Authors Notes
Before you start reading I feel like I should explain a few things. This is my first fanfiction ever so criticism both positive and negative is welcome as I hope to improve my writing skills.
Secondly, in case anyone is confused, the first scene takes place in a sort of dream state like when Naruto and Sasuke first met Hagoromo.
Third, I will be giving Batman chakra in the story. I wanted to explore what Batman would do if he got chakra. I'm writing this as if Batman didn't have chakra before coming to the Naruto world because he didn't (divine tree and all), so he gets his chakra directly from the Sage of Six paths through ninshu.
Lastly, I do not own Batman or Naruto (cause if I did I definitely wouldn't be writing this).
Please enjoy
Chapter 1
"How interesting," a voice called out. It was a rather elderly voice that gave off the impression of a wise old man who has lived many years and had seen many things.
The voice spoke again, "You are not from this world but you are not like my mother. You have no chakra either. I fear a man such as yourself may not survive in this world without it. Very well. As much as I hate to see chakra used for such purposes I also do not wish for a man like you to meet a tragic fate, so I shall bestow some upon you." The man sounded both intrigued, and worried, as well as resigned. "Though you likely will not remember this I shall introduce myself. My name is Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, also known as the Sage of Six Paths, and the founder of Ninshu. Good luck otherworlder, you very well may need it."
He woke up to the sound of leaves rustling. His whole body was in pain and his head was pounding as if it had a heartbeat of its own. Concussion? Probably. Not his first and probably wouldn't be his last.
He quickly got himself together. Who was he? Bruce Wayne, also known as The Batman.
Where was he? He looked around. A forest, and a dense one at that. Every few meters there was a tall tree with a mass of leaves making it hard to see the sky. That didn't fit, last he remembered he was investigating at S.T.A.R. Labs for the Flash.
A scientist there had gone missing while working on a device to allow communication between alternate dimensions. Flash needed Batman's skills as a detective to find out what happened and promised to cover for him in Gotham while he figured it out.
Why the caped crusader wasn't in Central City and instead in a dense forest is the next question he asked himself.
The security cameras in S.T.A.R. Labs showed that while the scientist was working on his device there was a sudden bright light and he was gone.
Batman then investigated the scientist's lab hoping to find more clues only to find the device the scientist was working on was still on and functioning. Batman remembered cursing silently to himself about S.T.A.R. Labs' safety protocols, and reaching to turn off the device only to have himself blinded by a sudden flash of light. What followed after the flash of light was the feeling of him falling, a hard impact to his head, and then nothing as he lost consciousness.
Putting that all together the Dark Knight guessed the same thing that happened to the scientist happened to him, and that the device had somehow transported him elsewhere.
Batman looked over at the small monitor on his wrist and tapped it a few times to check his GPS location only to find that he had no connection.
Impossible. His wrist monitor was connected directly to Wayne Enterprises satellites all over the world, so either his signal was being blocked, or… he's not where he should be.
A slight panic came up at the idea, but he pushed it away just as fast as it came. This is hardly the craziest thing that's happened to him.
He quickly analyzed his own condition. Mild concussion, probably a good amount of bruising from the amount of pain he's in but nothing seems to be bleeding or broken.
His whole body feels weird, like there's a heart in his stomach pumping "something" all over his body. It doesn't seem to be harmful so he'll leave it for later, he has more urgent things to deal with.
His suit seemed in one piece, despite taking the biggest beating from the fall, and all his equipment was on him, batarangs, grapple hook gun, the emergency food bars, and everything else he usually keeps on himself.
He got up and quickly calculated how long he's been unconscious. From the few snapped branches on the trees above him, to his injuries, he deduced he had fallen a fair distance and hit the ground in a proper falling position, distributing the force of the fall more evenly on his body. Also taking into account that his suit took some of the blow and that it's still in one piece, he should have only hit the ground hard enough to knock him out for a few hours at most.
He took acetaminophen for his concussion, took out his grappling hook gun and shot it at the tallest tree. The first thing he needs to do is find out where he is and find some form of civilization.
Batman looked around. Nothing but dense forest for miles, with mountains lining the horizon.
Batman felt… something. He couldn't see it or hear it, but he somehow just knew. It gave off the same feeling as the "something" coursing through his body, and having no better option he moved towards it, with any luck it could be a person who could point him towards some kind of civilization.
As he moved he analyzed his surroundings more. It was a habit that he had drilled into himself through training. He analyzed the trees, the average height of them, thickness, how many branches, could they be used as cover if he needed it? They could. He looked for escape routes in case he needed them. He's in unfamiliar territory and he doesn't know whether the residents will be friend or foe. He prepared for the latter of course. He always did. Being cautious had saved his life before and probably would save his life many times in the future.
Eventually he found what he was looking for. The feeling was coming from above him in one of the trees. Not a very good sign.
From where Batman was he could tell the feeling was coming from an average sized male watching a dirt road wearing dark clothing in the trees currently facing away from Batman. The man also had a pouch on his right thigh made of a cut proof material suggesting that he could be holding weapons in it.
Batman narrowed his eyes. He needs to stay on guard.
"Do you-" Batman called out. But he cut himself off as the man threw something that missed the Dark Knights head by an inch. He looked back and saw it was a knife, a kunai to be exact. His eyes narrowed further.
The Caped Crusader looked back at the man who was now staring at him warily with a hint of confusion, a look Bruce had seen many times before when he first started out as Batman.
Now that Batman could see the man he noticed the man wore a headband with a metal plate that had markings of four squiggly lines carved into it.
Batman then noticed the man mutter to himself while reaching for the pouch on his thigh.
What he heard wasn't english but it was another language Batman knew well. Japanese. And what he heard erased all hopes Bruce had for a peaceful conversation.
"Damnit. A witness."
