Chapter 6: Broom lesson

Harper was glad that she was at least allowed to dorm with the rest of the girls and not alone in her own space. All the girls of the academy were welcoming enough, and well at first distant before she insisted that they carry on with their regular routines and not give her any super special treatment, she wanted friends and a somewhat regular school life, until she figured out what she was going to do in order to survive this bizarre new world.

Harper did seek out Liz and met Amelia, her roommate.

It was another night full of girl talk and pedi's.

"Oh? Who has caught your eye?"asked Amelia excitedly.

"Well there's a cute purple-haired man, who I've heard is the prefect's assistant, didn't catch his name though" Harper started to say.

"Oh, that's Sigurd, he's a lot nicer than his emperor but there's something quite mischievous about him that I can't put my finger on…" Liz said.

"Well now that I know his name I'll have to request an audience *giggle*" Harper laughed at the silliness of it all.

~Meanwhile~

+Prefect's Office +

There were now two Prefects of the academy as should be, Randy had arrived back at the academy and Klaus couldn't be more less thrilled. Once he and Sigurd teamed up, there was bound to be trouble.

"Oh Emperor, here's the next pile of documents, you requested" Sigurd pleasantly sounded as he added to the already mountain of paper.

"Can you please stop calling me that. You're just as bad as her. I'm not all that important now that the royals have descended on campus" Gritted out Klaus miffed while still writing his newest proposal.

"Hmm? What's your problem? Has her royal highness gotten under your skin?, I just met her this afternoon, she's quite cute and I bet would be so fun to rile up, too bad his highness has such a tight rein on her, it's like they are already married(laughs)" joked Sigurd

Klaus stood all of a sudden, threw his pen on the pile of work and stormed out.

Randy spun around from his seat and added to the one manned conversation.

"Klaus has a crush can't you tell? Cause he can't yet".

"Well that's a first, too bad that I also like her and want to pursue" Sigurd told him aloft.

"Great things are going to be awkward, for the next while." Randy spun back to her desk and resumed paperwork.

Taffy came flying into the room with some papers and started to whisper in his master's ear.

Sigurd looked over, and wanted to ask but decided to keep to himself.

Harper awoke and had gotten ready for her day as usual, once she was ready she sighed and put on a mask of indifference, as a circus was about to begin.

She followed the crowds to the main pathway to the academy, there she immediately notice Klaus's black cloak within the sea of blue and called out to him.

Harper requested if she could walk around with him this morning, trying to familiarize herself better with the grounds.

Klaus smiled and said "Of course, your highness"

I was led away to an office I hadn't visited yet.

"This is my office with Prefect Randy March. He has returned from some business in the south. And of course my assistant Sigurd Curtis." Klaus introduced both men who were sitting working away through paperwork.

"of course, nice to meet you" I hedged at them.

Randy and Sigurd rose and bowed to me before letting a cute brown stuffed bear also bow to me from Randy's held out hands.

" It's true, a Princess has arrived," the little brown bear cheered.

" Oh little one, what is your name?" I inquired curiously,

"I am Taffy Milady, I was made and served by my master Randy" introduced Taffy.

"Oh how sweet, , what a delight you've created." I gushed at how cute he was.

"Princess, would you like some tea? We were just about to take a morning break once Klaus arrived?" Sigurd pointing at Klaus.

"That would be lovely gentlemen" I accepted, sitting in the nearest armchair.

Randy made a quiet sound as I sat down and Sigurd and Klaus glared at him.

"Is there something wrong?" I was puzzled.

"That's Klaus's chair, he doesn't like anyone sitting there," explained Taffy.

I made the move to sit elsewhere when Klaus gently blocked me.

"It's fine, if it's you Harper," said Klaus.

"Thank you, Prefect Klaus" I smiled gently at his clear sacrifice.

We had a lovely break before class, and I was escorted by all three of them.

Everyone has assumed that I would be placed in the same class as the deputy prefect with all the elite students, but not knowing much magic I was placed in Liz and Elias class.

We were slightly late and I had arrived just before the professor.

Liz was sitting between Yukiya and Elias, she had a rough start with being almost late if it weren't for Amelia and Elias helping me out, between the two I had 5 minutes to spare.

The bell had rung a few minutes ago and when the door opened we all gasped. Princess Harper was almost late and on top of it being escorted by all the prefects and the assistant.

The girls started whispering excitedly.

Elias leaned over to my ear.

"What is she doing? Isn't she due to meet other royals in the capitol?"

"I may be her new best friend, but I don't know everything" I responded back to him.

"Elias, hope your ready to see your brother be roasted" chimed in Luca to our right,

"Luca? When did you arrive?" asked Liz clueless.

"Two seconds ago you guys, yeesh, couldn't miss the cool entrance of the new gossip material" gushed Luca

"How many boys are interested in her?" asked Yukiya out of the blue.

Liz and the boys could only stare at him in surprise.

The final bell rang and Professor Merkulova walked in.

After classes were done for the day, everyone huddled around the hallways to get a glimpse of their new celebrity.

Liz patted her new friend on the back and wished her luck.

Harper ignored them all and walked down the hall towards the courtyard.

She had taken up Luca's earlier offer to learn how to fly a broom. More people followed her outside. This was bound to get interesting when there was already a crowd.

Luca was already waiting on her and had two brooms, he whispered in her ear briefly before they mounted and took to the air, Luca was explaining something to the princess before he showed off some maneuvers that you would likely see when the Ladilz team would play. Harper giggled at his antics and probably said something along the lines of when would she need to know those?

A few of the other boys grabbed their brooms and took flight, wanting to teach the princess as well.

Liz, Elias, Yukiya, and Amelia grouped together to watch as the crowd grew bigger.

"I thought she already knew how to fly? And she's right she won't be playing Ladilz so what more could she need to know? "asked Liz intrigued.

"You do realize that this is a giant pissing contest between the guys trying to gain the princess's attention right?" asked Yukiya out of the blue.

Elias and Liz turned red, at the mention of such vulgar terms, Amelia countered.

"I wouldn't put it so bluntly, Some of them just want to show off, yes for her hand but to show off their sport skill. Her highness knows how much attention she gains and well she's kind of a flirty type herself. She knows what she wants" Chimed Amelia, obviously in favor of her new friend.

Out of nowhere a ball of light came flying towards the princess, many lunges were attempted but all were missed, Harper saw this, shook her head and made an alternate maneuver to what Luca had shown her, and caught the ball.

All heads turned to look at the poor soul who had thrown an energy ball at the unsuspecting princess. It was Randy smiling mischievously.

Harper flew down to greet him.

She levitated to the ground and dismounted. She said a few words of praise to Randy before offering her arm to him to escort her back into the grounds.

The crowd dispersed quickly as things grew boring quite quickly. No one had gained the princesses attention but they did agree she took things a bit far especially when they weren't sure she knew how to fly.

"Women and your flirting" complained Elias walking away.

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" asked Liz, catching up to her boyfriend.

"You guys have so much power over us without realizing it, man I didn't realize it myself till it was too late" he explained.

Luca laughed at him, Yukiya shook his head and Liz's eyes glazed over before she took off ahead of them.

"Prince Elias, if there's one thing to not say to your girlfriend that is definitely it "said Luca chuckling still at his stupidity.

"If you don't want to lose that, I'd go after her right now man…"Yukiya also said to him.

Elias ran after her feeling dumb.

Klaus was still in the office when Randy and Taffy returned from their break.

"What took you so long? I thought you said small break? Look at how much work we have to get done around here!" Klaus was annoyed.

"Well you just missed her highness's performance on a broom, slightly different but she could be as good as you on a broom, the boys from the Ladilz team just challenged her and I threw a fast one at her, they all missed it but she saved herself, it was awesome. " Randy told Klaus proudly.

Klaus couldn't believe this idiot, what if he had hit her? Lucky idiot, he underestimated her. Hmm perhaps he would have to see for himself this thought on her flying skills.

At this time of the year, the magical competition was coming up and many students had signed up to compete already.

Harper sat next to Liz and started up a conversation.

"Hey, have you signed up for the magic competition?" Harper asked her excitedly

"No, Elias… doesn't want to enter, he says because you have to be in pairs of two and that I'm not ready for it, but I think he's ashamed of me that he can't bare to enter, you know he said something mean to me yesterday, and haven't talked to him since…." Liz muttered.

"Aw, what did he say?" asked Harper in concern for her friend.

" He complained about all womankind and our apparent power over men, and implied that he was stuck with me because he realized it too late and was already caught by my spell…" Liz said, tearing up again.

"Aww well I'm sure he didn't mean any real offense, but you know Liz, Elias isn't tactful with her words sometimes. Maybe you should try talking with him about it" Harper suggested.

"Yeah, I'm upset but I'm not forcing him to be with me, I thought he just wanted to, not forced to…" she replied

"Liz…" said Elias overhearing that last part.

"...Elias!" Liz said shocked, ah damn he overheard.

Elias helped her to her feet before enveloping her into a crushing hug.

"I'm so sorry for what I said to you yesterday, I didn't mean it like you thought, you're right I am with you because I want to be, not because I have to be. And if you want to enter the competition, I'm not afraid to enter with you by your side." Elias apologised fiercely with emotion.

Liz cried a bit but hugged him back muttering softly.

Harper turned away from the happy couple in discomfort and found Luca in front of her.

"Well isn't that just peachy for first thing in the morning?" he stated aloud.

"Good Morning Luca" She greeted him.

"Morning, Princess" he greeted back before taking his seat, he liked to stay when it was potions, as Liz had a nice habit of blowing up 90% of assignments in class.

Little did he know, Harper had started helping Liz with her Magic and concentration. That girl could be great, she just needed to get her head out of the clouds for once and pay attention to what she was doing and with some confidence.

The final bell had rung and Klaus entered.

Turns out Professor Merkulova was down with the flu and on leave for a few days, Klaus was taking over his class in the meantime.

Liz was even more nervous to brew a potion with Prefect Klaus around, her partner today was Harper luckily.

"Liz, don't let him get to you, remember, you have me and I'm sure I know what I'm doing by now, since I took notes and listen very carefully, now pay attention I'm going to walk you through it." said Harper grabbing her attention.

After class they were successful and even got bonus points for creativity, mostly Harper's fault, Klaus posted marks on the chalkboard before leaving, Elias came up to his girlfriend and hugged her.

"See, we finally got an A-, not my ideal of A+ but it's a start" He said cheerfully.

"Well I had Harper's help, and she gave me some tips on how to improve, so.." Liz said bashfully.

"Thank you Princess, please continue to tutor my girlfriend" Elias said bowing to me.

"Elias, get up , it's nothing, she just needs help boosting her confidence, then she'll be a real force to be reckoned with." Harper said, brushing him off.

Ah she still didn't know what it was about this academy's buddy system, really to out to people fates tied to another? That could be disastrous for some people. She could understand his stress being from an elite family, but Liz just needed support, she would grow greatly with time. At least she was tied to Elias and not Klaus, the top student in the whole academy, his grades and standing to plummet because of her ? Harper couldn't even imagine the terror. Hmm on the thought of Klaus , Harper made her way to his office.

She was having tea with the prefects and learning more about things.

"So are any of you planning on competing in the upcoming magic competition?:"Harper asked.

"Well yes, Randy is pairing up with Azusa and Klaus and myself are together." explained Sigurd.

"Ah I see " Harper laminated.

"Were you hoping to enter the contest?" asked Klaus.

"No, I'm not quite ready yet to take on the school's best wizards, perhaps next year." she said, just curious.

A/N: Ah just some more chill school scenes and settling in. hee Klaus is such a softy and Harper still hasn't officially been granted the title of princess yet but she got tired of correcting everyone so she just goes with it for now. Elias and Liz are so cute, which kinda makes me want to replay to some of Elia's sequel, also if you haven't played it, I recommend it. I'm still salty about never getting a Luca sequel but oh well.

Also this fic is completed at 17 chapters, and the first draft had been finished a while back but there were things I wanted to change as we continued to get more boys routes in the later game before the game itself ended. I'm editing chapter by chapter and felt like getting back into it, probably just taking a break from my main projects. I don't know when the next update for this story will be as the fandom is kinda dead too but I felt like updating today.
