(I apologise for not updating this story for a while and putting it on hold but I think I have finally got back into writing this. I will also be updating those stories that are active and haven't had an update in a year. I also apologise for that for I have had an autistic burnout and have been struggling to get back into story writing. Again I am sorry and I will do my best to keep writing and finish all stories that I have posted and any new ones I start.)

Life With Father
Chapter 17
We must obey father.
Eclipse once again appeared in the centre of the Black Comet and bowed his head down at his father floating in front of him. He never said a word and never moved a muscle for he knew if he did then he would also be punished for it.
"What is the meaning of your sudden emotional behaviour?" Black Doom demanded to know with a frustrated growl.
"First Shadow and now Eclipse, what is going on with them two that they feel the need to disobey and associate with those pests." Black Doom thought as his anxieties were growing a little more but kept them fully to himself.
"I was concerned about Shadow when I didn't get an answer from him after calling out to him five times. I thought he was dead father, thought you sentenced him to death for questioning you." Eclipse calmly said and chose his words very carefully for if he said anything that indicated anything more than a small amount of concerned he was going to be in for it.
"You were concerned about a brother you know is replaceable? You do not show this much concern when your other brethren fall to their deaths. I know you and Shadow have formed a strong bond but you need to understand I can take his or your life away whenever I feel like. Right now I am getting to that point where I want to take his and your life away. You both are not behaving like you usually do and for that reason you and he will stay here and not leave unless I say so." Black Doom seriously said with a firm expression in his eyes.
"You knew me and Shadow were close?" Eclipse whispered with slightly wide eyes and slowly looked up at his father, he was so sure they were careful not to seem too close.
"Nothing gets passed me my child, not even a bond between brothers. I can understand why it happened and I have no major issues but what I do not tolerate is you both frolicking around together getting comfortable with the enemy like they were your family. From now until we are done here you and Shadow are to stay here until further notice. Now leave and do not disobey me." Black Doom firmly said with frustration in his voice then ordered for his son to leave with a warning look to do as told or there will be painful consequences.
Eclipse bowed his head then chaos controlled away, appearing in Shadows personal room. He looked over at Shadow flat out on his back with eyes closed and breathing evenly. Shadow still looking bloody, bruised and burned on his front and head but not as bad compared to almost an hour ago. Eclipse sighed and walked over then sat at the end of the sponge like slab and waited for signs that Shadow was out of unconscious.
"I swear I will not allow us to die and I will ensure we do as we are told from now on even if it means I need to keep you on a leash brother." Eclipse vowed in a quiet whisper as he watched Shadow rest.
Meanwhile…
"This is going to take a while and I still need to get that Emerald before Black Doom finds it." Sonic thought as he landed on his feet while glaring at half a dozen alien soldiers he still had left to fight.
Suddenly one of the large aliens screeched then combusted into a gooey slop onto the floor making Sonic raise a brow in question. The remaining five turned away from Sonic and faced whoever it was that destroyed their brother. Rouge stood there holding out a special weapon and was grinning madly then fired it at another, the alien had the same fate as the first.
"Need a hand over here blue!?" Rouge called out with some amusement as she fired again and hit another, leaving only three left.
Sonic grinned and charged at one then jumped, curled into a ball and shot himself at one in the back. Rouge was now being fired at so she moved quick to avoid the shots while also shooting back. She had two on her ass whereas Sonic only had the one.
"I know where the Chaos Emerald is and GUN have people heading to it as we speak!" Rouge called as she dodged another laser then fired her special weapon.
Her shot only scraped the alien on its right side but it was enough to stun it and make it stop moving. Rouge took this opportunity and fired again. This time it was a perfect hit and the alien exploded into the green slop it was. As this was happening Sonic had shot himself at the alien he was fighting for the third time and that hit was hard enough to cause a lot of damage, making the alien keel over and hold its stomach. Sonic landed on his feet, curled his hand into a fist then charged forwards fast. He swung his fist back then when he got close enough he thrust it forwards. His fist collided with the alien and it screeched loud before going pop.
"You do know they will lose that Emerald within minutes right!" Sonic called back as he stood straight and turned around to look in Rouge's direction.
Rouge fired a few rounds at the last alien fast, hitting it every time. The alien cried out in pain then went pop like all the others. Rouge sighed with satisfaction then lowered her weapon. She looked back at Sonic with a knowing grin that he was talking the truth, they will lose that Emerald.
"Which is why I came to assist you blue so you better start running east from here and make sure they do not." Rouge called back with her grin widening then she spread her wings and took flight after jumping into the air.
"Right lets go get that Emerald." Sonic whispered to himself with a determined look then dashed off.
Sonic never stopped and never slowed down until he came to a clearing where a mini war was going on between GUN and Black Arm soldiers. He stood with a dry expression as he watched one of the humans cry out when shot. The guy hit the floor and grabbed his leg, looking as if he was in a lot of pain. In truth alls that happened was his leg got grazed by a laser.
"Talk about a very low pain threshold." Sonic mumbled to himself then dashed forward to help protect the Chaos Emerald.
Aboard the Black Comet Shadow was finally starting to wake up. He slowly began to sit up while opening his eyes. They locked onto Eclipse and widened a little in surprise as he didn't think he would have his brother in here with him.
"Father wants us to remain here until he sees fit. He is still very angry brother and I feel it best to do as he says." Eclipse semi seriously said as he frowned deeply at Shadow but was so glad to see Shadow was fine.
"So he had us on lockdown, I get why he would with me but why you as well?" Shadow asked as he was getting a little puzzled by this.
"Granted I didn't go and start questioning him like you did but I am involved with what has been going on. He knows you know, he knows we have a strong bond and care about what happens to one another." Eclipse said with a sigh as he looked away from Shadow and stared at the entrance to Shadows room.
"How?" Shadow asked with some shock as he was positive they were blocking their father from knowing their feelings for one another.
"I broke down when I couldn't feel you or got an answer from you. I suppose with my guard down he got access to how I feel yet he said he has always known. I guess what he got from me a couple of hours ago was conformation of his suspicions about our strong brotherly relationship." Eclipse said with little emotion in his voice as he continued to look at the entrance.
"I'm to blame for all this, if I just kept my mouth shut then…" Shadow sighed a little sadly as he bowed his head but was cut short before he can say all he wanted to say.
"Yes Shadow I told you to not speak out to father and to just drop it. There is no point in dwelling on what has happened, we cannot change the past. What we do now is to do what we can to make father see we are still trusted and obedient. We need to show him we are still capable and needed so we continue to exist." Eclipse seriously said as he finally turned his head and looked at Shadow, watching Shadow lift his head up and look back.
"Right, yes you are right. So what do we do? We are not allowed to leave the comet and I really do not think father will be happy if we go up to him and ask to continue with our roles in the invasion." Shadow said as he was unsure how to even prove himself to his father and show his willingness in doing anything asked of him.
"We stay here like he wants and wait for him to give us an order. There really isn't much else we can do at this point. It is like I said, father is still very mad and he will punish us if we dare to ask to leave or even question his decision. We are in enough trouble Shadow and I believe we are moments away from no longer being alive." Eclipse said while keeping his serious tone when replying to his brother.
"Yeah ok but…" Shadow began but was once again cut short.
"No Shadow we stay here like father wants and prove to him we are still loyal to him by obeying him." Eclipse firmly said with some aggression in his tone, narrowing his eyes in a deadly serious manner at Shadow.
Shadow was taken back by how suddenly his brother became mad at him for something as simple as trying to reply back. He frowned at Eclipse deeply and too narrowed his eyes.
"Yes I understand that Eclipse, I am not an idiot, and I was only going to say what if they end up coming here?" Shadow growled with frustration and was feeling annoyed with Eclipse.
"Look I'm sorry Shadow, I'm just scared for us. If they do come up here then father will deal with it accordingly. Until then we keep our heads low and stay out of trouble." Eclipse said with a sigh and dropped his harsh serious look and tone.
"Then we make a start and see if our brothers up here need our assistance. I do not feel right if I stay in my room and not help them if they are in need of it." Shadow calmly said with a faint smile at Eclipse.
"Great plan and if we are lucky father might witness our willingness in helping still." Eclipse said happily as he stood up and was grinning at Shadow.
"Then he may allow us to leave and continue our roles in the invasion." Shadow said back in the same manner then too got to his feet.
"Exactly so lets get going and I have the perfect idea in how we can help our brothers." Eclipse winked as he grabbed Shadows wrist then teleported them out of Shadows room.
Meanwhile…
"Sir more just keep turning up and we're, ahh!" A soldier called into his communicator then was shot with a laser, it hitting him in the back, and he fell down dead.
"Come on guys, don't stop to talk on communicators!" Sonic called out as he did a quick side step to avoid a laser coming his way.
"It will distract you all and you will end up dead!" Sonic added with a shake of his head.
"It's not like you are anything like me and my friends, we can multitask and not get killed." Sonic thought as he once again dodged a laser heading in his direction.
"Sonic, take the Emerald and run!" One of the soldiers called out as he took the Chaos Emerald out of inside his jacket pocket then threw it in Sonics direction.
Sonic looked to his left and saw what the guy just threw then grinned as he turned fully around, getting ready to run and catch it. His grin dropped within nanoseconds of seeing the Chaos Emerald flying towards him as one of the aliens jumped up and grabbed it before it was even half way to Sonic.
"Oh well done Joe, now they have it!" A different GUN soldier called out with anger as he looked at his colleague.
"Oh he wont have it for…huh, where did he go?" Sonic seriously said as he charged at the alien then stopped when the alien just vanished.
"The aliens are backing down and leaving, we did it men!" Someone called out with cheer and was the only one to be cheering right now.
"Actually wasn't your objective to not let the aliens get the Chaos Emerald?" Sonic asked with a dry look at the one who cheered out.
"Yeah but they…ah damn it all." The soldier replied then cursed as he realised this mission was a failure.
"Yeah and now I need to split. Good luck." Sonic said with a wink then dashed off fast out of this area.
"Yo Tails, I need the location of another Emerald, they took the one in this area." Sonic said in a serious manner into his communicator as he ran at top speed.
"They as in those aliens right? That makes it how many they have now, four? We are slowly losing to them Sonic and if they get all seven emeralds then we wont ever win this war." Tails replied with high concern with the possibility of losing.
"They will not win, not while I am still alive. Do you have the next Emeralds location?" Sonic spoke with determination in stopping all this and saving everyone.
"Yeah I have the last two locations. One is with GUN in their base being heavily guarded and the other is with Eggman but he is on an air ship heading east." Tails seriously said and was sounding a little hopeless with the amount of losses they have had so far.
"Cheer up bro, we will win this. I'll have Rouge make sure the Emerald in GUN's base doesn't get swiped and I will get the one Eggman has. I just need a way to get aboard Eggmans ship, fancy flying me up there little bro?" Sonic replied with a grin, knowing Tails will come along with this trip.
"I'll get the plane ready and meet you in the hanger in a couple of minutes Sonic." Tails said with a slightly more upbeat tone then cut the line.
"Oh I'll be there in seconds Tails." Sonic chuckled then put more speed into his running.
