Author's Notes
Welcome to chapter 2. Once again I'd like to explain a few things. I do not have any predetermined update schedule for this story, it's something I write in my free time whenever I feel like writing so chapter uploads could be anywhere from a couple days apart to months apart.
Secondly, I am writing the characters and their actions based entirely on how I think they would act in certain situations based on what I know about them so there will probably be certain moments where they behave different from how you expect them to act, and if that's the case I apologize. Batman himself will probably have the most of these issues due to the many different versions of Batman throughout the movies, TV shows, comics, etc.
Lastly I wanted to ask my readers what their thoughts on Batman killing in the story. I personally am having a difficult time deciding. On one hand, the world of Naruto is very different from Batman's world, there aren't simple criminals who need to be arrested and brought to justice, shinobi are soldiers who fight and die on battlefields for their village and their goals so Batman killing in the Naruto world wouldn't be quite the same as him killing in his own world. On the other hand, Batman's no killing rule is a big part of his character and it isn't like there aren't alternatives to killing in the Naruto world, such as sealing. Let me know what you guys think on the matter.
Now I don't know if I need to say this every chapter (or at all) but, I do not own Batman or Naruto.
Please enjoy
Chapter 2
Tadao Isa is a missing-nin from Kirigakure.
Tadao had always been greedy. He would choose his missions based on how much the reward was and often stole and cheated people out of money, in fact one of his favorite pastimes was using his ninja skills on unsuspecting citizens to pickpocket, street hustle, and everything else you can think of. Whatever got him the most money he'd do it, even if it meant leaving his village behind.
Konoha always had more escort missions due to their reputation being nicer than most other ninja villages, which oftentimes made the roads to the village busy with defenseless people with deep pockets, prime targets for Tadao. While staying so close to Konoha did come with an obvious risk it also kept away most hunter-nin that would be after him, but he never forgot to stay cautious at all times, even if it did make him a bit jumpy.
The week hadn't been going too well for him. There had been a lot of ninja going in and out of the village recently, leaving very little opportunities for him to rob anyone. Heck, just a few days ago he nearly had a heart attack when some ninja with grey hair seemed to notice him only to then walk off with his team.
He threw a kunai at yet another bird that snuck up on him and it flew away just as startled as he was. That was the 31st one that day, he counted. He quickly returned to watching the road for any unsuspecting victims.
While he was watching the road he heard a voice come from the ground below him. Startled, once again, he threw a kunai at it - at "him". Right where the voice came from was a man, and the man's appearance confused him greatly.
The man was large. He was around as tall as Kisame Hoshigaki, with broad shoulders and muscles that were clearly shown by the man's suit which was strangely reminiscent of a bat which confused Tadao but also made him wary. The man was clearly trained greatly for his body to be that way, and besides looking like a bat, the suit was dark enough to easily blend in with the shadows. The man's belt seemed to beg attention with so many pockets and compartments it put Konoha's ninja vests to shame, and a yellow color that stood out compared to the rest of the man's outfit. The outfit also had a cape which seemed impractical at first until Tadao realized it perfectly covered the man's arms making it very difficult to see if he was taking anything from his belt.
Tadao wasn't the only one analyzing though. The man's face was painted in a serious look, eyes cold and calculative, and combined with the man's mask made the missing-nin feel exposed and naked, as if this man knew everything about him.
Because of the man's intimidating presence it took himself a moment to realize that the man's chakra was static and unmoving. Whenever in combat almost all shinobi had their chakra buzzing, ready to fire off any jutsu they needed. This man, intimidating as he seems, was no ninja, a thought which quickly made Tadao release a tired and slightly relieved sigh.
"Damnit. A witness."
Batman readied himself instantly. The way the man in front of him held himself told the dark knight a lot. This man was trained and ready to go, and judging by what he said, Batman would be in for a fight.
His guess was soon confirmed when the man pulled out another kunai and leapt at Batman, aiming for the caped crusader's head.
Batman quickly rolled out of the way. The man was fast, and judging by the fact that he had just hit the ground from that high up without taking any damage he was probably strong too, to an abnormal degree.
The man quickly followed up with a slash at Batman that was swiftly blocked by the Dark Knight's arm guards, leading Batman to counter with a punch straight to the man's face causing him to stagger back.
Now a few feet away, the man narrowed his eyes at Batman, seeming to reevaluate how strong the Caped Crusader really is. Batman didn't give him the time to as he quickly threw 3 batarangs at the man causing him to jump out of the way.
Dashing after the man, Batman quickly got within range and threw a punch at the man's head, which he avoided by ducking… right in Batman's knee strike, snapping his body back up with the force of the blow. Batman followed up by delivering a brutal combo to his staggered opponent. An uppercut to the face followed by grabbing his hair and pulling his head into another knee strike, forcing his head back up while Batman delivered a back kick to the solar plexus knocking the man back, winding him.
Despite his state the man quickly threw a kunai at Batman forcing the vigilante to move back, followed by another kunai with a piece of paper dragging behind it which, to Batman's surprise, exploded, knocking the vigilante into a nearby tree causing his head to start aching greatly.
After taking a moment to collect himself, the man brought his hands together quickly flowing through multiple signs and shouted out, "Water style: Wild Water Wave!" releasing a pressurized stream of water from his mouth straight into Batman knocking the Dark Knight through the tree he was up against.
Batman's head felt like it was pounding against the inside of his skull as he got back on his feet. He'd taken worse blows and gotten back up, although getting shot with pressurized water by a ninja was a first, even for him. Definitely abnormal.
He quickly put together what he knew about his opponent. Enhanced strength and speed, skilled with throwing weapons, some of which explode, skilled in hand to hand and knife combat, and to top it off the ability to shoot pressurized water from his mouth with enough force to knock down a tree. Batman quickly put together a plan to take down the man and started putting it into action.
Batman threw two batarangs at two separate trees. The beeped a few times and then blew up knocking the trees down towards his opponent forcing the man to jump out of the way into a wire shot from Batman's grapple hook gun.
The man fell to the ground, tripping on the wire. He quickly sat up on one knee only to have two batarangs thrown into his body, one in his dominant shoulder, and the other digging deep into his left calf.
Batman quickly rushed up behind his opponent and delivered a hard punch to the side of the man's head, knocking his opponent over once again, and then delivering 3 more heavy blows to the man's head, knocking him out completely.
Batman took a moment to breathe. That fight was more difficult than he had hoped it would be, it hadn't been the hardest fight in his career but it was most definitely not the easiest.
He got down and started stripping his opponent of any weapons he could find, as well as any other supplies. He found about 5 more kunai, 20 shuriken, a bundle of steel wire, and a stack of small papers with the same design as the one that exploded. He also had a pouch of a currency Batman had never seen before, and a map confirming his suspicions. He was definitely not on his Earth anymore.
The Dark Knight took the bundle of steel wire and used it to bind his now unconscious opponent and then rested the man against a tree.
He started examining the map the man had, trying to figure out his location so he can find a nearby settlement with people that would hopefully be more friendly then the one he had met so far.
As he was doing that he felt the "something" again. The same feeling that pointed him towards his new "friend", except this time it was coming towards him, and it was coming fast.
He quickly got up once again and prepared for a fight but was immediately dumbfounded by what was coming at him.
Running at him with a loud yell was a man wearing a dark green jumpsuit and a vest that was a lighter green, and on his back was a man with grey hair who was wearing the same green vest.
The 2 men came screeching to a stop right in front of the Caped Crusader, one had a massive grin on his face and the other looking like he wanted to be anywhere but on the jumpsuit wearing man's back, but quickly got himself together to stare at Batman with a one eyed analyzing look that almost looked casual. Batman knew instantly that these two were more dangerous than his former opponent.
"Hello there stranger! Life treating you good?" the 1st man said with an almost overwhelming enthusiasm while the grey haired man analyzed the surroundings, sighed, and muttered something about a mission report.
The grey haired man looked like he was about to say something when another person came barreling into the area. The new person looked like a younger copy of the man that just greeted Batman, wearing the same jumpsuit, vest, and even had the same hairdo. He was also wearing too many backpacks, with three on his back and one on his front.
"Guy-sensei! Why have we stopped our race?!" Same enthusiasm too.
"Why Lee, we have stopped to greet this dark clothed stranger!" replied the now named "Guy".
"Oh I see!" Lee then turned to Batman and made a 90 degree bow which was almost impressive given the amount of bags the boy was holding, "Nice to meet you sir! My name is Rock Lee!"
Batman relaxed a bit. It didn't look like these people were going to attack him like the last person he met.
They all turned to the sound of heavy breathing and panting coming from the direction the others just came from and saw four more people who all looked like they had just run a marathon. The first thing he noticed was the girl with a red shirt and pink hair followed by a boy clad in orange with golden colored hair. There was also a boy with dark hair and featureless white eyes, and a dark haired girl with grey eyes.
The first to speak up was the boy in orange, "Woah! Who's the guy in the bat costume?"
"We were just about to get to that Naruto," the grey haired man responded and then turned his head towards Batman and spoke as if striking up a casual conversation, "Do you think you could tell us what happened here?" he motioned towards the fallen trees and scorched grass.
Batman nodded, these people at least seemed willing to talk, "I noticed that man over there," he motioned towards his former opponent, "hiding in the trees and called out to him. He then attacked me."
"I see," the grey haired man responded, "Lee, do you think you could carry our friend from Kiri back to Konoha?"
"Yes Kakashi-sensei!" Lee enthusiastically replied as he moved over to pick up Batman's former opponent.
Kakashi then looked back at Batman, his visible eye crinkle into a smile, "Would you mind coming with us to our village to answer a few questions?" He posed it as a question but Batman knew what would happen if he refused.
Batman briefly considered his options. He was never one who liked being interrogated, he usually was the one doing the interrogating, but he knew if he refused he would have to fight, and it wasn't a fight he could win. These people also have yet to show any ill intent and they were offering to take him to their village. Even if it was to "answer some questions" it was still his best chance to find some form of civilization so, he nodded.
"Great! Now let us resume our youthful race!" Guy said as he started running, dragging Kakashi with him and kicking up a cloud of dust behind him, followed by Lee with a "Yes Gai-sensei!" who was now carrying Batman's former opponent who was still unconscious.
Batman and the other four merely stood there staring at their running figures for a moment before the pink haired girl sighed and started moving after them, the others following.
"At least we get to walk now."
