Hi everyone, welcome to my newest story.
Today marks 25 years since we were given one of the most beloved sports comedy movies ever, the 1996 classic Space Jam.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary, this is a retelling of the first film with a few elements from it's sequel. It's a Nickelodeon retelling staring characters from The Loud House and The Casagrandes. Fun fact: Nicktoons actually turned 30 this year.
This story is a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Ginna, who both tragically passed away back in January 2020. Kobe is the main NBA player who's gonna help the new Toon Squad.
WARNING!: This story will contain music from the original Space Jam soundtrack, including I Believe I Can Fly by the infamous R. Kelly. I know R. Kelly is very controversial but I still love that song. I do not own Space Jam, any of the songs included in the story, The Loud House, nor The Casagrandes.
So now, lets slam. And get ready to jam!
Chapter 1: I Believe I Can Fly
1984
A shooting star flew above the moon in the clear night sky. As many people would be fast asleep, one six year old boy was not. He was shooting hoops outside his family's new home near Rome. He was a special child, even from a young age, he shown a passion for the game of basketball and skill. His name is Kobe Bryant.
I believe I can fly

I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away

I see me running through that open door

"Kobe?", the young boy heard his name and saw the source was coming from his father, Joe, who came outside to find his son still awake and shooting baskets. It wasn't so much as a surprise for him as he knew Kobe loved the sport, "What are you doing out here son, it's late?"
"Couldn't sleep dad", Kobe replied.
"Well neither could we with all that noise your making. Come on let's go inside."
"Just one more? Please?"
"Alright, just one."
Kobe took a step back, and threw the ball right into the basket.
Joe was impressed, "That's good. Try another one."
"Dad, do you think one day I can play like you?"
Joe smiled, Kobe looked up to him and just like him, basketball runs through his veins as both his father and his uncle on his mother's side where NBA players, "Of course son."
"One day, I wanna play just like you."
"That's great, but maybe we should get some shut eye first. Come on", Joe and Kobe headed inside. But right before he could set foot inside the house, Kobe, still with the ball in his hand dribbled the ball as he ran back to the net and slamed another basket.
From then on, one could only image what young Kobe went on to become. Years later, he would become a star. A professional player loved by so many fans around the world, cheering him on as he played.

Okay. For some of you Kobe fans, you may or may not know that Kobe's father and his uncle were both real basketball players and that Kobe lived in Italy for a little while as a kid.
Reminder, this is a historical fiction story like the original movie. I'm trying my best to make everything about Kobe as true and real as I can. I'm a fan of Kobe and I want to honor him.
