Well, here we are, at the end. Not the end of the story (yet), but the end of Zootopia as we know it, thanks to the titanic clash that's about to happen.
I want to say thanks to the people who reviewed the previous chapter: djpj7652, Wolfx1120, seakard, Metro (DancouMaryuu), Cimar of Turalis WildeHopps, GodzillaMaster
And thanks to DancouMaryuu for proofreading this for me.

The End of Zootopia
Beneath Zootopia sat a system of emergency tunnels and bunkers. They had been built before the Climate Wall had been constructed, in the eventuality of either the destruction of the Climate Wall, or a nuclear strike on Zootopia by an enemy power.
Lionheart never thought that 'enemy power' would refer to the Animalian government itself, but there it was: shortly before evacuation of Zootopia had been completed, Lionheart had received a call from the President of Animalia: they were going to launch a nuclear strike on Zootopia in the hopes of wiping out both creatures. Serizawa had protested – partly because a nuclear strike had been attempted on Titanus Gojira when it was much smaller, and it had failed. Nevertheless, there was absolutely nothing Lionheart could do: Zootopia was lost, whether it was by nuclear strike or by two Titans battling in the city.
After confirming evacuation had been completed, Lionheart and his entourage had made their way into the emergency tunnels. They were planning on making their way away to the bunker in the northern city limits. The Monarch team had separated from them and headed for the lifeboats departing from the southern shore. Serizawa had said something about monitoring the situation visually, and from a distance. Lionheart didn't get it – he needed to remain behind until he was satisfied the city had been evacuated. Because of that, he had no time to evacuate to the boats before the two Titans met.
"But, sir…" Mallory spoke up, as the entourage proceeded through the tunnels. "A nuclear strike?!"
"I know!" Lionheart snapped. "As I already said, there is nothing I can do to override a decision like that from the President! If I could, I would! What would you have me do? It's not like I can go outside and ask them to please take their fight somewhere else!"
Lionheart sighed in frustration.
"A nuclear strike is the best option for taking both of them out."
"But you heard Serizawa: they couldn't even kill Godzilla back in 1954 with a nuclear strike!" Mallory protested. "And he was half the size!"
"Nuclear weapons are much stronger now than they were back then."
Even though Lionheart said that, he could not shake the fear that, ultimately, even this extreme measure would not be enough.
Judy leaned against the railing, hardly believing her eyes. Smoke poured from the gutted remains of buildings crushed in the wake of the two Titans now headed for each other. Nick stood next to her, a backpack containing what they needed on his back.
The small fleet of boats that carried the evacuating citizens of Zootopia headed straight for the shores of the Tri-Burrows, south-west of Zootopia. As the boats passed underneath the Bunnyburrow Link train line, Judy looked up in shock at the damage caused by Shin Godzilla's arrival in Zootopia. The memory of travelling that railway line when she first arrived in Zootopia returned to her.
"Shizen wa osoroshī koto ga arimasu," came a voice next to Judy. She turned to see a spectacled hare looking out towards Zootopia.
"Nature can be terrifying," Judy said. The hare turned to Judy.
"You speak Hinodese?"
"Not much. My uncle Jack taught me some phrases when he visited my family when I was younger."
"Jack? Then you must be Judy Hopps-san. Jack-san has said a lot about you."
"Yeah, two outliers in a family of conformers," Judy chuckled.
"And if you weren't the world might not be the same place."
"I tell her that all the time," Nick interjected. He held a paw out for the hare. "Nick Wilde, Judy's partner in the ZPD, and in real life."
"Ishiro Serizawa," the hare took Nick's paw and shook.
"So, you and Uncle Jack work together?" Judy asked.
"Yes," Serizawa responded. "As part of Monarch. We study Titans. My research focuses on Gojira."
"Excuse me," Nick remarked, "but you said 'Titans'. Plural. You mean to tell us there's more than just these two?"
"We have found seventeen, including Gojira," Serizawa nodded. "However, the others are all dormant. Nuclear testing awoke Gojira in the 1950s, and it seems the efforts to kill it in 1954 may have produced this new Titan… this Shin Gojira. We believe that Gojira reacted to Shin Gojira after the Janjira meltdown brought it in to feed."
"And the crazy way it's grown?" Nick asked.
"Perhaps a consequence of the radiation it fed upon. It's possible that Shin Gojira started as a descendant species of Gojira, and that the mutations triggered by radiation have caused it to devolve."
"I don't suppose it's going to devolve right out of existence? Is there no way to stop it?"
There was a pause, before Serizawa replied.
"Nature has a balance, a way to restore order. I believe that Gojira is that balance."
"Are you suggesting… that we let them fight?" Judy asked.
"Yes," Serizawa nodded. "Let them fight."
The conversation was cut short when a thunderous roar reached their ears. The three turned back to look at Zootopia.
Smoke and fire trailing in its wake, Titanus Gojira had reached Shin Godzilla.
SKREEEEEEE!
GYAAAAAOON!
The two Godzillas stared each other down, as if daring the other to make the first move. Savanna Central lay in flames already, the result of the two Titans' paths towards one another.
SKREEE!
Titanus Gojira made the first move. Closing the distance, it stretched its giant hands out and grabbed at Shin Godzilla's chest, shoving hard. Shin Godzilla slid backwards, tripping over its legs and crashing into the remains of Precinct One. Its tail waved in the air as it attempted to right itself. Titanus Gojira lunged, attempting to grab the tail, but the tail swung at it, knocking Titanus Gojira back.
Shin Godzilla got to its feet, watching as its opponent struggled back up itself. The bright red on its dorsal plates started to glow even brighter. The light turned purple as Shin Godzilla opened its mouth wide, its lower jaw splitting in two.
Titanus Gojira snorted, its dorsal plates glowing blue in response. To an onlooker, it would have seemed as if Titanus Gojira was calling Shin Godzilla's bluff.
SKREEE!
Not wanting to wait, Titanus Gojira ran forward, catching Shin Godzilla square on the jaw with an open palm. Shin Godzilla stumbled again, allowing Titanus Gojira time to grab it by the throat and push it towards the city centre. The glow dissipated from Shin Godzilla's dorsal plates as it let out an angry cry.
GYAAAAA!
As Shin Godzilla fell down, Titanus Gojira stood still. The blue glow on its dorsal plates became stronger, spreading to its gills. Its eyes lit up as a low rumble started building to a crescendo. Shin Godzilla's eyes fixed on its enemy, and it let out another roar.
GYAAAAON!
In response, Titanus Gojira opened its jaws. Blue light spilled out of its throat in the form of a large stream. The stream exploded against Shin Godzilla's back. Shin Godzilla let out a cry of pain as one of its largest dorsal plates blew clean off its back.
The stream of atomic energy ceased. Blood gushed from Shin Godzilla's back from the place its missing dorsal plate had been.
Shin Godzilla let out an angry roar.
GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOON!
Shin Godzilla's red glow once again changed to purple as it glared at Titanus Gojira. It once again opened its mouth and split its jaw. Titanus Gojira once again called its bluff, intensifying the glow on its own dorsal plates in challenge.
This time, there was no bluff: a stream of ash vomited out of Shin Godzilla's mouth. Titanus Gojira stumbled, turning its head away from it. The ash flew through the district as if a river of radioactive death.
Then nictitating membranes covered Shin Godzilla's eyes as the ash turned to red hot fire. Titanus Gojira cried out as it staggered backwards, away from the flames. The ash that had been spread before ignited. Within seconds, Savanna Central was in flames.
"No…" Judy gasped, watching in horror as Zootopia was set ablaze.
"Shin Gojira… a terrifying creature," Serizawa observed.
"You think?" Nick replied, his voice monotone.
"A nuclear strike is imminent," Serizawa remarked. Nick and Judy looked at Serizawa sharply, both in shock.
"So Zootopia dies anyway," Judy said.
"Will we even be far enough away from the city?" Nick asked.
"I have been told that they will ensure we are clear of the city before deploying the bomb," Serizawa replied. "I have my doubts that it will do anything other than cause needless destruction. The Animalian government tried to kill Gojira in the fifties using nuclear weapons."
"Clearly, it didn't stick," Nick said. "What makes them think this will do anything?"
"Now you understand," Serizawa responded.
As fire streamed from Shin Godzilla's mouth, Titanus Gojira steadied itself. It breathed deep, its eyes and gills once again aglow, and unleashed another stream of atomic energy which split the incoming fire. The energy struck Shin Godzilla and it staggered, but the fire did not stop. As it fell backwards, the fiery stream was shot into the air. Shin Godzilla angled its head, aiming at Titanus Gojira. The fire started to become thinner, yet more intense. The noise became an ear-splitting screech as the stream turned the same purple hue as its dorsal glow.
The heat ray struck Titanus Gojira straight in the chest, leaving a searing mark as Titanus Gojira fell backwards. As Shin Godzilla got back to its feet, something above caught its notice: a much more immediate threat.
Northram Grummer B-2 Spirit Bomber Number One
The ram pilot spotted the targets below. It was difficult to comprehend. Three bombers had been sent, each carrying a nuclear warhead. They all had prayed that they would only need the one, but given the targets were gigantic monsters laying waste to Zootopia, the Animalian military was taking no chances.
"Bomber Number One, dropping payload," the pilot announced. He pulled the trigger, dropping his nuclear warhead straight for the two creatures.
Shin Godzilla somehow knew. It knew what was inbound. There was no way to avoid it. And it couldn't possibly turn itself in time to counter it.
It didn't need to. It leaned forward, feet planting firmly into the ground. The glow from its spines intensified. Several shafts of light burst from its dorsal plates, into the sky and at the foreign object dropping towards it. The laser-like streams caught the falling projectile, destroying it before it could reach its target and detonate. Shin Godzilla somehow knew where to aim: it leaned, taking out the bomber that had launched the projectile.
The remaining two B-2 bombers circled around, trying to avoid the shafts of atomic energy. The second was clipped, and exploded before the pilot could even eject.
The streams from Shin Godzilla's back stopped, and the remaining B-2 circled around, as if aiming to drop its payload and avenge its brethren. Shin Godzilla angled its head upward, opened its mouth, and shot its heat ray into the air, destroying the last B-2.
By the time the bombers were destroyed, Titanus Gojira had gotten back onto its feet. It readied another volley of atomic breath, but Shin Godzilla sensed its presence and aimed its own heat ray in Titanus Gojira's direction. The beam struck Titanus Gojira's flank, before searing into the earth below. The ground underneath gave way and Titanus Gojira fell again. Titanus Gojira crawled away from the attack and headed for the open ocean, as if meaning to give itself distance to rally for another attack, or perhaps to allow itself time to heal from the onslaught.
Shin Godzilla aimed the beam at random, slicing through buildings and decimating Zootopia's skyline. Fires raged out of control in the wake of Shin Godzilla's attack. Buildings collapsed. The beam struck the Climate Wall, and the part it struck exploded.
Soon enough, Shin Godzilla's atomic heat ray reverted to a stream of fire bellowing from its mouth. The stream fizzled out and Shin Godzilla stepped forward carefully. It stopped in front of what used to be Zootopia Central Station, and it froze. The light faded from its dorsal plates.
Shin Godzilla was silent, and Zootopia was no more.
Well, not as long a wait for this chapter.
I took some minor inspiration from Wobbly Works' Legendary Godzilla Vs Shin Godzilla video. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it. It is really well put-together. Beyond that, I took deliberate inspiration from Godzilla Vs Kong and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
At one point, I considered mirroring Shin Godzilla even more closely with Lionheart attempting to escape via helicopter, which would be shot down by Shin Godzilla. However, as I wrote, I figured out that it just wouldn't work out in the context of the story.
Next time: the residents of Zootopia try to figure out what to do now. The two Godzillas rest, rebuilding their energy ready for their final showdown in Zootopia's remains.
Don't forget to leave a review! Until next time!
