I can understand your feeling. How it feels to not do anything but still have to do. Not really a good feeling, I tell ya. I honestly wish to run far away, I mean would it do any good sticking around outside. My friends just took their part of work way too seriously. I really have a bad feeling about all this, so much that my stomach starts to hurt. Are we really gonna be okay?
Well, since my stomach hurts, it is normal that I return home, right? You can do nothing when you are sick. I understand. By no means it is some sort of excuse. Since I just got a stomachache, I must rest. To take good care of our health. So, without a second chance, I tried to free my hand from Lana's so I could go home and rest, she glared at me.
Probably my imagination but nevertheless, scary. Can't I even make choice? Well, it may be my fault but I could at least choose what to do... Damn, that bitchy mother of mine. If I ever get a chance, I would like to slap her. I am a researcher, all right. So, why the fuck should I have to catch a pokemon? It would be great if some looks like it, freaking hell no. If anything, due to aetheric energy, all the pokemon look likes something out of a horror movie, which we call mutations. Except for those being protected inside the veil, or in an easier term, a barrier.
If I have to state my problem, it would be I don't want to touch pokemon. I'm not lying, okay. It's not like I can't touch them, I just don't want to. Anyway, it applies for normal looking once so no way in hell, I want to touch those mutations.
So, you may ask why is it that we are heading for an exit if we could get normal and healthy pokemon inside the veil. Well, the answer is simple. Because of the new pokepolicy. The pokemons inside the veil are under the protection of Wild Poke Preserve (WPP). Just think about it for a second, you can't expose the pokemon to overpowered energy that is aether but if you can control pokemon that has been mutant, obviously that would be ideal. And it's not like it is impossible, especially with these custom-made cards solely to catch the mutations.
While cards are indeed the same as Pokeball, they still differ from the rest of them. Compared to a master ball with a 100 percent catch rate, it may fall but it also has its own merit. For example, in the end, a master ball only catches the pokemon, just like normal pokemon. What makes cards different is their synchronization ability with SKIN.
The concept of pokemon trainer and battle no longer exists. Admit it, even the pokemons of renowned hero's are being protected inside the veil. Well, you may think then what the hell is synchronization, then here is another concept. You can't battle outside the veil with your pokemon. Why? Because exposing your pokemon to the aetheric energy would cause them to mutant. While you may think mutation is amazing and all 'cause of the sudden increase in power and physically changing but you are wrong. While you get the idea, right. It is similar, in fact extremely similar to pokemon's evolution. Similar to how their power level and looks change. I think aether energy must have some sort of doing their evolution. But mutation is somewhat different. Maybe it is because exposing them to a high amount, but being mutation not only causes them to further evolve than their evolution line, they also completely lose their mind. In another word, a pure killing machine.
And this also makes it easier to use them as SKIN. Because they are more powerful than your average pokemons, they are more suited to use in SKIN. A person may only carry six cards with them. Don't mistake, it wasn't like how Pokemon Association put the rule of trainers carrying only six pokeballs in the past. It is because even the most powerful SKIN can't handle the firepower released from six cards. Of course, you don't have to release pokemons from their card to use SKIN and this is what we call the ability 'sync, in other words, due to synchronization, even humans can fight.
Well, at least I hope you get why I am against it, right? Who in the right mind would like to fight? I looked at my friends ahead of me, as ultra guardians, I can't believe all of them are super ready to battle. I don't think I am an oddball but I guess I could understand where they are coming from. While I am at it, I would also answer your next question. You may think, if a pokemon doesn't have to come out while using SKIN, why not use a normal pokemon. Simple, there is no telling what would happen outside the veil because you may think a mutation is just a brainless creature but the destruction they would invite is more gruesome than the titans. Well, there are other aspects but let's just push those aside for now.
While I am sure Aether Foundation is working to bring mutants back to their original form, I doubt that is my mother's real intention. If anything, I would be more shocked if her real goal was to heal mutation. I can also tell why she introduced the Ultra Guardian in the first place. Just like me, she is also after this energy called aether. We are even barely touching the surface of this energy. I am sure there is more to it than it looks. Geez, that mother of mine.
Well, I can't say bringing some normal, who haven't mutant pokemon outside the veil work against the law. While almost all the wild pokemons are under the protection of WPP, it doesn't change the fact that most people still contain their pokemon. If I have to say, most people don't take the chance. Unless if you are cold-hearted, I doubt you would risk exposing your partner to such a deadly element. Well, I know I wouldn't. So, going by that explanation, catching a mutant one would be far better.
While it is better than taking normal ones outside, I still think it is somehow wrong. I don't know, it just feels wrong. I know they are just some mindless, or more specific, someone who lost the ability to think, I believe it is still wrong to use them as a weapon. People use them because they aren't pokemon anymore. They are just monsters, beings who would kill without a thought. Even if that is the case, it wouldn't change a bit that they were once nature-loving pokemons. That's why I can't forgive whoever it was that decided to release such a dangerous element in our world.
Not that, I could complain, to begin with. I told you, remember, this whatever Aether doesn't have any effects on human beings. At least not till now. And many researchers, me included are studying this element. While I think we are barely touching the surface of the energy, it doesn't change the fact that we are using this energy for our own convenience. In fact, we are using this energy for our daily purpose, like bees attracted to flowers. It can't be helped, honestly. This element is just that much advanced even compared to our old world. Ah! by the old world, I mean the world before the explosion of this massive energy. And I don't know how much human civilization could advance if they managed to decipher this unknown energy completely. Or maybe, it would lead to our destruction, who knows.
If possible, I would also rather choose from inside the veil, normal ones you know. It's not like I can touch them... ahem, I mean I don't want to touch them neither do I want to fight, so I doubt I would ever get to shine on that topic. So, I don't think I would risk pokemon, anyway. Also since I'm a researcher, I don't think I would venture outside much, even if I were to receive my own SKIN. Honestly, though, it is nothing but a pain. I should just go back inside.
I said I would get normal, totally not because I am also afraid of mutants. Got it? Ok. I mean do you really believe everything is free. Mutants can't think rationally, do you really believe that humans can control and be partners with them? Then you believed correct. But you see, the ratio of people that can maintain the balance with mutants is generally low and the feet, freaking hard to achieve. And I doubt I could be one of those exceptional people. I ain't self-loathing, I have my own field to work with after all.
What I mean is they are really really reaaaaallly hard to control. In the end, they are just mindless creatures. But some humans could still work with them. Actually, this fact is the reason why many institutions are actually working to revert them back. And since they are willing to work together, it must be some sign of intelligence. I don't know, maybe it could be their intuition as pokemon either. Anyway, since it doesn't fall into my category, let's just kick it aside.
Just when we were making our way to the exit, we were suddenly interrupted by the sudden noise caused by my phone. My phone can detect the number and save it on its own, well at least the owner based on the number registration, so I don't really care about saving contact info. Why? Because it is a pain. But still, the one who called me is actually someone whose number I personally saved, even putting the number on my favorite list. So, it goes without a doubt that I would pick the phone ASAP.
