Author's Note: I just want to make it clear that this will be the last story I will be posting until I have finished or at least gotten a considerable amount of my other three stories updated. I feel as though I need to apologize for starting so many stories before I finish others because I know that this has irritated people in the past and that isn't what I want. I promise that I haven't abandoned those stories, I'm just unsure as to how to continue them at the moment. I will get there though, I promise, and this fic is just a little way for me to do a short fic that won't take me too long to finish. Anyway, I'll stop talking now and allow you to read. Please enjoy! x

Elisabeth (Liesl)

Even though she was unable to remember the last time she had been so exhausted or experienced discomfort to such a degree, there was still a smile on Agathe's face as she looked out of the window and watched the snowfall from where she was propped up against the headboard of the bed she shared with her husband. Winter had always been her favourite season, but she had found that her love for it had increased since she had married Georg and moved to Austria. She loved Salzburg and she loved the countryside and, in her opinion, there was no sight more exquisite than the tips of the mountains that stood proudly over their villa dusted with snow in the middle of winter. It was just so gorgeous.

It was the feeling of sharp little nails scratching against her chest that pulled her from her thoughts and prompted her to turn her head, and the moment she looked at the baby girl that was nestled in her arms she smiled and pulled the shawl that she was wrapped in tighter around her to keep out the chill. She readjusted her against her chest so that she could cradle her a little more comfortably in her arms, a gentle sigh escaping her as she lowered her head to kiss her on the forehead and breathed in her delightful baby smell. 'Oh, my darling…' She whispered once she had pulled back, her heart fit to burst with love for her as she held her gaze and lifted one hand to her face so that she could stroke her cheek with the back of her palm. 'You put me through so much tonight, but I don't even mind. I would do it all again if I had to, truly.'

Not even ten minutes after she had settled down beneath the quilt and allowed her head to fall back against the cushion behind her, the door to the bedroom opened and caught her attention and she lifted her head to watch her husband take his first cautious step into the room. The two of them shared a smile as he shut the door behind him and their daughter started to fuss as she moved within the confines of the shawl, her thumb caressing the back of her hand as she shushed her for a second before turning her attention back to him. 'Georg, come here,' She told him, her voice no higher than a whisper lest she disturb her little girl, her heart racing in her chest as she watched him walk towards the bed before he removed his shoes and sat himself down in the space beside her with a trembling sigh. 'Don't be nervous, hold out your arms.'

He swept a fair, sweat-soaked curl back behind her ear before doing as he was told, his breath catching as she eased their child into his arms.

'This…' She smiled as she stroked her fingers against the dark wisps of hair on their daughter's head. 'Is our little girl.'

Tears brimmed in his eyes at her words, a lump coming to his throat as he cradled their little girl closer to his chest before moving the shawl away from her face so that he could look at her. He brushed his thumb against her ear as she stared up at him through half-lidded blue eyes, stormy blue eyes that matched his perfectly, before chuckling as she curled her fingers into his nightshirt and arched her back as she yawned. Turning his head in the direction of his wife once he had sat in silence with their baby in his arms for several long minutes, he eased an arm out from beneath her and brought it to her face so that he could cup her cheek in his palm. 'You incredible woman…' He shook his head at her in astoundment, causing her to blush as she looked up at him through her lashes before nuzzling her cheek against his palm with a sigh.

He moved his hand from her cheek to the side of her neck then, smoothing his thumb across her skin as he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers in a kiss that was long and soft and passionate all at once. For quite some time, the two of them indulged in the kiss and reveled in the closeness they shared, but before long their daughter started whimpering again and so he brought the kiss to an end and leaned his forehead against hers as he caught his breath. 'I have no idea how you did that, but I am so proud of you.' He panted, his nose brushing against hers.

'I love you.' She sighed as she opened her eyes so that she could look at him.

'And I love you,' He pecked at her lips once more. 'More than you could possibly imagine.'

Cradling their daughter to his chest with one arm, he put his free one around her shoulders before pulling her close and allowing her to curl into his side, her head tucking itself into his neck on instinct as they settled down together and watched their little girl begin to fall asleep on him. 'I can't believe how much she looks like you,' Agathe said to him as she reached out to trace the curve of her cheek, a smile on her lips.

'I never doubted that she was going to be beautiful, but she's truly exceeded all expectations that I had,' He admitted, the love he had for her deepening when she cuddled closer to him and slid an arm across his stomach while pressing tender kisses into his neck. 'She needs a name.'

'I quite liked the one you mentioned a couple of days ago.' She told him.

'Remind me?' He brushed his fingers against her upper arm.

'Elisabeth,' She tilted her head back on his shoulder to look at him. 'You and I could call her Liesl for short though. She looks like a Liesl.'

He hummed in agreement. 'She does, doesn't she?'

'Liesl von Trapp,' She tried the name on her tongue. 'It suits her.'

Georg turned his attention back to her as he ran his hand along the length of her arm. 'I couldn't feel more blessed to be able to call you my wife…' He said. 'There were so many men – men much younger than I am – that had their sights set on you, but you still chose me. Why?'

'I chose you because you were the man I fell in love with,' She told him, plain and simple. 'The ones that pined for me and fought to dance with me…they may have looked like men, but deep down they were children and that wasn't what I wanted in a husband. I wanted to marry a real man. I wanted to marry a man who would protect me and love me and defend my honour and that's exactly what I found in you,' She curled a hand into his nightshirt. 'I'm not blind. I see people looking down their noses at us because of our difference in age all the time, but I couldn't care less about them or their opinions. As far as I'm concerned, age is nothing but a number and I would have been such an idiot to have turned down your proposal solely because of our age difference. I'm the happiest I've ever been and that's all because of you, darling.'

Georg looked at her in silence for a moment before leaning in and brushing a languid kiss against her lips. 'You are so incredible.'

'Tell me something I don't know.' She teased.

The two of them chuckled before she settled down in his embrace again when his hand started running up and down her spine through her nightgown, a deep sigh escaping him as her eyes told him that she was worn out. 'You're exhausted, sweetheart, and I'm not surprised in the slightest after tonight,' He told her in a soft voice while he stroked the ends of her curls with his fingers. 'I think you should get some sleep.'

'Are you certain?' She asked. 'What about Liesl?'

'I can manage. I'll find her a nightgown and put her in her bassinet and then I'll come to bed as well, all right?' He raised a brow at her.

Agathe nodded, leaning down to kiss their daughter on the hairline before moving out of her husband's hold and starting to lie herself down. Her eyes fell closed the moment her head met the pillow and she settled down beneath the quilt, a sigh of contentment falling from her lips when she felt Georg start to stroke her hair as she drifted off to sleep. She was certain that she couldn't have loved him more if she had tried.

It took minutes for her to fall asleep and Georg felt a wave of relief wash over him when her snores filled the silence and reassured him that she was sleeping well. He turned his attention to their beautiful Liesl after drawing the covers further over her, his hand coming up to trace the outline of her face with the backs of his fingers as she slept in his arms without a care in the world. 'My beautiful Liesl…' He whispered before kissing her on the temple and shushing her when she whimpered in her sleep as he got up from the bed with her. After cradling her a little closer to his chest, he headed over to the wardrobe on the other side of the room and found her a nightgown before taking a cloth from the drawer and returning to the bed. She stirred for a moment when he laid her down, scrunching up her little nose, but soon relaxed again.

To his surprise, it didn't take him all that long to take the shawl from around her and change her into her cloth and nightgown and once he was certain that she was warm enough he carried her over to the bassinet. He laid her down slowly, not wanting to disturb her, before taking her pacifier from the nightstand and easing it into her mouth. 'Sleep well, my darling…' He stroked her cheek before moving away from her.

When he felt his eyes begin to sting he realised that it was high time for him to head to bed and get some sleep himself, so he turned off the lamp on Agathe's nightstand before walking around to his side of the bed and climbing in beside her. Once he had turned off his own lamp, he laid himself down and put his arms around his wife from behind before smiling against her shoulder when she gently mumbled his name. 'I'm here, darling, I promise' He reassured her, brushing his lips against the freckled skin at the back of her shoulder. 'You go back to sleep.'

Humming in response, she rolled over in his arms and laid her head on his chest. 'Goodnight, Georg.'

'Goodnight, Agathe,' He replied into her fringe as he laid his hand on the small of her back. 'Sleep well…'
