Author's Notes
Chapter 3's already out. I guess I'll explain a few more things in here since I like the sound of my own voice. In case you haven't guessed yet, the story does start at the end of the Kazekage Rescue Mission arc and the beginning of the Sasuke and Sai arc.
This chapter will introduce a few more characters from Naruto including Tsunade, and Ibiki.
Other than that there isn't much to say other than please enjoy (and feedback is always welcome)
And I don't own Batman or Naruto.
Chapter 3
Batman had managed to learn a few things from listening to the conversations of his new escorts. First thing he learned was their names, the blond was named Naruto, the one with white eyes was Neji, the girl with brown hair was Tenten, and the pink haired girl was named Sakura, which Batman found fitting. The second thing he learned was that their group was returning from their mission in a place called the Land of Wind. He also found out, due to Naruto's complaining, that their group would have to submit a mission report to someone Naruto called "Granny Tsunade" who was also called "Lady Hokage" by one of the others, which suggested this "Hokage" was someone of great authority in their village.
Another thing Batman learned was that these 4 were also very skilled. Neji in particular seemed to always be aware of everything going on around him and Batman constantly felt like he was being watched by the boy despite Neji rarely ever actually looking his way. Sakura appeared to be a medic judging by her apron and medical pouch. Tenten seemed more normal compared to them, other than the massive scroll she carried on her back, and then there was Naruto. Naruto was loud and relaxed despite being next to a potential threat, and he didn't have any noticeable qualities other than all the orange he had on his clothing, but Naruto felt… larger than the other three, not in physical size but something else.
Other than their individual qualities, they were also quite organized in terms of teamwork. When they set off the group instantly made a formation that cut off all of Batman's escape routes with a casualness that made it seem like they just happened to be walking there. They were also ready to jump to action at any moment should the need arise but they hid it well enough that any normal person wouldn't notice. They were all being very careful. Well, all except one.
"Can you turn into a bat?"
"No."
"Can you fly?"
"No"
"Do you control bats, like Shino does with his bugs?"
"No."
Naruto was too busy trying to figure out the meaning behind Batman's outfit to be careful.
"Can you summon bats?" Naruto tried again
"No." He could use certain sound frequencies to call bats to his location but Batman didn't think that was what Naruto meant by "summon".
Naruto made an exasperated growl, "Then why are you dressed like a bat?! Do you just like bats?"
Batman smirked a bit at the question which seemed to irritate Naruto even more causing the whiskered teen to let out another exasperated growl.
Naruto's exasperation was interrupted by the group's arrival at the village entrance. Which Batman noticed was guarded by multiple individuals. There were also two people who seemed to be overseeing people's entrance to the village. Not that there was anyone there except them.
After signing into the village and explaining Batman's presence they quickly spotted the others, minus Kakashi.
"Where's Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura questioned.
"My eternal rival is resting at the hospital!" Guy said with the same enthusiasm Batman had seen the man show previously, "Now that we're all here let's report in."
Batman was separated from the group while they went to report in. He was escorted to a building by two more people in green vests, and led to a room. The room was small and bare with only a single table with two chairs, one on each side. An interrogation room.
He sat alone in the room for about 30 minutes until two men came into the room, they were both about the same size, one had blond hair while the other had his head covered by a bandana that had a metal plate by the forehead with a design that resembled a leaf. The man with his head covered also had two scars running diagonally across his face.
"My name is Ibiki Morino. I'm going to ask you some questions and trust me when I say I'll know if you're lying," the scarred man spoke in a somewhat menacing tone as he sat down, the blonde man standing behind him. "What's your name?"
Batman decided to do a quick test, "Jack Shaw," he said. It was a lie of course, but Batman was good at lying, the only people who have ever been able to catch his lies did so through supernatural means like mindreading, which was exactly what he was checking for. If they were really able to tell his lies from the truth then that would change things, for one he'd have to be especially careful of how he answered questions he didn't want to answer truthfully, but it also meant these people would be more likely to believe him if he revealed he was from another dimension. He needed a place to set up if he wanted to get back home, and this village was as good as any, and he serves to gain more than he loses if they know of his circumstances.
The blonde man made a small motion, so small that it wasn't noticeable unless you were looking for it. Ibiki narrowed his eyes, "You're lying."
"Just checking," Batman responded. They could tell he was lying, but whether it was a skill or an ability was uncertain. He assumed the latter but wasn't certain yet. Next step then, something that seems like a lie but is actually the truth, and he had the perfect thing for that.
Ibiki spoke again, "Where are you from?" Perfect.
"Another dimension," Batman stated matter-of-factly.
Ibiki's face told Batman exactly what the scarred man was thinking, "Bull. shit." But the blonde man's eyes widened. Bingo.
Ibiki looked like he was about to say something, whether he was going to ask another question was something that they would never know though, cause before Ibiki got the chance to speak the blonde grabbed Ibiki's shoulder causing the scarred man to turn to look at him. They had a momentary conversation with their eyes until Ibiki turned around and excused themselves from the room.
Batman sat in the now empty room pondering his next actions.
Tsunade had just finished checking up on Kakashi after receiving the mission report from the rest of the team, including the part about the odd man dressed as a bat. She was interested in hearing more about that. The report states that they discovered a man who had allegedly defeated a chunin level missing-nin from Kiri, and he did it without chakra. Add on to that the fact that Neji couldn't see through the man's mask and various other points of his body even with the Byakugan, and what Neji could see looked more advanced than any technology they had seen.
But that would have to wait for now. Sakura had managed to gather some information as a "reward" from Sasori for defeating him, and it was certainly useful information. Any lead on Orochimaru is useful.
"Ten days, at the Tenchi Bridge." Tsunade repeated to herself. This was the biggest lead they've had on Orochimaru in a while, and a lead on Orochimaru was a lead on Sasuke.
"It's already been four days since then, we only have six days left," Sakura informed.
"Yes, but can you trust your source?" Tsunade asked. The Akatsuki were far from trustworthy and Tsunade was not about to waste manpower when they only just started to get over the craziness caused by Gaara's kidnapping.
"They were his last words. I doubt he was lying," Sakura stated
"What if it's all a trap?" Tsunade proposed, "With Orochimaru as the bait, and the Akatsuki waiting there in full force for whoever's foolish enough to show up."
"If it's a trap… well then we fight em!"
"Yes, but now Kakashi is going to be out of commission for more than a week, and with only six days 'till the rendezvous," Tsunade stated matter-of-factly, "On top of that, Team Kakashi has been undermanned ever since Sasuke left."
Sakura looked at the floor, "That's true…" she didn't like being reminded of Sasuke. Mentioning that their team was undermanned was a big reminder that their team is still incomplete after he abandoned the village.
"Your only solution is to find a new member and assemble a new team."
Shizune, who was also with them, was about to speak but was interrupted by Ibiki's appearance, "Lady Hokage," he greeted.
"Ibiki. What is it?"
"It's the Bat. We came across something in our questioning that we believe needs your attention."
This got Tsunade curious. Information that couldn't wait for a report. Information that caused Ibiki to come straight to her. She sent him a look that told him to continue.
Ibiki glanced at the other two then back at Tsunade who had now raised an eyebrow, then proceeded, "When we asked where he came from he claimed to be from another dimension. Tetsuo Yamanaka, who was serving as my lie detector, confirmed the statement to be true."
"That can't be right. Another dimension? That's just crazy." Sakura said doubtfully.
"Our observations have shown that the Bat has nothing wrong with his brain, in fact he seemed very sharp. During the short time we interrogated him it felt like he was testing us."
Tsunade's mind was racing. The Bat was from another dimension? That sounds crazy, but according to Ibiki it was probably true. Why is he here then? How did he get here? What does he want? She decided quickly and looked straight at Ibiki, "Take me to him."
