Qrow jolted awake. The nightmare of the battle still fresh in his mind. It was a few seconds before he regained his senses, and he looked around. He was in a hospital room that looked Atlesian, and standing in the doorway was General James Ironwood. The metal man took a step forward and Qrow reached for his weapon, but realizing it wasn't there, he jumped out of the bed and tried to assume a fighting stance, only for his legs to give out. Ironwood caught him and sat him back down on the bed.

"Qrow, I'm sorry for what happened out there, and for not getting to you in time." Sorrow overtook his eyes as he stood in front of Qrow.

"I take it your semblance has ran out then," the old huntsman stated. "But what do you mean you couldn't get there in time? What happened?"

"After you went to rescue Oscar from the whale, I didn't send any soldiers after you. I thought it be better if you died there so you wouldn't get in my way. We observed the battle from the academy and were surprised that you were actually winning, and that's when my Mettle weakened. Seeing the possibility of victory without such extremes-"

"Get to the point already." Qrow cut him off. "What happened out there? Is everybody alright? Do you have any information on who that man was?"

Ironwood's head sunk. "You're all accounted for, except for Ruby. When we saw him begin to attack, I mobilized the air ships and sent them to your aid, but by the time they got there, he had beaten all of you and threw himself off the side of Atlas with her on his shoulder. We went after them when he survived the landing, but we lost them in a snowstorm. We're doing our best to locate her. Everyone else is in critical condition." At that moment a soldier came running into the room.

"General, we have something on radar." Ironwood turned to face him.

"Is it a grimm?"

"I don't know sir. There's only one but it's moving fast. Much faster then anything should be able to on foot and it's headed straight for Mantle." Ironwood rushed out the door following the soldier to the command center.

"Lock on target." Buttons were pressed and a noise went off. "Get me a visual." Another set of buttons were pressed and a screen flared to life, showing a man covered in pitch black armor racing across the tundra outside the city. "ETA?"

"Approximately ten minutes sir."

"Ready the Ace Ops. Winter, go with them." The general turned toward his second.

"Yes sir." She began to walk out the door.

"And Winter." She turned back to him. "Go for the kill."

"Yes sir."

As Komoth ran along he saw some sort of object flying towards him. He decided to ignore it and kept running, until it was almost on top of him. It was at that moment he rolled away and came up with the flat of his sword across his body in a block. The strange object landed and opened, revealing five people, one of which had a tail. Why, he didn't really care.

"What are you doing in a place like this?" He asked the strange group of people.

"We could ask you the same thing," the woman with the white hair responded. She drew the sword on her waist and aimed the tip at him.

"Oh, I see, you've come to fight me." He laughed and dropped the block. "No, you've come to die," and he charged them.

Harriet jumped in between Winter and Komoth, knocking him down for a second before he stood again. Elm landed in front of him from a jump and struck him with her hammer, only for him to block the strike and swing his own weapon straight into her side, tearing through most of her aura and ripping her out of the ground despite her roots. He felt a weapon hit him in the back of the head and fly away. Komoth watched where it went and saw it came from the guy with a dog tail.

Marrow caught his boomerang and snapped his fingers. "Stay!" Komoth froze in place just long enough for Vine to grab and tie him down to the surrounding rock. Winter came up in front of him and swung for his neck, but he broke Vine's semblance and rammed her with his shoulder. The spikes on his right pauldron dug into her body and she was sent flying. "Stay!" Komoth stopped for another second before breaking free and charging Marrow who dove out of the way right before he could be chopped in half.

Harriet began to run around him and pummeling the giant with her metal fists. Based on what she had seen so far, there was no way he could keep up with her, but that's when she was hit with a shockwave that sent her flying as well. She landed on the ground about thirty feet away from him and tried to stand. Before she could, Komoth stood over her and raised his sword which was now glowing purple. He brought it down on her head, the first strike shattering her aura and the multiple strikes that followed obliterated her down to the waist.

Vine tried to hit him with a nearby boulder, but Komoth raced out of the way at speeds they didn't think he was capable of achieving. He severed the soldier's aura arms in ten different places by the time he actually got to him. Vine's aura shattered and Komoth ran him through with the Bereaver. Elm tried to hit him with her hammer, but he seemed to phase behind her, hit her in the head knocking her off her feet, and stabbed her in the face.

"Three down, two to go," he stated. The man flew forward at hyperspeed, bulldozing through Winter and striking Marrow in the chest with his shoulder, fire trailing along the ground behind him The faunus was sent flying and collided with a nearby rock, cracking it. His aura shattered. Komoth stood over the unconscious man and raised his sword. The next thing he knew he was incased in a layer of thick ice. It took him no time at all to figure out who had done it. She must be related to the other one. He pushed against the ice and shattered it within a few seconds, bringing the Bereaver down into Marrow's spine.

He turned toward his final opponent, and began to walk forward. She had some sort of glowing white monster behind her that looked different from anything he had ever seen before. Winter stood before him with a manticore at her side. It charged and lept through the air at him, only for the sword to cleave it in half. The form dispersed and Winter was shocked at how easily her summon had been bested. Then she felt a blade across her throat, and she stopped.

"Good idea, after all, you wouldn't want to end up like your friends would you?" he taunted her. She could feel an impressive heat radiating off of him. "Before I give you my request, is there any you have?"

"What do you want with us, and where did you take Ruby?" She snarled at him.

"So, that's what her name is. She is guarded and relatively unharmed. As for what I want, I crave knowledge. Go back to your leader and tell them to give me all the knowledge they have. I will return in seven days, and if it isn't piled in front of the city wall by the time I get back, I will slaughter everyone inside. If you comply I will give the girl back to you." The knife fell away from her throat and Komoth materialized in front of her before running off in the same direction he came from.

Winter fell to her knees. "He's incredibly powerful. He killed the others so quickly." Tears started running down the side of her face. "How is that even possible? We were the best huntsmen in the kingdom, and he made such short work of us." She looked toward the horizon in the direction of the setting sun, the same way Komoth was going.
