Author's Notes

Hey there. I had some trouble writing this chapter hence why it's a bit later than the last few chapters have been. It's also a bit shorter. This chapter is mostly showing Bruce's Research into chakra and jutsus.

I've yet to decide what direction I want this story to go, I have a few ideas though. The first idea is to have him take a place in the main storyline, interact with the main characters a bunch etc. The second idea is to have him utilize his detective skills to investigate Danzo and bring his crimes to light. Third is to have him investigate the Akatsuki like/with Jiraiya. I could also have him do his own thing completely separate from the main story but frankly I want him to interact with the main story. I'm working on introducing him to each of the main cast as well. Let me know what you guys think, personally I'm leaning towards the first 2 ideas.

Chapter 6

After Shikaku left, Bruce went back to his research. He decided to take a break from dimension travel and decided to research something that was more of a… personal interest. Since he arrived in this world the strange "something" in his body had been bothering him. He hypothesized it might be this chakra he'd heard about. The description seemed to fit.

Bruce collected some books that could enlighten him on the subject and started researching. The first thing he found out was that it was vastly different from anything he'd seen before. Chakra was an energy-like substance that came from the stomach area and flowed through the body in a circulatory system similar to how blood flows from the heart. Chakra is able to be used in jutsus such as genjutsu, ninjitsu, and taijutsu. Genjutsu is using chakra to induce hallucinations and trick the body's senses. Ninjutsu used chakra to create phenomena such as breathing fire, shooting lightning, and creating temporary clones of oneself. Taijutsu was hand to hand combat that was usually enhanced by chakra. There was also fuinjutsu, or sealing jutsu, which was used to seal objects, chakra, or even a living being, inside of something, it could also be used to restrict movement.

What concerned Bruce the most was the Chakra Pathway System. The Chakra Pathway System was a part of the body and could even be interfered with physically. If the "something" in his body really was chakra, then how did it get there? Bruce had done countless amounts of X-rays on himself, usually to check for injuries, and knew his body inside and out and he knew he never had this Chakra Pathway System. He didn't know how it got there and that concerned him, Batman always had to know what was happening, and if he didn't he'd find out, but he had nothing, nothing but guesses and, as the world's greatest detective, he knew that wasn't enough, but he pushed it aside. He wouldn't get anywhere without evidence, and frankly it wasn't important, what was important was what he could do with chakra.

During his research on chakra Bruce found out there was a particularly rare branch of ninjutsu called Space-Time Ninjutsu. If he could learn how to use Space-Time Ninjutsu he might be able to engineer a way home, and to do that he'll need to learn how to use chakra.

He heard a beep come from his utility belt, never leaves home without it, and checked the time. It was time for his meeting with Tsunade.

Tsunade was irritated. Worried too but mostly irritated. Naruto had set out this morning along with his team for the mission to meet with Sasori's spy and as much as she believed in Naruto she couldn't help but be worried. It wasn't enough that the meeting could very well be a trap but the fact that one of Naruto's teammates was working for Danzo was equally if not more concerning, and irritating.

She sighed and glared at her assistant Shizune who seemed to stiffen in reaction to the glare. If it wasn't for Shizune telling the council, Tsunade wouldn't have to worry about what Danzo's subordinate was up to. She'd need to find a way to punish Shizune soon.

Her glaring was interrupted by a knock at her door followed by Bruce entering. He raised an eyebrow at Tsunade's irritated state but said nothing. She'd been getting that reaction a lot today, mostly from Jonin and Anbu, the Anbu may wear masks but she can just tell. She pushed her irritation aside and got down to business.

"I heard you spent all night in the library," she started. She had heard from the Anbu she had told to watch him that he hadn't left the library since yesterday. She also heard about how he managed to tie in a game of Shogi with Shikaku which was actually quite impressive considering Shikaku's tactical genius.

Bruce simply nodded. Tsunade had noticed that he didn't seem to like talking much, and when he did talk it was usually straight to the point. It was fairly easy to deal with, especially comparing it to Naruto who never seemed to stop talking.

Tsunade dropped a folder on her desk and prompted Bruce to pick it up. "I want you to see what you can do to improve these," She said. They were just short range communication devices, nothing too major. The state of technology in the village was mostly secret to outsiders. The technology in the village can be directly related to the strength of the village and if it got out then it could cause a great number of problems. While Bruce had been honest so far that didn't mean he was trustworthy, so she'd start small. "I'd like for you to create a blueprint of the updated design and build a prototype with Research and Development. Once you're finished with the blueprint, come see me and then we'll introduce you to Research and Development to get started on the prototype." Bruce looked over the folder for a moment and then nodded and began to walk away.

Suddenly Tsunade had an idea, "Wait," Bruce stopped, looked back, and raised an eyebrow in question. Tsunade turned to Shizune who seemed equally confused, "Shizune, what else is on my schedule today?"

Shizune's confusion grew, "After this you have to go over paperwork until 11:00am then you're at the missions desk until 3:00pm then back to paperwork for the rest of the day."

"Perfect!" Tsunade exclaimed standing up, "Shizune, I'll leave today's work to you, call me if there's an emergency, I'll personally be showing Bruce to the Research and Development."

"But Lady Tsunade!" Shizune called after Tsunade who was already leaving while practically dragging Bruce out the door, "You can't just-" Shizune never got to finish though as the door was slammed in her face. Shizune stared at the door for a moment and then looked back at the towering stack of documents in fear.
