"So I have to stay here and take at easy until I'm healed. I only get twinges of pain now and then. So I'd say I'm healing nicely. Also quickly compared to being on my own. The Never Fairies are a great help but, they can only do so much when it comes to certain injuries." Jack had just finished explaining his story and all the information he has given the Guardians so far. He found Katherine very easy to talk to, a great listener, and a very nice girl.

"Your story is very good and I'm sure Mr. Qwerty enjoyed recording it in his pages." Mr. Qwerty had been in Katherine's coat pocket to stay warm in the cold weather. Once they were in the library and settled Katherine took the enchanted firefly/book out to get some air. She introduced him to Jack and Baby Tooth and vice-versa. Then Katherine asked Jack's promition to hear the story of the Guardian's most recent battle with Pitch and to let Mr. Qwerty record it. Jack proceeded to do so and, his listeners were just as inthralled as the others were the first time he told it.

Katherine after he finished had more to say. "I have to thankyou for getting the others back in touch with children and, help them rediscover their centers and the purpose of their jobs. I myself have realized I've been too complacent and lost sight of what made me a Guardian. However hearing your story has inspired me to fix that. I will have to have a talk with the others about the Easter fiasco though." Jack opened his mouth to object but, Katherine politely shushed him. "Jack I realize you don't want to make the situation worse but, the truth is they should not have treated you that way. What they saw was circumstantial evidence and they should have gotten your side of the story before making judgments. As for your time nearly alone for so long. Well when it comes down to it we somehow missed and ignored a child. An immortal child at that. I don't know how it happened exactly but, I'm sure we all will want to and will make it up to you. Personally I'd like to start by asking this. Would you like to be friends with me?"

Jack smiled one of the truest happiest smiles she'd ever seen. It almost brought a tear to her eye. Then Jack said "I'd love to." "Wonderful." She replied laying her hands on his. The moment their skin touched a bright light burst forth with a force that nearly nocked them over. After the four of them got their barrings back Jack asked "What the slush was that?" "I'm not sure however, it seemed very familiar somehow. Unfortunately I can't quite place it. I suppose we can talk to Ombric and North about it if you wish." Katherine said.

Jack thought for a moment and said "Maybe later right now I would like to spend more time with you three if that's alright?" Katherine's smile was one of the most beautiful things Jack had ever seen. He would do anything he could to keep her smiling. "Of course and since you told me a story how about Mr. Qwerty and I tell you some. How about the Guardians early days and how we were formed? There are four stories to get through and telling them will take a while but it is worth it." Jack and Baby Tooth agreed and so the first story began. [Read The Guardians of Childhood series books 1-4 if you wanna know what stories she told them]

She and Mr. Qwerty had just finished the first story when North and Ombric walked in. "Ah enjoying eachother's company I see." North said with his usual jollyness. "It is however dinner time. Would you four like to join us?" They nodded and got up to join them Jack and Katherine carrying Baby Tooth and Mr. Qwerty respectively. On the way Jack proceeded to tease North about the giant kitten incident and the eternally bouncing ball. Everyone laughed including North through his embarrassment. The other Guardians showed up for dinner as well. They all had a great time talking and getting to know Jack and he them. Also with the Guardians getting reaquainted with eachother since it had been a long time that they all hung out.

They were haveing such a good time that it got late and they all decided to spend the night. As Jack laid down to sleep with Sandy's dream sand takeing hold he smiled. Dreams of the family he always hoped for turning the Guardians into the family he allways wanted played in his mind as he peacefully slept.

TIME SKIP

It had been another week since Jack first met Katherine and Ombric. Katherine had visited nearly everyday. The more time they spent together the more their friendship and feelings grew. Jack couldn't remember ever having the feelings he did for Katherine before. He wasn't sure what they were at first but, having Baby Tooth to talk to Jack was sure he was falling for Katherine more and more everyday. Now however Jack was finally healed enough from the battle with Pitch to leave Santoff Claussen and, help with autumn in the southern hemisphere. Since the southern hemisphere is mainly warm climates autumn and winter require less work and time to bring to the world. So Jack has more free time until autumn and winter are needed in the northern hemisphere.

The other Guardians were at Santoff Claussen to see Jack off. Tooth as motherly as she was was fussing over Jack. "Now if you feel any pain come right back. Don't strain yourself. Make sure to remember the snow globe North gave you in case you need it. Stay safe and remember your welcome at any of our homes at any time. Are you sure your going to be alright out there though Sweet Tooth? I know you can defend yourself. It's just that your not completely healed yet and, I can't help but worry something may happen to you out there."

Jack smiled taking her hands in his and said. "Please don't worry Tooth. I understand why and, if I had it my way I'd stay until I'm completely healed but I can't. I'm needed to help with autumn down south. I know that all the seasons have spirits in charge of them and I'm not in charge of autumn. But we've been over this. Because there is so much work in spring and autumn summer helps spring and winter helps autumn. It's not strenuous work for me anyway. All I'm going to do right now is help paint the leaves where appropriate. I'll be done with today's load by mid afternoon. Once I'm done I'll come straight back here and rest up. Besides I won't be alone. The Never Fairies will be there and you guys are just a button push away thanks to North's new Aurora watches. I'll call or signal you guys if I need help. I'll even call just to talk if you want ok?" North had thanks to an idea from Jack invented watches that not only tell time via North Pole time and whatever timezone your in. It also functioned like a 3d hollow graphic video call and, sent a smaller version of the Aurora signal to the other's watches. They even had trackers in them just in case.

Sniffling a little Tooth smiled and said "OK I'd like that... just promise to be careful Jack please?"

"I promise." Jack said then asked the others. "Now is there anything else needed before I go?" The others shook their heads stating he and Tooth covered everything. With a smile and a hug goodbye for Tooth Jack happily flew out the window. As he flew he thought 'I didn't think I'd feel this way so soon but, I think my secret wish is starting to come true. It'll be nice to have a family again.' So Jack flew off to start his job in helping autumn.
