Five years ago, humankind faced destruction. The occurrence was due to the massive energy of Aether blanketing the whole planet. Many pokemons were subjected to the energy, unable to control such destructive force, they subdued to it. Thus, resulting in improper evolution. Today, that evolution is called: Mutant. With so many pokemons' mutations, losing to reason, the world came to the war. At least, the word 'war' is when we put it nicely. Otherwise, it was just wits to survive. Though humankind managed to withhold, the loss overwhelmed.
Now, here we are, under the live broadcast of thousands of mutants attacking the Melemele island. Though the scale is small, for the small city, the numbers aren't something to ignore. How will these wits be progressed? Will citizens withstand the attack or subdue to the overwhelming number of mutants? Stay tuned with the Lillie Live Channel for more information... Tee-hee. Not that we are in the scene recording. Anyway, jokes aside... I think it's not really a joke considering we could hear the rumbling of the mutants running toward the island. Just the quake was enough to warn us of the overwhelming number the enemy possesses.
But the question is, how is the monster really going to attack the city? Even with such a large number of mutants, even if they all combine their attacks, I honestly doubt they could put the scratched in the veil. Of course, while we humans possess the means to fight back, unlike in the past there is a mastermind behind the mutant attack this time. But regardless of the horde attack, if the monster can't penetrate the barrier, then the attack itself would be meaningless. But if we take the account of its attitude, I think the monster has some sort of plan.
So, considering the monster did have some sort of plan to penetrate the barrier, then this is where his main plan takes action. In another word, the real reason he lured the members of UG outside the barrier. Think about it this way, the monster must have known about us, and considering the reputation we have in Alola, it's not weird for it to be wary of us. And that follows the advantage of us having inside the veil or not. I don't know what kind of view it has on us... No, considering it is trying to hold us here, that means it is considering us a threat to the horde attack.
The reason is simple actually. If we are left inside the veil, then we have the terrestrial advantage. Thus, gaining us extra aid in the battle. But for the monster, due to its position as its commander, it couldn't attack recklessly either. Of course, it could attack us but because of all the chaos raging around, it would have a hard time fighting us. Think about it this way, if we were to fight between the mass number of humans and mutants, there would be a huge loss because of our seemingly powerful attacks. And since the number of mutants is large by fact, the loss for the monster would be great then it anticipated.
After all, not all the mutants are as overpowered as the one in front of us. And the members of UG aren't so pushover that they couldn't deal with few couples of mutants singlehandedly. So, you can probably tell the firepower the UG carries around their belt. And since, the monster couldn't fight all of us at the same time, and also have to restraint its power, thus gaining us lots of advantages. While I wouldn't say the odds will be that much different, our chance of coming on top would be much higher if we are inside the veil.
Well, no point talking about what if when we are already outside the veil. Also, for the monster to decrease lots of firepower of Melemele island, yeah, no doubt to say, the advantages are all turning toward him. While I believe the people of Melemele island would still fight back, if the mutants managed to penetrate the veil, the tide would be totally one-sided. Just the question is: how is the monster planning to penetrate the barrier? After all, the barrier is no kids' toy. I told you before, nothing goes inside neither comes outside. They can't break the pillars either as it is inside the veil and also, inside the separate veil surrounding itself. Only administrators have the access to the veil whether they unlock it or not.
Namely, four people: Hala, Olivia, Nanu, and Hapu. Wait, if my mind serves me right, I think Hapu gave her position to Acerola due to some unforeseen event. Well, in any case, it wouldn't be possible to release the barrier without any of these four. And these four aren't the administrators for nothing. They were respectable people before when they were kahunas except one who wasn't part of the kahuna group. And there is no doubt their faith toward the Alola. So, how are they going to penetrate the barrier?
"You are planning to destroy the teleportation circle, aren't you?" Looks like the conversation between the monster and Anabel returned to the topic on hand when she posed the question. "Aren't you aware of the disaster you would invite for yourself when you destroy the circle?"
"But is there any use of destroying the barrier?" Mallow thought as she asked, "I mean, the Alola could call for help from the outside. The horde would be nothing but a sitting duck."
Mallow wasn't wrong but to her question, the monster simply smiled. Just its unwavering smile was enough to tell what goes inside its head. The outcome Mallow proposed only works if the monster just waits outside the barrier. But if it has really the plan to go beyond the veil, then they won't be sitting duck. The questionable question is how but let's leave that to the monster itself for how it is going to penetrate the veil. If it can't make sure that its army went inside the veil, then it would work in our favor. Given enough time, the help would arrive. If they can't go inside the veil within the time the outer source comes to our aid, then we could win. In fact, the monster would be sandwiched from both sides. It would be a checkmate for the monster.
Naturally, that would be the best outcome for us. But how would it be that simple?
"Think what you like." The monster still kept its unwavering smile as it descended from the tree branch. "Do you know why the mindless soldiers are the best?"
"You aren't thinking of self-destructing to blast the barrier, are you?" Anabel shook her hand, "Believe me, you wouldn't put a dent on it."
"Ahaha~ nice joke Purlie. But well-" The monster looked at one of the directions where the smoke cloud was raising. "Let's put the end to this charade. It's time to begin the operation." The second snap of its finger and true to his word, we fell dumbfounded. The answer was simple. The towering veil that reached the sky suddenly vanished. It wasn't much of the disappearing but the portion of the veil was indeed disabled allowing the monster to penetrate the defense of the Melemele island. But to disable such portions wasn't possible without the access of administrations.
So why?
It wasn't just me that was shocked, everyone present was gawking at the situation imprudently. So that means, the reason for the destruction of teleportation was to prevent a helping hand from the outside. As we looked at the veil, within a few seconds, it started to close. But just a matter of a second and the majority of the mutants had already gone inside the veil. I guess the reason the veil closed was that one of the admins got into action. But if looking that way, by chance one of the admins turned their back on us? After all, only admins have access to control the pillars of the veil. If so, then which one?
If the veil hadn't been disabled, then the monster would have been wiped by outer force. While destroying the teleporters would cause minor disasters but that's all that was supposed to happen. But the disabling and re-enabling of the veil changed the whole prospect. Nobody knows about the teleportation circle within the school, albeit the small number of people. Unless we managed to evaluate all the people through that circle, it would be a war between humans and mutants within the enclosed city. But how much would it take to evaluate such an amount of people? Is it even possible?
Without the teleportation, no outer force could get in to help, that includes us too. And even if we were to ask for help, how much time would it take for them to reach? Not to mention that one of the admins is literally a traitor at this point and because of the situation, we have no way of knowing. The situation just got from bad to worse. And our situation wasn't helpful either.
"Lillie, watch out."
I heard the shout but before I could react, someone hugged me, pulling me away. I barely had time to watch only to find out the place where I was standing was now filled with the big spike of rock. I can't believe I am still alive. If Anabel hadn't helped me, I would be dead for sure. I am pretty sure I wasn't that out of the situation but it was still beyond what I could pull. I mean I wasn't even able to see the incoming attack.
"Jeez, just what were you thinking, going on your own dream world while we are in the middle of the battle?" Anable sighed as she turned to scold me. She put me down after covering some distance from the monster. "Seriously, jeez. I don't want to lose the first friend I made. So don't die on me, alright?"
She probably meant the first friend after losing her memory but I am nonetheless happy. Also- "Don't say something like that. It's like you are deliberately raising the death flag."
"Sorry sorry." She pulled out her tongue while joining her two hands. "But seriously, just don't go back to your world, okay?"
I looked toward my surrounding to barely find out everyone was doing their best to hold back the monster. Well, most of the members of paradise were useless just like me. A bit useful than me, fine... I get it. Anyway, checking that I am not in any danger for a moment, I grabbed the hem of her suit when she was ready to go back to fight with the monster.
"Did you know about how the monster was going to break the veil beforehand?"
This was the question I have to ask her no matter what. Because if possible, I could find out many answers with just a single answer.
