Lara's pov
Today was the day. It was quite good that Kryptonians don't marry for love, because there was no such thing between myself and the match my father found for me, Zeta Rho, of the House of Rho. I dreamt of marrying for hope, love and dreams, but alas, this was the path carved out for me. I'm brought out of my thoughts by my father as I adjust my wedding robes and my adorned hair one final time
"Are you ready?"
Withholding a resigned sigh, I nod
"Yes, Uki."
He smiles, albeit it a small and quick one, takes my arm, and we begin our walk down the aisle. I was already an accomplished scientist, politician and even a ranked general, a very studious and learned individual, but could I ever learn to love someone I barely knew? Time would tell...
I am once again brought out of my thoughts
"Lara, you look radiant."
Managing a quick smile, I returned the pleasantries
"Thank you. You look quite handsome, my dear Zeta Rho."
Barf in my mouth.
The ceremony was soon over, and I had to hold back from acting against m father's wishes when the minister inquired about any opposition to this union. Interestingly enough, a friend of mine, a colleague in the scientific field, Jor-El, seemed to be struggling too. Huh. But my destiny now laid with Zeta- Rho. I could not comprehend how we were matched to begin with, we were incompatible in every sense of the word other than biologically.
*timeskip*
I could hardly believe this. It couldn't be. I was with child? Though this could potentially tie me to Zeta - Rho forever, a love like no other was encompassing my heart in regards to my unborn child. My child might not have lucked out in the father department, but that did not mean I would not love my son or daughter.
Zeta broke me out of my thoughts
"What has got you so quiet tonight?"
Forcing a graceful smile on my lips, mostly derived from impending motherhood, I replied
"I am with child. We are to be parents."
He smiled, and almost seemed like a loving man for a split second
"I am going to be a father. I am going to be a father!"
Smile on his face, he squeezed my hand and exited the room, to work on something he had been developing. My smile grew as my hand rested upon my still flat stomach
"It is just you and me, my child."
(A/N: Uki, per lingojam kryptonian dictionary, means father. I will be sprinkling some Kryptonian words throughout the story, always from the same source)
