This is it, folks! The final showdown! This won't be the longest chapter – partly because it's all Shin vs Legendary.

THE BATTLE OF THE KINGS

ZNN News Report

"This is Peter Moosebridge, reporting live from the Zootopia Evacuation and Response Centre. The sea-faring creature, which is being referred to as 'Godzilla' by some, has been spotted heading back towards Zootopia. Our sources report that Monarch is concerned that Godzilla has been 'supercharged' following an attempt by the military to destroy it.

A Monarch spokesmammal has told us that Godzilla is likely to make landfall within the hour. The outcome of the next battle between these two Titans is uncertain, but Monarch seems to be hedging its bets on Godzilla defeating the invading Titan.

In other news, Mayor Lionheart and his entourage have been successfully evacuated from the Meadowlands District and are reported to be making their way to the Zootopia Evacuation and Response Centre in order to help continuing efforts to monitor and manage the situation. We will keep our viewers updated as events unfold."

Savanna Central southern shore, Zootopia

This time, when the tsunami hit, there were no mammals to flee from it. Nor was anybody present to witness the bright blue light beneath the surface. Titanus Gojira's spines broke the surface, the blue glow blinding to anybody who could have witnessed it. That light also spilled from its gills and eyes.

Within minutes, it came ashore. A snarl erupted from its maw as it stood up and locked on its target. It stepped forward out of the sands of the southern shore and started stomping towards Shin Godzilla. Soon, the buildings at its feet gave way to burned husks. The blue shine in its dorsal plates grew brighter, and a low thrumming came from inside Titanus Gojira. Not waiting for its target to awaken, Titanus Gojira opened its jaws and let loose a fury of atomic breath.

The radioactive vapour struck Shin Godzilla and it stumbled. Its dorsal plates started to glow red – it was now awake. Turning towards its assailant, it let out a loud roar of anger and frustration. Its dorsal plates glowed purple and it opened its jaws. Its own beam, a Radiation Heat Ray, screeched from in front of its mouth, but Titanus Gojira was already on the move to avoid it. Shin Godzilla tracked Titanus Gojira with its beam. As Titanus Gojira ran, it charged up another stream of atomic energy, firing it straight ahead. The energy struck Shin Godzilla, and it stumbled, its own beam shot into the sky as it fell.

Titanus Gojira continued its advance on Shin Godzilla, letting out a bellowing roar as it grew closer. Shin Godzilla's tail swung in the air as its owner tried to right itself, the purple glow reaching into the mangled end. A crack sounded, and a beam shot from the tip of the tail, aimed at Titanus Gojira. The beam seared at its right shoulder, but within moments, it had closed the gap and seized hold of Shin Godzilla's tail. Letting out a loud bellow, Titanus Gojira tugged at the appendage, dragging Shin Godzilla off-balance slightly.

Titanus Gojira sank its teeth into the side of Shin Godzilla's tail, tugging at the appendage with its claws. Within seconds, Titanus Gojira pulled a full third of Shin Godzilla's tail clean off. A low thrumming noise built up within Titanus Gojira, and it obliterated the tail tip in its maw with its atomic breath. It turned towards its target and let out another atomic breath, which blew into Shin Godzilla's side. The mutant Godzilla stumbled towards the City Centre, where the tallest buildings of Zootopia still stood. It clambered to its feet, its dorsal spines flashing lavender as it turned, opened its mouth, and fired back at Titanus Gojira. This time, the shot hit Titanus Gojira square in the chest, and it stumbled backwards, its own atomic attack striking a nearby cluster of buildings.

Smoke poured from the wound on Titanus Gojira's chest, the insides emitting the same blue glow as that on its dorsal plates and its gills. It bellowed loudly as it got back to its feet, ducked low, stretched out its arms, and charged.

Its opponent opened its jaws again, but this time Shin Godzilla's Thermal Flame spewed forth instead of the purple beam. The stream of fire only slowed Titanus Gojira's charge down.

The older Titan still closed the gap, grabbing at Shin Godzilla's throat and shoving hard. The stream of fire pouring from its mouth shot into the sky, ballooning into a mushroom cloud. Titanus Gojira seized the top of Shin Godzilla's head and the bottom of its jaws and forced them closed. Shin Godzilla struggled, smoke pouring from the gaps between its teeth. Its gills and dorsal plates grew brighter. Its small arms flailed uselessly. It managed to raise one of its legs and kick Titanus Gojira back. Rolling over, it opened its mouth and spewed out ashes. The red glow of its dorsal plates started to dim.

Before it could get to its feet, Titanus Gojira slammed into it, grabbed it by the dorsal plates, and blasted another beam of atomic energy onto it. It seemed as though Shin Godzilla might have evolved tougher dorsal plates during its hibernation, because this time no dorsal plate was blown off. It retaliated with a swipe of its tail. Titanus Gojira stumbled, giving Shin Godzilla time to get to its feet again. Its dorsal plates flashed purple and it opened its mouth, spewing forth its Radiation Heat Ray. The Ray struck Titanus Gojira in the back, searing one of its dorsal plates. Titanus Gojira let out an anguished cry as the beam stopped. It let out a bellowing snort, and got on all-fours. Letting out a loud roar, it charged forward on all four limbs, its dorsal spines glowing brightly as it closed the gap and clamped its jaws on Shin Godzilla's leg. Shin Godzilla cried out as it fell. Titanus Gojira fired its atomic breath at point-blank range, searing Shin Godzilla's leg. It performed a death-roll as it did so, attempting to tear Shin Godzilla's leg off, but Shin Godzilla clocked it in the jaw with its free leg, forcing Titanus Gojira to let go. Titanus Gojira attempted to latch on to Shin Godzilla's back again, but this time it shot its dorsal plate beams into the air, searing Titanus Gojira again. Shin Godzilla returned to its feet. Titanus Gojira shook itself off and, with a bellowing cry, started forward again. Shin Godzilla turned and fired its Radiation Heat Ray again, but this time it didn't last long before reverting to its Thermal Flame. Titanus Gojira responded with its atomic breath, and the two collided and coalesced. Drawing more on its power, Titanus Gojira's beam pushed through the Thermal Flame and struck Shin Godzilla clean in the face, knocking it over.

Titanus Gojira took its chances. As if sensing that Shin Godzilla was nearly out of energy again, it ran forward, its dorsal plates glowing brighter, the thrumming of its energy buildup reaching a fever pitch. It seized Shin Godzilla's head, and forced its jaws open. Shin Godzilla struggled, but it was useless. Titanus Gojira fired its atomic breath straight down Shin Godzilla's throat. The red glow on Shin Godzilla turned purple, then blue. While its skin had become hardened to Titanus Gojira's atomic breath, its insides were not so hardened – the pressure of its onslaught began to show as blue energy began to seep from Shin Godzilla's gills. Streams of blue energy burst out from under Shin Godzilla's skin.

Titanus Godzilla's glow faded as it stopped its atomic breath, and it dropped Shin Godzilla and stepped back. Shin Godzilla's adaptation wasn't nearly fast enough to stop what was happening.

The energy Titanus Gojira had poured into it had triggered the equivalent of a reactor meltdown within Shin Godzilla. Its skin started to melt. It tried to stand but found its legs could no longer bear its weight. With the last of its energy, it let out a low, mournful death cry.

And then there was nothing left but bones, which collapsed under their own weight without muscle to hold them up. Titanus Gojira, breathing heavily after the exertion, watched intently, as if unsure whether the skeleton might get up and fight.

When nothing happened, Titanus Gojira turned round and let out a victorious roar. When it finished, it collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

Shin Godzilla was dead, and Titanus Gojira, despite its victory, had used all its power and succumbed to unconsciousness.

I said this would be short, but that's because I did not want to draw it out. I included quite a few references in the fight to Godzilla films past. Can you spot them all?

The next chapter is the last chapter! It's the wrap-up.
