It had been a week since Jack had become a Guardian. His injuries from the battle were healing nicely. Thanks to snow packs that started after Peter and the fairies left Jack is now able to get up and walk around. He still needs his bandages and get twinges of pain now and then but all in all he's happy. The Guardians come to hang out much more often now. Tooth and Sandy even find time to be around him despite their 24/7 jobs. Tooth by letting the mini fairies take over now and again and, Sandy by letting children Ocasionally haveing a dreamless sleep. They all still keep an eye out for Pitch though. MIM assured them that Pitch won't be back for years but you never know.
Tooth let Baby Tooth take a little time off in order to visit Jack. She and Jack were currently sitting in the library. He sat in a comfy armchair with her on his shoulder. Jack was telling Baby Tooth all the stories he knew of Neverland, the Never Fairies, and Peter Pan. "And when they aligned their wings again the light that came from it grew so big and bright Tinkerbell and Periwinkle were surrounded by it. It was beautiful but non could look straight at it. Not even the light fairies. When the light diminished Tinkerbell's wing was completely healed. It was if it was never broken in the first place. Everyone cheered. From then on the boarders were open to everyone. And Tinkerbell and Periwinkle have been able to be together when ever they want and have had alot of fun since." Baby Tooth sighed in happiness. Then she chirped "I love that story. In fact I love all your stories. Maybe you should write them down sometime. I'm sure others would love to read them. Epecially the kids."
"Well..." but before he could give his answer North walked in. "Ah still telling stories I see." North said. "Yeah Baby Tooth really loves the stories from Neverland. She even suggested I write them down for others to enjoy." Jack replied "Ah that would be splendid da? Are you going to do it?" North asked. "Well I think I might given my off time and the fact that I'm still recovering. But I need promition from the people involved in the true stories like Peter, the lost children, and the Never Fairies. Do you think they'll be good? Not just for the spirit world but for the children too?"
North was taken aback a little by Jack's need of confidence but he would not deny him it. "Of course my boy. Your stories are very riveting. They enrapture anyone who hears them from what I've witnessed. Now the reason I came in I believe will help you as well. Jack as you know the Guardians are well known through out the spirit world and the realm of man. But two of them though well known for who they are are not well known for being Guardians. These two were out on a special mission for MIM during the battle with Pitch. They have returned successful and, are here now to meet you."
Jack was a little surprised by this but, was a little curious too. He also had a tendency to follow his curious impulses. "Alright but, who are they?"He asked. North with a big smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes said "Walk with me and I shall tell you. As they walked with Baby Tooth still on Jack's shoulder North spoke. "Now the two Guardians you are about to meet are very old friends of ours. In fact they became Guardians the same time as me. You and the world would know them as Father Time and Mother Goose. We know them as Ombric and Katherine. Ombric is even older than me. Katherine however if I guess your physical age correctly is about the same age as you. They are not spirits but they did become immortal a long time ago. Perhaps Katherine can be persuaded to tell the stories of the Guardians early days. She is the Guardian of story telling and imagination and has kept records of all our stories. If she has Mr. Qwerty with her that will be even better for the two of you may exchange storied if you wish."
Jack though he tried to hide it was a little nervous. He didn't know what to think of them but, he wasn't going to back down either. A moment later they arrived in the globe room. There they saw Ombric and Katherine. Ombric in appearance and power was the classic wizard. With the long robes pointy hat and long white beard and mustache. Jack however only took him in for a breaf moment. For the second he laid eyes on Katherine he couldn't look away. She was the most beautiful girl Jack had ever seen. With her long curly auburn hair tied back in a pony tail and, her stormy grey eyes that sparkled in the light. Jack felt like he could look forever in her eyes trying to find out the extent of the beautiful sole within. It also seemed Jack wasn't the only one unable to stop staring. Katherine was too. Both looking into eachother's eyes and unable to say anything.
North had to clear his throat 3 times and shake Jack a little in order to snap him out of it. Once the trance broke for Jack it broke for Katherine. Jack and Katherine blushed awkwardly then Jack asked "Umm..s sorry what happened?" North had a look of slight concern on his face but, Ombric had an amused knowing smile. Trying not to embarrass them further Ombric simply said "That's quite alright dear boy no harm done. Now to introduce ourselves. I am Ombric a wizard and also known as Father Time. Also this lovely young lady is Katherine also known as Mother Goose." Katherine blushed again and curtsied saying "Hello it's nice to meet you."
Even her voice is beautiful Jack thought. Then he bowed and said "Hello to you both it's a pleasure to meet you. I am Jack Frost Spirit of Winter and, the newly appointed Guardian of Fun." "So fun is your center hmm." said Ombric. "That's very good. The world could use more fun and joy in it. Especially the children. Why during trying times both are essential to ease the heart and mind. We are lucky to have you with us. Welcome to the family Jack." "Thankyou Sir." Jack responded. "Oh no need for formalities please call me Ombric." "Thankyou just the same Ombric." Jack said with a smile. "Your very welcome lad. Now it seems North and I have some business to discuss. So why don't you, Katherine, and your little fairy friend run along and get to know eachother better hmm?" Ombric suggested.
With a look of shocked rememberence on his face Jack said. "Oh glaciers I'm sorry Little Lady I forgot to introduce you." Baby Tooth waved it off saying she's not offended and didn't mind. "Well just the same Ombric Katherine I'd like to introduce you to one of Tooth's mini fairies and one of my best friends Baby Tooth." She chirped Hello. "You named her?" Ombric asked astonished. Getting a little nervous at the comment Jack answered. "W..Well yes I did. It's a long story but, Tooth doesn't seem to mind and Baby Tooth loves her name." Baby Tooth nodded in agreement. "Is there a problem with naming her that we aren't aware of though?"
Ombric stroked his beard contemplating for a moment then he said. "Names can be powerful things. For most they are harmless and have no power. For some however, names can either have unpredictable power on the recipient or, give unpredictable power to the one who knows it." Everyone especially Jack and Baby Tooth looked horrified at the concept. Jack worried asked "B..But what's going to happen to Baby Tooth?" With a sad look Ombric explained "There is no way to tell. Though I can see into the future her future in that regard is blocked by the unpredictability. However I can discern that happiness surrounds her. What that means is a mystery. In the end only time can tell.
Katherine seeing Jack's worry and sadness decided to reasure him. "Do not worry Jack you didn't know. I'm sure you meant no harm by it. Plus think of what Ombric said. He said that happiness surrounds her. I can't imagine anything bad will happen considering that. However to ease your mind I will share something with you. This is the first thing that Ombric teaches anyone who has been his student. There is power in belief. Everyone has a little magic inside them. The beginning and strength in any spell is in believing. So try thinking and believing with all your might that Baby Tooth will be alright. You must also chant aloud I believe 3 times. That should help and to make it stronger we will chant with you.
They formed a circle, closed their eyes and chanted "I believe, I believe, I believe." When they opened their eyes they saw that Jack and Katherine were glowing. Jack glowing blue and Katherine glowing yellow. As the glow faded no one noticed that Baby Tooth absorbed some of their glow. Jack in awe asked "What was that?"
Ombric answered "Immortals and children have great power in belief. You and Katherine are immortal children thereby makeing your belief stronger than anyone. When you chanted the spell of belief your power showed by makeing you both glow. It is a power of great strength and, great responsibility. I suggest you both use it wisely."
They both nodded then turned to eachother smiling. Then Jack said "Thankyou all for helping." They all said your welcome. North looking at the clock stated "Well old friend I believe it's time we deal with the business we must discuss. We will be in my office if you three need us. Have fun but, Jack make sure you take at easy. Don't want to hurt ribs more da." Jack nodded and the two old friends left. Jack looked at Katherine with a smile and asked "Would you like to go to the library and talk for awhile? It's just the right temperature for all of us. Plus I bet if we ask Phil or one of the other Yetis can wipe up some snacks and drinks to enjoy." Katherine nodded saying "I would love that." So the three of them went to the library. There would begin the start of a wonderful friendship. Little did they know that something very special started that would change their lives in what could only hope for the better.
