of the multiple dresses that she had forgotten that she had even packed. When she had first noticed them, she could only sweat drop and think, 'Oh whoops... my bad.'

The collared white thigh-high sleeveless dress holding an ankle long open lace skirting around her hips flowed beautifully as she ran inside of the castle completely barefoot. She actually HAD forgotten something in the form of a picnic, and once she grabbed it and began walking back with her sparkling angel wings and, with Sesshomaru's help, twin split tails behind her that also sparkled; she came to a stop in front of all of the harrassing guards before releasing a heavy sigh.

Scowling, Kagome then shook her scolding finger at the guards while speaking in their tongue, "NOW THAT'S ENOUGH! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ONE MORE BAD WORD COMING FROM YOUR MOUTHS, AM I CLEAR!?" All of the guards instantly stiffened up at her scowl and tone of voice before bowing deeply and replying in their native tongue, "Y-YES MY LADY! FORGIVE US!" Groaning that she was STILL being addressed as the lady of the west, she then passed by them.

Exiting the castle and sighing, all she could hear was a monotone chuckle coming from her mate before Rin darted up and whacked the back of his head, "DAD, USE YOUR EMOTIONS! SHEESH, YOU'VE BEEN MATED TO MOM FOR HOW LONG NOW AND YOU CAN'T EVEN MAKE A REAL LAUGH!?" Well, it WAS now that era where the titles of "mother" and "father" were no longer needed, so she acted accordingly. Scowling at his pup, oh... she scowled right back. The rebellious stage, yay!

She was already aware that Tōga already had his doctor's certificate... in other words... she had called it. He was officially now one of those hot doctors and a surgeon, but since they were going to be moving soon, he was going to be going back to school due to his youthful appearance. Hell, the man looked no older than twenty, but could pass as a freshman if he wanted and just explain that he matured quite quickly thanks to good genetics... and batting his eyelashes.

Tōga had been shocked about how different people spoke in this era to the point that he blurted out, "THE HELL!? YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING WITH ME!" To say the least, he got it down pretty quick. Since Izayoi had NO desire to go to school, she would be signing them all up as their adopted mother. In all honesty, she just wanted to go back to school with her friends... Ayumi, Eri, and Yuka. However, she wasn't so sure that her mate, nor Tōga would be ready to see guys hitting on her.

Inuyasha hadn't wanted to go to school until his mother pinched his cheek so hard that it left a noticeable welt. With how pretty Tōga, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha were... yeah, Hojo would no longer be mister popular. Before they even knew what happened it was time to move, but of course... could Tōga live anywhere SMALL!? NO! He picked out a mansion and everyone, plus Kirara, a few maids, guards, and servants moved in. With that, Tōga gave the funds needed to buy vehicles.

When she had lived in these times, Kagome had driven a sports motorcycle. Once they all got licenses, Kagome purchased her black sports bike that held custom painted white angel wings studded with diamonds. With judgement day arriving so soon for the five going to school, Kagome dressed in a pair of diamonds skinny jeans, diamond studded knee-high boots, and a dark blue fitted t-shirt that held sparkly white crescent moon and angelic royal crests on the back.

Brushing her hair and eating, she then brushed her teeth and placed her touchscreen cell phone that held a black case with white angel wings on the back in her backpack before placing it over her shoulders and turning her motorcycle on. Tch, she didn't need a helmet in the slightest. Everyone was following the angel's lead due to knowing where she was going, including a handpicked guard to take up the role as their adoptive father and Izayoi to fully enroll them in school.

With tails, wings, and facial markings hidden... including their royal crests... they appeared no different than mortals. Noticing a red light, Kagome slowed to a stop as her sparkling sky blue orbs almost nervously darted about. Beside her, a car rolled its window down for a man she knew quite well to speak, "Man, what a pretty motorcycle! I mean, you are just as pretty! We should go on a date sometime!" Feeling Sesshomaru's rage, Kagome whispered, "Mate, calm down..."

Everyone had already heard about the new people coming to school, so once they noticed an unfamiliar motorcycle, along with other expensive cars, all parked and Kagome kicked her stand up before eagerly walking forward. Everyone watched as this beautiful "family" began to walk up the stairs to the school, only for Sesshomaru to blandly wrap his arm around her shoulder. This was just getting tiresome... but what could she do about it? Shrug his arm off of her?

Reaching a single hand up, the hidden angel then pushed her mate's arm off of her and sighed heavily once her orbs shifted towards a brightly smiling Tōga before shouting, "Tōga!" Turning towards her and blinking innocently, he then chuckled and turned around as she jumped on his back to whisper, "Your son's starting to piss me off with his zero emotions." Lifting a dainty silver brow and barking a laugh, he then pinched her thigh, "YOU chose him, my dear, not me."

Resting her chin on his broad shoulder, the hidden angelic lass then snorted a lack of enthusiasm, "I'm starting to judge my own choice of character." This had Tōga snickering playfully as Kagome pulled his skin tight black v-neck t-shirt down so that all of the girls would stop staring at his body, "Oh... is someone jealous?" Huffing, the lass being carried then wrapped her arms around his neck to whisper, "I always will be..." Tōga's eyes then softened, "I guess that makes two of us..."

Once at the top, Kagome frowned and spoke one last thing before jumping down, "You... jealous... as your mortal woman stands in as our mother... right... I'm sure you are." Losing her warmth, he watched her saddened orbs as she passed by him, only for him to frown slightly. He continued to question his choice until they were all in the office and handed their schedules before explained, "Rin, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha will all have the same classes." Two names left out.

Everyone began to blink rapidly until the headmaster chuckled and motioned to Kagome and Tōga, "Tōga and Kagome, you two have the same schedules. Thank you for choosing our school to enroll in! I am sure with how well mannered you five are, you will make plenty of friends! Now, I have alerted your teachers, so head to class!" Everyone nodded and bowed, "Yes sir." The headmaster was baffled at how well mannered these five actually were. It was astonishing to say the least.

Heading to class, Tōga peered over to see her dry expression and snickered, "What's that look for?" Releasing a heavy and dreaded sigh, Kagome then explained, "Oh sheesh... you are in the SAME classes that I was initially in the first time. Meaning, my old best friends are in here... along with the guy that liked me." This made Tōga's brow twitch slightly before wrapping his arm around her shoulder and smiling brightly, "Ah, don't you worry a single bit!"

Absentmindedly nodding her head as they made it to the door, the two entered and the teacher smiled brightly at the two, "Ah! You two must be my newest students! Tōga and Kagome, correct? You are brother and sister if I am not mistaken..." Seeing this teacher's dumbfounded face over the way he was currently holding the pretty little angel, he then gave a dashing smirk, "Ah, yes, but we are merely adopted siblings. Not blood. It is a pleasure to be in your class."

The teacher merely nodded and smiled, "Why don't the two of you formally introduce yourself to your classmates and tell us something about yourselves?" Tōga stepped forward and once his piercing golden gaze hit everyone, all of the girls basically squealed, making Kagome internally sweat drop... called it. Clearing his throat, the former leader of the west spoke out, "As you have heard, my name is Tōga and one day, I aspire to become a doctor."

Kagome internally rolled her eyes as she thought to herself, 'ASS, you already ARE a doctor!' - "Miss?" The teacher spoke, causing her to snap out of it and bow lightly so that her sky blue orbs enchanted all of the boys, "My name... is Kagome and one day I wish to become a nurse or doctor as well. That all depends on my strength and willpower though!" Tōga then internally sweatdropped, 'Don't even play coy... I already know that you have your doctors license as well...'

Clapping his hands lightly, the teacher then motioned the two "siblings" to their desks that were right beside one another. Taking their seats and pulling out a notebook and pencil the teacher spoke out, "Alright class, today we are going to be learning the history of the ruler of the west from the feudal era, InuTaisho!" This made both Kagome and Tōga purse their lips tightly before he wrote down to show to the angel, 'Let's see how much of an evil ruler they make me out to be!'

The history teacher folded his arms behind his back, "It is said in legend that lord InuTaisho was a ruler filled with greed and power. He could never choose a single woman to love, so he tried to love two at once. It is said that the one he initially loved first was an angel. Now, class, this is all just theory so do keep that in mind. When the second woman came into his life, it is said that lord InuTaisho ripped the heart out of the angel and replaced his own with the angel's heart."

"Now, hm... Tōga, why would you believe that he supposedly did such an action of cruelty?" The teacher questioned curiously. Standing, Tōga hummed for a moment before speaking, "From what you have said so far, it is my belief that it wasn't an act filled with malicious intent. I believe... that he merely wanted her heart all for himself so that he could keep her the closest. The second woman is not brought up as much as this angel and that's why I hold this belief."

Taking his seat after the teacher nodded, he then called on the one person that should have been left out of this entirely, "Hm... Kagome, what do you have to think about this?" Standing up with cold orbs, she then spoke, "As you said... he was greedy. By taking the angel's heart, maybe he did want her close, but then again... he could have merely been using her heart for his own benefit. Such as eternal youth. Maybe it was even possible for her to make others immortal as well."

This explanation fascinated the teacher and he motioned for her to continue, which she did, "Suppose this angel was still around and was capable of using magic? What if he merely kept her alive, yet close to him, just to make his second lover immortal as well? Once she had served her purpose to the man she loved with all of her heart, he greedily ripped that heart from her chest to use as his own due to the angel's love for him no longer having a use, a purpose, or a value."

From the way she spoke, it almost sounded as if she had been there personally to live this tale, so the teacher let her keep talking, "In all honesty, this sounds more like the lessons of the misfortune and misery of the angel... lord InuTaisho seems to actually play a very small part other than ripping this said angel's heart out of her chest. You should really work on your history lessons, for I have extensively researched about lord InuTaisho... the same goes for my brother."

The teacher then took a seat at his desk, "Well my two new students seem to be bright and very knowledgeable. Very well, you two come on down and do the lecture for me then." Tōga internally groaned as he stood and followed his "sister" to the front of the room before folding his arms and speaking, "All documents pertaining to lord InuTaisho always seem to be written in riddles, almost as if someone was intentionally trying to mislead you of his time of rule."

Kagome then nodded, "We managed to decipher all of the ORIGINAL documentation that is now held as the western castle that he once lived at." - 'Only because I was the one to come up with such ridiculous stories to begin with...' - "While reading the original documentations, we decoded power as a means for keeping his people safe from all harm." Tōga then nodded and followed, "The term "greedy" was only used to show that he wished for all to live in peace as one."

Nibbling her bottom lip, the angel that was even spoken of in the story then spoke, "Now, for the angel. Maybe she was real, or maybe it was just a term to show her beauty and kindness. However, once we read lord InuTaisho's original documents, he spoke of her many times. In his words, "Her wings caught my gaze rather quickly. Those pure white angel wings sparkled as brilliantly as her long moonless night locks and her eyes that had stolen the sky."..."

'OH FOR FUCKS SAKE, SHE READ MY PERSONAL JOURNALS!?' Tōga roared internally before speaking, "His PERSONAL journal was rather interesting to read, if I say so myself. "The heart that this angel holds is nothing short of beautiful, as is her love for one as lowly as myself. She gives that heart away to all that might need it... and I shall not lie, I have depended on that heart as far as the skies might stretch. Her smile that never fails to mend a broken heart is worth everything."..."

The teacher then shot up with a dumbfounded expression, "You two were actually given the privilege of READING lord InuTaisho's personal journal!?" The both of them nodded their head, "Yes, we know the caretaker of his journal on a personal level. So we were given the access to read it. However..." Tōga then smiled softly as he continued on, "He spoke mostly of his vast and undying love for her... and not once spoke of her as if she were merely some tool to be used..."
